BBNAIJA: Focus on entertainment not just romance, Adekunle urges fans

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Adekunle has expressed frustration with the way fans are engaging with the current season of the show.

According to him, the excessive focus on relationships, potential ships, and drama is overshadowing the entertainment value of the program.

According to Adekunle, fans should shift their attention to appreciating the diverse personalities and talents of the housemates.

He notes that with 26 contestants in the house, more than half of whom are incredibly entertaining, there’s a wealth of content to enjoy beyond romantic storylines.

Adekunle also reminds fans that everything happening in the house is part of a game, where contestants are playing roles to achieve their goals and by fixating on a handful of housemates and their relationships, fans are diluting the potential of the season.

Adekunle’s request fans to enjoy the show in its entirety, taking in the various curated events, like the pool party and wager presentation, which are designed to enhance the viewer’s experience.

He wrote on X: “You guys aren’t enjoying this show and it sucks. I haven’t watched the show since Wednesday, and I hoped to get updates on the TL. But instead, it’s talk about alleged ships, potential ships and the drama within the triangles.

“There are 26 people in that house and more than half of them are incredibly entertaining. THIS IS AN ENTERTAINMENT SHOW, not a show about love. I’m genuinely asking now, because I don’t get it. What exactly is the entertaining value in
-boy likes girl, boy goes after girl.
-girl likes the attention, girl plays hard to get.
-boy talks to other girls, girl talks to other boys. Yes, it’s a storyline, but come on guys !

“There has been 9 seasons of the show and only a handful of ships have been successful afterwards. Year in, year out you guys always do this. FOCUS ON SHIPS – especially the ones that are unlikely to sail, WHY?

“Remember that everyone in that house is playing a game. Some people get in there knowing exactly what they want to do. Others figure it out while they’re in there, while others have to constantly remind themselves where they are and that – it’s all still a game.

“There was a pool party, a wager presentation and other things this week. These things are curated for the viewers experience. Allow yourselves to be entertained by EVERYTHING, not just the drama. Don’t make these housemates come out and pretend to be something they’re not just because they want to satisfy the fans.

“This season has the potential to be one of the best, but we’ll dilute it if we focus on just a handful of the housemates. Let’s enjoy the SHOW. Let’s focus on ENTERTAINMENT!”

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Adekunle has praised current housemate Mensan’s strategy, calling it “the best this season”.

Stating his opinion on X, Adekunle said Mensan’s bold entrance, eccentric fashion sense, and entertaining antics are evidence of his clever gameplay.

He noted that Mensan’s use of popular slang, like “pressurrreeee”, adds to his appeal.

He said: “You know what, let’s talk about it. Mensan actually has the best strategy this season. Since his very loud entrance that everyone talked about, to his daily style of wearing the strangest of things. Because tell me why at midnight he’s still dressed in this tie, red socks and office shoe and he’s wearing an apron trying to make dinner.

Ka3na cries out over single motherhood struggles

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Ka3na Jones has opened up about the challenges of being a single mother after losing her husband early in life.

In an emotional Instagram post, Ka3na shared her struggles with anxiety, grief, and the weight of solo parenting, contradicting the common notion that things get easier with time.

She expressed feelings of anger, exhaustion, and frustration, often wishing for someone to share the burden.

She wrote: “I don’t believe I can even get used to being a single parent. This shit is hard.

“They say it gets easier with time. Lies!
They only grow—the anxiety, the grief, the responsibility, the sacrifices!

“TRUST ME. Nobody ever tells you, “Hey Katie, this amazing man you’re about to marry only has five more years to live, make every second count.” Or, “Don’t rush into having kids… he’s going to die and leave you a widow and a single mother in your prime”.

“Would I have done anything differently if I knew? Honestly, no. Because I can’t imagine my world right now without my baby girl. I Miss Mr. Jones every passing day

“But am I angry sometimes? Tired? Worn out? Yes. Do I wish someone would just look at me and say, “Katie, take a break… I got this? Absolutely!!! I. Am. Tired”.
