UPDATED: Why I dumped APC, by El-Rufai

Former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

El-Rufai announced his defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in a post on his verified Facebook page on Monday titled: “NIGERIA UPDATE: Onwards to the future”.

He noted that there was conflict between his personal values and the current direction of the APC as the primary reason for his decision.

El-Rufai further expressed disappointment with the APC’s leadership, accusing the party of straying from the progressive ideals of its founding members.

He revealed he had raised concerns about the party’s trajectory privately and publicly over the past two years but found no willingness among the current leadership to address the issues.

El-Rufai’s resignation from the APC, effective immediately, was submitted to his ward in Kaduna State.

He also announced his decision to join the SDP, describing it as the platform for his future political engagements.

He called on his supporters and other concerned Nigerians to join him in the SDP, emphasizing the need for a unified democratic platform to challenge the APC.

El-Rufai said: “As a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), I have fond memories of working with other compatriots to negotiate the merger of political parties that created the APC. It had been my hope since 2013 that my personal values and that of the APC will continue to align up to the time I choose to retire from politics.

“Developments in the last two years confirm that there is no desire on the part of those who currently control and run the APC to acknowledge, much less address, the unhealthy situation of the party.

“On my part, I have raised concerns in private and, more recently, in public regarding the capricious trajectory of the party. Therefore, at this point in my political journey, I have come to the conclusion that I must seek another political platform for the pursuit of the progressive values I cherish.

“Founders rightly feel attached towards institutions they helped create, but one must be pragmatic enough to admit when a divergence appears unbridgeable. I have diligently served the APC and made my contributions to its viability as a political platform,  but I recognize that the party has since strayed and left me stuck in the vision of its well-meaning founding fathers and mothers.

“As a loyal party man, I worked to help secure the APC’s election victories in 2015, 2019 and 2023. I was one of the many governors elected on the party’s platform in 2015 and 2019, that stood for certain democratic and progressive principles to advance nation-building. My eight-year tenure in Kaduna State was devoted to implementing progressive policies to advance human development in education and healthcare, as well as expand infrastructure, promote equality of opportunity, create jobs and attract investments. These records count for little in the current APC that has castrated its organs and treated its membership with contempt in the last two years. I find this no longer acceptable.

“Today, 10th March 2025, I have submitted a letter resigning my membership of the APC to my ward in Kaduna, effective immediately. Prior to this step, I had concluded consultations with my mentors, colleagues and loyalists across the country about the future. I have now decided to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and adopt it as the platform for our future political engagements and activities.

“Without prejudice to this decision, as a member of the SDP, I will focus on engaging with and persuading other opposition leaders and parties to join us and congregate under a unified democratic platform to challenge the APC in all elections and bye-elections between now and 2027 by the Grace of God. I therefore call on all our supporters and other persons concerned about our country’s future to join us in the SDP in the journey towards making Nigeria flourish as a beacon of pride for Africans and the Black Race.”

Osun APC dismisses Adeleke’s allegations against Oyetola over $20m health grant

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has dismissed allegations of misappropriation of a $20 million World Bank health grant leveled against former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Governor Adeleke, in a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accused Oyetola—now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy—of money laundering, financial misconduct, and violations of the Public Procurement Act in handling the health sector grant.

However, addressing a press conference in Abuja on Sunday, Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, described the petition as a diversionary tactic, claiming Adeleke was using it to distract from his struggles with local government administration in the state.

Olabisi accused the governor of orchestrating a smear campaign to tarnish Oyetola’s legacy, insisting that all funds received under his administration were properly monitored by the donor.

“We will share with you details

“Not only was the fund used to improve health in the state, the contract awards followed the relevant procurement laws of the state. We make bold to state that no commissioner, adviser or appointee of ex-Governor Oyetola was awarded contracts while serving in government.

“We challenge the state government, who is now on a witch-hunting mission, to publish names of contractors and date of contract awards to substantiate their evil narrative. Unlike Oyetola who uploaded 110 contract and procurement details on the government portal in three years, the current government has only published seven contract details in two years, raising eyebrows about his commitment to accountability and transparency.

“We want to state unequivocally that Governor Oyetola followed all legal and procedural requirements in governance. The claim that he “flouted procurement rules” is misleading, as contracts were awarded in line with the Osun State Public Procurement Law.”

Olabisi then concluded that, “If the current jesters think sponsoring mudslinging would discourage APC from giving life to the judgement of the Court of Appeal reinstating its chairmen and councilors, then the government should bury the thought. The Chairmen and Councillors have come to stay and they are resolute on giving a dividend of democracy to the people of Osun.”

Anambra Catholic priest hails APC guber aspirant, says his life inspires youth

Controversial Catholic priest in Anambra State, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, has praised All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, describing his life as an inspiration to Nigerian youth.

Obimma, popularly known as Fr. Ebube Muonso, made the remark on Sunday at Blessed Iwene Tansi Catholic Church in Umudioka, Dunukofia Local Government Area, when Okonkwo visited to seek divine guidance ahead of the APC primaries on April 5 and the governorship election on November 8.

Delivering a homily titled “Changing the Battleground,” Obimma described Okonkwo as a strong and resilient individual who has achieved success despite not coming from a privileged background.

“The people will soon defeat their enemy. God has already heard their cries. Weep no more—the strategy of the devil must fail. There’s no victory without a desert war,” Obimma declared.

Addressing controversies surrounding him, Obimma dismissed claims that he is in conflict with anyone, insisting that those attacking him are fighting against God, not him personally.

“They cannot do anything to me. I will not tolerate insults against my fellow priests, but I will not fight them either—I will continue praying for them. Instead of bringing me down, God will keep lifting me up,” he stated.

Speaking before the end of the service, Prof. Okonkwo assured the congregation that no amount of conspiracy or opposition could stand in the way of God’s will being done in the forthcoming election.

“We are here to dedicate the period of our campaigns for the November governorship election in the state. Only God gives powers. It will be a privilege to be the governor of Anambra state.

“And for those who believe that our youths must have something doing, for those who believe there are enough potentials in our state to make it great again, for those who believe in securing our lives is important, the time has come.

“I seek for your prayers. Whether we win or lose, we will be here again to celebrate and give praises to God” the chairman of United Nigeria Airline, UNA said

Osun APC raises concern over alleged plot by PDP new LG executives to cause unrest

The All Progressives Congress(APC), Osun State chapter, has raised concerns over alleged plots by the newly elected local government executives of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) to cause unrest by staging a protest on Monday.

The opposition party on Saturday urged police and other security operatives to be on alert as the planned protest may disrupt the peace of the state.

APC through its Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi said: “Information at our disposal revealed that the embattled PDP-led state government resorted to the planning of the protest to whip up unmerited sentiment for its members illegally-selected and tagged the council chairmen and councillors.

“This is believed may likely have resultant effect of rocking the peace of the state as there is a precedent of such which occurred on 17th February, 2025 in which one of the reinstated APC local government chairmen was killed.”

“The make-believe protest may, of course, be made to look like a spontaneous one but its planned hidden motive seems to cause cataclysm across the state during which the reinstated chairmen and councillors with some leaders of the APC may be marked for possible attack during the melee.”

Meanwhile, the Director of Media of PDP, Oladele Olabamiji berated APC over the claim saying:” We are in government, we don’t need any protest, we are the one to ensure peace.”

  • I remain committed to anti-APC multi-party coalition but won’t leave PDP – Atiku

I remain committed to anti-APC multi-party coalition but won’t leave PDP – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared commitment towards a multi-party coalition against the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in 2027.

He however said he will never leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement titled: “Atiku remains a bonafide member of PDP” in Abuja on Saturday night, the former PDP presidential candidate roundly condemned increasing speculations he was plotting to dump the PDP.

The Atiku Media team said: “We have observed that some news platforms are peddling unverified information that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is abandoning the Peoples Democratic Party.

“We wish to clarify that the so-called news of Atiku defecting to another party is a total fallacy that holds no merit in logic.

“Recall that Atiku Abubakar had persistently called for a coalition of opposition political parties in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general election with the aim of ousting the incompetent and pain-inflicting All Progressives Congress, in order to  give Nigerians a new lease of life.

“Atiku is still advocating a robust coalition that would accommodate all opposition parties – the PDP inclusive.

“Hence, it is fallacious and unfounded to allege that the Waziri is jumping PDP ship. Such an allegation is antithetical to the objective of the grand coalition, which the former Vice President is currently driving alongside other prominent political leaders in the country.

“We, therefore, wish to state unequivocally that Atiku remains a principal bonafide member of the PDP, the main opposition party; any insinuation to the contrary is contrived to confuse Nigerians about the magnitude of the grand coalition that is at work to rescue Nigeria from the grip of the APC.”

EFCC invitation: APC group absolves Akpabio of campaign against Ex-Gov Emmanuel

The All Progressives Congress Media Network has absolved the Senate President Godswill Akpabio of smear campaigns in the media against former Governor Udom Emmanuel.

It faulted the allegation of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that Akpabio is the sponsor of the media report of Emmanuel’s arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) last week.

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, in a statement on Friday, accused the Senate President of orchestrating smear media campaigns against the immediate past governor of the state in respect of his invitation by the anti-graft agency.

But the Director General of the APC Media Network, Otuekong Iniobong John in a statement on Saturday said that Akpabio has no hand in Emmanuel’s invitation by the EFCC and the media frenzy that followed.

The statement reads in parts, “The All Progressives Congress Media Network has been compelled to address the defamatory allegations made by the factional National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),Debo Ologunagba, against the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

“We note that the factional National Publicity Secretary of the PDP failed to deny the fact that former Governor Udom Emmanuel was indeed invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“Mr. Emmanuel himself has acknowledged honoring the EFCC’s invitation, albeit without clarifying the purpose behind it.

“The primary mandate of the EFCC is to investigate and prosecute economic and financial crimes in the country. Therefore, the reports regarding Mr. Emmanuel’s invitation by the EFCC cannot be attributed to a smear campaign orchestrated by Senator Akpabio or any other individual.

“We categorically assert that Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, has no business disseminating the news of the arrest/invitation of the former Governor Udom Emmanuel.

“As the Senate President, he is focused on overseeing the operations of the National Assembly and has no interest in engaging with trivial matters”.

The APC group said that it was sure that the national spokesperson of the PDP was acting the script of the Akwa Ibom state government.

The statement further said, “It is unfortunate that the factional National Publicity Secretary of the PDP could condescend to making baseless and malicious statements. But We know that the press release by the factional National Publicity Secretary of the PDP was conceived and sponsored by the PDP government in Akwa Ibom State.

“Some tribal bigots in the state have been propagating false propaganda that Senator Akpabio was behind the petition against ex-governor Udom Emmanuel. However, a PDP elder, Rt. Hon. Chief Ndueso Essien, has stated that Senator Akpabio was not involved in the petition.

“We challenge the PDP’s factional National Publicity Secretary to deny the fact that Mr. Udom Emmanuel was actually invited/arrested by the EFCC before accusing others of being behind the spreading of the news.

“We also ask if Senator Godswill Akpabio was the mastermind behind the arrest of former Governors Yahaya Bello and Ifeanyi Okowa, among others who have been investigated and prosecuted by the EFCC. This highlights the naivety, cluelessness and pettiness of the factional National Publicity Secretary of the PDP.

“The APC Media Network condemns the PDP’s shameless attempt to manipulate public opinion and tarnish Senator Akpabio’s reputation. Their desperate efforts to discredit him will not distract from their own glaring failures.

“We urge the public to see through this cheap propaganda and hold the PDP accountable for their actions”.

  • Ayiri Emami hails Omo Agege’s commitment to APC

Ayiri Emami hails Omo Agege’s commitment to APC

The Prime Minister of Warri Kingdom and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief Ayiri Emami, has praised former Deputy Senate President, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, for what he described as his unwavering commitment to the APC.

Speaking during an APC interactive stakeholders’ meeting in Delta South Senatorial District with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR (KSJI), at Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South Local Government Area, Emami noted that if there is anyone truly representing the APC, it is Omo-Agege, describing him as a leader who stands out within the party in Delta.

Emami emphasised the need for party unity, internal discipline, and strategic planning ahead of the 2027 elections.

He noted that the greatest challenges facing the party are some of President Bola Tinubu’s appointees from Delta State, particularly from Warri South West and other parts of the state, who he said have refused to identify with the party or contribute to its growth.

While calling for unity and strategic leadership in Delta APC, Emami warned against internal divisions and urged party members to demonstrate genuine loyalty rather than switching allegiances for personal gain. “If there is anyone truly representing the APC, it is Senator Omo-Agege—he clearly stands out,” Emami declared.

Emami also cautioned against political betrayal, stating that some individuals who publicly align with the APC secretly support opposing interests. He stressed that true party members must be dedicated and willing to defend the party’s mandate rather than aiding external forces.

“On election day, if you are not popular, can you rig an election? If you cannot even secure victory in your own stronghold, do you expect others to fight for you? Those who want to be leaders of the party in Delta should show us their results in the last elections,” Emami said.

Reflecting on the 2023 elections, Emami acknowledged mistakes by the APC, particularly in party leadership appointments.

“One of our greatest mistakes in the last election was how key positions were allocated, especially the state party chairman. We had people in charge who were more interested in personal business than in the success of the party,” he noted.

Emami called for a more strategic approach moving forward, ensuring that those appointed to leadership positions are truly committed to the party’s success. “The truth is, many of the so-called leaders have never truly won their local government in an election. They sit in their houses and make decisions without understanding what happens on the ground. That must change.”

Emami addressed concerns about certain party members undermining the APC from within, particularly those who benefit from the party at the federal level but align with other interests at the state level. “We know those who are APC in Abuja and PDP in Delta. These are the same individuals working against the party’s progress,” he stated.

Emami emphasised the need to protect the party’s structure from external manipulation. “Those who receive federal government benefits, such as small surveillance jobs, should understand that I prioritize giving these opportunities to party members. Instead of bringing outsiders, I ensure that APC members are the ones benefiting. That is the right thing to do.”

“Now, we’re entering a new phase, a new journey. Many people are repositioning themselves ahead of 2027, but some only want to destroy our party from within. We must stand together with Senator Omo-Agege to prevent that. We’ll stand strong until we get it right. I assure you, we’re not newcomers to this political game.

“The last election was a stark reminder of our weaknesses. Some APC members were quick to spread negative news about our own party. How can you win like that? Instead of defending our results, some so-called leaders helped the PDP discredit us. That’s a weak foundation. We can’t repeat the same mistakes. Our politics should be local, focused on supporting each other and stopping the betrayal of our party for personal gain. If we don’t stand together, we’ll continue to suffer.

“Chief Emami urged APC members to engage in genuine grassroots mobilization, rather than relying on external influences to determine leadership. He criticized individuals seeking political appointments without putting in the necessary groundwork, stating, ‘If you sell out your people, you’ll regret it. We must build a party structure that works for everyone, not just a few individuals.”

“As we look ahead to the next political cycle, Emami stressed the importance of solidifying our party’s foundation before making moves towards 2027. ‘Before we move forward, we must fix our foundation. Our current party structure at the state level is built on shaky ground. If I don’t see people doing the work, I won’t support them,’ he asserted, warning against attempts to manipulate party structures for personal advantage.

“Emami also highlighted the need for inclusive governance, advocating for fair representation across ethnic groups in Delta State. ‘When I submit a name for an appointment, I ensure balance—one for Itsekiri, one for Urhobo, one for Ijaw in Warri. This is what real leadership looks like,’ he said.”

Emami urged APC members to remain steadfast and committed, assuring them that the party has a strong future in Delta State if it remains united and focused. “If we remain united, we will take control of this state and deliver real development to our people,” he concluded.

Anambra guber: APC begins screening of aspirants ahead of shadow election

Ahead of the April 5, 2025, primary election for the Anambra State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party on Friday commenced the screening of the seven aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket.

The exercise was preceded by the inauguration of the committee headed by the former governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema by the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The two-day screening exercise taking place at the National  Secretariat of the party in Abuja will be rounded off later today (Saturday).

The seven aspirants who have purchased the nomination forms include; Hon. Chukuma Michael Umeoji, Prof. Obiora Francis Okonwko, Nicholas Chukwujeku Ukachukwu, Sir Paul Chukwuma, Johnbosco Obinna Onunkwo, Valentine Ozigbo and Edozie Madu, respectively.

APC chairman charged the Shema-led screening committee to be fair to all the aspirants and prevent litigation.

Tasking the committee, Ganduje said, “We have confidence in you to do justice in what you are assigned to do. Ensure that you don’t leave some gaps to make us face some litigation either within the party or outside the party.”

The Chairman of the committee, Shema appreciated the party for the confidence reposed in them and assured the leadership that the candidate the party will put forward is not only going to be capable and competent to compete against other candidates but also capable of bringing victory after this election.

He said: “We want to express our deep appreciation for finding us worthy to carry out this function of screening the governorship aspirants for Anambra State.

“We want to use the opportunity to thank the party for the thorough job they have done putting together all the necessary documentation.

“As the chairman rightly said, I have been involved in several screenings and conducting primary elections across the country. So, what I have seen here is quite commendable.

“We want to assure the Chairman that the principle of this party is anchored on the rule of law, and being the largest party in Africa, I have no doubt that the candidate put forward for this election, is not only capable and competent to compete against other candidates but also capable of bringing up victory after this election.”

Emerging from the screening exercise, one of the aspirants and former APC National Auditor, Sir Paul Chukwuma told newsmen that he remains the best candidate to fly the flag of the party.

Applauding the screening process, Chukwuma said the exercise was a routine to ensure that only qualified aspirants were selected to fly the party’s flag in the election.

“I came prepared for the screening and I am happy it went well. I am ready for the primary and also hopeful to be elected. I’m also convinced that the APC will win the Anambra election”.

  • Ganduje, Barau receive 2023 Atiku support groups in 19 Northern States into APC

Ganduje, Barau receive 2023 Atiku support groups in 19 Northern States into APC

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, on Friday, received members of the support groups of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election from the 19 Northern States into the APC.

The defectors under the aegis of the Coalition of Atiku Support Groups in the 19 Northern States in the 2023 general elections, announced their cross carpeting from the PDP to the APC at the A-Class Event Centre, Abuja.

Five representatives of the group from each of the 19 Northern States and FCT attended the event, pledging to work for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2027 general election across the nooks and crannies of the North.

The groups said they decided to join the APC and support President Tinubu following Senator Barau’s encouragement.

The Coordinator of the Coalition, Hon Abubakar Malami, said: “Our groups comprise various strata of society – women, youths, students, traders, academics, and farmers— representing diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds.

“In the 2023 general elections build-up, we mobilised our members across the nooks and crannies of the 19 Northern States and the FCT to campaign for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. To the glory of God, Alhaji Atiku and the people around him acknowledged and appreciated the support of our groups. We played a key role in the votes the former vice president polled in the last presidential election.

“We supported Alhaji Atiku in our quest to address the challenges facing our region, especially the terrorist activities of bandits, which are clogging our people’s wheel to economic activities. Farming, the mainstay of our people, was a no-go area. Our farmlands were turned into kidnappers’ dens.

“However, to the glory of Almighty God, 22 months into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tenure, a fresh air of peace and hope permeates the 19 Northern States. The crashing prices of food items cannot be divorced from the relative peace enjoyed in our region.

“To tackle the challenges facing our region, the President has established the North West Development Commission (NWDC) following a bill sponsored by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin. This is the game changer. Mr President has also established the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).

“Another thing that has endeared the President Tinubu-led APC government to us is the Barau Initiative for Agricultural Revolution in North West (BIARN), a brainchild of the Deputy President of the Senate. We read in the national dailies that over 500 young farmers millionaires will be created under this initiative in the North West.

“This is what has been lacking in our region. Diversification is the way to go. If this can be replicated in the North East and North Central geopolitical zones, our country will attain food security, and our unemployed youths will be engaged. We are optimistic that our country is on the path to prosperity,” he said.

He said they have decided to team up with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in view of the success being recorded by his administration to lead the country to the next level of economic prosperity.

“In 2027, we will work for the continuation of President Tinubu’s administration. Our sincere appreciation goes to His Excellency, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator (Dr) Barau I Jibrin, CFR, for working hard to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in addressing the challenges facing our region and the country. He is the Sardauna Arewa of our time,” he said.

Barau described the defection of the Atiku supporters in the North as a big catch for the APC in the North.

“It’s a big catch. We are making a big catch today at our party. Mr. President is a very good man. He’s doing his best to reposition Nigeria so it will be turned into a land of prosperity. And it’s good that you understood that and have come to acknowledge what Mr. President is doing.

“It is good that you are teaming up with Mr President so that he will succeed in his effort to change our development trajectory and make this country a land of El Dorado. This is a very good development. Today, we are happy you are joining the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu family.

“You are joining the APC family because it’s a family that cherishes hard work. And for us, we do not discriminate.
” Whoever comes into the party today has the same privileges, the same latitude to operate like someone who has stayed for years. The only difference is your hard work. What have you been able to do at the party? So if you do better if you do well, you will even be recognised more than someone who has been around since the party’s inception,” he said.

Describing President Tinubu as the father for all, he said; “You know he is someone who is known to be at home in all parts of the country, someone who is generous, his hospitality is unprecedented, he has everything that you can think of as a good man and a leader.”

He commended Ganduje for leading the party to victory in all off-season polls and said that since Ganduje became President, APC has been winning elections back to back.

” He has shown capacity. He has shown that he is capable. So we are proud of you. And we thank you for making us proud, we thank you for making Kano state proud, we thank you for making Northwest proud, we thank you for making Nigeria proud because you are someone who is at home everywhere,” he said.

Ganduje hailed the defection of Atiku’s supporter, describing Senator Barau, who facilitated it, as a real general.

“You are welcome to our party. We are formally receiving you now. But as I have been informed, after the fasting period, all your members will gather here in Abuja, under the leadership of the distinguished Senator Barau, so that we invite Mr President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Vice President himself, where we will have the Senate President and the Right Honorable Speaker, to formally receive all your members to register the death, the collapse, the disappearance of the PDP in Nigeria, not only in the northern part of this country.

“I saw one clip that is trending. Soon, we will have elections in Anambra State. Each political party plans to get its candidates for the contest in the governorship election. But I have seen that PDP has extended its screening deadline because nobody has shown up for the contest. The extension has also expired. And nobody has showed up for the contest. So I don’t need to tell you, it is a crumbling party.

” We are the greatest beneficiary of the crumbling party. So we welcome you honestly. We welcome you to a party with a progressive ideology. To a party that believes in the rule of law. To the party that believes in internal democracy. To the party that believes in engagement. To the party that says no discrimination.

” We are the most peaceful party in Nigeria—the most peaceful party in Africa. Because we believe in internal democracy, ” he said.

He commended the Deputy President of the Senate for encouraging people from other political parties to join APC.

” We have seen that distinguished Senator Barau is going beyond Kano. He is liberating those people, especially those who are committed to democracy. He is convincing them to join our party, not only from Kano State, not only from the northern part of this country, but from the whole country. So the distinguished Senator Barau is a real general. So we assure you, Allah will provide his ambition,” he said.

  • Communicate decisions before implementation of any policy – APC chieftain cautions governors

Communicate decisions before implementation of any policy – APC chieftain cautions governors

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Ambassador Abayomi Nurain Mumuni has advised governors across the country to communicate decisions to the citizens before such decisions are implemented.

Mumuni made this declaration while reacting to the recent closure of public schools in some states.

Recalls that some northern states, including Kano, Kebbi, Katsina, and Bauchi, have directed that all schools remain closed during Ramadan.

Our correspondent reports that some stakeholders have kicked against the closure.

Mumuni in his reaction advised the state governors to provide clear and timely information regarding the closure.

The APC chieftain while speaking said that it is essential to communicate the reasons for the closure more effectively to the public.

The APC chieftain in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Rasheed Abubakar, a copy of which was made available to journalists on Friday said that adequate information can help alleviate any confusion and ensure that parents, students, and the broader community fully understand the rationale for this short closure.

“I hope this release finds us well. I am writing to address the recent school closures in some parts of the northern states of Nigeria during Ramadan. It is my understanding that the decision to temporarily close schools has been made to accommodate the children in the boarding sections who are observing fasting during this holy month.

“While I appreciate the intention behind this decision, I believe it is essential to communicate the reasons for the closure more effectively to the public. Adequate information can help alleviate any confusion and ensure that parents, students, and the broader community fully understand the rationale for this short closure.

“Many parents may be unaware of the challenges fasting poses for children, especially in a boarding school environment. The inability to properly manage their daily activities while fasting can impact their health and academic performance. Thus, the school’s decision to prioritize the well-being of the students is commendable.

“To foster better understanding and community support, I recommend that the school or relevant authorities provide clear and timely information regarding the closure. This could include:

“Official announcements detailing the reasons for the closure. Guidance for parents, on how to support their children while they observe fasting.

“Opportunities for community engagement, to discuss any concerns or questions. By enhancing communication around this issue, we can ensure that the community feels informed and involved, reducing any potential misunderstandings”.
