Mohbad’s uncle denies bullying singer’s wife

Ayodele Famuyiwa, uncle to the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has debunked the allegations levelled against him by the late singer’s wife, Mrs Omowunmi Aloba that he bullied her, describing the allegations as ‘false’.

He added that he had only advised her to desist from spreading the narrative that her father in-law was fighting her and her son over Mohbad’s property.

Mr. Famuyiwa also claimed that he had been an advocate for peace in the family since the demise of the late singer.

Famuyiwa, in a statement, said: “As an uncle to Mohbad, I want to categorically state that I have never bullied you or your son, as you have falsely claimed. What I have consistently said is that you should stop spreading the narrative that your father-in-law is fighting you and your son over Mohbad’s property.

“I also clarified that if a DNA test confirms that the child is Mohbad’s, then he is entitled to 100 per cent of his father’s property. However, if the DNA result proves otherwise, that does not automatically erase the child’s connection to Mohbad, but such matters will be addressed at the right time.

“You granted a media interview falsely, stating that I am a sick person looking for money for treatment and that I want to depend on Mohbad. I didn’t respond to this attack. You also alleged that your father-in-law was fighting you and your son over Mohbad’s property and the DNA matter.”

Yomi Fabiyi leads protest for justice over Mohbad’s death

Actor Yomi Fabiyi has organised a peaceful protest in Lagos, demanding justice for singer Mohbad, who died under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023.

The protest, held on February 27, began in the Alausa area to the police command in Ikeja.

Fabiyi led the group, carrying a banner that read “Justice for Mohbad 2025”.

The protesters called for transparency in the investigation and accountability for those responsible for Mohbad’s death.

The demonstration comes after a magistrate court dismissed charges against Mohbad’s former record label boss, Naira Marley, and two others.

However, the Lagos Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has announced plans to pursue charges against Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad before his death and Ayobami Sadiq, one of the singer’s friends, accused of reckless and negligent acts.

Mohbad: I’ve been broken but not destroyed – Naira Marley

Singer Naira Marley has penned an emotional note, addressing the events surrounding Mohbad’s death and the subsequent accusations against him.

He shared the pain, shame and sense of betrayal on his X page.

The Marlian Record leader expressed shock at the loud silence and the fact that Mohbad, someone he considered a brother and protected, left the world with his name (Naira Marley) tarnished.

Despite acknowledging that he and his label, Marlian Records, aren’t perfect and have made mistakes, Naira Marley emphasised that they never declared war on Mohbad but made amends.

Naira Marley recounted how, despite making peace with Mohbad, he was still accused and torn apart by those who knew the truth.

He expressed hurt and betrayal, stating that he welcomed Mohbad into his home and trusted him, only to be met with false accusations.

The singer also addressed those who doubted his ability to survive the ordeal, stating that he stood firm, faced the justice system, and spent time in jail.

He wrote: “I never thought silence could be so loud. I never thought someone I called my brother, someone I protected, would leave this world with my name in his shadow. I have carried this weight, this pain, this shame that was never mine to bear.
We, as Marlians, were not perfect. We had to grow, we had to adapt.

“Mistakes were made, but they were business wars. I made peace with Mohbad. We understood each other beyond the noise, beyond the misunderstandings. And you know this.

“Yet when he took his last breath in you alls arms, you looked at the world and pointed at me. You let them tear me apart. You let them call me a killer while you sat there, knowing the truth. Now, you tell the story.

“I welcomed you all into my home. I gave you my trust. And yet, my brother is gone, still not buried, and that is your fault. Telling the truth from the beginning would have given him the rest he deserves. Regardless, I will always be there for him.

“You never thought I would survive. You never thought I would walk through the fire and face my people, maybe you hoped I would stay a fugitive. You thought I would run. Instead, I stood before the justice system, spent time in jail, and faced everything head-on while you changed the story, again and again.

“But God sees all. The truth does not shake. The lies will fade, and time will reveal everything. I have been broken, but I am not destroyed. And when the truth finally speaks, I pray your heart is strong enough to bear it”.

  • Justice for Mohbad: Break the Silence Foundation demands accountability

Justice for Mohbad: Break the Silence Foundation demands accountability

In a passionate and urgent plea for justice, Yomi Fabiyi, actor and convener of the Break the Silence Foundation, addressed a world press conference on January 15, 2025, which was held at Radisson Hotel, Lagos.

The event was organized to demand accountability for the unresolved death of Nigerian artist, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Promise Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, who tragically passed away on September 12, 2023.

Fabiyi emphasized the public’s growing concern over allegations of foul play surrounding Mohbad’s death and the systemic hurdles that have hampered the investigation.

He highlighted the slow pace of justice, the involvement of key suspects, and alleged interference in the case, calling for urgent action from the Nigerian government and police.

Citing a series of revelations, including a voluntary confession and a video clip purportedly linked to the artist’s death, Fabiyi urged the authorities to intensify investigations and bring key individuals for questioning.

The foundation also requested the President and Inspector General of Police to restore public trust by ensuring transparency and accountability in the ongoing inquiry.

The late artist’s fans, family, and supporters have galvanized around the #JusticeForMohbad Movement, demanding not only justice for his untimely death but also systemic reform in protecting artistes and vulnerable individuals within the entertainment industry. In closing, Fabiyi invoked the enduring power of truth and justice, echoing the words of Martin Luther King Jr: “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

Mohbad’s father insists on DNA test to confirm paternity of late singer’s son

Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Mohbad, has reiterated his doubts about the paternity of Liam, the son of the late artist, citing the child’s physical appearance as a key concern.

Aloba, who has been outspoken about his quest for justice following Mohbad’s untimely death on September 12, 2023, has called for a DNA test to confirm Liam’s biological connection to Mohbad.

In a recent interview, Aloba insisted the test was crucial to establish the truth.

“No, with what I am seeing, he’s not my grandson. As a father, they are supposed to bring the child to me,” he said.

He added that a DNA test should have been promptly arranged when he first raised the issue.

“When I demand DNA, they were supposed to say, ‘Daddy, go and do it at your convenient time.’ It has become public now. Let the court speak to that.”

Aloba affirmed his readiness to accept Liam as his grandson only if the DNA results confirm the child’s paternity, stating, “I would only accept Liam as my grandson if the DNA test says otherwise.”

My life better after Mohbad’s death – Father

Joseph Aloba, father of late singer Mohbad, has revealed that his life has improved significantly since his son’s passed.

In an interview with media personality Akin Abolade, Aloba attributed the positive turn in his life to the combined efforts of Mohbad’s spirit and God.

Aloba disclosed that Mohbad had planned to do many things for him but was unable to fulfill them before his death.

However, after Mohbad’s passing, Aloba said he began to receive assistance from people, including the gift of a car and other essential items.

“Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend. He had it in plan to do many things for me but they didn’t allow him to do them. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad, and that of God combined together that began to send people to assist me.

“Even the car and everything I have now, it was people that gave them to me and it is beyond ordinary. So it is the spirit of Mohbad and God that led those people to give me all I have now.

“Those were the things he was meant to be doing for me, but they didn’t allow him to do them,” he said.

Aloba shared fond memories of Mohbad, revealing that his son became a backup singer for him at age one.

He also spoke about his career as a carpenter, singer and pastor as well as how Mohbad’s birth inspired him to become a singer after the money from the naming ceremony was stolen.

Since Mohbad’s death, Aloba has released nine tracks and has been gifted a new truck and Toyota Highlander vehicle by compassionate Nigerians.

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023 with the cause of his death still unknown.

Why I regretted seeking Mohbad’s exhumation, by Iyabo Ojo

Actress Iyabo Ojo has expressed regret over her earlier advocacy for the exhumation of late singer Mohbad’s body.

In a recent interview with her colleague Biola Bayo on her podcast show, Iyabo Ojo stated that she wished she hadn’t requested the exhumation, given the subsequent controversies and delays in laying Mohbad to rest.

Iyabo Ojo initially sought the exhumation to determine the cause of Mohbad’s death through an autopsy.

However, the situation became complicated, and she now regrets her involvement.

“I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed If I knew his case would turn out this way.

“I just wanted Mohbad’s body exhumed so they could do the autopsy to find out the cause of his death.

“I did my best to be sure that everyone was investigated but when they came up with different theories, DNA became more important to them”, she said.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was initially buried the next day.

His body was later exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy, as part of the investigation into his death.

Younger brother of the late Hip Hop singer ( Ileri-Oluwa Aloba), Adura Aloba, has demanded public apology from actors, Yomi Fabiyi, Damola Ayinde and others, for allegedly having unauthorised access to his social media Tiktok account and using same to disrepute him or face legal action.

Adura said: “The hacking of my personal Tiktok account had led to fraudulent posts, interactions, and messages being attributed to me without my knowledge or consent.

“Yomi Fabiyi posted a petition claiming to have communicated directly with me and there was evidence of this.

“However, the alleged messages were orchestrated by Damola Ayinde, who used my compromised account. Despite the evidence circulating that these malicious actions were the work of Damola Ayinde, Fabiyi has consistently continued to publicly malign me.

    ‘Mohbad’s autopsy report ready’

The toxicology report and other forensic analysis conducted in United States (US) on the late rapper, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba a.k.a Mohbad is out.

The autopsy report is now with the Lagos State Pathologist.

The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Lawal Pedro (SAN), said this during a briefing on the first anniversary of his administration and the upcoming Strategic Stakeholders Meeting with MDAs and agencies scheduled for Raddison Hotel, GRA, Ikeja.

“On the Mohbad case, yes, I agree there has been a delay, and the delay is caused out of time taken for investigation. Forensic analysis, toxicology, are part of investigation that can lead at least to conviction in a case that is presented before the courts,” he said.

The Attorney General explained that the forensic examination would not have been done in the US but because the Lagos DNA and Forensic Centre were burnt during the 2022 #EndSARS protest.

On the case of female lawyer, Otike-Odibi who killed her lawyer husband, Symphorosa Otike-Odibi and cutting his penis, Pedro said the matter suffered delay because the case file was among documents burnt when Igbosere Court was burnt by the #EndSARS protesters.

He said that the matter has been reassigned to a new judge, Justice Serifat Sonaike following the retirement of the trial judge, Justice Akintoye.

Pedro said the case against BRT driver, Andrew Nice accused of killing a fashion designer, Bamishe Ayanwole is on-going, saying that the state has closed its case against the suspect.
