“Please keep it up. May God continue to support you. Miracles are happening in our state. With what we have been able to see around, our state has made progress. I want to congratulate you Mr. Governor.”

In his message, taken from the book of John, Pastor Adeboye said Jesus is the way, the truth and life.

The cleric added that  He is also the way out of poverty and bondage.

Citing himself as an example of how Christ can lift  someone from obscurity to prominence, the renowned preacher said he was born and raised in a remote village in Osun State, where even the poor called his parents “poor”.

He said God elevated him to the level where he now gets audience from world leaders.

According to him, no matter how lowly one’s life is or hopeless a situation could be, Christ, the saviour of the world, would make a way where there seemed to be no way.

Pastor Adeboye said: “I come from a remote village, not known and so obscure; it is only recently that it was placed on the map. My family was so poor that even poor people called us poor.”

Why God delays answers to prayers, by Adeboye

Delays in answers to prayers are tactical approaches God designed to show Himself as God and make his powers known, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said.

He said unless God comes to the aid of the helpless, they are done for. To him, prayers are delayed so the He gets all the glory.

In a sermon entitled: “Defender of the Defenceless”, the cleric encouraged all not to lose hope even in the face of adversity, as God intentionally waits till one is completely helpless before he comes to his aid.

He likened God’s style of answering prayers to a doctor who is set to perform an operation, and induces his patient, so that he can perform the surgery without interference.

“It is a horrible thing to be defenceless in a hostile world such as this. But I have good news for you. Look at the sheep which has no horn; cannot bite or run fast; but it has the shepherd as its defender.”

He warned those who are connected to the high and mighty to see their helpers as mortals, who live and die one day.

The cleric urged them to cling to the words of the great shepherd whose promises always come to pass.

“It is terrible to feel lonely and forsaken by friends and family, but the God we serve is mighty to save and he alone has the ability to kill and to save; to wound and to heal and he alone has the final say on life and death.”

The event was anchored by former Lagos State Attorney General Prof Yemi Osinbajo.

    Land owners appeal to Adeboye

An appeal has gone to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, to facilitate payment of outstanding compensation to some land owners in Ogun State

The RCCG is building its new auditorium on a land in Oso and Aguntoye villages in the state.

The intervention, according to the landlords, is to avoid clashes between the displaced villagers and heads of the communities.

They also urged Adeboye to increase the money payable to tenant farmers (Elebuko) on the land for their damaged crops from N20,000 per acre to N50,000.

Speaking in Lagos on behalf of the Agunfoye and Oso villages, the Baale of Agunfoye land, Chief Yekini Babatunde Agunfon and Chief Sikiru Ososanya, said the appeal became imperative, following series of letters to Adeboye.

The spokespersons said the displaced villagers and tenant farmers were becoming restless because they believe the heads of the families have been settled by the church.

They, however, assured the church that this will not hamper on-going construction works.

The communities are demanding additional N200,000 on every acre of the land purchased by the church as well as N50,000 per acre as compensation for damaged crops on the land acquired for the new auditorium.

The spokespersons said the family secured a court injunction against hoodlums who attempted to disrupt the project to show their support for it.

They described as unfounded the rumour that the church had paid some money meant for the communities to some hoodlums instead of the heads of the villages.

Based on the rumour, the families said they had been inundated with demands and threats from the displaced people who thought they had collected money from the church.
