    Chelsea offer Terry contract extension

Chelsea on Friday confirmed club captain, John Terry, has been offered a new one-year contract, though no agreement has been reached.

The centre-back revealed in January that he could leave the Blues, having received no communication over a new contract, and has been expected to bring an end to a 21-year association with the west London side, Goal reports.

However, Chelsea at a press conference on Friday maintained that the former England captain’s future had not been decided and a new deal had been presented to him.

And the interim coach, Guus Hiddink, who said this week that Terry is good enough to remain at the club, said he believes the decision to offer him a new deal is the right one.

“Ex-players are having a lot of say in the culture of a club,” the Dutchman said. “They like to come back in whatever task they can do – I am in favour of that.”

UEFA Champions League: Why I fouled Lucas – Mikel

Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has defended his role in Paris Saint-Germain’s opening goal in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League last-16 first leg tie in Paris, insisting he had to foul the French club attacker, Lucas Moura.

The midfielder was penalised for bringing down the Brazilian just over 25 yards from goal, before turning his back on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s strike which deflected off him and into the net.

The Super Eagles star later scored the equalizer for Chelsea in first half stoppage time, taking advantage of slack defending in the PSG penalty area to fire home.

“I had to fall in because Lucas was going deeper and deeper into our 18-yard box,” Goal quoted Mikel as saying to BT Sport. “I had to – if not get the ball – foul him, which I did.

“Then the free kick just skipped off my feet and went into the back of the net. But we came back strong as well. But we’re very disappointed to have lost the game.”

Disallowed goal against Chelsea: Ighalo Unperturbed

    • Says more goals will come

Despite the English FA’s decision to deduct one of his goals in the EPL, Super Eagles and Watford striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has asserted that he is not bothered about it and that he is 100 per cent super charged for tonight’s MatchDay 21 tie against Southampton at the Saint Mary’s Stadium.

The English FA while explaining the rationale behind the chalk off goal said that even though Ighalo was behind the strike, it was heavily deflected by Branislav Ivanovic beyond the gaping hands of Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Cortois for Watford’s temporary lead before a late equaliser by the Stamford Bridge landlords.

Speaking on the development to SportingLife, Ighalo opined that he had taken the English FA’s verdict in good fate and he is very focused on their next league tie at the Saint Mary’s Stadium today.

He told SportingLife that the disallowed goal would only spur him on to target at least a goal against Southampton and also aim at getting as many goals as possible before the end of the season.

“I have heard the verdict of the FA and I have taken it in my strides.

I don’t have a problem with it at all. I hope to get more goals before the end of the season starting with tomorrow(today)’s game against Southampton.

“I can never be disappointed because I know I will still get more goals. I know what I am capable of doing and with God on my side more goals will come,” Ighalo told SportingLife.

Ighalo has scored 13 goals from 20 league matches this season and his goals have helped Watford to ninth spot on the log with 29 points from

    20 matches.

  • Chelsea will make top four – Mikel

Chelsea will make top four – Mikel

Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Obi, will not rule out Chelsea finishing in the top four in the English Premier League, although the club lies in the relegation zone.

“We have to win every game now. The top four is still achievable, we can still do it so why not? It is not beyond our reach,” africanFootball.com quoted Mikel as saying on Chelsea website.

“The cups are always important as well. We are still in the Champions League, the FA Cup is going to start very soon so we have to take those very seriously at the same time. But we also want to concentrate on the league because we know we have to push up the table.”

Mikel became the 21st player to make 350 appearances in Chelsea’s 110- year history after coming on as a second-half substitute in the 2-2 draw with Watford on Boxing Day.

“I want to push on and see how many more appearances I can get. For me it has been a great time here.

“I still enjoy it and ever since I walked into this football club, I knew this was the place for me,” he said.

  • Chelsea sack Mourinho

    Chelsea sack Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Chelsea after a meeting with the club’s hierarchy on Thursday.

The 52-year-old ended his second stint at Stamford Bridge with the team languishing in 16th place in the Premier League, registering just 15 points from 16 games, Goal reports.

The club’s latest defeat, a 2-1 loss to Leicester City on Monday, capped a poor start to the season that leaves the reigning Premier League champions 16th in the Premier League.

Mourinho has been under increasing pressure in recent weeks as the club slumped to nine defeats in 16 league games, following a 2015-16 campaign in which Chelsea swept to the title.

After the latest defeat to Leicester, the Portuguese manager publicly criticised his players, suggesting that members of the playing squad had “betrayed” him and indicating his belief that last season’s form was due to excellent managerial performances, raising the players above their natural level.

    • As Man City, West Ham pull out of race

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Chelsea are leading the race to sign Golden Eaglets sensation Kelechi Nwakali but face serious competition from Udinese, Olympiakos and one of the powerhouses of Portuguese football.

Manchester City and West Ham have both been credited with an interest for the talented teenager but it can be revealed that they have pulled out of the race due to problems they will encounter in securing a work permit for the player, while there have not been any positive feedback from Arsenal.

“We are in contact with Chelsea, Udinese and Olympiakos. We have to wait and discuss with all the clubs, then, decide with the family and academy, ” Klay Ekeocha told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“Udinese made a ridiculous offer of 800,000 euros for the Most Valuable Player of the FIFA U-17 World Cup.”

The Belgian – based agent added: “We are working hard for the player, his family and academy. City and West Ham are no longer involved because of work permit issues.

“We got in touch with Arsenal and there’s no feedback yet.”

According to FIFA, Nwakali was the standout player at the FIFA U-17s after helping the Golden Eaglets win the tourney for the fifth time, with three goals and three assists to his name in seven matches.

Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal chase Osimhen

The bonafide representative of Golden Eaglets star, Victor Osimhen has provided an update on the transfer situation of the Ultimate Strikers product, who is being courted by a clutch of clubs across Europe.

Allnigeriasoccer.com can report with certainty that a foreign – based intermediary, who is linked with English Premier League, Spanish and French teams will jet into Lagos on Tuesday,  November 10 to hold transfer talks with Ultimate Strikers and Osimhen.

“So many clubs in Europe have contacted us for Osimhen but we don’t want to rush, we have to take our time ” Osimhen’s representative told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“It is important for the Golden Eaglets to win the Cup and if the team succeeds, more teams will want him.

“Yes,we have received calls from several Premier League clubs but the Premier League is not the best in the world.”

Osimhen’s intermediary has kept the identities of the clubs a secret but this website can exclusively inform that Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all approached him as regards to snapping up the highly – rated starlet.

A transfer fee of one million pounds is being bandied about by the Nigerian media, but that is far from reality as Ultimate Strikers have demanded more than two million pounds or nothing before they agree to cancel their agreement with Osimhen.

And that makes sense, bearing in mind that the transfer fee has to be as high as possible before he can obtain a work permit in England using the new system.

Victor Osimhen, who has scored in six straight games at the FIFA Under 17s, has been likened to Barcelona and Uruguay star Luis Suárez.

  • Chelsea behind Mourinho – Mikel

    Chelsea behind Mourinho – Mikel

Super Eagles midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has said the Chelsea players are behind embattled manager Jose Mourinho, stating the Portuguese can improve the Premier League champions’ fortunes.

Mikel was part of the Blues side that lost 1-3 at home to Liverpool on Saturday to further increase the pressure on the coach after six defeats in 11 league outings, Goal reports.

Four points from three Champions League games and a League Cup exit at the hands of Stoke City have added to Mourinho’s difficult campaign, with reports suggesting an element of unhappiness in the Chelsea dressing room.

But Mikel said, “We are right behind the manager. There’s no doubt about it.

“In training we work very hard. If anyone can turn this around, we definitely think Mourinho is the one.

“Last year we were champions. We won two trophies. Jose knows this club more than any other manager. He’s the most successful manager in the club’s history.

“I definitely think that, if anything is wrong, if anything can be fixed, he is the one.”

As speculation regarding Mourinho’s future continues to swirl, former Chelsea bosses Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti are said to be targets over a short-term return to the club.

However, Mikel maintains any desire to see an end to Mourinho’s second reign at Chelsea comes from outside the dressing room.
