    Aiyedatiwa orders BEDC to stop estimated billing

    Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has ordered all DisCos in the state, including the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to stop giving estimated billing to electricity consumers in the state.

    Governor Aiyedatiwa asked them to immediately provide their customers with meters.

    Aiyedatiwa spoke when he rolled out low cost electricity meters for residents in the state tagged O’datiwa meters under the Ondo State Mass Metering Programme

    The Ondo governor said his order would take effect from June 1, 2024.

    He said the mass metering programme was in compliance with the Ondo State

    Electric Power Sector Law 2020 Part XII Section 77 (2)(a).

    Aiyedatiwa, who spoke through the state Coordinator of the Ondo State Electricity Regulatory Bureau [SERB] Engr. Stephen Bolawole, said all DisCos were expected to meter all the facilities within 12 months with effect from June 1, 2024.

    He urged DisCos to give customers currently being issued estimated billing priority in the mass metering programme.

    The coat of the ‘O ‘Datiwa Meters’ were placed at Single phase meter would cost N101,750, three phase meter would cost N185,000 while the Dinrail meter would cost N78,000, all exclusive of VAT.

    According to him, “All relevant stakeholders, including electricity distribution companies and consumers within Ondo State, are to comply with the new pricing structure as specified.”

    “DisCos must submit a detailed implementation plan to OSERB within 30 days of the effective date of this Order, outlining their strategy for achieving full metering within the stipulated umetrame.

    “DisCos must provide quarterly progress reports to OSERB detailing the number of meters installed,arcas covered,and any challenges encountered.

    “BEDC Electricity Plc and other DisCos must integrate the smart meters facilitated by the Ondo State Government through accredited MAPs within six months of the effective date of this Order.

    “Failure to do so will result in penalties, including fines and other regulatory actions as deemed appropriate by OSERB.

    “This Order will be reviewed annually to assess its effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.”

    As the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State gets on the drawing board to launch its governorship campaigns, a chieftain of the party in the Diaspora, Hon. Dare Aliu, has assured Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa  of full support from Ondo State indigenes outside the country,  considering the governor’s performance so far.

    Aliu, who is the Director of Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC) for Diaspora Matters, gave the assurance in a statement over the weekend, stating that Aiyedatiwa’s performance in office since he took over December last year, is a cutting edge for him when full campaigns start.

    “Here is a governor who upon assumption of office cleared all backlogs of unpaid salaries and has never owed any worker till date.

    “He also began payment of palliative allowance to civil servants to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy and immediately worked out a technical palliative offer for those in the non-formal sector, by releasing a sum of N2 billion as soft loans for petty traders, peasant farmers, and young entrepreneurs,” he recalled.

    Aliu noted that the state’s indigenes in the Diaspora were also enthralled by the free bus shuttles provided for school children and public workers by the governor, a gesture that cut across the 18 local government areas of the state.

    “Based also on the governor’s eagerness to attract foreign investors to Ondo State, I, in concert with other concerned Ondo indigenes outside the country, have seized the initiative by inviting investors in the agricultural and manufacturing industries to bring huge investment to our state, and soon, these efforts will be yielding result,” he enthused.

    The Akure-born, US-based politician,  however,  assured the state governor of bloc vote in the state capital of Akure South and adjourning areas of Akure North, Ifedore, and Idanre local government areas.

    He called on political actors in the coming election to eschew violence and engage in issue-based campaigns, “for the sake of peace and progress in the sunshine state.”

    Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will receive the Best Entrepreneurship Governor’s Award  at the 8th Young Leaders Entrepreneurship Conference (YOLEC) organised by Elizade University Press Club and Yolechub Ltd  at Elizade University, ilara-mokin, Ondo State on May 31 ,2024 by 10am.

    The theme of the event: Opening a new chapter of moving Nigeria from consumption to production through collective effort is to address the difficult situation entrepreneurs find themselves and how to assist the government in boosting production to ameliorate suffering. 

    Ondo Deputy Governor Dr Olayide Adelami will be the keynote speaker at the conference where Kagantech, No 1 Tech Content Creator in Nigeria, Dr Wole Adamolekun, Public Relations Expert, Barr Temitope Gbadebo, media entrepreneur and lawyer, Oluwatosin Ogunduyile will also speak.

    The convener of the event, Mr. Tosin Adesile, said the yearly event is organised to prepare young people for entrepreneurial life.

    He explained the conference has held special editions in Lagos and Abeokuta.

    Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has welcomed the decision of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim to withdraw the suit challenging the outcome of the April 20 primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state.

    Senator Ibrahim who represents Ondo South Senatorial District had said he withdrew the case due to the intervention by President Bola Tinubu.

    “This suit is now withdrawn due to the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The president called me, had a meeting with me, and assured me he would, as the leader of the party, improve internal democracy within our party. I will need to withdraw the case to enable him to chart a way forward. The Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, earlier visited my Asokoro residence for several hours after another unsuccessful visit to my hotel room in Akure.

    “I cannot disobey the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria because the issue I am fighting for is not personal. It is simply to improve internal democracy, which the President has promised to enhance. My respect for the President is absolute”, Ibrahim had said.

    Aiyedatiwa spoke through the director of information, Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC), Kayode Fasua.

    The Ondo governor said Senator Ibrahim has proven to have good regard for the instrument of dialogue to resolve resolvable disputes as against burdening the judiciary.

    He said: “His consent to the intervention of Mr. President, and that of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa itself, is welcome.

    “As a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Ondo South Senatorial District, he is commended for a proper rumination of his earlier decision to take his party, the APC, and Mr Governor to court, having sat over the scenario and given vent to a peaceful resolution.

    “Together, we move to work together for the people of Ondo State and seek the voters’ mandate of a four-year service, come November 16, this year.”

    Ondo 2024: Canvass for votes honourably, Aiyedatiwa tells opponents

    Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has urged political gladiators in the state to canvass for votes in a honourable manner devoid of thuggery and any form of molestation.

    Governor Aiyedatiwa and 16 other candidates are to slug it out in the November 16 governorship election.

    Aiyedatiwa admonished all political gladiators and their followers to operate within the bounds of decency and law while conducting their political activities in the months ahead.

    He spoke at the 2024 Children’s Day celebration held at the Gabi Fawehinmi Freedom Square with the theme “Building A Brighter Future For The Children.”

    The Ondo governor urged the children not to yield to any pressure to get involved in political thuggery that could truncate that brighter future the government and their parents were hoping for.

    Governor Aiyedatiwa, who flagged off the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination for girls aged 9 to 14, assured that his administration would not fold hands from implementing child-friendly policies and programmes.

    He said the mass recruitment of teachers in schools would go a long way to prepare and secure a brighter future for our children.

    “There should be concerted efforts in investing in our children’s education, healthcare, safety and conducive environments where their potential can be achieved as there is no sacrifice that can be too big to make for them. 

    “The issue of healthcare for children and other residents of the State is not also being overlooked.  Recently, some health workers were recruited while many more are in the process of being recruited into the State workforce due to the dearth of health personnel in almost all the health facilities across the State, not as a result of our own making, but a situation dumped on us by the ‘japa’ syndrome. 

    “Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine which has the female gender as its target is said to be very effective when administered to children between the ages of 9 and 14.  Hence, our resolve to flag off its administration on this day that coincides with the celebration of the Children’s Day.”

    Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has taken steps to unite members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the November governorship election.

    It was gathered that a special team has been raised to ensure all crisis relating to the primary election are resolved.

    Party leaders in each local government areas, according to sources, have been given orders to reach out to aggrieved members and use ‘all necessary’ means to ensure support for Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy.

    The move is coming shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published final list of candidates presented by 17 political parties. They were the parties that complied with the May 20 deadline for the submission of candidates’ names and their running mates.

    The list showed that Aiyedatiwa retained Olayide Adelami as his running mate, while Agboola Ajayi of the PDP picked Samuel Ogunmusi as his running mate.

    Addressing party leaders at the weekend, Aiyedatiwa said the party has remained united and indivisible despite individual ambitions and differences. He noted that his administration is committed to inclusiveness by ensuring that all party leaders and members are involved in every decision.

    “While we may have disagreements at times, it does not mean we are not part of the same party. Let us work together for our victory on November 16. Our members need continuous encouragement, not just during election periods. Everything I have promised will come to fruition; they are not just mere words. In this administration, it is action over words.

    “Considering our current position, it appears we have already won the battle due to our hard work but there is no room for complacency. I encourage our party leaders to return to their respective local governments, put in even more effort, and unite everyone”, he added.

    State Chairman Ade Adetimehin said it was crucial for party members to unite as one family in preparation for the polls.

    “The primary was merely an in-house affair, now is the time for unity. Together we are strong; divided we are weak. We must pool our strength. One person cannot achieve this alone, which is why unity it is essential. We need to be sincere with one another, as that is the essence of politics.” he stated.

    Ondo 2024: Ayeka community backs Aiyedatiwa candidacy

    The leaders of Ayeka community in Okitipupa Local Government Area have endorsed the candidacy of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the November governorship election.

    The Ayeka community led by General Joseph Oluyemi Bajowa (rtd) spoke during a courtesy visit to Governor Aiyedatiwa at the Alagbaka Governor’s office.

    Bajowa said the governor had done more than enough to earn the trust and support of the people of the State.

    Bajowa also informed the governor that the Ayeka Kingdom had been under the rule of a regent for many years and urged the governor to intervene in the process to expedite the installation of a new king.

    He said, “We are here on behalf of the entire Ayeka Kingdom to pledge our unalloyed support and to congratulate you on your excellent governance in the State.

    “We want to specially commend your leadership style and the remarkable progress and peace that you have brought to Ondo State. We stand firmly behind you.”

    Governor Aiyedatiwa, who thanked the elders for declaring support for his administration, said he was not in a position to pick a king for the community.

    Aiyedatiwa said it was the responsibility of the community to pick their king even as he commended General Bajowa’s patriotic service to the country.

    The Governor said, “I appreciate this solidarity visit, especially during a time of political transition. Your visit at this critical juncture is a great honour and signifies the strong support of the Ayeka kingdom for this administration.

    “Not many people are willing to show their support during election season. I therefore appreciate this endorsement from the Ayeka community.

    “We will not choose a king for you; that is the responsibility of the Ayeka community. Our role is to oversee the process and ensure its swift completion. I urge the community leaders to write to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to expedite the process.”

    Aiyedatiwa promises massive investment in cocoa production

    Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has promised to invest massively in cocoa production to boost the economy of the state.

    Governor Aiyedatiwa pledged to retain the state’s status as the number one producer of cocoa.

    Aiyedatiwa spoke when he played host to members of the Ondo State Cocoa Council led by its chairman, Olusegun Awolumate,

    The Ondo governor said his administration would support cocoa farmers to push their products to the international market to earn foreign exchange.

    He said the young generation of cocoa farmers would be encouraged through the construction of rural roads to enhance the productivity of farmers and produce marketers in the state.

    He said: “We will support you and other stakeholders to increase our cocoa production, most especially the one that has to do with growing cocoa outside the forests which if measures are not taken will affect the quality of our products in the International market.

    “Whatsoever measures we need to take, I promise we will look at them together to make sure the problem is resolved and our product remains the best in the International market.

    “Involve youths in your activities. We are interested in supporting a new generation of farmers.”

    Awolumate said Ondo State has the comparative advantage among equals which has consistently served as a major revenue driver to its economic growth.

    He said 50 students of the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure (FECA) and the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) were currently involved in the pilot stage of the establishment of the Cocoa Agropreneurs’ Mentorship Programme (CAMP).

    He said the programme was to attract and retain a successor generation of youthful Cocoa farmers.

    Ondo 2024: Aiyedatiwa seeks adequate security for November polls

    Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pleaded with the Military and other security agencies to ensure maximum security during the November 16 governorship election in the state.

    Aiyedatiwa also reiterated the commitment of his administration to the primary mandate of securing of lives and properties of the people in the state.

    He spoke while playing host to the General Officer, Commanding 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major General Obinna Godwin Onuborgu, in his office, in Akure.

    He said his administration has ensured optimal security through the support of conventional security agencies, including the Army.

    He said: “Thank you for stopping over and we appreciate your men for providing security to the people. We have been enjoying that support from your men in Ondo state.

    “We have some peculiar situations in the State, especially our borders with Edo and others. The Army has always been there to support us anytime there are kidnappings because the police alone cannot do the job.

    “We will continue to encourage and support the synergy of the military, police, civil defence and our own homegrown security outfit, Amotekun Corps to enhance our security and protect our borders.”

    Major General Onuborgu said he took over the Division on March 13 and that he was in the state to see his troops to encourage them and assess the security situation in the state.
