  • RCCG moves to new 3-kilometre -by-3-kilometre auditorium

The cloud has moved and when it moves, you have to move with it.”

This was how General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye announced the readiness of the church’s new 3-kilometre-by-3 –kilometre auditorium to host big events henceforth.

It was the highlight of the September Holy Ghost Service of the church at the expansive Redemption Camp penultimate weekend.

The service with the theme ‘fruitfulness’ started when the auditorium, parked full with thousands, erupted in rapturous praise and dancing to the testimonies of four women who were barren for years.

One of them had been told by doctors she had no fallopian tubes.

Mrs. Julie Onawiena, testified: “I was 11 years barren after marriage and I had been to many places –herbalists, churches and hospitals- in search of the fruit of the womb.

“In one of those places, an herbalist made me swallow 7 boiled eggs in a minute and in one church they bathed me in the night and told me to walk backwards without looking back.

“All that yielded nothing. In one hospital in Abuja, where I live, I was told after a thorough examination that I had no fallopian tubes.

“In one of the Church’s programmes in1995, Daddy GO (Pastor Adeboye) relayed a word of knowledge he had received from God that there was a woman in the congregation who had no fallopian tubes but God was going to give her one. I jumped at it.

“I made a vow to God that if He blessed me with a child, I would name him Samuel and return him to God when he clocked 20 years to serve Him.

“In June this year, the child born without fallopian tube was 20, and I came to give Samuel to God as I vowed.”

Obviously because of what was to happen to the thousands of people under his voice that night, Adeboye told them to greet each other “Happy New Year,” suggesting a turnaround.

At a point, he said the presence of the Holy Spirit was so high that he felt like jumping.

He issued many decrees and prophecies of turnaround from fruitlessness to fruitfulness.

In the end, he also prayed for a new beginning for Nigeria; for the end of economic hardship and for full restoration.

Citing many biblical passages on that “extraordinary night,” Adeboye proved that God loves fruitfulness and hates fruitlessness.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos Province 23, Prince of Peace Area 25, has raised its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative with a brand new block of offices, new concrete cell with detainees’ private toilet, a borehole and repainting of the Langbasa Police Station in Badore, Ajah, in Eti-Osa Local Government, Lagos.

The renovation of the 57-year old Police Station, which cost over N2.5million, is a follow up to the church’s February, last year’s donation of  N2.2million storm-water drainage system in the area as a response to the outcry of the community, which had long suffered uncontrolled flooding with associated health and environmental consequences.

Describing the police station project as another land mark CSR project of the church, the General Overseer, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, said the church will continue to use its CSR as a tool of helping mankind.

Pastor Adeboye, represented by his Special Assistant (Missions), Pastor Brown Oyitso, at the opening of the new building, listed the CSR objectives of the church to include promotion of good corporate governance in the church’s neighbourhood, complementing government’s efforts on employment generation, evangelism, enhancing church growth, especially among the youth, promoting RCCG community relationship and development.

The Pastor-in-Charge of Prince of Peace Area 25, Lagos Province 23, Folusho Koku, said the church’s efforts entailed the remodelling and reconstruction of the Langbasa Police Office Project that was initially designed for an office and car park to a modern block of three offices with conveniences in each office.

He said: “We have helped to decongest the single detention cell by building an additional and extended concrete cell. The new cell has a toilet and the walls tiled. We have provided a new air conditioner for the DPO’s office in the new building and are providing five triple seater metal chairs taken from our inventor in the church. The church has also repainted the police station and cemented the floors of the internal frontage of the station. A professional organisation was engaged to avail the officers neat and fresh occupation of their new offices. Arrangement has also been made for tables and chairs to be delivered soon.”

Expressing appreciation for the exemplary gesture, the Area Commander, Area ‘J’ Elemoro, ACP Kayode Samuel, who represented the Commissioner of Police and Divisional Police Officer, Langbasa Division, CSP Joy Agulanna, said the church’s gesture exemplified the Commissioner of Police’s insistence on very good community policing, which is germane to democratic policing strategy. ‘’This singular effort as expressed by the senior officers has spurred officers and men of the Division to be more proactive, effective and dedicated in the discharge of their duties, ‘’ he said.

Pastor Akindoye who doubles as the clergy in charge of LP 37 said each pastoral department/every Area in the Provinces is commissioned to prayerfully select a CSR that will benefit its hosting community, so Beautiful Gate Area, Zone 12, Lagos Province 37 chose nursing mothers and their children. “This is not a run off exercise but will be sustained. Children are the Heritage of the Lord,” he said.

The Area Pastor in charge of Beautiful Gate Area Adeniran Onajobi added that the CSR is in fulfillment of the mandate of the General Overseer (GO) to give back to the society, “in this Meiran community, there are a lot of challenges. We are tackling them though the church’s CSR. Like today, we are giving diapers to children through their mothers with the hope that they live a healthier life, through improved hygiene. When a child is well taken care of the mother is at peace, and ready to carry on with other beneficial things. If the child is ill the mother is distracted, unhappy and cannot concentrate, no wonder the Bible described them as a weaker vessel. RCCG donates 12-classroom block to primary school

Nigerians may have come to accept that the government alone cannot provide the country’s infrastructure requirements. Individuals, communities, corporate and religious bodies are intervening in providing such infrastructure either as a corporate social responsibility initiative or a public-private partnership scheme.

Last Monday, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Solid Rock Parish, under the Lagos Province (LP) 40, handed over a storey building comprising 12 classrooms to Ojodu Primary School in Ikeja Local Government Area, Lagos State.

At the handing over, Lagos State Governor Akinwumi Ambode reiterated his administration’s commitment to breach the gaps in academics and infrastructure development.

The governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh, said he sought to achieve the task through public-private-partnerships (PPP) with organisations and individuals, to cater to the state’s teeming population.

“We are very happy to accept this edifice from the RCCG. The success of Lagos State is its problem, because it constantly attracts migration, which causes overpopulation in our schools and other areas. So, we cannot do this alone. We emphasise our ‘adopt a school initiative’ for organisations to partner us to take care of our schools. We need more public-private-partnerships like this.We are committed to closing the gaps between private and public schools through such projects,” Bank-Olemoh said. With buildings, such as this, he explained, the gap between private and public schools in the state are gradually being bridged.

Handing over the classroom block to the school, Pastor-in-Charge (PiC) RCCG Region 19, Pastor Femi Atoyebi noted that LP 40 the success of the project goes to God.

“Without God’s power, we would not have been able to accomplish this project. We have tried to tar some roads in Ikeja and they did not let us do it. We are ready to support the state government and we decided to do that without looking back. This Parish would seek to build a replica of this project in public schools in Lagos annually,” he assured.

The PiC of the Province, Pastor Bola Odutola, said the church sought to ease the government of the huge resources required to provide quality education to its students.

He said: “We would agree that irrespective of the richness of a school curriculum, the environment for learning also plays a key role as it must be relatively conducive for effective learning to take place.

‘’This is part of our reason for this structure we are handing over today.”
