I left home because she denies me sex, says man

A 39-year-old man, Abuzeidu Umoru, has pleaded with a Lagos Island Customary Court, to dissolve his 10-year-old marriage to his wife, Adewunmi.

The petitioner, a native of Niger Republic, said his wife does not respect him and does whatever she pleases.

“I love my wife wholeheartedly, but she doesn’t believe she is meant to be submissive to her husband. It got to a stage she denied me sex and I left home last December,” he said.

Umoru who confessed having another woman he wants to marry said he ‘loves’ his wife more.

“The girl is from Maiduguri and she is still schooling; when she is done, I shall marry her. My coming to court is not my wish but my wife is not cooperating with me. I saw her through nursing school and catered for her needs. I am still an illiterate. I don’t know the reasons for her actions. I want the end of our union and the custody of our eight-year-old son while our daughter lives with her,” he said.

The respondent, Mrs Umoru, in her defence, said she also did not know where things went wrong.

The 39-year-old nurse said when she got pregnant of her second child, her mother-in-law visited and asked her to prepare her food but since she was tired, her husband volunteered to do the cooking.

She said:”After that day, my husband changed towards me. When I asked him what the problem was, he said I should ask his mum who was living with us at that time. When I went to beg her, she referred me to my husband’s brother. “Only for both of them to tell me that if I want peace to reign, I must vacate the flat in which  I was living with my husband and move to a one room apartment.”

She said the room was in a bad condition when she moved there.

She further said that in 2013, her mother-in-law said her husband was going to marry another wife and there was nothing she could do.

“If it is his wish to marry another wife, I am not against it. I am just baffled over what is happening,” shae added.

The Court’s President, Chief Awos Awosola, advised the couple to be peaceful and adjourned the matter till today.

  • Court dissolves 14-year-old marriage over sex

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos yesterday dissolved the 14-year-old marriage between Mrs Adeola Adelani and her husband, Olajide, after the wife said she had been sex-starved for eight-years.

In his judgment, the court’s President, Mr Hakeem Oyekan, said the estranged couple were tired of the marriage and all efforts to reconcile both parties had failed.

Oyekan ruled: “Since both parties consented to the dissolution of their marriage, this court has no choice than to dissolve the marriage. The couple can no longer stay together because the marriage has broken down totally; both parties are no longer husband and wife, they are free to go their separate ways.

“Both parties are to keep the peace all the time; any violation of the order should be reported to the police for redress.”

The petitioner, Adeola, 39, had approached the court seeking to dissolve her marriage to Olajide for allegedly refusing to make love to her for eight years.

She told the court that she was married to Olajide about 14 years ago and had a 12-year-old son with him.

“My husband refused to make love to me for eight years. I want to have another baby because our son is 12-year-old and I am not satisfied with only one child,’’ she said.

The petitioner accused her husband of abandoning her and their child for an unknown destination since 2013.

She alleged that her husband had refused to disclose where he lives and where he works, but said that he always sent his son’s school fees and house rent through her bank account.

Mrs Olajide said her husband told her pastor that he had married another woman and had children, and that she should find another husband for herself.

The petitioner said she was a sad woman with neighbours referring to her as a “rejected and abandoned property.’’

She begged the court to dissolve the marriage because she wanted to move on with her life.

    Olajide, 45, a businessman,

Woman to court: My hubby is sexually weak

A 39-year-old fashion designer, Mrs Farotimi Titilayo, has pleaded with an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve her eight-year-old marriage on grounds of sexual denial and neglect.

Titilayo, who resides at Nosiru St., Eyita, Ikorodu, told the court that her husband, Amos, grossly denied her sex before they deserted each other.

“My husband was sexually imbalance before I left him in 2011; I reported him to his family but they pleaded on his behalf.

“I bought him drugs to correct his sexual weakness but he refused to take them.

“We have been living separately for over four years now because he refused to find solution to his problems.

“I want this court to officially divorce this marriage because I want to move on with my life; I don’t want to bear his name anymore,’’ she said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the respondent was not in court even though he was said to have been served after court’s notices three times.

The Court President, Mr. Olu Adebiyi, said that the court could not continue to delay hearing of the case as the respondent had been absent at proceedings several times.

He, however, said “we will still serve the husband one more time to see if he will attend the next court date.’’

Adebiyi adjourned the case to Sept. 2.

  • Lagos records 120 rape cases, convicts 140 sex offenders

Lagos State Government recorded no fewer than 12, 120 rape cases and other sexual violence matters in the last four years.
State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Mr. Ade Ipaye, who disclosed this on Monday  said the government in the last one year also convicted about 140 sex offenders.
Ipaye explained that one of those convicted was a notorious rapist that bagged life imprisonment.
He said the government established the domestic and sexual violence response team to improve the safety of vulnerable persons and ensure offender are prosecuted.
Ipaye said the team facilitated the signing of the Executive Order that established the Sex Offenders’ Register.
He also informed that the Office of the Public Defender (OPD) in the last one-year recorded 526 rape cases, with 227 still pending in court., while adding that at least 15 judgment were made, ranging from life to seven years imprisonment.
Ipaye further stressed that OPD in the last four years also recorded about 12, 120 rape cases.
He added that the OPD, the agency saddled with responsibility of providing legal aid services to indigent citizens, had handled over 15,000 matters on behalf of indigent Lagosians at no cost.
“These matters cut across labour cases, civil matters, criminal cases, coroner’s inquests and fundamental rights cases. This brings the number of matters that OPD has been involved in the past four years to 30,998.
“OPD also facilitated the collection of over N42m as compensation on behalf of complainants in the last one year. All together in the past four years, OPD has assisted Lagosians to collect N152m as compensation.
“During the period under review, OPD secured 49 judgments in favour of its clients. These judgments include those who were discharged and acquitted by the Court after spending several years in prison, following applications by OPD. Of note is the case of one Nnami Igbele, a 42-year-old man who had spent 8 years in custody before being discharged. In another landmark case, six men who were arrested and charged for the offence of manslaughter in 2006 were provided free legal service by OPD and were eventually discharged and acquitted at the conclusion of their trial,” he said.
The commissioner added that 3,083 offenders were sentenced to various terms of community service across the 12 Magisterial Districts of Lagos State between January 2014 and February 2015.
“With regard to criminal prosecutions, out of the 795 police investigation files sent to the Department of Public Prosecution’s (DPP) office for legal advice, the Unit has already completed work on 716 (90.1 per cent) while the rest are still being processed, many requiring additional information or further investigation by the Police or other relevant agency.
“The Directorate of Public Prosecutions is engaged in the prosecution of 1,069 criminal cases in all courts. This figure includes the 786 cases which are currently being prosecuted at the Federal and the State High Courts as well as 54 and 11respectively at the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. The number is also inclusive of the 218 cases at the Magistrate Courts. In addition to the 1,069 active criminal prosecution files, DPP’s office is also handling 160 applications for enforcement of Fundamental Rights.”

Edo ringleader of child sex smuggling gang extradited to UK

A 36-year old Nigerian mother of one, Franka Asemota, was last week arrested in Benin City, the Edo state capital, and extradited to the United Kingdom.

She was accused of being Ring Leader of an International child sex smuggling gang.

The arrest which was carried out by men of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (NAPTIP) who has been working with the National Crime Agency of the UK since 2011 took place at a fancy shop located neat New Benin market in Benin City, believed to be proceeds of money laundering.

One of the charges against Asemota according to Police sources is that she accompanied about 40 victims of sex trafficking on eight separate flights into Heathrow airport, London, UK, between 2011 and 2012.

The lady who is facing extradition to Britain, where she is wanted for organising a network that trafficked young women — most aged under 18 — from remote Nigerian villages into Europe using Heathrow airport as a transit hub.

The girls were promised education or jobs such as hairdressing in such European countries as France, Belgium, and Spain but were forced into prostitution.

Others were raped under oaths even as their traffickers were said to have used witchcraft to terrify them that their parents would be killed, so they would not talk to police or attempt to escape.

A European arrest warrant was issued for her from the UK, when she was thought to be in Italy but she it was later discovered that she has relocated to Nigeria, where the NCA working with NAPTIP and the Nigerian Police traced her.

The UK-based NCA said: “Asemota’s arrest was the result of exceptional collaboration with our partners at home and in Nigeria” adding, “This operation demonstrates our global reach and our determination  to track those wanted in the UK, no matter where in the world they are.”

Asemota’s arrest may have been aided by the whistle blown by a Nigerian member of the trafficking ring, Odosa Usiobaifo, of Enfield, UK, who was jailed for 14 years by Isleworth crown court in 2013 for conspiring to traffic for sex exploitation.

In October 2014, David Osawaru, another Nigerian, was jailed for nine years for chaperoning two women in transit to Prague, Czech Republic. He had been arrested by Border Force officers at Heathrow.#

  • How to eat for better sex

Sexologists, cardiologists, and psychologists agree: how much (and what) you consume has a huge impact on your sexual health.

    Spinach and other Green Vegetables

Spinach is a potent source of magnesium, which helps dilate blood vessels, according to Japanese researchers. Better blood flow to the genitals, as you’ve learned, creates greater arousal for men and women. Spinach and other green vegetables like broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale, cabbage, Swiss chard, and bok choy are also good sources of favorite sex nutrient—folate. Extra insurance for good reproductive health, folate may lower blood levels of a harmful substance called homocysteine.

    Unsweetened Tea

The antioxidant catechin found in tea promotes blood flow all over the body for sex power and brainpower; it enhances memory, mood, and focus. One particularly potent catechin, a compound called ECGC prevalent in green tea, is thought to increase fat burn. A study in the Journal of Nutrition found that people, who consume the equivalent of three to five cups of green tea a day for 12 weeks, experience nearly a five per cent reduction in body weight. Drink freshly brewed green or black tea every day, hot or iced. Bottled teas don’t offer the same benefits. And keep the sugar out of it. Unsweetened tea is an excellent alternative to high-calorie, sugar-laden soft drinks and juices. One 12-ounce can of soda has about 10 teaspoons of sugar in it.

    Peaches and other fruits

If you are looking to add some deductions to your 1040 form, eat more grapefruits, oranges, and peaches. Men, who consume at least 200 milligrammes of Vitamin C a day improve their sperm counts and motility, according to research at the University of Texas Medical Branch.

    Eggs

Over easy, hard-boiled, or scrambled, eggs aren’t the most sensual food on the menu, but it’s hard to beat them for a fit and healthy body inside and out. Eggs are rich in vitamins B6 and B5, which help balance hormone levels and ease stress, and are important for a healthy libido.

    Seeds and Nuts

Pumpkin and sunflower seeds, almonds, peanuts, walnuts, and other nuts all contain the necessary monounsaturated fats with which your body creates cholesterol—and your sex hormones need that cholesterol to work properly.

    Beans and Extra Protein

Protein is so important to weight maintenance that you should eat it with every meal and snack. Proteins boost metabolism a little more during digestion than any other type of food. Plus protein increases metabolism by helping to build muscle and stall the muscle loss that naturally happens as we age. Muscle is more metabolically active than fat is, so the more lean muscle on your body the better at burning calories it will be.

    Fatty Fish

If, as doctors like to say, what’s good for your heart is good for your love life, oily coldwater fish like salmon, mackerel, sardines, and tuna should figure heavily into your weekly meal rotation. The omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA found in fish help to raise dopamine levels in the brain that trigger arousal, according to sexologist Yvonne K. Fulbright, PhD. Other health benefits: anti-inflammatory properties that fight blood clots and heart arrhythmias, better brain function, and protection against dementia.

    Oatmeal and Other Whole Grains

Eating oatmeal is one of the few natural ways to boost testosterone in the bloodstream. The male hormone plays a significant role in sex drive and orgasm strength in both men and women. Oats (as well as seeds, ginseng, nuts, dairy, and green vegetables) contain L-arginine, an amino acid that enhances the effect nitric oxide has on reducing blood vessel stiffness. L-arginine has been used to treat erectile dysfunction. Like Viagra, it helps relax muscles around blood vessels in the penis. When they dilate, blood flow increases so a man can maintain an erection. Oatmeal and other whole grains like whole-grain bread, brown rice, and barley also qualify as good-for-the-heart, better-for-the-gut foods.

    Oysters and Other Shellfish

In addition to their reputation as the ultimate aphrodisiac (thanks to their resemblance to female genitalia), raw oysters actually do have a connection to sexual function. Oysters hold more zinc than most any other food, and it is believed that this mineral may enhance libido by helping with testosterone production—higher levels of the hormone are linked to an increase in desire. Zinc is also crucial to healthy sperm production and blood circulation.

  • sex and headaches

    sex and headaches

When sex  hunger enters the mind and finds a seat, it occupies the whole seat. Production of   sex hormones for  males  begins as early as eight weeks of development when baby boy is still in the womb, and increases steadily with minimal fluctuations throughout life. For women, there are fluctuations as estrogen levels change with the arrival of puberty, feeding habits, life style, premenopause, others. Persistent thinking about sex in terms of needs for every biologically functional adult male and female may be associated with headache. This is particularly true with sexually active partners or married couples, where the regularity of sex has a SIGNIFICANT nerve calming effect.  For this reason and others bothering on security, married couples  in general, live longer than their unmarried counterparts. When sex is absent for no genuine reasons, or it has to be demanded,  tied to events, circumstances, demands, wants and conditions, headaches become  manifest.  This is one condition where in response to testosterone surge, a man  forces his legitimate wife  to have  sex and yet remains largely tense, unsettled and irritable. A beautiful wife can  create several shades of headache  in her husband  by way of sending mixed messages, using all sorts of body language to draw his eyes to her sexy body  while at the same time, telling him straight out, “that  tonight is not the night” ;she is not ready for sex. Men enduring such situations are also liable to die young , or die during sex either with the wife or with a lover outside .  For Nuns and other ultra adherents to faith, the response to sexual needs depends on extent of body and mind training ,but the fact remains that physiological demands can indeed be so overwhelming that God only knows what people do with their private lives when alone with no one else seeing them.

Such categories of people are not likely to report headache unless it is ascribed to an illness or disease condition

Some women in the premenopausal, menopausal and the immediate post menopausal period otherwise referred to as women in  the transitional menopausal period ,have a mixed blend of headaches; research has shown that they constitute the highest  population of sex starved women  for various reasons including, divorce, loss of husband to death, illness of husband with Physician-prescribed medications that have  severe effects on libido and erection, undisclosed illness or disease conditions involving this class of women. Fluctuating levels of estrogen in association with rising levels of leutenizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) may combine with inner tension to add color to the daily oxidant generating, inner tension that these people cope with, resulting in headaches.

Headache in different shades is more common and may be more severe  for women in the reproductive period of life(usually 15-49years). Frequently, people want to know if it is safe to have sex when a woman is menstruating.  Some husbands  have even  gone  ahead to complicate matters by beating wives who refuse sex during menses. Complaints of headaches and other general feeling of unwellnes   during  menses provide a concise definition of  an illness condition as opposed to  a disease condition. According to the international headaches society(IHS),headache when associated with menses may be separated into subclasses, depending on the duration of headache in relation to that of the period when  the woman experiences  menstrual blood flow.  The demarcation is however blurred as a result of individual differences(genetic polymorphism). Headaches may appear one or  two  days  before menses begin and then stop as soon as blood flow becomes steady . Headache  may however continue till the end of menses or persist beyond the period. It is now a matter of whether headache occurs in association with menstrual period in the absence of any  disease conditions usually known to cause headaches.

In general terms, the severity, frequency and duration of headache depends on the hormone profile as well as the fertility status of the menstruating woman. Women  belonging to the reproductive age and who do not experience menstruation (as primary or secondary amenorrhea), irregular menses ,  oligomenorhea, are likely to have additional  but related issues with ovulation. They are less likely to have headaches associated with menstrual cycles. For those women with regular, ovulating menstrual cycles, headache is expected as normal physiological phenomenon. Patients with fibroids who usually have  heavy bleeding (menorhagia) and some younger females with unexplained life threatening   menstrual bleeding (metropathia hemorhagica) may be associated with headache ,though likely to be submerged by the more sinister effects  of severe blood loss. Among other explanations, there is preferential organ perfusion during this period  that has been characterized as comparable to what happens in severe unregulated  physical exercise or preferably at the early stages of hemorrhagic shock, where as a result of blood loss, the human body tries to preserve blood for certain organs of the body including, the brain and kidneys  and if arrested, these organs are the last to recover.  Sex during menses is safe and perfectly  normal, depending  on the personal hygiene of the woman. The blood of menses is red in color, is not watery, contains natural antibiotics, does not form clots and has no  smell.

For  couples that are not using  medicines and other artificial methods  of family planning, sex during menses removes the fear of  getting pregnant because it happens to be the only period where the chances of getting pregnant amount to 0.00009%. Beyond that, it is not as if bleeding occurs every hour of any 24 hour period. The question however is what happens if a woman has headache during menses and uses that as an excuse to refuse sex.  In the absence of any other illness as described earlier and  as may be expressed as fever, yellow eyes, vomiting, or neck stiffness, this headache is very likely as a result  of  menstruation ,and can respond positively to sexual intercourse ONLY if the woman is emotionally ready for it. If  she  says she is not ready by words from her mouth or through  her body language , the matter should be quietly allowed to rest. If it is forced on her, it might signal the beginning of a cycle of actions and reactions; the consequences might not be  what is intended to maintain marital happiness .

Before pregnancy, women are more likely to have period pains(dysmenorhea).  During pregnancy most of the organs of  the anatomical structures in the body undergo changes resulting in remarkable increases in joint spaces, length and breath of ligaments, and organs .Therefore with one or two pregnancies, these changes together with the altered balance between the hormones of pregnancy plus the addition of a new  pregnancy hormone (relaxin), the condition of dysmenorhea may undergo improvement.

Dysmenorrheal  pain is usually confined to the pelvis or waist region, but may spread to involve other structures including the neck bones and thence headache .The treatment of period pains involves special drugs which are mostly acid producing as opposed to drugs commonly used for headaches. This will be clarified in the closing part of the article.

For sex between a husband and his wife, there is no doing it half way for women; no woman is ready to have her systems raised to high mountain tops, hung  upside down and then left there Scarcity of  information on human sexuality, inhibitions from religion and family traditions , communication, among others have made it difficult for many married women to achieve the  normal physiological rapture of orgasm . It is interesting to note that  orgasmic sex  as a result of the peculiar delicacy of the anatomical structures involved, will not only  ameliorate headache, al other factors considered normal, it is also more likely than aorgasmic  sexual intercourse to result in pregnancy(for couples wanting to have kids)

    Sex is capable of  bringing down headache  only under a number of conditions, but  there are issues here and  time and space will permit only very brief discussion;

Sex must be  consensual, unhurried, complete, and devoid of guilt either before, during or after

The story has been told of a happily married woman who while attending a conference got carried away and had a fling with a colleague who for years was actually a  close family friend. Back in  her matrimonial house, she developed an unusual type of headache that was diffuse, throbbing and associated with sleeplessness. As sleeplessness worsened,  so was loss of appetite ; the heart became involved. One thing led to another and with  gentle persuasion from  a man of God, she made a heartrending confession . That much is how sex related feeling of guilt and inappropriate sexual experience can cause headache and even death.

For married couples it must involve communication as to how each partner wants it and how frequent .

There should be no background disease condition such as typhoid, malaria, cerebrospinal meningitis or boil any where in the head .

Recently, it came from the social media that a very popular  Television couple(woman is a TV reality show personality, husband well known rap musician) was having sex  about fifteen(15) times a day ;the woman in this relationship is understood to be very sexually active .Whereas it is possible that the couple will fail a lie detector test if  one was arranged, it is also quite possible to achieve such  feats with the aid of potent performance enhancing drugs, nearly all of which are associated with dangerous side effects. A common  side effect of drugs which  stimulate or enhance sexual performance is headache and it may be the only symptom. Unfortunately, this symptom is usually ignored  even when it develops as the sexual act is going on ,when the man who is usually the victim of death  in most cases  should have stopped .The medical opinion is that couples having sex fifteen times in a day  are both likely to die young ,and in particular, the man may die of sex related heart attack or will very soon develop a process of aging that will ruin his libido or his capacity to perform any physical activity of life  at the lowest level. Not surprising that the family Physician in the case of the popular reality TV sow couple has dutifully warned the woman in this situation to cut down on sex. To clarify issues , let it be known that no consensus exists. There are individual differences in the brain centers involved in the anatomical mechanisms of headaches  and tolerance, perception differ between individuals. The take away message is that for healthy  individuals, sex under the conditions earlier described can stop headaches.  However, when headache develops  in a man  or woman undergoing treatment for Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus, Brain tumor, Thyroid problems, Chest, Heart and  Kidney problems, major orthopedic problems such as fracture of bones,  spine or vertebral column,  prostate or breast cancer, Sex must as a matter of choice between pleasure and death take the back seat. It may take  from weeks to months before sex under these conditions can be considered safe and so perfect  understanding between couples is required There should be no restrictions.

    To be concluded next week

  • ‘I always have bad dream after sex with my husband’

The day my mother-in-law took our first child out to relieve me of the stress of our new baby, that was the day our daughter became deaf. When we visited several churches, they asked after my husband and his mother. If I really knew my husband, I wouldn’t have accepted his marriage proposal. “

These were the words of a middle-age trader, Shola Abdullah, as she sought the dissolution of her eight-year-old marriage to Lanre, at the Alagbado Customary Court in Lagos.

She alleged that her husband was fond of beating her.

Mrs Abdullah said: “My husband and I are strangers in our home. We have never had a cheerful moment. Whenever I talk, he would rain curses on me. He accuses me of adultery. I don’t know his plans for me because I am treated as a slave. His attitude is weird. Whenever he sleeps with me, I always see myself vomiting a gecko in my dream. Strangely, I always wake up with a swollen stomach. He once took me home during a church service only to sleep with me and later dropped me off at the church. It’s been a month since I left home. Am not missing anything because we don’t relate well.”

The marriage, which was contracted under Native and Customary Law, is blessed with three children.

But her husband is insisting on the marriage. Abdullah told the court: “My mother didn’t do anything to our first child. We were told our first child had measles which made her deaf. I have had to buy a hearing aid worth thousands of Naira. My wife has never supported me. I opened two shops for her but she couldn’t maintain it. Whenever there is an argument, she leaves the house leaving me with our children. I have never sent her away. I want her back. I have never accused her of adultery.

“The court’s President, Mr. Olubode Sekoni, ordered Abdullah to write an undertaken never to maltreat his wife again.

He adjourned the case till January 22.

Love, relationship and sex, in the order of important hot topics in the minds of young people rank next to career and money. Youths feel highly misunderstood by parents, teachers, churches and society. Youths have little or no experience about life; no past and no tradition and therefore feel as free agents. They are risk takers and adventurous and like to explore and experiment.

Bola Dada have dedicated a great portion of this book to the topic of sex the way most authors have not. Sex is the topic most churches do not like to highlight. Parents hope that their wards will not get into it early and the fear is that they may get into trouble.

Since these issues; Love, relationship and sex are front burners of the existence of man particularly the younger generation, they dominate man’s thoughts and faculty and also represent the key topics of discussion among friends, in the media, social media and books. These issues also play a major role in many decisions and interactions with the opposite sex.

Bola Dada, in this book, ‘Love, Relationship and Sex’ tries to explain these issues from the perspective of being a christian. In his view, pains, agonies, heart breaks, disappointments, betrayals, frustrations and losses can all be avoided if choices concerning love, relationship and sex are made under the influence of GOD.

The book contains eight chapters. Chapter one is titled, ‘Let’s talk about Love’; chapter two talks about ‘Chastity’; chapter three is titled ‘The Sex Drive’; chapter four is titled ‘The trials, the temptation and the test’; chapter five talks on ‘Appearance’; chapter six is titled ‘Who are your friends?’; chapter seven is titled ‘Building a successful future’ and the last chapter is titled ‘Where are the sons and daughters’.

The first chapter talks about love which is the greatest desire of man; to be cared for. In history, the greatest songs of all time are songs about love. William Shakespeare attained a high ground as a playwright and poet with his plays and poems on love. Romantic novels are usually best sellers and even when thrillers are about crime and adventure, the authors more often create romantic dimensions.

Most of the movies produced all over the world are on love and when they are not, romance is still included in the plot. In musical videos, makers of music maximise sales with the creation of a form of romance with sexual appeal through dance steps and in the appearance of characters in the videos. Regardless of what is adertised; soft drinks, tissue paper, toothpaste and so on, television commercials also displays a form of love, romance and affection. So, if love is seen in all these and shown everywhere, when young persons come into the world, they like everyone else have to satisfy their love desires because it does not take much to learn from the environment.

Therefore, the book postulates that what the world preaches in the movies, books, soap operas and songs as love is not love at all. The world teaches lust, infactuation and obsession.

Chapter two talks on chastity. The book explains that chastity is the quality of practising sexual purity. Sexual feelings are part of what makes us human. That is why married couples can have romantic feelings. Sex, invigorates a marriage and adds zest to life and it enables a husband and wife to be truly one. So, there should be a proper outlet to build the sexual feelings and the only outlet that God recognises is marriage.

Young individuals play around with sex in the community with reasons which the book refers to as ‘Common lies of the devil’ which are: Everyone is doing it so we should not be different.Nothing is wrong with it, boys saying that they will get married as soon as possible and many girls are falling for the line ‘I cannot help myself’, ‘If you loved me, you would let me’, ‘Just this once’ and ‘If you do not let me, I will do it with someone else’.

The author, gave reasons on why young individuals should avoid pre-marital sex. He said one may never know real love with such act, sex before marriage may affect sexual relations with one’s spouse, there is loss of dignity and self-esteem, it leaves an individual with a life-long guilt, there is loss of God’s presence, there is exposure to devil’s attacks, there is a danger of contacting sexually transmitted diseases, possibility of marrying just anybody and danger to hell fire.

Purity on the other hand is beautiful. It means that a person has character, self respect and courage. The book encourages that individuals should always turn to God in prayer.

Chapter three is on sex drive; a powerful force in the body of males and females which creates appetite for sex. According to the book, young individuals should not allow movies, soap operas, and commercials on television to shape their minds. It is important to understand sex drive and learn to control it before marriage. This is possible because God would not ask of it if it was not possible.

All young people are bound to go through difficult times and face trials(betrayals and disappointments) in life. Chapter four of the book talks on ‘the trials, the temptation and the tests’. Trials can manifest in form of lack which makes concentration on important things impossible. Whatever an individual goes through in life, is nothing compared to a bright future by God.

In Chapter five, titled ‘Appearance’, it reflects the different ways of dressing around the world that centers on multiple cultures, values and religious beliefs. Like Moses, a way of dressing may be used to identify a civilsation one belongs to and may even reveal one’s religious inclination. Dressings which reflects people’s cultural background and scriptural admonition have been done away with. Dressing seems to have gone haywire everywhere.

In the nation’s higher institutions, most female students now dress so provocatively and this is also seen in the ‘well modernised’ Pentecostal churches. When you wear clothes that are revealing, you send wrong messages to people. The boys are not left out. The waist of their trousers are lowered and fastened tightly at the middle of the two bottom lobes to reveal their inner wears. This is know as ‘sagging’. In the aspect of bearing tattoos, the examines that throughout history, the tattoo bears the mark of paganism, demonism, baal worship, shamanism, mysticism and every other pagan beliefs known. He attributes bad dressing to poor parenting and wrong influence of the society to individuals.

Indecent dressing is not good for a christian. It encourages rape and sexual harassment.A fine boy and girl does not need to go semi-nude or sag.

Chapter six assists young individuals in defining friendship. A good friendship is progressive, there are quality discussions, good behaviour and advice, love and concern and understanding.

In ‘building a successful future’ in chapter seven, the author advises as one journeys through life, one should be moving in the direction of set goals and ambition. Achieving goals will not be an easy task. An individual will go through a lot of obstacles and distractions and one could only get to the desired destination through focus, good strategies, determination, discipline and diligence.

The last chapter titled: ‘Where are the sons and daughters?’  talks on Abraham’s faith in God which is legendary and it remains a model for children of God today in putting unalloyed confidence in God. In the story of creation, God created man to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. But satan ensured he scuttled the fellowship between God and man. The satan knows that God hates sin and being the great deceiver and liar, he deceives Eve and man into sin.

One lesson to learn is that satan can go to any length just to destroy one life. If he has to kill everyone in a commercial bus, derail a train filled with passengers or sink a ‘Titanic’ just to get one soul, he will not think twice. The good news is despite the onslaught of the devil against the church, the church will continue to march on and the gate of hell can never prevail against the church. Which side are you on? The author asks readers in this last chapter.

A new earth created by God is a place of continual fellowship with Him. No more sickness, diseases, poverty, anxiety and darkness. Death will be thrown into the lake of fire and therefore, there will be no more death.
