He said the crown must be respected.

The Ondo governor who was represented by his Deputy, Chief Olayide Adelami, at a meeting with the Ondo State Council of Obas, ordered Traditional Stools in the State without Chieftaincy Declarations to produce one and register it before the end of September 2024.

Aiyedatiwa, Ajayi clash over scrapping of 33 LCDAs

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Agboola Ajayi, has insisted that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa should be blamed for the scrapping of 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) by the court.

The late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu signed the bill creating the 33 LCDAs into law last September after he returned from medical vacation, but Justice Adegboyega Adebusoye, in a judgment, said the creation of the LCDAs were inchoate, null and void, unconstitutional and illegal.

Justice Adebusoye ruled that the late Akeredolu did not comply with sections seven and eight of the 1999 Constitution, saying it was illegal for the late former governor to sign a law outside the state.

Ajayi said Aiyedatiwa was in charge during the creation of the LCDAs, noting that the late former governor was on medical vacation.

Ajayi, who addressed reporters in Akure, said Governor Aiyedatiwa should have intervened, reconciled and addressed the injustice the people must have raised as regards the creation of the LCDAs.

He said: “I still maintain what I said by blaming Governor Aiyedatiwa for the judgment and the aftermath of that creation.

“I’m blaming Aiyedatiwa because before they went to court, they must have written several letters to him. Even when they were in court, what stopped him from calling to settle out of court? There is nothing bad in that, and that is leadership. Do you know how much money has gone into that? The hope of the people has been dashed.

“Government is a serious business. Once you inherit an asset from the government, you must also inherit the liability of whatever it is from that government.

“The blame Aiyedatiwa has as a leader was not setting up alternative dispute resolution on the matter.”

Speaking through the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC), Governor Aiyedatiwa called on the judiciary to put Ajayi on trial to produce evidence of how he (Aiyedatiwa) influenced the judge.

He said the PDP governorship candidate lowered the bar for himself and his party, in the quest to become the next governor of Ondo State.

“While Agboola Ajayi has every right to express his opinion on a court verdict, he is not licensed to impugn on the integrity of the sitting judge and the judicial institution, by claiming Governor Aiyedatiwa had influenced the judge to pass his judgment.”

LCDAs’ nullification: Aiyedatiwa’s campaign council wants PDP guber candidate tried over comment

The Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC) on Saturday described a statement credited to the Ondo State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, who reportedly accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of influencing a court judgement, as reckless, defamatory, and an attempt to bring the Nigerian judiciary to ridicule.

An Akure High Court had over the weekend nullified the creation of 133 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) by the administration of the late former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, on the grounds that the creation was inchoate, as it was effected in Ibadan, Oyo State, and not in Ondo State.

Following the verdict, Ajayi was widely reported in the media as saying Aiyedatiwa was behind the judgement of the High Court.

But reacting, the Governor’s Campaign Council in a statement by its State Director of Information, Mr. Kayode Fasua, stated that it was lamentable that Ajayi, by the statements credited to him, had lowered the bar for himself and his party, in the quest to become the next governor of Ondo State.

“While Agboola Ajayi has every right to express his opinion on a court verdict, he is not licensed to impinge on the integrity of the sitting judge and the judicial institution, by claiming Governor Aiyedatiwa had influenced the judge to pass his judgement.

“We had waited for three days in the hope that Ajayi would deny the story or claim that he was quoted out of context, but alas, he regaled in silence, thus affirming that he said that the governor influenced the judge to pass a wrong judgement, which he considered the dissolution of the 133 LCDAs.

“Therefore, we are calling on the judiciary to take up Agboola Ajayi and put him on trial, to produce evidence of how Aiyedatiwa influenced the judge; otherwise, he should be sentenced accordingly,” the LACO-FSIC urged.

The Campaign Council meanwhile called on stakeholders across all political parties to rein in their supporters in all local government areas and conduct awareness programmes for them to eschew political violence and play the game according to the rule, as campaigns begin officially.

“As for us in the All Progressives Congress, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa,  we have been preaching peace and our supporters have keyed in, and this is expected from our ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters’ in other political parties,” Fasua admonished in the statement.

Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State says his administration is committed to food security and welfare of the people of the state.

Aiyedatiwa stated this during the flag-off of the second phase of distribution of palliatives and farm implements to beneficiaries in Akure on Thursday.

The governor said that the initiative was in line with the government’s plan and commitment to ensure food security and stabilty in the  state, especially in view of the challenges occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Aiyedatiwa appealed to traders and other service providers to shun exploitative practices, adding that there was a need for empathy and compassion in business dealings.

He said that the government had constituted  an Agriculture and Food Security Committee in combating food insecurity,  lauding their previous successes and ongoing efforts.

The governor said that the second phase of the palliatives entails distribution of 24,000 bags of rice, 14,040 bags of maize, 3,440 bags of garri.

The governor assured the people of more welfare packages and stressed the need to leverage on local resources for agricultural production.

“Our administration is undoubtedly committed to regular interventions and activities towards alleviating sufferings, hunger and ensuring massive availability of food supply in the state.

“I call on us all to refrain from shylock tendencies to exploit others, not minding the implication of such actions on the economy and people’s welfare.

“Specifically, I call on our Iya-lojas,
Baba-lajes, farmers associations, transport management bodies and all other production and trade organisations in Ondo State and Nigeria at large.

“They should encourage their members, to start bringing down prices of food, goods and services,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa also thanked all agricultural stakeholders for their support and expressed confidence that collaborative efforts would improve Ondo State and Nigeria.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Mr Olayato Aribo, said that food security was one of the primary responsibilities of governments.

He urged beneficiaries to use the distributed items judiciously, adding that the distribution would continue and reach all local governments, farmers, and individuals. (NAN)

A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, has said he resisted pressure to challenge the outcome of the primary due to his interest in the unity of the party and its victory in the November polls

Oke, who declared support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the polls, collapsed his political structure into the campaign train of the Governor.

Oke said his supporters were ready to follow his actions but the peace, unity and development of this state were paramount to him.

Governor Aiyedatiwa said there were no camps in the party and promised to unite all members.
