  • Indomie to hold independence day award in Lagos

    Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie Instant Noodles on Thursday announced the 9th edition of the Indomie Independence Day Award for Heroes of Nigeria (IIDA) initiative which will hold on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.

    This us contained in a statement made available to newsmen, saying this year’s edition of the IIDA for Heroes of Nigeria promises to be a very exciting event, as the crème de la crème of the society including top government functionaries, captains of industries and members of Nigeria/Africa entertainment communities are expected to be in attendance to celebrate heroism and bravery of the Nigerian Child.

    According to the Group Public Relations & Events Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Tope Ashiwaju, “Our goal is to establish a platform that will continue to recognise and reward heroism and bravery in young children. This year’s edition promises to be distinctive as the award enjoys partnership with DAAR Communications and Stanbic IBTC”.
    Ashiwaju further explained that the three winners for this year’s edition were carefully selected out of the 15 finalists after a thorough assessment of the stories shortlisted in line with the set criteria for the three award categories – Intellectual, Physical and Social bravery by the respected panel of Judges for this year’s edition of the award under the distinguished chairmanship of the Executive Director of Corona Schools, Mrs. Olufunto Igun.
    Other members of the panel were: Mr. Jimi Disu, a broadcaster and resident analyst on FRONT PAGE NEWS on Classic FM, Mr. Abraham Obomeyoma Ogbodo, Editor, The Guardian newspaper, Mrs. Sarah Boulos, Chief Executive Officer/Founder, the Society for the Performing Arts in Nigeria (SPAN), Dr. Yemi Oke, a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, Mrs. Ngozi Igbokwe, Founder and Executive Director, Bales of Mercy Orphanage Home and Mr. Taiwo Akinlami, a social empowerment advocate and child protection specialist.

    Commenting after the conclusion of the selection process, the Chairman of the 2016 panel, Mrs. Olufunto Igun, said: “It is indeed a great privilege to be a member of this Judges panel. I must confess that IIDA is such a laudable initiative that will continue to impact the lives of children positively.”

    The IIDA award which has been running for nine years, extols the exemplary accomplishments of children who have shown courage and determination in situations that ordinarily would bring fear. The 2016 edition of the award is supported by Daar Communications and Stanbic IBTC Bank.

    The support from Daar Communication provides IIDA with the opportunity to utilise DAAR Communications Plc platforms – RAYPOWER, AIT and FAAJI FM for guest appearances, news coverage and advert spot bookings.

    The three lucky winners of the three award categories – Intellectual, Physical and Social bravery for this year’s edition of the award are expected to win the sum of N1,000,000.00 worth of scholarship each. The three winners for this year will bring to 27, the total number of awardees that have benefited from this initiative.

    INDOMIE concludes nationwide search for 2016 IIDA heroes

    The nationwide search and call for entry for the 2016 edition of the Indomie Independence Day Award (IIDA); proudly supported by DAAR Communications, has finally come to an end, with a total of 229 inspiring and heroic stories gathered from different States and locations across the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.

    A breakdown of the stories gathered revealed that majority of the stories came from the South East geo-political zone with 55 entries; followed by the South-West (53 stories), South-South (50 stories), North West (30 stories), North East (29 stories), while the North Central has the least entries with a total of 12 heroic stories.

    Speaking on the concluded nationwide search exercise/call-for-entry, the Brand Manager, Indomie Instant noodles, Mr. Amber Yadav, stated that the progress report which the brand has received from the search team right from the commencement of the search which kicked-off three months ago has once again proved that Nigerian kids across several parts of this great nation exhibit several outstanding and heroic acts on a daily basis which should be rewarded.

    “So far we have received 229 entries through our search team that has been on the field for about 3 months and through other dedicatedmeans of entry. I can guarantee everyone that from what we got this year,several great acts which should neither go unannounced nor unrewarded are exhibited by several kids on a daily basis; and as a firm, our duty through the IIDA is to not only search for these kids, but also appreciate their effort, and reward them for their ingenuity.” Yadav said.

    Appreciating the search team for a job well done, the Group Public Relations and Events Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Tope Ashiwaju expressed delight at the heroic kids that have once again been discovered. Ashiwaju stated that “This year’s edition of the IIDA which is the 9th in a roll, promises to be the best so far, as the quality of entries received no doubt shows that Dufil Prima Foods was on track when it kicked-off the IIDA 9years ago.”

    Emphasizing on the importance of the search exercise, Ashiwaju said “The main objective of the search is to collect true stories and experiences across different locations about kids who at one time or the other have performed any act of bravery, as well as, seek out thoroughly and check for cited events, persons and places for the acts of bravery in order to get deserving individuals (children) for the award. Also, to verify and authenticate the stories by asking neighbors, teachers and friends’ basic questions about the child concerned.”

    Speaking vividly on the essence of the award, Ashiwaju said “IIDA is a platform designed to identify, celebrate, and also reward Nigerian kids who at one point or the other have shown exemplary courage in difficult situations, saved lives, stood against challenges and limitations of the society.”

    He noted that this year’s edition have been reformed to fit the newly created three categories – physical bravery, social bravery and Intellectual bravery so as to reward more kids. Hence, three winners will be going home with 1million naira worth of scholarship each in the 2016 award.

    It should be noted that the Indomie Independence Day Award for Heroes of Nigeria has so far produced a total of 24 winners in the last eight years whom were rewarded with scholarship prizes worth several millions of Naira. The 2016 edition of the award is supported by DAAR Communications.

  • Pupils show creativity at Indomie event

    Empty cartons and wrappers of Indomie Noodles were put to creative use by primary school pupils that are members of the Indomie Fan Club during the 2nd Special Arts and Crafts exhibition, organised by Dufil Prima Foods in Lagos, last week.

    The Indomie ‘Team yourself up’ competition saw pupils aged five to 12 team up to construct multi-storey buildings, aeroplanes, rockets, fans, trucks, stove, estates, and so many other objects, using Indomie cartons and wrappers as materials.

    Over 60,000 entries were received nationwide. But only a few hundreds shortlisted for the final were on display at the firm’s headquarters in Surulere, Lagos.

    Head of marketing, Dufil Prima Foods, Mr Girish Sharma, said the aim of the competition was to inspire creativity in pupils.

    “The objective is to promote talent in Nigerian children. The challenge was to get the children to team up and come up with something they could ordinarily not have achieved on their own,” he said.

    National Co-ordinator of Indomie Fan Club, Mrs. Faith Joshua, said the desire to teach children the essence of collaboration inspired the competition.

    “Part of the underlying principle we wanted to inculcate in the kids through this competition is the importance of collaboration, division of labour, and the enormous strength in our diversity, as kids were required to work in groups with anyone of their choice whom they felt could bring their ideas to reality. Today, we are here to see the outstanding products borne from hard work and joint work,” she said.

    The firm’s Group Public Relations and Events Manager, Mr. Tope Ashiwaju, said the selection process for the works that made the final was thorough as teams visited the schools to ensure that pupils did the work by themselves.

    “We did school visitation so the art works were confirmed by their art teachers because they had to work with their art teachers. There are some works that are not here today because they were adjudged to have been professionally done,” he said.

    The best entry will get N100,000; while the first and second runners-up would receive cash prizes of N75,000 and N50,000.

    Also present at the event was last year’s winner of the competition, Master Gabriel Akinyosoye from Peaceful Heights School, Owode, Ogun State.

    The unveiling of the new Chicken Flavour variant named ‘Indomie Bellefull’ was held in Lagos.

    The Head of Marketing, Mr. Girish Sharma, who referred to the new product as a brain child of an extended consumer research and survey, said: ”We are launching the new Chicken flavour product from Dufil Prima Foods called Indomie Bellefull for our valued consumers, and it is borne out of the brand’s effort in catering for the growing need of the family and easing the hassle associated with purchasing multiple packs of already available Indomie SKUs for meals on the home front.”

    According to Girish, the new product is made from the best quality wheat which will boost energy in no time after consumption.

    He asserts that the Indomie Bellefull of chicken flavour has come with a difference to stand tall in the noodle market as it is the first of its kind.

  • Indomie to feed three million Muslims

    Dufil Prima Foods, makers of Indomie noodles brand will feed three million Muslims across the nation, by making available a number of mobile kitchens in Central Mosques, across the country during the Ramadan period.

    The Group Public Relations and Events Manager, Mr. Tope Ashiwaju, in a statement, said the company is identifying with Muslims during the fasting period as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by serving Indomie meals during ‘Iftar’ (Evening Break) at various major central Mosques across the country.

    According to Ashiwaju, the aim is to continuously ensure that the company contributes to sustainable development, poverty reduction and catering for the vulnerable.

    He said: “Once again, as the Ramadan season is here; having an understanding of what it depicts as a period of discipline, prayer and worship to God Almighty, we decided to support our Muslim brothers with this gesture.”

    “Already, we have identified several mosques in cities across the country where freshly prepared Indomie will be freely served at the time of breaking the fast at each of these mosques on a daily basis, as in one mosque per day in a week where everything would have been put in place to ensure that everyone present at the mosques is served immediately after evening prayers.” He said.

    Ashiwaju explained that the council of Imams in the various locations across the country have given their support to ensure the success of the exercise and the Imams of each mosque will hand out freshly prepared Indomie to everyone on a daily basis.

    Mouth watering N1.5 million cash prizes up for grab as the search for the next ‘big thing’ in Nigerian comedy has commenced. Indomie has kicked off the Indomie BelleFull comedy Challenge; an online competition to project funny, talented and creative individuals with a passion for comedy to limelight in the Nigerian comedy landscape.

    Speaking on the contest, Group Public relations and events manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Tope Ashiwaju, stated that the length and breadth of Nigeria is laden with tremendous and mind blowing potentials in comedy, even as observed in the growth and fast paced development of the Nigerian comedy Industry which no doubt has attracted international attention and accolades.

    The first batch of winners have emerged across Nigeria in the ongoing Indomie promo tagged: Indomie Wrappers Redemption Promo.

    The winners were selected randomly through a digital process at the Dufil Prima Plc headquarters in Lagos.

    The winners include: Dandy Mercy, Salamy Daniel, and Emule Emma from Lagos; Peree Ajayi from Abuja; Maryam Bello from Kaduna; Nwabueze Ewuru from Onitsha; Mrs joy from Benin; Mrs Olanrewaju from Ibadan; Esther Eric from Port Harcourt and grand prize winners of Dubai trip, Charles Chidima and Alfred Ogini both from Kano and Lagos respectively.

    Dufil Prima Foods, makers of Indomie instant noodles, has called for entries for this year’s Indomie Independence Day Award for Heroes of Nigeria (IIDA).

    Speaking at a briefing in Lagos, the Group Managing Director, Deepak Singhal, said the ceremony has been successful in the last eight years with awards for 24 heroic children.

    Singhal, who was represented by Ashiwaju Temitope, the Group Head, Public Relations and Event Manager, said the selection scope has been expanded to accommodate, encourage and reward more children who have displayed an unmatched physical, intellectual and social bravery in the face of hazards and unfavourable conditions.

    The IIDA, now in its ninth year, is to recognise children from 15 years and below who have exhibited extraordinary acts of bravery in the face of danger and societal challenges.

    According to Singhal, the event, which will hold in October, has been divided into three categories, including: Physical Bravery award, which acknowledges  children  who at great personal risk save lives or prevent extensive damage to lives and properties, the Social Bravery award will reward children who work against social ills, such as child marriage, illiteracy and environmental issues and the Intellectual Bravery award will reward children with innate ability who performed remarkably despite physical, mental and emotional challenges.

    Each winner in the three categories will take home N1million; there will be consolation prizes for others.

  • Indomie: Dufil to sample eight million consumers

    Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie instant noodles in Nigeria has disclosed its intention to sample over eight million consumers nationwide in 2016.

    This is part of the company’s efforts to continually ensure objective consumer feedback and satisfaction.

    Speaking on the development, the Brand Manager, Indomie, Mr. Amber Yadav stated that the major reasons behind the projected sampling exercise is to create excitement and increase emotional connection between the brand and its consumers.

    Amber affirmed that the sampling exercise will include all variants of Indomie and this will be carried-out in all geopolitical zones in the country namely: North-Central, North-East, North-West, South-East, South-South and South-West, with special focus on key cities across the regions.

    “Sampling our consumers is important to us because it affords us the opportunity to have an idea of their preference, which no other medium can provide.

    “The feedback generated from the sampling exercise will assist in improving our product development process,” he said.

    Also speaking on the sampling exercise, the Public Relations and Event Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Mr. Tope Ashiwaju, said: “Sampling is a sure way of converting prospective consumers into brand loyalists. This will also give them the opportunity to experience the brand firsthand.

    “The sampling will give the undecided consumers a trial experience which would gear them towards becoming our consumers.”

    The sampling exercise, according to Ashiwaju, would be strategically executed not only to serve as a feedback mechanism, but to further strengthen the bond between the brand and its consumers.

    In addition, it would assist the brand in aligning its offerings more accurately in meeting consumer’s’ expectation.
    He also revealed that several CSR and consumer engagement activities are billed for this year in order to ensure maximum consumers’ satisfaction and engagement.
