    Skales dissociates from Dammy Krane’s album release

    Afrobeat singer Skales has dissociated himself from colleague, Dammy Krane’s new album release after facing backlash from some internet users.

    A social media user has expressed disappointment with Afrobeat singer Skales for appearing on a track with Dammy Krane, which the user believes was aimed at Davido

    However, Skales clarified on X that the track in question is over 10 years old and released without his and Runtown’s permission.

    The misconception comes hot on the heels of Dammy Krane’s album release, which shares the same title and release date as Davido’s album. 

    Skales has stated that the track will be taken down.

    The X user Dblackspiderman wrote: “mehn @youngskales lost my respect jumpin on a track with dammykrane to step on davidos 5ive, crazy stuff mehn!”

    Skales responded writing: “That track is from over 10 years ago … it was released without myself and Runtown’s permission on dsp’s … it will be taken down”.

    In a video shared on Instagram, the duo said the album’s title represents “5-Hpower,” which they interpreted as a symbol of high tension and unbeatable quality.

    Davido releases fifth studio album titled ‘5ive’

    Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has released his fifth studio album titled,  ‘5ive’

    The News Agency og Nigeria reports that as part of prelude to the release of ‘5ive’, the singer had previously dropped three singles, ‘Be There Still’, ‘Funds’, featuring Odumodublvck and Chike and ‘Awuke’ featuring YG Marley.

    The 17 track project includes features from artistes like Chris Brown, Omah Lay, Victony, Becky G, Shensea amongst others.

    In one of the previously released track titled ‘Funds’, Davido gives his signature energy on the track while Odumodublvck’s gritty verses complements Chile’s smooth melodies.

    ‘Titanium’ which features Chris Brown, they speaks about a lover who tries to break them down emotionally, as ‘Offa Me’ featuring Victoria Monet speaks want his lover in a sexual way while ‘Nuttin Dey’ boasts of his confidence and longevity.

    ‘5ive’ arrives two years after his last studio album titled ‘Timeless’ which reached number on Billboard’s World Albums Chart.

    Davido unveils tracklist for fifth studio album ‘5ive’

    Grammy-nominated singer Davido has revealed the tracklist for his highly anticipated fourth studio album, “5ive”. 

    The tracklist showcases a diverse range of collaborations with both local and international artists.

    “Legacy is not what you leave behind, but what you breathe into the future. 72 hours away! Thank you for the love & support,” Davido wrote on Instagram.

    Nigerian talents like Victony, Odumodublvck, Chike, and Omah Lay are featured on the album, alongside Caribbean stars YG Marley, Shenseea, and 450.

    Davido has also collaborated with international artists such as Chris Brown, Victoria Monet, and Becky G, for a more global appeal.

    Other notable features include South African singer Musa Keys, who previously worked with Davido on the Grammy-nominated hit “Unavailable,” and French stars Dadju and Tay C.

    With 17 tracks set to drop in less than 72 hours, “5ive” promises to be a fusion of Afrobeats and global sounds.

    The album is set for release, April 18, 2025.

    Grammy-nominated singer Davido has revealed that his 2012 breakout hit, “Dami Duro,” was the defining moment that changed the course of his music career.

    In an interview on Power 105.1 FM in the United States, Davido shared that the song’s massive popularity caught the attention of Nigeria’s then-President, Goodluck Jonathan, and his own father, Deji Adeleke, who had previously opposed his music ambitions.

    According to Davido, his father had even deployed the police and military in attempts to shut down his early shows. 

    However, the overwhelming success of “Dami Duro” not only softened his father’s disapproval but also reportedly led to the song becoming President Jonathan’s ringtone.

    Davido credited the track with turning things around and securing his father’s support for his music career.

    The music star and his father now share a close bond, with his father not only attending his shows but also actively involved in his business ventures.

    Davido described their relationship as stronger than ever, noting that they’ve gone from a once-strained connection to becoming “best friends.”

    “Before then, my dad was using the police and army to stop my show and arrest show promoters, artists and everyone connected to any show I am billed to perform in. But when ‘Dami Duro’ became a huge success… I think it was the President’s ringtone. Someone told me. At that point, people started advising my dad to allow me do music.

    “I went further and accepted to return to school. I said I didn’t have to run away, that I should have spoken to him. No way, I was younger then and he was unapproachable. I told him I was scared of him. Then I was a kid. Now, we are best friends, we talk about everything. He comes to all my shows. He is very involved in my business.”

    NDLEA seizes 56kg of drugs, arrests 112 suspects in Ebonyi

    The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ebonyi State Command, has announced the seizure of 55.947 kilograms of various illicit drugs and the arrest of 112 suspects in the first quarter of 2025.

    State Commander of the NDLEA, Peter Ogar, made this known to reporters on Wednesday in Abakaliki. He said the arrests and seizures took place across multiple locations in the state between January and March.

    According to Ogar, the 112 suspects comprise 85 males and 27 females, aged between 16 and 76 years. He noted that they include drug dealers, users, and traffickers.

    He further disclosed that the agency counselled 59 individuals within the same period—45 males and 14 females—aged between 21 and 76.

    The seized substances included 43.582kg of cannabis sativa, 0.004kg of tramadol tablets, 0.400kg of tramadol 100mg (1,189 capsules), and 0.207kg of diazepam (988 tablets).

    Ogar reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to intensifying the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in the state.

    “Others are monkey tail, 11.2 litres/11.2kg, methamphetamine, 0.054kg,  bromazepam, 46 tablets, 0.020kg, pentazocine inj. 84 Amps, 0.244kg, heroin, 0.014, and other psychotropic substances grossly weighing 55.947 kgs in all,” Ogar explained.

    He added that during the period under review, four persons were convicted.

    “The Command further arrested one suspect during it raid operation witha  locally fabricated pistol. The suspect was transferred to the police for further action,” he stated.

    The Commander reiterated the command commitment to the fight against drug abuse and called for more stakeholder support to curtail the unlawful act.

    He said they had organised a series of workshops and sensitisation campaigns against drug abuse across Ebonyi’s 13 local governments, especially for the youths and secondary school students.

    Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star Davido has opened up about the challenges women brought into his career, admitting that his past lifestyle caused him more problems than pleasure.

    He, however, said that getting married has helped him find peace and curb his womanising habits.

    Speaking on ‘The Breakfast Club’, Davido shared that his team has noticed a change in his behaviour since he tied the knot, so much so that some have jokingly complained that things have become “boring.”

    “The other day, I walked in on my boys talking, and I asked what the conversation was about. They said, ‘Boss, we’re not having any fun. You’ve changed. Where are the girls?” Davido recalled. “I told them, ‘Where are the girls? When I get into trouble, everybody disappears and leaves me to deal with the internet alone. Nah.”

    He candidly admitted that women had “dealt with” him over the years and said he’s no longer interested in the chaos that came with that lifestyle.

    “I’ve had five kids with four different women. That came with a lot of challenges,” he said. “But I’m good now. Trust me, I’ve been at the highest of the highest. The best time is when there’s no problem at all. I don’t care how much money you have—there’s nothing like peace of mind.”

    Davido’s decision to settle down marks a shift in focus, as he now prioritizes a quieter, more stable life away from the drama of his past.

    Superstar singer Davido has stated that he is the most disrespected artist in the history of Nigerian music.

    Speaking in an interview on The Breakfast Club podcast, Davido expressed how his global success has been the subject of constant criticism, especially on social media. 

    “I think in the history of Nigeria, I think I am the most bashed and disrespected artiste. In Nigeria, if you are the son of a successful man, you gonna get it. “. He said

    Reflecting on the harsh realities of fame, he advised aspiring artists to avoid reading online comments. 

    “I tell new artists to stop reading comments,” he said.

    Born by a wealthy billionaire father and his mother coming from a humble background, Davido had a unique upbringing.

    Acknowledging the skepticism he faced as the son of a wealthy man, the idea that success could be inherited, rather than earned through talent , made it harder for him to gain respect.

    He also credited his family for providing him with the support and grounding needed to face the challenges of fame. 

    “I’m lucky for the type of people my family is. They’re cool people,” he said.

    Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed plans to hold his white wedding ceremony with his wife, Chioma, in August in Miami, USA.

    In an interview on The Breakfast Club, Davido confirmed the upcoming event, saying, “I’m doing my white wedding in Miami in August. Our traditional marriage shut down Nigeria because our relationship was in the public eye, and a lot has happened, apart from losing our child.”

    The announcement comes 10 months after their lavish traditional wedding, held in June 2024 at Eko Hotels in Lagos, which was attended by top celebrities and dignitaries.

    During the interview, Davido opened up about the strength of their relationship, including the tragic loss of their son, Ifeanyi, in 2022.
