Indomie engages mothers in art contest
Indomie’s bid to strengthen the bond between mother and child through a creative art exhibition contest titled: ‘Team up with mum’ received a boost as the firm received 37,000 entries from six states.
Members of Indomie Fan Club in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Akure, Ogun and Benin, were required to team up with their mothers to use Indomie noodles wrappers and cartons to creative art works.
The one-month preparation for the art works ended on June 5 and the submitted entries were exhibited at the headquarters of Dufil Prima Foods (makers of indomie), Surulere last Saturday.
However, the Coordinator of the Indomie Fan Club, Mrs. Faith Joshua, said entries for the finished art works were still being accepted.
Entries received so far include canoes, shopping basket, laptops, electric cooker, shoes, Indomie Plaza, side tables, Indomie uniforms among others were displayed.
Mrs Joshua said the top three winners will receive N100,000, N75, 000 and N60, 000 as prizes.
She said the intent of the contest was to help children bond with their mothers.
“We realise that sometimes there is no bond between the kid and the mum that is why we titled this competition ‘team up with mum’. We want to create a relationship where there is no relationship between the mother and child. And where there is an existing relationship, we try to strengthen the bond and in essence the creativity in the child will be exposed,” she said.
She noted that the mothers embraced the initiative and thanked the management of Indomie for their support.

Indomie to reward brave pupils
Success is usually tied to academic excellence in the schools. However, for pupils who may not have topped their classes or won prizes but have done acts of bravery, mouth-watering prizes may be theirs if they win the Indomie Independence Day Award (IIDA) for Heroes of Nigeria.
The award, presented to children aged 15 and below, who have spontaneously saved lives and property, regardless of personal danger, displayed extraordinary creativity, is in its eighth edition.
At a briefing to announce the search for this year’s winners at the Protea Hotel, Lagos last Wednesday, Mr Deepak Singhal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie noodles, who was represented by the firm’s Public Relations Manager, Mr Tope Ashiwaju, said the award is aimed at recognising the ingenuity of young children in a world dominated by adult accomplishment.
“The IIDA initiative is significant because it is rooted in the recognition of those whose best efforts are very often overlooked. On a daily basis, our beloved Nigerian children perform thousands of heroic acts that save the lives and property of others at great personal risk to themselves. But the reality is that such acts of bravery often go unsung because the players involved are minors,” he said.
In searching for winners, Singhal said the company is not advertising to avoid children putting up acts that may endanger their lives. He said after nominees or applicants are shortlisted, a search committee would go to the nooks and crannies of Nigeria to investigate the heroic acts to establish their authenticity.
He said the shortlisted candidates also face a panel of judges who further screen for the finalists.
So far, 21 children from various parts of Nigeria have won the top three prizes of N1million, N750,000 and N500,000 scholarship grants. Their heroic acts include: saving people from drowning, rescuing accident/armed robbery victims, exposing robbers, kidnappers/ritualists, displaying creativity and entrepreneurial ingenuity, among others.
Singhal said he hoped the award, which holds around the Independence Day, would be recognised by the government and the children rewarded accordingly.

Winners in Indomie promo get ipads, others
Indomie manufactured by Dufil Prima Foods Ltd has given out 100 Iiged in the just concluded Indomitable Sticker Promo.
Other prizes given include 20,000 goody bags, 30,000 comic books and several other prizes. The promo which started late last year, witnessed huge participation from all across the country.
For the Indomitable Sticker Promo, participants were required to flash a particular code embedded in every Indomie pack. Once a participant flashed that code, the phone number is automatically saved in a database. Phone numbers are then randomly selected from the database for winners to emerge.
Its Brand Manager, Mr. Amber Yadav, said the motivation for the Indomitable Sticker promo was essentially to put smiles on the faces of consumers by giving them the opportunity to win fantastic prizes.
Manager Public Relations and Events Dufil, Mr. Tope Ashiwaju, said the promo was about making consumers happy. His words: “As a brand, there are so many things we have lined up for our consumers. Indomie will continue to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians”.
have doubted if our promos were genuine. To lend credibility and transparency to what we do, we have invited the press to this presentation to see everything. We urge all the winners to serve as our ambassadors in making people know that we are for real.”
Mrs. Blessing Ifenze, the parent of one of the winners, said she initially exercised doubts when they were informed that her child had won an Ipad. In her words, “I initially thought it was 419 when I was informed. But coming here today I have seen for myself that it is very credible. It is very encouraging and I really want to appreciate Indomie for this gesture”.
Also, Ifunaya Asoanya, one of the winners of an Ipad, said when she got the call that she had won an Ipad, her father doubted its authenticity and threatened to even seize her phone so she doesn’t fall prey to fraudsters.

Indomie celebrates pupils
As part of its activities to appreciate the children, who form the chunk of its indomie noodles consumers, Dufil Prima Food Plc, last week hosted members of the Indomie Fans’ Club to an end of the year party at the National Theatre Iganmu, Lagos.
The event, which was fun-filled, had several schools in Lagos State, both the kids and their teachers, present.
The co-ordinator, Indomie Fans’ Club, Faith Joshua, said the company holds the event yearly and as such, could not be described as ‘Christmas party’ because they have both Muslim and Christians as fan club members. Describing the kids as its main consumers, Joshua said the company deems it fit to bring them together and discover the talents in them for grooming.
“The club is actually an open thing, we say it to the schools and if they response to us we, make them our members. Indomie Fan Club has over 100,000 members and every year in all our programmes we actually host them and take care of them,” said Joshua
Speaking on the benefit of the club to the children she said: “When they participate in our competitions, they also review their educational skills and we groom the ones that are actually vital for us.
Under the avenue of indomie platform they have the opportunity to make new friends and associate with people from different classes.”
According to her, the same celebration was ongoing in other cities such as Abuja, Akure, Abeokuta, Ibadan and Benin, with plans to expand to more states in future.
Dufil Prima foods Plc, Public Relations Manager, Ashiwaju Temitope said: “It’s one platform that the company really believes in and we have done this consistently in the past and we don’t intend to stop.”
He said apart from the kids, the school and teachers also benefit immensely from the programme.
“We are also giving back to those people, who are co-ordinating them and that’s by giving to schools and by ensuring that the school teachers also get from us. Some of those things that the teachers get from us are that once a year, we try to do what’s called ‘Training the trainer’. We train the teachers because if you want the children to be part of what you believe in you have to train them. Since we, as a company, will not be able to do this directly for the kids in school, it means that we have to put a platform were all these teachers would be trained periodically and that we do it from time to time,”Ashiwaju said.
He listed the company’s major challenge in organising the event as security, adding that the company will love to explore other parts of the country.
“ If you see the list of where we are having such parties, we strategically left the northern part of the country and some parts in the east because of security challenges.
What goes into having 5000 children at a point in time is not easy at all, you need to talk of health, you need to bring nurses, security people and teachers together. And you need to train them well ahead of the event. I am sure that once security becomes an issue of the past, then of course we can have it nationwide,” he said.
