If God hadn’t intervened, $1 could have been N10,000 by now – Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said without divine intervention, the exchange rate could have soared to ₦10,000 to $1.

Speaking during the Special Holy Ghost Congress in Abuja, Adeboye linked Nigeria’s financial struggles to its heavy reliance on fuel imports, despite being a significant oil-producing nation.

He criticised the billions spent on refineries that remain non-functional, forcing the country to depend on imported petrol.

Addressing the contentious removal of fuel subsidies, Adeboye remarked that the decision angered those who had profited under the previous system, further exacerbating Nigeria’s economic woes.

“We need help, and it’s not human help; it’s divine help,” he emphasised.

Adeboye highlighted that the root of Nigeria’s financial difficulties predates the current administration, pointing to the ongoing importation of petrol despite abundant oil resources.

“Before our current President took office, we were aware that the root of our financial issues lay in the importation of petrol. Despite having oil, we continued to import petrol and waste billions on refineries that did not operate effectively.

“When the President cancelled the subsidy on petrol imports, those who benefited from it became upset and created more problems,” he added.

Reflecting on the naira’s rapid devaluation, Adeboye said he turned to prayer and expressed gratitude for others who joined him.

“If God hadn’t intervened, $1 could have been worth ₦10,000 by now. This illustrates how much we need prayers,” he said.

I’ve never had s3x with male teenagers – Suspended RCCG Pastor

Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello, recently suspended by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG)  has denied allegation of homos3xuality.

In an Instagram post, AdeBello addressed the claims, with explanation that his initial silence was misconstrued as admission of guilt, prompting his response.

In his statement, he denied demanding s3x from males for assistance or positions, stating God is the sole authority in granting positions and platforms.

AdeBello expressed disappointment at the misrepresentation of his words on WhatsApp, taken out of context to portray him falsely.

He wrote in a statement: “In the past few days, some allegations were made against me and some others via a blog on social media known as Gist Lover.

“I had wanted to respond immediately when it was brought to my attention, but I was advised not to, as I was not the only one named, and all of us may have been mentioned to drive engagement on the blog.

“However, as these allegations have escalated to criminal claims, I am compelled to respond as my prolonged silence has been misconstrued as an admission of guilt.”

He continued, “I have NEVER demanded s3x from any male as payment or gratification to give them assistance, platforms or positions. God is the only king-maker, the only One who can raise and erase kings, and give positions and platforms.

“I have NEVER had s3x with (*******) or proposed s3x to him for any reason.

“The questions in the screenshot were asked during a conversation in a male teenager WhatsApp group where discussions regarding Male Reproductive Health and self-esteem took place.

“The teenagers were taught about the right hygiene for reproductive health, the right kind of underwear to buy, and that the girth and length determine the underwear size. I also explained that their sizes should not affect their self-esteem and that they are perfectly and uniquely created by God.

“It is disheartening to see that the screenshot message has now been mischievously quoted out of context to portray me as someone who has s3x with male teenagers.”

RCCG’s suspension letter, signed by National Overseer Sunday Akande, cited serious homos3xuality allegations and ordered a thorough investigation.

Adeboye apologises over non-tithers won’t make heaven sermon

The General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has apologised for one of his past teachings on tithing.

The cleric had said in one of his messages that anybody who does not pay tithe will not make heaven.

However, while ministering at the ongoing youth convention on Thursday, Adeboye apologised for his position on the issue.

He said: “I am sorry for saying that if you don’t pay tithe you won’t go to heaven. That is not in the Bible. What the Bible says is, follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man will make heaven.”

“It is possible to be right and wrong at the same time.  I will prove it to you. For years, we taught that light travels in a straight line. Later we say it travels in waves.”

He however told the youths that it was wrong to have limited people to “10 percent when some of you should be giving 20 percent, 30 percent, etc.  10 percent should be for beginners. Giving should be done violently. If you want to be on top to control finances you will give beyond 10 percent.”

The RCCG overseer recalled his experience at one of the conventions of the ministry of Kenneth E Hagin in Tulsa, US where a man made a promise to give more than all what the 17,000 participants at the convention gave.

He said all participants had given about 3.5 million dollars towards the building of the Rhema Bible College. But the man promised he was going to give more than what everybody gave towards the project.

When Adeboye asked the man the secret of his sacrificial giving lifestyle, he told him how he had started a business with 500 dollars and told God if he blessed him, he would not insult Him with 10 percent.

Five years after the man started the business, he was making a turnover of 50 million dollars,  Adeboye said .

He added: “I am sorry for saying you should pay 10 percent. If we are going to dominate, we have to give violently.”

RCCG hosts Int’l shift talent hunt, gifts 10,000,000 cash prize, car

The Youth and Young Adults Global Worldwide, part of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has launched the much-anticipated Season 2 of its International Shift Talent Hunt.

The audition and award event kicked off on September 23 and will continue until October 5, 2024, at Redemption Camp.

Nollywood actress and judge, Chioma Ifemeludike emphasised the importance of organizing programs like this to discover and nurture talent, urging for a supportive environment to help individuals grow and contribute meaningfully.

“Programmes like this are important because they help to, firstly, discover the talents and, secondly, create a platform for them, a platform to empower. Because it’s one thing to discover them, it’s another thing to groom them and give them an enabling environment where their talents would be useful to them and the society at large”, she said.

Pastor of Ambassadors Youth Church, Asaba, Delta State, and aviation security officer with Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Bamigboye Adekoyejo urged the government to invest in talent discovery and development by organizing programs like SHIFT.

He also advised the contestants to be versatile and leverage the use of social media, noting that it provides greater good to their careers.

“The importance of social media, especially in this present world where we are so conspicuous cannot be overemphasized, it gets to all the nooks and crannies of the world.

“As we are just here in the four walls of this building, whatever we do here, they can see it in Papua New Guinea, they can see it in Brazil, they can see it in the U.S., and they can see it everywhere. So, social media is a tool that I think the Holy Spirit himself invented to be used in this modern-day world for the gospel and everything we are doing to be propagated and shown all around the world. So, for us to be known, we must leverage the power of social media.”

Gospel artist, Paul Nams advised parents to be essential in the talent development of their children, he said today’s parents are more concerned with training their kids to become successful in a particular career neglecting their in-born talents.

“It’s very, very important for parents to, you know, when raising a child, to know the gifting of the child. And when you know the gifting of the child, it helps you to train the child in the direct direction where the child should go.

“But today, the parents we have, most of the parents we have, we just want children to become doctors, lawyers, because that is what we feel they’re going to make it in life. But that’s not the truth. When you’re able to discover the passion of a child, channel the child to that very passion, and you discover that not long from then, the child becomes a great child. All right you mentioned earlier that you’re a gospel artist so um this is more of a Christian um congregation where talents have been unlocked.”

The International Shift Talent Hunt being powered by RCCG Youth is set to identify, harness, and promote dedicated Christians with talents, ensuring dedicated Christians with talent are given a platform.

Speaking with the International Director for the International Shift Talent Hunt, Engineer Steve Oze, he said the International Shift Talent Hunt season 2 is a part of the Youth Convention-themed Dominion adding that the program.

“What we do is to bridge the gap of talent and opportunity, there’s this saying that opportunities are all over the place, skills are all over the place but opportunities and skills need to be connected and that’s what we So currently what we are doing right now, this is a vision of the church and to the glory of God this is rebranded, it’s called SHIFT, alright, so this is a rebranded SHIFT.

Oze further added that the talent hunt has been remodelled and that an academy has been established to train talented Nigerians in different areas of career building and management.

“We have converted International SHIFT talent into what we call International SHIFT Academy, for the past six months we’ve been training them, teaching them, not just in music, not just in drama, not just in unusual creativity but on social media, because they need to know the world has gone global, so they need to know how to grow, grow themselves, market their skills digitally, because the world is digital right now.

The body called on the government, private bodies, and other organizations to support the initiative and bring the realities of these talents into the limelight.

“We need sponsorships, we need corporate bodies to be part of this, especially the financial sector these people are talented and gifted individuals and it’s important they also become your customers well imagine having over 500 to one thousand one thousand customers base as well so we need sponsorship we need to drive this vision for this youth.

“I’m calling on the nation I’m calling on everyone people who have a vision to empower the youth please come forward, particularly the dedicated Christians we want this to be we want this international shift to be a successful Christian reality show so that is what we are doing right now these children these youths they are slipping away from the Christian world they are slipping away into the secular but want to give them there is what china best to match up or to get a standard applicable.”
