Kumuyi: God has not written Nigeria off

    •‘2015 a year of turnaround’

Nigeria is still in God’s plans for liberation from security challenges and economic reversals, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi, has said.

He urged citizens not to be like the complaining, critical and murmuring Israelites in the Bible.

They should magnify God’s promises and plans rather than focus on present and past crises, the cleric said.

His words: “God has not written you off. God has not forgotten you. There is a glorious day awaiting you; things will turn around… the bright future is starting today. God has come to visit His people… nothing will stop you onward journey.”

He spoke at the church’s 2014 December National Retreat and Miracle/Revival Programme with the theme: “Lifted up to Higher Ground and Enrichment through God’s visitation.”

Addressing a mammoth crowd, Pastor Kumuyi declared that 2015 is the year of God’s visitation, adding that the Almighty would give His people a cause to celebrate in the New Year.

He said: “God will visit you in the New Year. Everything holding you down, the Lord will break it. You will step into your Promised Land. Things will turn around in your life. It is not what you see yesterday; it is not what you see today; a brighter day is coming.

“The coming days for you will be better than the good old days. The things of the past may be wonderful, the things of today and tomorrow will be more wonderful.”

Pastor Kumuyi urged Christians to prepare for life beyond the immediate, as, according to him, the Lord’s return is imminent. Nigerians, he said, must not seek powers outside the confines of God’s word.

“We do not need to kill ourselves to have worldly and ephemeral powers. This should moderate our conducts on earth,” he said.

He emphasised that worldly attainments would fade away, while the word of God remains forever.

According to him, Christians and saints must, therefore, constantly feed themselves on the word of God.

The cleric stressed that it was pointless to fight for things that would not last beyond 60 to 70 years “when we can strive for the ideal of righteous and unblemished life through the grace of God, and through a life that is well-pleasing to God, to eventually attain a life that has no end, which is as blissful as it is glorious.”

He blessed the people and urged them to be satisfied with God’s goodness and kindness, which he said were more than sufficient to take care of them both here and in the hereafter.

Kumuyi added that God, at all times, must be their pillar of strength and corner stone and abiding refuge for every situation.

The programme also featured seminars under which several topics were considered. The miracle/revival segment featured power ministrations and healings by Pastor Kumuyi.

There were also orchestra and song performances by the church choir.

The programme provided opportunities for people to share their testimonies.

For instance, a woman named Toyin Adeyemi, who had been married for 19 years without a child, climbed the stage to tell her story of how God took away her reproach.

Samuel Olubiyi from Isolo area of Lagos told how he and his wife were blessed with a baby after four consecutive years of miscarriages. He also testified to his divine promotion after seven years of working without recognition.

It was the same for Mr. and Mrs. John Chijioke. After several years of miscarriages, the woman conceived. When she was due to put to bed, all efforts by the medical team for her to have a normal delivery failed. After 13 hours of labour, she was wheeled into the theatre for an operation.

His words: “Concerning the 2015 elections, we have the ruling party and the opposition parties but those of us in the populace should look at the candidates.

“What we followers should look at their records and vote not according to religion or ethnic background and that is the best thing for us to know, we should move away from ethnic or religious affiliations.

“People should vote based on credentials of the leaders. We have to look at the records of those that are contesting for us to elect credible leaders that will bring development.

“This is the more reason why people should speak brought the ballot by participating actively in the electoral system.

“There shouldn’t be thuggery, rioting or burning of things, the good of the people should be paramount to those seeking for the votes of the people”.

Kumuyi explained that his coming to Ekiti was a divine arrangement as “this will be the first time in my over 40-year ministry that I will be in a location on 24th, 25th and 26th of December.”

According to him, he is rounding off his  nationwide and continental evangelistic outreach with a visit to Ekiti saying”it’s like God has reserved the very best for Ekiti.”

The cleric who declared peace, unity and prosperity on Ekiti land prayed that the state will move forward and every family will be blessed a rivers of miracles  will flow.

“There is going to be peace, unity and prosperity in this state. This state will move forward and it will not go down,” he prayed.

Responding to more questions on the disposition of Deeper Life members to the 2015 general elections, Kumuyi charged his teeming church members to do everything possible to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to have a say in emergence of leaders at the polls.

Kumuyi said further, “On my own, without journalists pushing me, I declare now that all Deeper Life Bible Church members should go and obtain their voter cards so that they can vote  in the 2015 elections.

“If somebody is not serving us right, we have opportunity to speak with our votes but you should not vote somebody just because he comes from my area or because he comes from my church.

“All Deeper Life members must get their voter cards. It is good for citizens to participate in he electoral system so that when your leaders are not doing well, you will have the right to complain.

“So Deeper Life members, get your cards, go and vote”.

Kumuyi clarified a statement credited to him in which he was quoted to have said that he did not believe in Christmas.

According to him, what he said was that nobody is sure that December 25 is the birthday of Jesus Christ but everybody knows that Jesus Christ was born.

He stressed that emphasis should not be on the day he was born but his essence of coming to the world to save mankind.

Kumuyi also urged the church to take welfare of members serious, noting that his church is trying its best to assist the less privileged in the church.

  • ‘Fraudsters using Pastor Kumuyi’s name on Facebook’

‘Fraudsters using Pastor Kumuyi’s name on Facebook’

THE Deeper Life Bible Church has warned those who might have “received some spurious messages” asking for money to be sent to a dedicated account, purportedly by its General Superintendent, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi, to disregard such pleas.

A statement by the church secretary, U.J.J. Asemota, indicated that the messages were being sent by fraudsters, adding: “This is nothing, but an evil scheme to fleece innocent people of their hard-earned resources, and neither Pastor Kumuyi nor the church subscribes to such an unrighteous practice.”

The statement explained that earlier this year, certain faceless people compromised the Facebook account dedicated for the use of the General Superintendent and the church responded by publicly repudiating the claims of the unknown persons.

The statement also reads: “Recently however, the same faceless people resumed their activities. As in the previous case, through messages purportedly sent by the general superintendent, the criminal elements solicited for funds from unwary citizens to be sent to a designated account for reasons that rankle the mind.

“Although hacking into peoples’ emails or Facebook accounts is fast becoming a common criminal act, no one, not even by the stretch of imagination, could have thought that a respected servant of God like Pastor Kumuyi would be made a victim of the disturbing act.

“It is a fact repeatedly documented, and as a matter of principle, that Pastor Kumuyi neither canvasses, nor solicits for funds for personal or ministerial use. Deeper Life Bible Church has never accepted a grant from any source since inception, over 40 years ago.”

The added that money generated in the church is raised on account of individual members’ consecration and sacred spiritual duties towards God.

The church said the matter has again been reported to the authorities with a view to launching full investigations to unravel the source(s) of the scam, while tighter arrangements were being made to forestall a re-occurrence.

Kumuyi to Fayose: rule with fear of God

Deeper Life Bible Church General Superintendent Pastor Williams Kumuyi counselled Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose to be Godfearing in his four-year stewardship.

Pastor Kumuyi, in a letter read at Fayose’s thanksgiving service, urged him to imbibe “integrity, openness, transparency and prudence in the discharge of his duties”.

Speaking at the service during what was tagged “testimony session”, Fayose pledged to resist attempts by sycophants to teleguide him.

The governor said: “Having a second chance is very rare. My return to government is not common in history. It is a rare miracle.

“During the seven and half years of my political wilderness, I was taken to court over what I knew nothing about 59 times, aside the 45 days I spent in Ikoyi Prisons during my trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“My security and political aides, such as Dayo Okondo, were incarcerated for three and half years without committing any offence. I won’t allow sycophants to derail me again.

“All my property were left in the Government House because I had to flee. But this time my mission is to look after Ekiti people and not to fight anybody.

“I will not allow this position to go into my head or use it to oppress anybody. I don’t have anybody in mind to punish, battle with or fight in any way.”

In her testimony, Fayose’s wife, Feyisetan, said: “God revealed to me that my husband will return as the governor, but he never told me the time.

“God told me that our return would be done in such a way that will beat people’s imagination. But because of the troubles we went through, at a time I prayed to God to push my husband out of politics. Later, God told me that He will leave him there for him to prove His power.

“Today, God has manifested His power. This is not by our power or strength, but by the grace of God.”

Mrs. Fayose said her husband facilitated her closeness to God 19 years ago, when he took her to Deeper Life Bible Church.

“This is where I found God because I was deep in worldliness in terms of dressing and behaviour. Today, God has seized my life and I thank Him for restoring our lost glory.”

The cleric noted that only credible leaders would make a difference in the lives of Nigerians.

He also addressed reporters on the three-day “power-packed crusade” with the theme: Explosion of Supernatural Miracles, which was held at the weekend.

Kumuyi said: “When we are going to cast our votes, we must vote intelligently. We know where we want to be as a country in various areas of development. The leaders who will get us to where we want are those we are going to cast our votes for at all levels.

“We should also understand that many nations have their peculiar problems: some similar to ours, while some are different. But many of the countries have survived their challenges. I want to say with prayers and hope in God, we will get out of our problems.”

The cleric scored Aregbesola high in the transformation of Osun State.

He said Aregbesola’s leadership style had translated to the vast development of the state.

  • Nigeria will soon overcome challenges, says Kumuyi

THE General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Christian Church, Pastor Williams Kumuyi , has assured that Nigeria would soon overcome its challenges. Speaking with reporters on arrival in Osun State for a three-day crusade, tagged ‘Explosion of Supernatural Miracle’, Kumuyi said what Nigeria needs is prayer to overcome her challenges.

The cleric urged Nigerians to vote wisely whenever it is time to elect leaders at all levels of government, saying that every Nigerian has a role to play towards achieving the desired growth and development.

But I must say that I am impressed with the obvious change in infrastructural development as observed on my way to this place.” During his visit to Governor Aregbesola at the Government House on Friday, Kumuyi said the governor has demonstrated exemplary leadership with his disposition to all religions and massive infrastructural development in the state. Kumuyi said the attitude of the governor has not suggested the promotion of one religion above others in his policies and programmes.

Speaking on rumours that the governor was working to Islamize the state, Kumuyi said: “For those who are saying that, I’m not living in Osun State, I don’t know what they have observed or what they have seen. But what I have observed is that Aregbesola is a governor for everybody. He is a man for everyone, he wants the progress and development of individuals and the state, not minding if you are Muslim, Christian,. non-Muslim or non-Christian.”

“I have moved around and seen what you have done in the first term. But there is still more to do, there is no way people will not point out deficiencies in government. But you must not be distracted, you must be focused and move close to God. We are looking for a better and more successful second term.

Responding, Governor Aregbesola appreciated Pastor Kumuyi for bringing the crusade to Osun State, saying the crusade will definitely manifest spiritually in his administration and the life of the people of the state. The governor said Osun is blessed with the leading lights in Christendom, with Pastor Kumuyi as one of them.
