    Why cause of Mohbad’s death is ‘uncertain’, by pathologist

    A pathologist, Prof. Shokunle Shoyemi, has told a Lagos Coroner sitting in Ikorodu that the cause of the death of the singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, a.k.a Mohbad, was concluded as “uncertain”.

    Shoyemi said the cause of the death could not be determined because of the state of the body.

    Shoyemi told the Coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, that despite their efforts, the advanced state of the decomposition rendered a conclusive autopsy impossible.

    He said the situation left many questions about the circumstances surrounding his death unanswered.

    He said the autopsy was conducted at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) with photographs taken for documentation.

    Shokunle said the body of the late singer Mohbad was not embalmed and had begun to decompose before it was brought for autopsy.

    Still, the don said, he discovered from the results that Puritin, caffeine and paracetamol influence were in the body and a superficial injury on the left hand.

    Shokunle also said nothing contributed to the death and stressed that the information about the late Mohbad’s neck being bent and still bleeding after death was false, adding that the late singer’s neck was still intact.

    Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has made a special request to Nigerians as she marks her birthday today.

    Wunmi, in a post on her Instagram page, said it is her first time celebrating her birthday in the absence of her late husband.

    She appealed to Nigerians to celebrate MohBad on her birthday instead of celebrating her.

    Wunmi noted that the best birthday gift Mohbad gave to her before his death was their son, Liam, adding that Nigerians should pray for his spirit.

    She wrote: “This is the first time in many years that I’ll be celebrating my birthday without my husband’s promise! He was not just my husband, but also my best friend, confidant, gist partner and more. Today, all I want for my birthday is for his fans across the world to celebrate the life he lived.

    “I beg you all to say a prayer for the spirit of Ilerioluwa! Whether you choose to pray silently in your heart or post his picture on your profile. I ask that you sincerely pray for the soul of Ilerioluwa.

    “Let this day be dedicated to him, rather than to me. Because he had given me the best birthday gift before he was snatched from me! He gave me the gift of himself through our son, Liam. A child that I will love and cherish till the end of time. Please celebrate Mohbad.”

    My hatred for Mohbad increases everyday, says Naira Marley associate Law Lee

    An associate of embattled singer, Naira Marley, Law Lee has made a disparaging remark to late singer, Mohbad.

    Law Lee stated his hatred for Mohbad increases everyday even after his death. 

    Naira Marley and his team previously faced criticism for allegedly mistreating Mohbad before his passing in September 2023.

    In a recent turn of events, a member of Naira Marley’s inner circle on Instagram expressed animosity towards the deceased singer.

    Law_lee101’s post detailed his hatred towards Mohbad even after his death.

    According to Law_lee101, Mohbad’s alleged disparaging remarks about fellow artist Zinoleesky prompted Portable to publicly confront him on social media.

    Law_lee101 implied that if Mohbad had refrained from making negative comments about Zinoleesky, Portable wouldn’t have had the nerve to challenge him.

    He wrote: “Everyday my hatred for mohbad keeps increasing even after his death …. If not for all those miscap about zino na why this @portablebaeby get mind dey sub am .. Fooooooooooool.”

    Court okays substituted service on Mohbad’s wife for DNA test

    A Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has issued an order for Wunmi, the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba’s wife, to be served a notice of a pending DNA test application via substituted means.

    The Aloba family’s legal team member, Monisola Odumosu, confirmed this, stating that the order was necessary as the court sheriff had failed to personally serve the court process on Wunmi twice.

    The Nation reported that the issue of conducting a DNA test on the deceased’s son the Aloba family has been a long-standing issue since the demise of MohBad.

    The family is contesting the paternity of baby Liam and applied to the Family Court to grant an order against Wunmi to present herself and baby Liam for a DNA test at any recognized laboratory in Lagos.

    In the application filed by the legal team to Joseph Aloba, father to the late singer, the family sought an order to serve Wunmi the court papers for the DNA, by posting all the originating processes and other processes in the suit on the last-known address of the respondent.

    Odumosu said: “If the process were served on the last-known address of the respondent by Order of the Court, it would constitute good service and she would be aware of the pending suit. The Chief Magistrate granted the order and ordered that the respondent be served by posting the court process on her last known address.

    The statement added that the singer’s wife, in a viral video, said she was ready for a DNA test, noting that she had never been available for the court sheriff to serve her the originating motion.

    Odumosu also added that the matter had been adjourned till next month for the report of service.

    However, counsel to Wunmi, Taiwo Olawanle, denied knowledge of the court order.

    He said: “We don’t have the court order. If we have an order, we will advise her to adhere to it. That is not a problem. But we are not aware of any order.”

    It would be recalled that Mohbad died last year on September 27, under controversial circumstances.

    In that same month, his body was exhumed for autopsy to unravel the cause of his death.

    The Lagos state police command had in the same September also inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe the singer’s death.

    His death also led to the arrest of Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, amongst others.

    Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer MohBad, has appealed to Nigerians to contribute to his newly established GoFundMe campaign.

    In a video message, Joseph explained that he launched the account for those seeking justice for his son to contribute.

    He emphasised that funds raised would be allocated towards pursuing justice for the late MohBad.

    He said: “Good day Nigerians, thank you for your support and your constant clamour for justice for my son.     Liam clocked one on Friday April 12 and many have felicitated with the young champ on his first year on earth.

    Mohbad’s son was spotted in a series of football-themed photos to mark the special occasion with netizens gushing over them.

    Liam rocked a cute little blue and white Manchester City jersey and was seen trying to kick a football in some of his photos.

    Mohbad: NGOs disown ‘false’ statement

    Two organisations, Ada Wazobia Foundation and Global Concerned Citizens for Justice, have dissociated themselves from a statement attributed to them about the Coroner Inquest into the death of singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji, alias Mohbad.

    They said the statements in a newspaper: ‘Step Aside If You Can No Longer Handle Mohbad’s Case, Group Tells Judge,’ was not their position.

    Both groups refuted the publication and urged the public to jettison same.

    The statement reads: “We wish to state that neither our organisations nor any representatives thereof have issued such statements or made any demands to the Magistrate, Adedayo Shotobi, regarding her role in the Coroner Inquest.

    “Furthermore, we emphasise that our organisations are committed to upholding the principles of justice, fairness, and equity in seeking resolution for cases as Mohbad’s tragic death. We respect the legal process and the judiciary’s authority in overseeing this matter, and at no point have we sought to interfere with or influence the proceedings.

    “It is imperative to clarify that the publication referenced misrepresents the facts surrounding the Coroner Inquest, particularly in its portrayal of our organisations’ involvement and purported demands to the judge. We urge the public and media outlets to exercise caution and diligence in reporting on sensitive matters, such as this, ensuring accuracy and adherence to journalistic ethics.

    “Ada Wazobia Foundation and Global Concerned Citizens for Justice remain steadfast in our pursuit of justice for Mohbad and his loved ones. We urge all parties to allow the legal process proceed unhindered and without influence, with the goal of achieving truth and accountability.

    “We appreciate the opportunity to address this matter and reaffirm our commitment to transparency, integrity, and respect for the rule of law.

    Elegushi family disowns Mohbad son’s paternity dispute

    Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi in Lagos, Oba Saheed Elegushi, said yesterday the royal family has no connection with son of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad).

    The family, in a statement by its media consultant, Deyemi Saka, lead partner at Lambert and Curtis, disowns the raging paternity dispute over Mohbad’s son, Liam.

    The Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ikorodu, Lagos State, is set to hear a suit by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, seeking a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test for Liam.

    But, the statement noted, some accounts on social media   have sought to link the monarch with the child.

    Refuting the link, the statement reads: “We are the media consultant to Elegushi Royal Family and we respond  to a desperate attempt at dragging Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi to the paternity dispute over son of Ilerioluwa Aloba,  popularly known as ‘Mohbad’.

    “The falsehood was promoted by some persons on the social media app, TikTok.

    “First, this  is to inform the public that the allegation is false and a figment of the imaginations of these persons.

    “Second, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, through his lawyers, have filed a petition against these persons with the Police and security agencies to enforce his human rights and protect him from cyber bullies while he is hopeful the Police will collaborate with international security organisations in this quest for redress.

    “Third, Oba Elegushi just as many Nigerians is sad by the demise of Mohbad, demanded a thorough investigation and a quick dispensation of justice.

    “While we pray God grants the Alobas strength to bear the loss, people should refrain from dragging the integrity of Elegushi and the institution he represents to disrepute.”

    Mohbad died at 27, in controversial circumstances. Lagos State Police on September 18, 2023, inaugurated a 13-man investigation team to probe the singer’s death.

    His death also led to the arrest of Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, amongst others.

    Actress Sarah Martins has called out Mohbad‘s wife Wunmi for allowing her sister to ridicule and mock the late singer’s legacy online.

    Sarah posted a lengthy message on her Instagram page expressing disappointment with Wunmi following her sister’s outrageous charges against the late musician.

    The Nation reported that Wunmi refuted her sister’s claims that Mohbad infected her with STDs while alive.

    Sarah Martins attacked Mohbad’s 24-year-old widow by using Karimot’s viral video as leverage.

    The actress voiced her disappointment that Wunmi’s sister dared to accuse Mohbad in such a blatant manner and that his wife had allowed it.

    “Your kwashiorkor sister had the effrontery to boldly come online to accuse your so-called beloved late husband of giving you a series of infections when he was alive and you allowed it???

    “Why are u so scared to do DNA tho? If I were you, I would have done it long ago to clear my name and protect the legacy of my late husband!.”

    “When did you move from mourning Mohbad to mocking Mohbad????? I am so disappointed in you! Kai!!!! Such a senseless widow!.”

    Ogunbayo Karimot, sister-in-law of late singer MohBad has spoken on the possibility of conducting a DNA test on the deceased son, Liam.

    According to her, the test will be done on Liam only when a paternity test is carried out on Joseph Aloba and his late son, Mohbad. 

    The Nation reported that his father insisted on a DNA test for his grandson in an audio release.

    Weighing on the issue, Mohbad’s wife’s sister spoke forward, emphasising an important requirement before proceeding with a DNA test for Liam, Mohbad’s son.

    She said: “Before we can conduct DNA on Liam and Mohbad, we have to conduct DNA on Mohbad and his father, Joseph Aloba to be sure of his paternity. If we get a positive result then we can now proceed to getting a DNA on Liam and Mohbad.”

    This comes just days after Abosede, the mother of Mohbad, insisted on her daughter-in-law, Wunmi, taking a DNA test for their son, Liam.
