    Gunmen kill two in Niger

    Gunmen have killed two unknown men in Agaie local government area of Niger state. The gunmen took away the victims personal effects.

    The bodies of the unknown men were found around Lapai Road close to Mashina village  in Agaie on Saturday.

    It was gathered from some construction workers the gunmen tied the necks of the victims with electric wires and beat them up leading to their death.

    The bodies were discovered by some motorists who reported the incident to the Agaie Social Welfare Officials who took the bodies to the hospital where they were confirmed dead.

    Residents of Agaie have put up the pictures of the victims on the social media, calling for their identification.

    Efforts to get the Niger Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, on the incident were not successful.

    Gunmen invade Bwari kill one, kidnap two

    It was a sad day for residents of Gaba, a community under Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) when gunmen invaded the community.

    According to findings, the gunmen numbering over six invaded the village around 12: 15am on Wednesday killed one person and kidnapped two others.

    A government official, who resides in the community told our correspondent that two persons were kidnapped and one killed.

    A top police source, who confirmed the incident, said the Police were on their trail of the bandits.

    He decried the threat of informants within the community, saying it is a source of worry.

    The security source said there are active informants living with the people and more needs to be done to fish the informants out.

    Gaba, is the village where the current Chairman of Bwari Area Council, John Gabaya hails from. 

    All efforts to get the reaction of the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh were futile as calls and messages put across to her were not responded to.

    Five killed in gunmen, JSF battle

    About five persons were reportedly killed on Tuesday in a gun battle between security operatives and gunmen in Anambra State.

    The Anambra Joint Security Force (JSF) raided two different camps of the gunmen in Aguluezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area and Ogboji in Orumba South. 

    Items like locally-fabricated rocket launcher, charms, police uniforms among others were recovered.

    Police spokesperson Ikenga Tochukwu did not mention the number of people who died or were injured, but it was gathered that four gunmen and one policeman died. 

    Tochukwu added that a hunt for the gunmen had  been extended to Obofia Forest, Aguluezechukwu and Ogboji areas.

    He said: “On April 2, police-led Forward Operating Base struck the insurgents camps in the aforementioned areas. The insurgents were engaged in fierce firefight and were routed from their enclaves which were subsequently destroyed.

    “High calibre ammunitions, cartridges, a locally-fabricated rocket launcher, police uniforms and one Ford Pick-Up Truck without number plates were recovered.

    “The Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, who ordered the operation, has vowed that it would be sustained until the insurgents are completely routed from Anambra State.”

    Gunmen strike kill one in Abeokuta

    A man, Olumide Danisa Ifeoluwa popularly known as ‘Tescom’, has been killed outside his house on Easter Day in a drive-by shooting at Somefun Ijeun Tuntun area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

    The two gunmen who drove-by in an unmarked Toyota Corolla vehicle released volley of shots on Olumide while he was sitting outside his house around 19:55 hours yesterday and sped away from the scene.

    The panic -stricken residents, it was gathered, also fled and returned moments later to meet Olumide in a pool of blood.

    Sources said the bullets hit him on the head and he slumped immediately.

    The police also confirmed that the assailants shot him on the head.

    The Ogun Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, who confirmed this on Monday, said the Ibara Divisional Police Headquarters received distress calls of a shooting incident around the Somefun Ijeun Tuntun in Abeokuta on March 31, which led to the death of one Olumide Danisa.

    Odutola said the Divisional Police Officer rushed to the scene and found the remains of Olumide Ifeoluwa lying lifeless on the ground and in a pool of blood.

    According to her, the victim was evacuated to the State Hospital Ijaiye where the duty doctor confirmed him dead while his remains were later moved to the Hospital morgue for autopsy.

    She said: “Following a distress call received by the Ibara Divisional Police Officer, that the community heard gunshots. The DPO raced to the scene and found a corpse later identified as Olumide Danisa Ifeloluwa “Tescom” on the pool of his blood lying lifeless.

    “It was gathered that the deceased was shot in the head by two gunmen who alighted from an unregistered Toyota Corolla vehicle, ash Colour, and released shots while Olumide was sitting outside his house at about 19:55hrs of 31/3/24, and fled the scene.

    “The victim was rushed to the State Hospital Ijaiye where the duty doctor confirmed him dead. His remains have been evacuated to the Hospital morgue for autopsy.

    “No arrest has been made, but the Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun psc has been briefed and he has directed the Area Commander Metro Abeokuta to commence a preliminary investigation.”

    Gunmen invade Ogun church, abduct two worshippers

    Some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly attacked a Celestial Church in Ogun State and abducted two worshippers.

    The abducted worshippers were identified as Oluboboye Abiola and Oladapo Seyifunmi.

    According to a statement released by the state Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, a Superintendent of Police (SP), the incident occurred at the church situated near Oriyarin village, Mowe in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State on Thursday.

    Odutola said in the statement released yesterday that the gunmen fled through a thick forest behind the church.

    The statement reads: “Suspected kidnapping: Report at my disposal reveals that on 28/3/2024, unidentified gunmen invaded a Celestial Church around Oriyarin village Mowe and abducted one Oladapo Seyifunmi andu Oluboboye Abiola and escaped through the thick forest behind the church.

    “The Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodun, has been briefed, and he has ordered immediate mobilisation of security personnel to go after the hoodlums.”

    Gunmen shoot woman to death in Imo

    Gunmen on Friday shot a women identified as Mrs Stainless dead in Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State. 

    She was killed during an attack in the community. 

    While the motive behind the killing remains unclear, a community source suggested that the woman may have been targeted by assassins.

    According to the source: “The woman met her untimely demise on Friday, March 29, 2024, in Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom, Oguta LGA, Imo State, at the hands of unidentified gunmen suspected to be hired killers.”

    Another village source attributed the killing to a dispute over a parcel of farmland bequeathed by their late grandfather in Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom. 

    Imo police spokesman Henry Okoye was yet to issue a statement on the incident as of the time of filing this reporting.

    JUST IN: Gunmen kill two police operatives, bomb patrol vehicle in Imo

    At least two police officers were killed when gunmen attacked their patrol vehicle along old Gariki Road Okigwe in Imo State.

    The incident, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, occurred when the personnel  of MOPOL 18, Owerri were ambushed while on patrol duty.

    The gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate Eastern Security Network (ESN) were said to have thrown dynamite on the officers’ patrol vehicle and engaged them in a protracted gunfight.

    It was learnt in the process, two officers were killed while four others sustained multiple injuries.

    Confirming the incident, Imo Police spokesman, Henry Okoye said: “The state Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma has condemned the attack and gruesome murder of personnel of Mopol 18, Owerri, by gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate Eastern Security Network (ESN). 

    “The officers were ambushed in the early hours of today, 23/03/2024 while on patrol duties along old Gariki Road Okigwe by the disgruntled elements who threw dynamite on the officer’s patrol vehicle and engaged them in a protracted gunfight. In the process, two officers paid the ultimate price while four others survived the attack.”

    He said the police boss with Commander Mopol 18 and 64, immediately led operatives of the Command’s Special Tactical Unit to the crime scene for on-the-spot assessment and tasked the operatives to go all out in synergy with other security agencies and hunt down the hoodlums responsible for the attack.

    Police raid gunmen hideout in Ebonyi kill three, arrest five others

    The Ebonyi state police command said on Friday, March 22, that its operatives raided the camp of hoodlums terrorising the state, killing three of them and arresting five others.

    A statement by the spokesperson of the command, Joshua Ukandu said the raid was carried out in conjunction with other security agencies in a forest located at Omini community in Izzi LGA of the state.

    He said the gunmen on sighting the security operatives opened fire which led to a shootout during which three of the gunmen were neutralised.

    The statement reads in part: “Ebonyi State Police Command acting on credible intelligence in a joint operation with sister security agencies on 21st March 2024 stormed an unknown gunmen hideout in a forest within Omini community in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State.

    “The hoodlums on sighting the operatives opened fire on them and in the ensuing gun duel 3 members of the proscribed group were neutralized, 5 were arrested while others escaped.”

    Ụkandu said three Toyota Sienna Vehicles snatched from different individuals and used by the hoodlums to perpetrate heinous crimes were recovered at the camp.

    Exhibits recovered at the den indicated that the gang is responsible for the recent attacks and killing of police officers within the state.

    “Items recovered from them include one (1) AK47 rifle with sixteen (16) rounds of live ammunition, A bag containing two thousand (2,000) rounds of live ammunition, a Police Warrant Card, a portrait of an unidentified person, One (1) Itel phone and One (1) motorcycle”

    The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Augustina Ogbodo as commending the officers involved in the operation for their gallantry.

    She further assured the residents of the state of the command’s readiness to fight against crime and ensure adequate protection of lives and properties in the state.

    Gunmen rustle 73 cattle in Plateau

    Suspected gunmen Sunday evening attacked cattle rearers in Mila community, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, and rustled over 73 cattle.

    It was gathered the incident happened about 2pm.

    Chairman of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN) in Bokkos, Saleh Yusuf Adam, who confirmed the incident, said they had informed the Sector Five Commander of Operation Safe Haven in Bokkos.

    One of the cattle owners, Usman Hassan, who lost 45 cattle, said the gunmen arrived at the area and shot sporadically to scare the rearers away before taking the herd with them.

    Hassan called on security operatives, especially the Operation Safe Haven, to rescue their cattle.

    Spokesperson of the Operation Safe Haven maintaining peace in Plateau and some parts of Bauchi and Kaduna States, said he was not aware of the incident, but promised to get back. He was yet to do that as at last night.

    Gunmen kidnap, kill traditional ruler in Bauchi

    Suspected kidnappers have reportedly abducted and killed the traditional ruler of Riruwai village in Lame District, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Alhaji Garba Badamasi.

    The monarch was reportedly kidnapped from his palace on March 15 by gunmen who scared away residents with sporadic shooting.

    It was gathered that the gunmen did not contact any of his relatives for ransom payment.

    It was further gathered that Badamasi’s body was later found dead after a day in captivity.

    The body, which was dumped close to the village, was said to have been recovered by those who had embarked on a search in the surrounding bush.

    Police spokesperson Ahmed Wakili could not be reached for confirmation as at last night. He did not take his calls and also did not reply text messages.
