    Cognac brand, Martell, has signed entertainment guru Oluwadamilare Adefioye aka Dray Way  as its new brand ambassador.

    Adefioye joins Davido as one of the ambassadors of the cognac brand.

    As a prominent player in the entertainment industry, Martell has dazzled entertainment enthusiasts with global brand ambassadors like Davido and Burna Boy.

    In a bid to continue growing their influence in key demographics in the entertainment industry, Martell has added Adefioye to their ranks.

    Oluwadamilare Adefioye is a dedicated and professional entrepreneur in the entertainment space with over 10 years of experience.

    He has worked in nightlife, events, music and hospitality spaces. Oluwadamilare has also worked on several projects for top music acts like Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tems, Mayorkun, Odumodu and Kizz Daniel to name a few.

    Oluwadamilare would describe himself as a serial entrepreneur, who has helped provide job opportunities in the entertainment and creative industry for over five hundred (500) young individuals in Abuja.

    Music industry lacks peace since I joined, says Davido

    Singer Davido has claimed the music industry has never been peaceful since he joined.

    Davido, who seems excited about the chaos in the industry, says he loves it.

    On his X handle, he wrote: “Since I came in the game dem never get peace .. I love it ! Make I find somewhere with beach go relax.”

    The DMW boss has previously alleged that some of his colleagues in the music industry are ganging up against him.

    “Me vs the industry! Love it!,” he wrote via X in 2022.

    Davido announced his entry into the music industry with ‘Back When’ and ‘Dami Duro’ the lead singles from his debut studio album, ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ (2012).

    Since then, he has risen to be one of the three leaders of the new school Afrobeats, alongside Wizkid and Burna Boy.

    Davido has stated in several interviews that he does not have a cordial relationship with Wizkid and Burna Boy.

    Award-winning singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has stated that his success in the entertainment industry isn’t tied to his wealthy background but values.

    Featuring on the American podcast ‘Business Untitled,’ Davido argued there are people from wealthier backgrounds who attempted to create a niche for themselves in the entertainment industry but weren’t as successful as he is.

    “There are many billionaires in Nigeria, even richer than my father… And there are people [billionaire’s children] who have tried to do what I have tried to do: music, entertainment, business. But mine has been successful because of my values,” he said.

    “The biggest challenge I had when I started music was that my father is wealthy. But I got accepted for one reason and that reason is that I am good, talented. I don’t think I would have ever been accepted if I wasn’t good at what I do”.

    Afrobeats singer Davido has recalled how billionaire father, Adedeji Adeleke, gave him the stage name. 

    Davido, in an interview with Business Untitled, said his father initially hesitated before supporting his music career.

    The Grammy-nominated singer said when his song played on the radio, his father heard it and started calling him “Davido”.

    “I do not think my dad is tough. I blew up when I was 17. Imagine a 17-year-old child and you could not reach him, my dad is the sole parent,” he said.

    “Like I told you, I am the first generation entertainer. I don’t think he did not want me to do music, he just want me to be successful.

    “So when I moved back to Nigeria, he did not know. Then he heard my voice on the radio, shouting Davido and he gave me that name. My dad gave me Davido….. He just wanted me to go to school which I eventually did.”

    In 2023, Davido revealed his father became overprotective of him after his mother’s death.

    He also opened up about his father’s influence on his financial decisions.

    Davido rose to fame with his 2012 hit ‘Dami Duro’.

    He has received several awards and recognitions for his talent.

    Popular singer Davido has boastfully stated that his family is responsible for the distribution of electricity to major parts of Nigeria.

    According to him, his family owns four power plants, which significantly contribute to Nigeria’s energy needs.

    Appearing on an American podcast, ‘Business Untitled,’ Davido spoke on his family business and personal investments.

    He said: “I once tried to go into cryptocurrency because Nigeria is big on crypto. Apart from that, me and my family have like four power plants worth a lot of money. We distribute energy to most of Nigeria.

    Award-winning singer Davido has followed some of his colleagues to denounce the afrobeats genre.

    He joined Wizkid, Burna Boy and Fireboy to denounce the popular genre. 

    Appearing on the latest edition of the Business Untitled Podcast, the ‘OBO’ crooner lamented the “boxing” of all African artists into the Afrobeats genre regardless of their musical styles.

    He said: “The first place that accepted African music outside Africa is the UK before America later joined. The UK termed African music Afrobeats.

    “Afrobeat is a sound that was originally pioneered by Fela Kuti. But now all African songs are termed Afrobeats. If an African artiste sings pure R&B, sounding like SZA, Summerwalker, they put them under Afrobeats. If an African rapper rapping like Drake, they still put them under Afrobeats.

    “I don’t get offend when we’ve been categorised as Afrobeats. I mean, we need a genre. It could be R&B or Afropop. I call my music Afrofusion but I’m not big on ‘O put Afrofusion on my song.’ I know how long it took for African music to become mainstream.”

    Grammy-nominated singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed his top three favourite artists.

    Davido was asked on an American podcast, Business Untitled, to name his favourite artists in terms of collaboration.

    He mentioned Chris Brown, Kizz Daniel and Zlatan Ibile. “I love working with Chris Brown, Kizz Daniel and Zlatan [Ibile],” he said.

    Davido also claimed he made $1.3 million from his recent concert at Madison Square Garden in New York.

    He added that he made $600,000 with a single post.

    The singer recalled how he made about $600,000 from his fans on his birthday in 2021 and later donated the money to charity.

    Award-winning singer, Davido has responded to an accusation against him by a producer, Napji.

    The Nation reported that the producer called out the singer, accusing him of refusing to pay his royalties.

    He wrote: “I am Napji, producer behind Fem, Jowo and sunlight on @davido album (A better time).Which was released 13th November 2020.

    I was paid an advance of N500,000 for each of the songs. I will be releasing more information as I seek to collect my royalties & publishing.”

    Reacting on Twitter, Davido slammed the producer.

    Quoting the post, Davido wrote: “Ur papa”.

    Grammy nominee and global Afrobeats star Davido has taken his philanthropic gestures a notch higher.

    On April 17, 2024 the Madison Square Garden in the heart of New York witnessed the generosity of the son of a Nigerian billionaire, Dr Adedeji Adeleke when he ‘blessed’ a female attendee of his concert with the sum of $50,000 (N50 million).

    As always, Davido didn’t just surprise the female attendee with the huge sum, it was borne out of his seeming genuine love to help those in need. During his performance at the capacity filled concert, he had spotted the attendee with a placard seeking for help in repaying her student loan.

    Upon seeing the placard amidst the audience, the DMW record label owner received it while on stage and demanded that the lady should come to stage, where he asked her the amount of the loan. The female fan stated that the student loan was over $103,000.

    However, Davido instructed one of his aides with the name Dayo to give her $50,000.

    The female attendee of the show had gotten used a ticket of $49.00 (N54, 478) to recoup her student loan repayment to the tune of $50,000 (N50 million).

    Grammy-nominated singer and music executive, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced that he will be moving his signees to a new record label, Nine+ Records, following a partnership with UnitedMasters to establish the label.

    The Nation reported that the deal would allow Davido to spearhead artist development and A&R for a lineup of Nigerian artists.

    Consequently, his former record label, Davido Music Worldwide, DMW, has been dissolved.

    Some of the artists currently signed to DMW include Dremo, Yonda, Peruzzi, Idowest from Lagos Island, DJ Ecool, Danagog, B-Red, Deekay, May D, Deinde, Ayanfe, Liya, Morravey, SayTheyCallMESG and Logos Olori.

    In a post via his handle, Davido disclosed that all the artists currently signed to DMW will move to Nine+ Records.

    He wrote: “All DMW artists would be moved to Nine+ records …. Clearing the air!”
