Joseph Aloba, the father of late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as MohBad, has clarified the insistence on his daughter-in-law Wunmi conducting a DNA test on his grandson, Liam, isn’t because he is doubting his paternity.

Wunmi, who expressed willingness for a DNA test on her son, said she was no longer open to the test.

She said only her late husband has the right to request a DNA test from her, stressing that Mohbad disvirgined her and he is the only man she had slept with.

Mohbad: We’re yet to receive autopsy report, say police

Lagos Police Commissioner, Adegoke Fayoade yesterday said that the result of the toxicology test of late musician, Ilerioluwa Alboa alias Mohbad, which was conducted abroad was still awaited.

He disclosed this while responding to a question on the state of the investigation into the singer’s death.

Fayoade said contrary to insinuations, what was being awaited was the toxicology result, adding that it was done abroad because hoodlums  razed the state-of-the-art forensic laboratory in Lagos during the ENDSARS violence.

According to him, the police launched a homicide investigation and the singer’s body was exhumed for autopsy to determine the cause of death and also gather crucial evidence.

“You will recall that some years back, the Lagos State Government built a state-of-the-art laboratory, however quite unfortunately, the same laboratory worth millions of naira was destroyed by urchins during the EndSars protest.

“If that laboratory was not destroyed we would not have had cause to send the sample from the deceased to the US for toxicology examination.

“It is sad to say that we are yet to receive the toxicology report. We are still awaiting the arrival of the report from the US. We will make public the outcome when we receive it,” he said.

MohBad, 27, died last September 12, under controversial circumstances and was secretly buried the next day.

The nurse who administered a vaccine on him was arrested after she was found to be unlicensed.

Following public outcry, the police set up a panel to probe his death. His corpse was exhumed and some tests conducted.

A clergyman and singer himself, Mr. Joseph emphasized the importance of careful consideration when choosing a spouse.

He said: “I will tell him that, next time he comes to the world, he should be careful of the wife he marries.”

When the interviewer probed further, the father, who has never hidden his dislike for his late son’s wife, Wunmi, claimed that she and her family did a lot of damage to MohBad.

I’m not satisfied with police investigation on MohBad – Joseph Aloba

Joseph Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as MohBad, has expressed his displeasure over the case of his son as he urged the police to intensify efforts in ensuring justice for his late son.

Recall that the former signee of Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27 in Lagos State.

Following his mysterious death, the Lagos State Police Command had on September 18, 2023, inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe the mysterious death of Mohbad.

“Do not forget, we have unique access with INTERPOL. Everybody linked to it (the death of Mohbad) will be identified and they will be brought to establish their level of involvement,” former Lagos Police Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, had said.

The Nation reported that the death of Mohbad also led to the arrest of Naira Marley, and controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, aka Sam Larry, amongst others.

MohBad’s body was exhumed on September 21, 2023 for autopsy to further investigate the cause of his death following the clamour by netizens to get to the root cause of his mysterious death.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, had tweeted in September 2023 that an “autopsy has been concluded” and the police were “awaiting result.”

Meanwhile, Aloba, on Wednesday, while speaking on Trust TV disclosed that “a lot of things have been said outside which are not really right.”

He noted that his expectation was that after he carried Mohbad’s body to the police station, he would be followed to search Mohbad’s house.

He further lamented that he had not been given the autopsy report.

He said: “I am not satisfied with police investigation. When I carried Mohbad’s body to the police station, my expectation is that they would follow me to search his house or give me the police (autopsy) report which they have not given me. Those are the areas I am not satisfied with.

“They should ask them questions. Through searching their phones, they would know what killed Mohbad. A lot of people were living with him. So I am not really satisfied with the investigation.

“We are still looking for justice….Delay can result in denial. I am begging the government to put more effort so that things can go on fine as people expect.”

In November 2023, Hundeyin disclosed that the command had yet to get the official report of MohBad’s autopsy.

Hundeyin said: “The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been carrying rumours that it’s ready. It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumours, we work with facts.”

Aloba, in November 2023, had stated that nobody should collect his son’s body for burial without his authorisation.

He made this known in a video shared on TikTok.

“When this boy was alive, he was alive. When he (left), he still retained my name. Nobody should go there and take his body, please,” he warned.

The singer’s father added, “If they want to do anything there, I’ll be the one to authorise them. Nobody should go and carry MohBad’s body from there.”

Hundeyin, in an interview in December 2023 reiterated that the command had not received the report of the autopsy conducted on Mohbad from the pathologists.

He said: “We’re not the pathologists who carried out the autopsy.

“When they (the pathologists) give us their report, we’ll conclude our investigation. For now, that’s what we’re waiting for. Except they want us to do guesswork, we can’t guess; we need to get the report and see the content of the result and we don’t have it yet.”

    Mohbad: Activist denies defamation allegation

A Turkey-based Nigerian activist and blogger, Tenny Omo Ologo, has denied involvement in the alleged death threats by some persons against Omowunmi and Liam, widow and son of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad).

Omo Ologo reacted following a petition to the Lagos State Police Command in December, by activist lawyer, Femi Falana, alleging death threats against Omowunmi.

Though Ologo’s name was not mentioned in the petition, she was listed among those who allegedly threatened to kidnap Omowunmi and her son.

She said: “This plot against me didn’t start now. It started when I made a video about the Canada visa controversy. People can go back to see that video which I did last year. The Mohbad’s issue was just starting then and it was so hot. But nobody knew where it headed because even the police were not helping matters at the time. So, when the family went to court during the inquest, the issue was all over the media.

“It was Mohbad’s DJ that spoke first. And based on the viral news, I did my own analysis and asked questions. When Mohbad’s father and Wunmi spoke to the media, I also did an analysis to cast light on dark areas. Before the inquest started, I got information that Mohbad was planning a musical tour to Canada between September 21 and 25.

“When I got the information, I asked someone who is based in Canada how many days it would take to travel from Nigeria to Canada and the person said it will take two days. Now, if Mohbad had a show in Canada from 21 to 25, he needed to leave Nigeria from 17 or 18.’’

At least, he had to cover two days for the trip and spend the 20th to rest since he had his first show on the 21st. So, the question I asked was how Mohbad died on the 12th. That was where the plot against me started.

“Gistlover also published a story that Mohbad’s hand was swollen following a fight after a show he had the previous night. The news said they could not get Mohbad’s personal physician to attend to him. Eventually, Mohbad died. In the same Gistlover story, it was said that an unknown person requested to have Mohbad’s phone number. The person was quoted to have said there is a contact in Mohbad’s phone which he saved with ‘Doctor’.

“The person said Mohbad used to interact with this ‘Doctor’ on Snapchat, and that the ‘Doctor’ knows many things about Mohbad; and he knew what actually killed Mohbad. About the same time, Gistlover interviewed Wunmi and asked her about Mohbad’s phone. Wunmi told Gistlover that the phone was with Mohbad’s family. The second day, Mohbad’s father denied being with the phone in an interview. He said Mohbad’s phone was with his wife, Wunmi. So, I did a post about the confusion over the phone issue. I did an analysis and asked why the confusion over Mohbad’s phone; why can’t we have the phone and lay the matter to rest if that will help us to resolve the mystery behind Mohbad’s death?

“In the process of analysing the Gistlover story, a woman called me from Canada. It was that woman who revealed to me that the ‘Doctor’ in Mohbad’s phone contact was not a doctor but a show promoter who was behind Mohbad’s planned Canada trip. She said the promoter’s name is Mr George. The woman begged me not to reveal her identity because the said promoter is her brother. She said the promoter is also close to Naira Marley who signed Mohbad on his record label. So, because the promoter knew how Naira Marley could react, he planned to make the Canada tour a secret until Mohbad got to Canada.

“The woman said the promoter also kept Mohbad’s plan a secret because he wanted to make it a surprise to Bella Shmurda who was in Canada at that time. According to the woman, before Mohbad’s Canada visa was ready, the promoter had called him on Saturday, September 9, 2023, to inform him that the visa would be ready the next day. On Monday, September 11, 2023, the woman said the promoter expected Mohbad to have replied to him but he did not. And when they called all his numbers from Sunday till Monday, they were all switched off. Until Tuesday when news came out that Mohbad had died.

“I was sent screenshots of the promoter’s chats with the woman and video of Bella Shmurda with the promoter in Canada to back my reports. I don’t accept information that has no proof on my platform.

“Some people didn’t believe the woman’s story when I narrated it on my show. They came on my show attacking me and claiming that Mohbad was not going to Canada alone, he was going with Wunmi. They said I was just cooking up stories, that Mohbad’s death should not be linked to the Canada visa issue. Someone even called in during my live show and said Mohbad had no show in Canada but the US. That person tried to distract me, saying the Canada information I got was wrong. But I was not bothered because the information I got was valid.

“As I ended my show that night, a woman also sent me the Canada show flier printed by the promoter and claimed that Mohbad was actually travelling to Canada with Wunmi. But I ignored it. I later discovered many things on Instagram that convinced me that, indeed, Mohbad’s death had something to do with the planned Canada tour. My conclusion was that Mohbad’s killers seized the opportunity of the secret travel plans to kill him. All of these I analysed in my post.

“Recently, Wunmi made an update which was published by an online newspaper that some people were bullying and threatening her life, vowing to kidnap her and they were also cursing her baby, Liam. The people mentioned were placed in two categories. The first category was listed in a petition filed by the Falana Chambers. The second persons were mentioned in a news conference. In this category, my name was mentioned. They said I was among those threatening Wunmi with death and kidnap via phone calls.

“And my response to that claim was that anyone who has any of my video shows where I posted Wunmi and her son and threatened them should produce it. Then, the number which they said was used to call and threaten Wunmi, why have they not produced it, including the voice notes they claimed was used to threaten her? At least, they will be able to identify the callers’ voices from the notes. Meanwhile, I have video proof of how Wunmi’s people were placing curses on my person and others.”

Why we have not concluded investigation on MohBad’s death – Police

The Lagos State Police Command has given an update on the investigation on the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as MohBad.

The state lolice spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated in an interview with Punch that they wouldn’t rush the investigation without proper direction or embark on a guesswork.

He emphasised the need to wait for the autopsy report as he claimed the command hasn’t received the report from the pathologists.

Hundeyin disclosed the situation report on the deceased in a bid to respond to the demands of a civil society organisation, the Take It Back Movement, who during a Thursday press conference in Ikeja, Lagos, sought the conclusion of the investigation into Mohbad’s case.

The Head of the Gender Department of the group, Omolola Pedro, in a statement called on the police to “stop the needless delays, make public its findings from the investigation, and protect the rights of the deceased’s wife and child.”

The organisation also feared that prolonged delay in the probe was capable of exposing MohBad’s wife, Wumi, and child, Liam “to several attacks like cyberbullying, cyberstalking, organised malicious campaigns against their persons, and even physical harassment” alleging that this was “the same fate MohbBad suffered while he was alive.”

Pedro added that the police “must immediately conclude the investigation and make its findings public.”

Reacting to this, Hundeyin said: “We’re not the pathologists who carried out the autopsy

“When they (the pathologists) give us their report, we’ll conclude our investigation. For now, that’s what we’re waiting for. Except they want us to do guesswork, we can’t guess; we need to get the report and see the content of the result and we don’t have it yet.”

The Nation reported that MohBad on September 12, 2023 died under mysterious circumstances which sparked rage amongst netizens and also prompted the Nigeria police to set up an investigative team to determine what led to the singer’s demise.

Recall that, Hundeyin had tweeted in September that an “autopsy has been concluded” on Mohbad’s corpse and the police were “awaiting result.”
