Herdsmen attacks: Transcript of Oyedepo’s warning

Transcript of message for the nation by Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith World Outreach aka Winners Chapel.

Prophets have a duty to warn people, nation against impending danger.

I am sent as a prophet to the nation and God grants me access to divine confidentialities of nations.

I have this wake up call for a nation in a state of slumber.

Insurgency is spreading across the country under the guise of Fulani herdsmen. Danger is looming.

For example, how many of these killers have been brought to book since their campaign of carnage, death and destruction began, one may ask?

A nationwide crisis is in the offing than may be worse than anyone around knows.

Tell me the morality behind some strangers who are doing their business as cattle rearers overrunning  your farm with your labour and graze  their cattle on your crop and when you challenge them, they kill you.

Where are the leaders of thoughts in Nigeria? Where is the government and that continues unabated. We are sitting on a keg of gun powder. There is volatile reaction coming and God revealed this to me as far back as 1992, clearly written in my diary.

Nigeria shall not be destroyed. God shall trouble all that trouble the peace and progress of this nation.

The destiny of our nation has never been under the threat of survival as it is today. People may soon be forced to take the law into their hands. The security apparatus of the country has obviously failed to defend the property and lives of these poor farmers.

While we are claiming to be curtailing Boko Haram, we are on the other hand aiding and abetting herdsmen and their murderous acts.

Nigeria is a nation at war with ourselves.  No external aggression from aggressors, no ethnic crisis, no natural disaster, yet we are doing mass burial. What a nation in a state of slumber.

Hear the voice of God through this prophet, the soul of Nigeria is near the point of death.

Citizens of these nation are fast becoming endangered species, God have mercy.

Let me ask these pertinent questions that borders on the conscience of a nation and its leaders.

    Is cattle business government business?

Should farmers be killed for Fulani herdsmen to live?

Should all the farmers leave their farms today for fear of Fulani herdsmen?

As the last time I knew, Nigeria still produces less than 20 percent of what it consumes and ask me what it the contribution of herdsmen to the GDP of this country. What is come to this country?

There is more to this low response of government to addressing this issue which is definitely a time bomb

Does Nigerian land belong to Fulani herdsmen?

There has never been this kind of assault on the intelligence of the people like we are having now.

Should you allocate my father’s land to Fulani herdsmen? No.

Are they now the customary land owners of every state, town, cities, villages and hamlets in Nigeria?

There is danger in the offing; every community may soon set up their own security system to defend themselves against the insurgency of the Fulani herdsmen.

Can the citizens still trust the security agencies of this nation to protect them? You will be vulnerable for life.

When citizens cannot trust the security a state of anarchy is in view. Insurrection may also be on the way. These largely unchecked activities of the Fulani herdsmen may eventually choke the soul of Nigeria to death, God forbid.

    Is Nigeria project still working?

Without justice there cannot be peace. You don’t step on my toes and say let’s have peace. We can’t have peace but exchange of blows.

Caution, let politicians be warned, don’t sell off the destinies of men for your ambitions.

True leaders mind the coming generations. Nigeria is rescued.  Let no religious bigot say to me what is your concern?. By the grace of God, one out every 150 Nigerian is under my apostolic coverage. You are not a leader by elective office; you are a leader by the number of people you have responsibility for.

I am answerable to God on what happens to them. You can’t kill their fathers and mothers in the name of being in power. It is enough. When prophets speak God confirms it. These wicked forces will be visited by vengeance.

Is our sense of value for human lives still alive? I don’t know.  What I know is that it is not alive.

Today human lives are now being slain for cattles without any drastic interventions from relevant security agents.

Should men and women continue to lay their lives down for cattles ?

There is no nation on the earth where the defense of cattle is more than the defense of human lives.

How are these killers making away with their murderous acts? They must have the backings of some powers that be. Any right thinking Nigerian will speculate same.

Is Boko haram not spreading strategically across the nation?

How many cows will a Fulani man sell to buy a AK47? which now cost about N3m a piece.

A cow, the fattest is N180-200,000. To buy five riffles, equals N15m.

You don’t hire security guard in a room and parlour. Some fellows supply these guns and you cannot tell how much stockpiles of arms they have.

Nigeria is becoming an endangered nation where any group of persons may attempt to overrun the nation. Caution, Caution, Caution Caution  to everyone responsible for the affairs of this nation.

God has sent me to warn this nation, a flood of evil is at the door.

Oyedepo calls for peaceful succession to Olomu throne in Kwara

Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church (a.k.a Winners Chapel ) has called for peaceful succession to the throne of Olomu of Omu-Aran in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara.

Oyedepo, an indigene of Omu-Aran, made the call on Tuesday during an annual general meeting of Omu-Aran Development Association (ODA) held at Omu-Aran City Complex.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the throne became vacant following the death of 64-year-old Oba Charles Ibitoye on Dec. 1 during an illness.

Oyedepo urged the Olomu-in-council and the ODA leadership to ensure transparency in the selection of the next king.

“I think we are capable of handling our domestic affairs successfully by ourselves.

“We should not give room for external influence or rancour in choosing our leader or leaders.

“We have people of proven integrity and immense wisdom including professors, permanent secretaries, industrialists and the likes in our midst,” he said.

The cleric said that the death of some kingmakers within the year called for more prayers by the community.

The ODA President, Chief Bisi Adeyemi, said that the association had embraced peace, unity, education, security and infrastructure maintenance as catalysts for socio-economic development of the community.

He said that the association had given attention to the town’s waterworks, Agbaa River bridge and some road projects.

Adeyemi called for donations toward the rehabilitation of the Omu-Aran City Complex to enable it to continue to serve the purpose for which it was built.

“The community is lucky to have three 500 KVA and 300 KVA transformers to boost power supply,’’ remarked.

Chief Festus Awoniyi, the Peru Tayero of Omu-Aran, who led the Olomu-in-council, urged the people to remain united and peaceful.

He said that the council was working tirelessly to ensure that the death of Ibitoye would not create unnecessary vacuum in the administration of the community.

The Chief Imam of Omu-Aran, Alhaji Sodiq Afolayan, urged the community members to use dialogue rather than confrontation to resolve disputes.

Chief Jide Adebayo, the Chairman of Omu-Aran Festival of Clubs 2017, announced the postponement of the festival scheduled for Dec. 30.

Adebayo, a former NAN Director, said that the postponement was in honour of the late Ibitoye.

Oyedepo: Pilot reveals details of averted plane crash

Details of the recent averted plane crash involving the Presiding Bishop of the Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo and his wife has been revealed by the pilot of the aircraft Captain Samuel Adegoga.

Narrating how the accident happened , a pastor in the church, Adebisi read the report  from the aircraft’s pilot during a thanksgiving service on Friday.

“The main malfunction we had in the Cyprus-Israel flight was a stabilizer twin-motor failure. During the said flight that we had the twin motor failure, the auto-pilot could no longer exert the desired pressure to keep the aircraft in the required altitude for stability flight.

“The captain disconnected the auto-pilot,  took and returned the aircraft to the required altitude for that phase of the flight. Because the aircraft was out of trim during this takeover, the aircraft abruptly pitched off with much pitch force.

” The captain counteracted it with a pitch down force. These counter forces caused turbulence and movement in the cabin and cargo hold. Heavy items in the cargo section fell from their compartment, making a loud noise, ” the pilot wrote.

” We thank the God of this commission for making the pilot to react promptly. Similar failures in the past have resulted in fatal accidents due to lateness of pilot’s reaction, ” Adebisi added.

However, while the pilot saw the incident as mechanical malfunctioning, Bishop Oyedepo said the averted air disaster was a spiritual attack.

He went on to explain that a few days before he embarked on the journey, his  ‘father in the Lord’ and the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye had had a revelation about the incident and came over to his house unannounced to pray for him.

Bishop Oyedepo’s words: “According to the word of God, before the great and dreadful day of the Lord will hit the earth, there will be a restoration of sonship and fatherhood to the body of Christ.

” On Friday preceding the journey that we made, my father in the Lord showed up at 6:30 early in the morning and saw a vision and wasn’t sleeping, and said, ‘Lord, Lord, why seek the living among the dead? No, no…’ So, he took off and landed here before 6:30am. No, there was no idea that he was coming, and there was no discussion after it. The heart of the father will be drawn to the heart of the son to defend.

” Understand what I’m saying. You don’t have inheritance in a pastor; you don’t have in a teacher. Many of us have teachers all our lives. Did they share anything with you when they died?   Did any teacher write your name in his will? You only have an inheritance with a father. A good man leaves an inheritance for his children to inherit. Fatherhood is not an accolade, it is a revelation. So, that was not technical failure, it was a spiritual attack that Jesus averted.

Every prophet sent to you is ordained a father. Elisha shouted: ‘My father! My father!‘ He was the son of Sherphat. Elijah was not his biological father, but he was a prophet sent to him…Every prophet sent to you is sent as a father, not as brother, not as an uncle, not as a friend. I have enjoyed this kind of covering all my life. ”

Corroborating the testimony of Bishop Oyedepo, his second  son, Pastor Isaac Oyedepo, the Resident Pastor of Living Faith Church, Lokogoma, Abuja said this on October 8 :  “Very early last week Tuesday, Daddy G. O  (Pastor Enoch Adeboye) went to Bishop Oyedepo’s house unannounced, no telephone calls.

“Daddy G.O said ‘God told him to go and pray for Bishop’.  Pastor Isaac further said the message was so urgent that Daddy G.O came without Mummy G.O (his wife), it was that urgent. So Daddy G.O was just entering everywhere and praying.

“On Friday of the same week, Bishop, his wife and three other keys members ‘re on their way to Israel, when suddenly, I mean suddenly,  the auto pilot failed in the air but the Everlasting Arms showed up, miraculously brought them down, no scratch.’

Among the gospel  musicians who ministered at the special thanksgiving service were Evangelist Bola Are, Evangelist Adelakun and his Ayewa group .

Oyedepo to academics: groom future leaders

CHANCELLOR of Covenant University (CU) Ota, Ogun State Dr. David Oyedepo has urged leaders in the academia to “stop being merely bookish and start future thinkers”.

Oyedepo said his experiences with those in the academia showed that many of them were so proud of  becoming authority in their chosen fields.

The cleric urged them to go a step further by indoctrinating in young scholars the art of thinking out ideas, which would address some of the challenges plaguing the African continent.

The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide delivered the keynote address at the 54th meeting of the Committee of Deans of Post Graduate Schools (CDPGS) in Nigerian Universities at CU premises.

The four-day event, which began on Monday, will end tomorrow.

The cleric said global solution providers such as Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, the Wright Brothers and others once had a brainwave in their time, which led to great revolutions in their respective fields.

He warned Nigerians that repeated complaints would not work but that they should battle their challenges headlong.

He said: “Everywhere I go in Nigeria today, everybody continues to complain that things are not working; but who will start how things will work and when? That person is you and that time is now; and postgraduate education should serve as a platform for inciting our students into thinking solutions.  Today, it is thinkers that rule the world and we should be development-oriented in things we do.”

To make that difference, Oyedepo challenged the deans to start thinking out of the box, saying that is what would propel them to imbibe same culture into their students.

“Leadership is not being in the driver seat, but adding values. As a dean, you must start thinking what difference you are going to make in that position; what contributions in terms of innovations and feat. You have no business being in that position if you cannot make that difference that will be a reference point to your successors years after you have left.”

The cleric urged the deans to combine research with critical thinking of solutions.

Oyedepo argued that man’s biological configuration remains the same regardless of colour or height.

He added that the greatest challenge of a black man was not intellectual bankruptcy, but laziness and inability to task his thinking faculty towards realising assets that will benefit his immediate environment.

Chairman of the association Prof. Bamidele Sanni said the theme of the event: “Repositioning postgraduate education for sustainable national development: The leadership dimension” threw a challenge in their path as academic leaders, who must groom better successors.

God saved me from possible plane crash –Oyedepo

THE presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel, Dr. David Oyedepo, yesterday relived how he and others travelling with him escaped what he described as a “potential plane crash.”

The bishop shared the testimony at the ‘Breakthrough Service’ held at the church’s world headquarters in Ota, Ogun State and broadcast to all the zonal centres of the church in Ota and Lagos. Bishop Oyedepo told the congregation that the plane had a mid-air crisis, but added that “God took control and landed the plane.” Before he shared his testimony after the normal preaching, he was said to have read IICorinthians 1:8- 12 and asked the congregation to read those verses of the Bible when they got home. He then led the congregation to read Psalms 52, Isaiah 52: 1-3 and Psalms 94: 1-3, which talks about God’s vengeance against the wicked.

The bishop then told the congregation how God miraculously delivered him and the others when the plane ran into turbulence. He said: “There was a mid-air crisis, there was serious turbulence, but there was no apprehension. Jesus took control. He landed the plane safely. And we were just celebrating the faithfulness of God.” Although he did not disclose where he was going or coming from when the incident happened, a source told us that he might have been returning from London.

He, however, said he would give the details of the incident tomorrow at a thanksgiving service. After sharing the testimony, the bishop, who was said to be his vivacious self throughout, led the congregation to sing a thanksgiving chorus: Almighty God, all powerful God; you are worthy to receive all our praise, you reign forever more.

The Deputy President of the church, Bishop David Abioye, and other top pastors joined Bishop Oyedepo on the altar to dance in a wild praise and singing session.

Bishop Oyedepo said it was made known to him through divine revelation in 1979 while praying for the well-being of the country that Nigeria would never disintegrate.

“The good news is that Nigeria will rise again to glory,” he assured.

Bishop Oyedepo led members in prayer for peace and prosperity of the country.

  • Think contributions, Oyedepo challenges youths nationwide As Landmark Varsity concludes 4th convocation

Think contributions, Oyedepo challenges youths nationwide As Landmark Varsity concludes 4th convocation

“Think contributions, so you don’t die in frustrations!”

This was the charge handed over to the youths nationwide by the Chancellor Landmark University Omu Aran Kwara State, Dr David Oyedepo as the institution wrapped up its fourth convocation at the weekend.

Oyedepo who expressed his bitterness about the level of unemployment in Nigeria,  challenged youngsters and the entire Nigerians to henceforth be creative and think of how they can be productively engaged in improving the nation’s economy.

He said it is about time youths exhibited a stronger presence and determination to find their feet amid growing unemployment globally and economic recession at the home front.

Oyedepo was alluding to the new certificate and diploma in Agripreneurship, an initiative newly introduced by LMU and was conferred on graduands in addition to their various degrees in the university’s seven years’ existence.

At the convocation tagged: ‘Release of pathfinders, Noble Set Class 2017’Oyedepo said the Agripreneurship initiative was to lay bare the stark reality that youths must embrace a new paradigm in agriculture rather than searching for jobs that are no longer there.

Said Oyedepo: “The idea (behind Agricpreneusrhip) is that we realised we need to be blunt with these youths that the (white collar) jobs they are looking for are no longer there. So by this initiative, we intend to raise a new army of entrepreneurs that will be agriculturally conscious. An agric entrepreneur can never be a liability or burden, but an asset and to his country.

“No matter how highly sophisticated medical laboratory is, no single tablet produced from there however effective, can heal hunger. So until life ceases to be, food will continue to remain forever relevant.

Oyedepo who is the presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church worldwide, lamented that Nigerians generally have the ‘possessive’ and not the ‘contributory’ mindset, noting that while the former seeks to continuously amass wealth rapaciously, the latter thinks how much he can plough back from his little resources to develop the society.

“Highly possessive people are never known to be contributors. The less possessive we are as individuals, the more contributors we will be,” he added.

While the diploma in Agripreneurship is for students of the university, the certificates are meant for all regardless of individual’s qualification, the cleric said, adding that LMU would remain committed to propagating the gospel of agrarian revolution, which is its core mandate.

“This initiative is our modest contributions of encouraging Nigerians to take part in agricultural revolution. Interestingly, we do not need so much to start. You can begin a small garden in your home or at your backyard and from there begin to expand. We must all be a part in addressing food insecurity in Nigeria and africa,” he concluded.

Keynote speaker and immediate past Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Prof Suleiman Bogoro; challenged universities to come up with groundbreaking research that will address some of the challenges in agriculture in Nigeria.

Speaking on the theme: ‘Revolutionising Agriculture: A catalyst for up-scaling development and transformation in Africa’ Bogoro described as ‘unacceptable’ the fact that Nigeria still imports about 45 per cent food. This, he said, is despite Federal Government identifying about 14 ecological zones where Nigeria has comparative advantage on crop production.

“At the moment we are importing 45 per cent of our food. That is unacceptable!,” Bogoro bemoaned.

“We hoped we would have stopped rice importation two years ago. Now we are still importing it.”

To further generate money for the economy, Bogoro urged governments to invest more in the livestock subsector over crop.

“Nigeria has invested inadequately in the livestock subsector. At the moment we have about 12 research institutes that are crop=based; but in livestock there are only two. That is lopsided. In developed countries, you get more support from the livestock subsector than the crop,” he said.

Bogoro continued: “There are problems that are basically agriculture including value addition. We just started exporting cassava and yams a few weeks ago, but Ghana has been doing that. Someone said Ghana has been exporting Nigerian yams and they have their way of getting them over to Ghana. This is an embarrassment to us because we are the one producing it. We need to meet international market requirement for packaging them.”

Earlier the vice Chancellor LMU, Prof Aize Obayan, recalled that the 468 graduands that bowed out of the institution yesterday, was led by the best graduating student Oluwatobi Oladiran a graduate of Accounting with Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.88.

Aside having all its programmes accredited by the National Universities Commission, Obayan said LMU is championing an economic diversification, particularly towards agriculture.

“We have come to realize that economic diversification holds great potential to increasing Africa’s resilience and fortune. The path to unlocking prosperity in Africa lies in promoting effective agric strategies. Interestingly, many experts agreed that the economic development prospects in Africa depend on efficient sustainable agricultural productivity. Landmark University could not have come at a better time to spearhead agrarian revolution,” she concluded,

  • No war in Nigeria, Oyedepo declares

The presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church, David Oyedepo, said yesterday that there will be no war in Nigeria despite the tension generated by recent ethnic and religious clashes in parts of the country.

But he challenged the nation’s leadership to stop “playing the ostrich and speak out the truth through dialogue.”

‘The  Nigerian situation needs urgent attention,” he said at the 12th convocation of the Covenant University,Otta,Ogun State.

Oyedepo, who is also the Chancellor of the university, condemned the incessant killings of innocent people by Fulani herdsmen.

“I sometimes wonder where they have the means to buy AK47 when possessing arms in this country is illegal,” he said, warning that  any attempt to turn Nigeria into a mono-religious state will create tension.

“You cannot say you are preaching peace while using your power to crush some sections of the people. It will not work.

“This is our homeland. No one will come and solve our problems for us. We must look for indigenous solutions to them,” he said.

One hundred and eighty-eight of the  1,426 graduands at yesterday’s convocation  bagged  the first class degree. The rest, according to Vice-Chancellor (VC) Aaron Atayero, graduated at 568 (second class upper division), 322 (second class lower division), 47(third class), and 301 post graduate degrees.

Atayero described the new set as ‘thinkers and world changers’ trained with the right mindset to hold their heads among their contemporaries anywhere.

“Covenant University has continued to be at the cutting edge of innovation and research in proffering solution to the nation’s challenges, ” the VC said.

He also advised them to be a purposeful contributor toward the development of the nation.

Former Vice-President and Secretary General, African Development Bank, and keynote speaker, Cecilia Akintomide, identified graduates, research, knowledge dissemination and societal transformation and economic development as four key products that defines a university.

Akintomide, noted that resources available for public universities are limited, henceforth private sector must be encouraged in providing quality university education.

She urged the Federal Government to initiate indigent scholarship programmes so that more youth can achieve their dreams and contribute to national development.

  • Oyedepo laments Nigeria’s dependence on food import

BISHOP, Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has described the country’s over-dependence on imported agriculture produce as dangerous.

Oyedepo, lamented that   Nigeria that is blessed with abundant resources has no need for importing chickens. By doing so, he said, Nigeria has brought in diseases unknowingly with imported food.

The senior cleric stated this in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, at the convocation lecture of Landmark University, Omu-Aran.

He said neglecting agriculture is tantamount to mortgaging the future of Nigeria.

Oyedepo said: “We must shift from theory to things that address human issues. We need to come back, to the real issues confronting use. We need to start creating solutions. A country that is enormously blessed as Nigeria has no basis to import chickens from any part of the world.

“We must invest in agricultural service to create the future of our dream, and that is raw agric practices.

“We can solve our problems if we are committed enough, but I don’t think we are that committed. Everybody must play his own part in solving the problem of food security in the world. Africa is the worst hit by the food insecurity ravaging the world. Let us give the people in other parts of the world the impression that Nigerians are thinking.”

Earlier, the convocation lecturer, who is the Managing Partner, Sahel Capital AgriBusiness Managers, Menzuo Nwunei, said  Nigeria is not self-sufficient in food production, as it imports over 45 percent of its food needs.

“Nigeria’s food imports have historically grown at a rate of 11 per cent per year. The country’s major dependence on food imports is hurting local production, reducing local farmers’ welfare and contributing to increasing unemployment,” Nwunei said.

“Domestic inflation at about 18 per cent is fuelled in part, by the demand for expensive food imports. The demand for food imports has placed download pressure on the value of the naira and contributed to depleting foreign reserves,” he added

He said Nigeria’s import dependency is uneconomically sustainable and, therefore, should be unacceptable.

According to him, agriculture is the most important sector of  the  economy, but remains dominated by smallholder farmers who operate at a subsistence level.

Quoting the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the guest speaker said that between 2007 and last year, over $113 billion was the foreign investment in Nigeria.

“Of and agribusiness-related investments, the preponderance of the investment went into activities outside the major cities. About $427 million was geared towards agribusiness-related investments,” he added.

“Even with this increase in investment, over $5 billion is needed to provide required financing for farmers and agribusinesses,” he added.
