    Davido set to launch new label with UnitedMasters

    Grammy-nominated singer Davido is embarking on a new journey in his music business with an American distribution franchise, UnitedMasters.

    The Grammy nominee has partnered with UnitedMasters to form Nine+ Records, a label that will expand beyond Afrobeats to include hip-hop, R&B, Latin, and country genres.

    The billboard said on Instagram:  “Davido is embarking on a new chapter in his career as a as a full-fledged executive.

    “The three-time Grammy nominee has signed a deal with UnitedMasters (which recently launched in Nigeria) to start a new label called Nine+ Records, which will cast not just Afrobeats talent but will venture into the realms of hip-hop, R&B, Latin, country and more.⁠”

    Captioning the UnitedMasters CEO Steve Stoute statement about the new venture, they added: “I see [Davido] as an entrepreneur that could build the next Bad Boy, the next Death Row and the next label that has a significant impact like a Cash Money.”

    Grammy-nominated singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has asserted that he is the greatest of all time (GOAT) in the Nigerian music industry.

    The Nation reported that Davido downplayed the comparison between himself, Burna Boy, and Wizkid as they are often referred to as the ‘big three’ of afrobeat music lovers.

    In a TikTok video shared by British-Nigerian content creator Shopsydoo, Davido bragged about being the only “GOAT” in Nigeria.

    “There is only one GOAT in my country and it’s me,” he boasted.

    Davido had recently stated on an American show, Sway’s Universe, that contrary to assumptions that he, Wizkid, and Burna Boy are currently the three biggest Afrobeats stars in the world, he is the only big Afrobeats artiste.

    Contrary to assumption that he, Wizkid, and Burna Boy are the three biggest Afrobeats in the world, he asserted that he is the only big Afrobeats artiste.

    He stated this recently on an American show, Sway’s Universe.

    Grammy-nominated singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has envisioned a future collaboration with Barbadian singer, Rihanna.

    Speaking in a recent interview with ‘Sway’s Universe’, the singer disclosed that apart from Chris Brown, he won’t “disturb” himself for any other American collaboration.

    The ‘Feel’ crooner highlighted Rihanna’s endorsement of his track ‘Unavailable’ as her favourite, indicating his keenness to collaborate with her.

    He said: “Aside from Chris Brown, I’m not going to disturb myself for any other American collaboration. Rihanna said ‘Unavailable’ is her best song, so I’m waiting to work with her.”

    He added that his collaboration with Chris Brown on ‘Blow My Mind’ represents a significant milestone in the fusion of Afrobeats and American music, likening its impact to that of Drake and Wizkid’s ‘One Dance.’

    “Blow My Mind’ with Chris Brown was the first US x Afrobeats collaboration to go crazy aside ‘One Dance’,” he stated.

    The celebrity singer stated that he dislikes men who wear skirts.

    He said he would never wear a skirt but may reconsider if he is offered half a million dollars.

    Davido disclosed this in a recent interview with American fashion content creator, Mysterious Fashioniest.

    The interviewer asked: “What’s one fashion trend you dislike?”

    He said: “Skirt; men that wear skirts. I will never wear a skirt. Except if I am offered half a million or a million dollars.”

    Grammy-nominated singer Davido has denied rumours of an arrest in Uganda and Kenya.

    He shared a post on his X page, imploring fans and followers to disregard the false rumors.

    The singer noted that he has never been arrested by anyone for any crime abroad or at home.

    He further stated that his lawyers were seeking legal recourse against the media houses that published the report.

    According to him: “Fam, it has come to my attention that false information regarding an arrest circulated online on April 1st, which has since led to a barrage of calls. I want to assure my fans that these ports are entirely untrue.

    “I successfully completed my scheduled shows in Uganda and Kenya and have since returned home to Nigeria. I’d also like to note that I have never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world. Not my home Nigeria, my home America, or any of the hundreds of countries I have made home throughout my career.

    “I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’ ,and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for this misinformation. Thank you for your continued support. Our blessings are from God. I love you all. Sincerely, Davido”.

    Davido unfollows Rexxie after Grammy shades

    Afrobeats superstar Davido has swiftly unfollowed record producer, Rexxie on Instagram after he stylishly shaded him with the Grammys.

    Rexxie, who claimed he earned nominations for his production credits on Burna Boy’s Grammy-winning album, ‘Twice As Tall’ and Angelique Kidjo and Burna Boy’s Grammy-nominated song, ‘Do Yourself’, bragged during a Twitter banter with a fan on Sunday that he got a Grammy nomination before Davido.

    He further boasted that he got Grammy nominations without using sympathy or dancing with kids in uniform like Davido.

    He wrote: “Before your fav get Grammy I’ve already gotten it. I did not use sympathy or dance with kids in uniform or attend the show early with my full squad and family members. Respect!”

    His post did not sit down well with Davido who immediately unfollowed him on social media.

    This is coming barely three weeks after Rexxie revealed that Davido reached out to him when he was recently detained in Uganda.

    Grammy-nominated singer, Davido, known for his artistic prowess has inaugurated a new course ‘Faculty of Music and Arts’ at the International University of East Africa (IUEA) in Kampala, Uganda.

    In a grand ceremony at the university, Davido was also honoured with a special award with the inscription, ‘Davido Hall’ symbolising the dedication of a newly constructed hall in his honour on the university campus.

    Following the announcement, the 30bg boss excited his fans across the globe, as the news was shared on various social media platforms.

    Launching the hall, the singer was seen cutting the ceremonial ribbon attached to a board displaying the name of the new faculty, signaling the official opening of the course.

    Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has given accolades to the ‘old cats’ like 2Baba, D’banj, and P-Square for paving the way for the current crop of Nigerian artists, like himself.

    He stated that the next generation would enjoy even more because of the sacrifices of him and his colleagues.

    Speaking in the latest episode of The Bridge Show, Davido recalled that when he got signed to an international record label in 2016, the label wanted him to start all over again because they didn’t realise that he was a superstar in Africa.

    He said: “When I first got signed to an international label, Sony in 2016… When we come and sign record deals overseas, they don’t know that we are superstars back home. I came straight from Mali where I performed at a 60,000-capacity stadium to sign the deal. But when you sign a new deal they want you to prove yourself again.

    “I told my manager that I am not starting again o! But then it takes time to understand that we are sacrificing now. What D’banj, P-Square, and 2Face sacrificed for us is what we are enjoying now. What we are sacrificing now the next generation will profit from it. The next generation would definitely be bigger because the [Nigerian] music is only going to grow bigger.”

    Grammy-nominated singer, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has revealed that he met his wife, Chioma Rowland when he had no money.

    In a recent interview on The Bridge Show, Davido disclosed that he met Chioma before he became a superstar.

    According to him, if he hadn’t met Chioma at that time, it would have been hard for him to get married now as he would feel every woman wants him for his money or status.

    Davido stated that he derives more joy knowing that his inner circle majorly consists of those who were with him before the fame and wealth.

    He said: “I have a friend, anytime I am on the phone with my wife, he would say he has everything in the world, but a wife is what he is missing.

    “I met my wife before I had money, but I was telling myself if I didn’t meet her before then and now I am single, and I meet a girl, it wouldn’t be the same. I would feel the lady is talking to me because I am Davido and I have money. My own success is when I see people around who were there when I had nothing and they see me now, that’s the feeling, not like when you blow up and start hanging out with a new set of people. You need to keep the people that were there with you since grinding.”
