  • Uroghide does not deserve senate seat – Shuaibu

Philip Shuaibu, the running mate to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state, Godwin Obaseki says the allegation by the Director General of the PDP governorship candidate, Matthew Uroghide that Governor Adams Oshiomhole was using the 75 dollars World Bank loan for Obaseki’s campaign shows he was mistakenly voted in as a senator.

According to him, “everybody knows how a World Bank loan is monitored to the point projects are completed, so I wonder where Uroghide is getting his information from. But we are not surprised because out of jealousy Uroghide opposed the approval of the 75million dollars World Bank loan which will benefit his constituency. With that approval of by National Assembly which was done against his wish, the Queen Ede erosion control has been made possible today.

“The work of a senator is to represent his senatorial district and bringing projects that will impact on the lives of his people. If Uroghide does not want the development of his people and he does not want erosion control at Queen Ede, such a person does not deserve to be a Senator particularly in Edo South. Because he does not want development in his area he does not know the extent of work that is taking place in Queen Ede.

“That shows that himself and his fake Pastor candidate, does not see development they only see destruction. And as a senator he should mention one bill that he has moved on the floor of the house. He is the first senator from Edo South that have been shouted down by his colleagues in the senate twice that he wanted to speak, it means he does not have confidence on himself.

“I am challenging him to it, it took me just few minutes to move a motion at the floor of the House calling for attention on the dilapidated Benin-Auchi road but he that is from Benin he never did anything to help. He is only in the senate for fashion and business. He is showing his ignorant in public that the money was being diverted because that is what PDP would have done if they have the opportunity. Edo South people still have the opportunity to recall him because he is going to waste the next three years in that senate,” he stated.

  • Edo: PDP chairman defects to APC

Edo: PDP chairman defects to APC

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in ward 11, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo state, Chief Sunday Edehor, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chief Edehor said he led his supporters to the APC because he does not want to be stoned by his people for showing ingratitude owing to what the people of the area have benefited from the APC led government.

Edehor said he has been in the PDP since 1998 but recently observed he and his supporters have been deceiving themselves by remaining in the party.

“The truth is that I found out that some of us have been deceiving ourselves in PDP for a long time. This is the first time Etsako man will be governor in the person of Adams Oshiomhole and now the same APC is giving us Deputy governor so how do you expect us to remain in PDP.

“We have been managing over the years abusing Oshiomhole despite the fact that he is our son but we are in PDP, but it has come to a stage when we decided to think about what is good for our people. PDP since 1999 never gave Edo North governorship not to think of giving it to Etsako. One leader is always moving it to wherever he feels while our people suffer here.

“Just take a drive around Etsako area you, you will see the roads, schools Oshiomhole has built for us, so don’t you think our people will stone some of us if we continue to remain in PDP? I don’t want to risk my life because they will say I am an enemy of progress.

“So I will be a mad man to remain in PDP. And let me tell you, there is no more PDP in the entire three Local Governments in Etsako. It will not make sense to remain at all, because both the people and God will even punish us so that is why we decided to leave for APC. It makes more sense for us to join APC so that the developmental projects Oshiomhole that has started in Etsako land will continue.

“People are supposed to play politics for good life, development and not selfish interest. I will be considered a selfish man if I remain in PDP. Today in Etsako, I am proud that we have seen development and I want that development to continue when Shuaibu becomes Deputy Governor” he stated.

  • Why I lost 2012 governorship election – Oke

Why I lost 2012 governorship election – Oke

A governorship aspirant for the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state, Chief Olusola Oke said Monday that whether or not he is given the mandate to fly the party’s ticket, he will work for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November election.

Oke also said he lost the 2012 governorship election in the state to irregularities which include the availability of about 120,000 fake voters which he said was proven at the Supreme Court.

Speaking after obtaining his nomination form at the APC secretariat on Monday,  he said every indices on ground in the state suggests that the people of the state were eagerly waiting for the APC to redeem it from the clutches of oppression which they have been subjected to in the last eight years.

He dismiss believe that the deluge of aspirants in the party was dividing the party, saying “Our party is very lucky to have so many aspirants in Ondo state. As the last count, about 18 have so far collected the nomination form and I am aware that many others are coming. That is a lot of lesion for our party and it shows that those desiring change in Ondo state are very many and the voices are very loud.”

He said further that “Ondo state has no reason to be where it is today. We have the longest coast line, the richest forestry in Nigeria, the richest mineral resources, the bitumen is second to the largest in the world, we are oil producing and we have all mineral resources.

“The Human Resources is in abundance. Ondo state therefore has no reason to be poor. Unfortunately, in the last seven years, we have been misruled and misguided by a leadership without vision, direction or mission. The consequence of this is that the cherished value of unity, inter girth and pride has been lost.

“My mission is to arrest the drift and turn around our economy which used to be a civil service economy. Even the civil service has no capacity anymore to service the economy with six months salaries unpaid. This translates to an economy that is totally castrated.

“I believe that the many projects in Ondo state which has been abandoned, if turned around will transform economy of the state. A tidal example is the Olokola project which has been abandoned, the cassava processing factory, and many others. My mission immediately revives these projects and completes them so that we can diversify our economy.”

He accused the Mimiko government of abandoning the road map of development initiated by previous administrations in the state, beginning from Chief Ajasin to Adefarati and Agagu have all been abandoned. I intend to revive this road map to ensure that education which used to be our pride is revived. Today, Ondo state has lost its pride of place in education.
He said further that “In 2009, when Dr Olusegun Agagu was leaving the saddle of power, he N38 billion in the coffer of Ondo state which was unprecedented anywhere in Nigeria. Today,we are down with N108 billion indebtedness. It takes a man of vision, a man that has the grace of God and the fear of God to be able to pilot the affairs of Ondo state.

“I want to create the enabling environment that can attract private investors to Ondo state end you cannot do that without infrastructure. We will also engender a policy that will create wealth for our people so that we can lost those values we have lost.

“The people of Ondo state are looking up to APC because it is the only hope for the people because they cannot trust the leadership of a party that has held them hostage for eight years running.

“In 2012, about 120,000 illegal voters were in the voters register and this was proven at the Supreme Court. The election was characterized by a lot of unfairness and the people of Ondo state are wiser for it.

“I told them that this government will impoverish them and will not do anything during the second term and the testimonies are very clear for everybody. What us standing between me and the government house is the ticket of APC. Once I get the ticket, I am governor of Ondo state”.

Asked if he will work for any candidate who emerged winner if he failed to secure the ticket, Oke said “I believe that I am the best candidate in the race. As a Christian, I have heard that power belongs to God and He gives it to whom He pleases. If at the end of the day the delegates takes a decision and it is not me, I will work for the APC.”

On cases of inconclusive elections in recent times, he said “I am aware of the provisions of the electoral act that states that where an election has been conducted and there remain units where votes did not take place and the number of registered voters in that unit are such that may affect the outcome of the election if they had voted, the election should be inconclusive and that what is guiding INEC in their decisions.

“I am not expecting such to happen in Ondo state, but if it happens, the law will prevail. But I am not praying for inconclusive election because it can be very frustrating and very challenging. But that is the law at the moment, until it is amended; we have to play it according to the law.”

Collect your PVCs from INEC – Ambode

…Urges APC members to remain loyal to party ideals

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Friday urged residents to approach the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across the State for their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to enable them participate in future elections.

Ambode, who spoke at the All Progressives Congress (APC) party secretariat in Lagos during a meeting with Local Government and Ward Chairmen of the party, said it was important for residents of the State who are yet to collect their PVCs to approach the electoral body, as the process of distribution of the cards has begun in earnest.

The Governor said available information at his disposal was to the effect that a lot of people were not aware of the ongoing exercise by INEC, and as such, people must be made to be aware and take the distribution seriously.

It would be recalled that the electoral commission, few days ago, began distribution of PVCs in Lagos with a call on registered voters to come with their temporary cards for the collection of the PVCs between 8am and 4pm from Monday to Friday.

The Governor said: “There is an INEC exercise going on now in which they are distributing voters’ card to those who are yet to collect. Many people are not even aware of the development and I like to use this medium to appeal to our party members to go and collect their PVCs.

“I want to encourage all of us that we should now take the exercise seriously because that is the beginning of the framework of the elections yet to come. This is an appeal both to our members who are here and those who are not here.

“The APC, as from Monday, will also start massive mobilization and sensitization of the public towards the exercise,” Ambode said.

The Governor equally thanked members of the party for supporting his administration so far, adding that the support had contributed to the huge successes recorded in the last fourteen months since he assumed office.

Ambode, who specifically appreciated the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all the party leaders for their support, however urged party faithful to remain committed and loyal to the ideals of the party, as well as the leadership of the party.

“Once again, I want to thank all party leaders and members. I have said it before that we must follow our leaders and I am saying it again. We need to support and abide by whatever directive or direction our National Leader is asking us to go,” the Governor said.

On his part, Tinubu corroborated the plea of the Governor asking members to collect their PVCs, saying that the people must indeed give the ongoing exercise by INEC the necessary seriousness it deserves.

Besides, Tinubu commended Governor Ambode for his laudable achievements in office just within fourteen months, adding that the Governor has made him very proud.

He also commended the Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule and the entire team of the State Government for supporting the Governor to achieve so much within a little time.

He added: “I was with Mr President, President Muhammadu Buhari for about two hours yesterday and Governor Ambode was not there when we were discussing generally about the problem of Nigeria. The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo got up and spoke glowingly of the Governor and my head was swelling. I became even more proud of him.”

Ribadu rejoins APC, says ‘I heeded calls to return’

Former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),Malam Nuhu Ribadi, is back in the All Progressives Congress (APC), and it is official.

Ribadu,in a statement on Friday in Yola,Adamawa State, said his return was in response to “ calls on me to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party of which I was a founding member.”

He re-registered on Thursday through the party’s online portal after which  the leadership of the party in his  Bako ward of Yola South Local Government Area visited him at his Yola residence to “welcome me back to their fold.”

He said:“This afternoon (Friday), I visited the Yola South secretariat of the party to present myself and submit to the leadership as a loyal party man. My decision to return to the APC was triggered by my belief that all politics are local.

“Almost everyone around me, and with whom we started my political journey believed the time had come for us to make sacrifices and make concessions. That is in addition to the unbelievable love that my friends in the APC have showered on me in the past months.

“They demonstrated in words and action that they wanted me back home. The intractable crises in the PDP also made it impossible for one to contribute to the necessary task of building a viable opposition platform for our country.

“I also did a deep and long reassessment of the circumstances that warranted my exit from the APC in the first place. I left the APC in 2014 owing to fundamental disagreements with the ways the chapter of the party in my state was run after it fell into some hands.

“Some colleagues and I tried hard to reposition the fold and save the then APC administration from an orchestrated impeachment plot. We didn’t succeed.

“Events in the last 15 months have addressed many of the issues and healed some of the wounds. More so, with the genuine and sincere invitations I received since last year to retrace my steps into the party, I decided to return after consulting family and political associates at all levels.”

He expressed gratitude to  “all those members of the party who privately and publicly prodded me to return to the party. My appreciation also goes to the leadership of our party, from my ward in Bako to the national leadership, for the enthusiasm they showed in having me back.”

Ribadu left APC in 2014 after failing to get the governorship ticket.

Fayose denies spending Ekiti funds on EFCC case

…Challenges opposition to forward evidence to EFCC

Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to come out with concrete evidence to substantiate its claims that he is spending state funds on his case against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Fayose advised the APC to forward any evidence at its disposal to the EFCC warning the opposition to keep silent since “Ekiti people have not complained that their money is missing.”

He said: “That kind of allegation can only come from the dirty mind of APC members in Ekiti.

“There is nothing like that and if they have strong evidence, the EFCC which has become a department of the APC‎ is there for them to do their biddings.

“Or has Ekiti people complained that their money is missing?‎ By the way, the APC governors whose electio‎ns were challenged in the court, where did the money spent on litigations come from?

“The APC was in government in Ekiti 1999-2003 and 2010-2014, the PDP did not disturb them as they are waging war, fabricating lies everyday to disparage this government.

“By the grace of God, their noise will be like that of dog before mankind.‎ The APC should stop disturbing sensibility of Nigerians and face squarely the myriads of problems confronting the people.
