    100 days: ‘Nation on path of progress with Tinubu’

    Member representing Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency of Edo State, Henry Okojie, has said President Bola Tinubu’s policies and programmes are advancing the nation’s growth and development.

       Congratulating the President on attaining  100 days in office, he said Nigeria is on a steady path with Tinubu.

        Also applauding Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), Okoje added the country is on a promising path toward development and prosperity.

       The lawmaker commended the judiciary for “a painstaking and brilliant judgment” reflecting the will of the people, who voted for All Progressives Congress (APC) in February.

    Okojie hailed Adams Oshiomhole, senator representing Edo North  and Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, House leader and member representing Owan Federal Constituency, on their victory in the Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja and Edo State.

     He expressed satisfaction on the victory of Oshiomhole and Ihonvbere, which was ‘’well deserved’’.

    The lawmaker emphasised the unity, commitment, patriotism, and dedication of Oshiomhole and Ihonvbere in the development of their district and constituency.

    He said the judgments affirm the people’s appreciation of their efforts.

    President Bola Tinubu has condoled with his Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, on the death of his mother, Mrs. Ifejola Dada.

    Tinubu’s message was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, yesterday in Abuja.

     The President joined friends and well-wishers of Dada family in mourning their beloved wife and mother, an educator who devoted her years to providing quality and affordable education to society.

     He noted as President of Association for Formidable Educational Development in Nigeria, Mrs. Dada’s contributions to quality education will always be remembered.

     Tinubu urged Olusegun, his siblings and family to find solace in her legacies of hard work, patience, forbearance, charity, and selflessness.

     The President urged them to to honour mama’s deep impact on education by doing good to others

     He prayed for the repose of her soul and divine comfort for the family she left behind.

    Tinubu has sent his condolences to family, followers, and associates of Islamic preacher, Sheikh Abubakar Argungu, who died on Wednesday.

     In a statement, he described his death as a loss, which reverberated beyond the Islamic scholar’s community.

     “The voice of Sheikh Giro Argungu will be remembered for his years of Islamic propagation and advocacy. His activities, through Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah  (JIBWIS or Izala Society),  has contributed in guiding Muslim youths ,” it said.

     The President condoled with the family, Kebbi State, and the Muslim community, praying for his eternal rest.

     Former President Muhammadu Buhari also condoled with family, friends, and Muslims on Argungu’s death, describing it as a major loss to the Muslim world.

     In a statement by media aide, Garba Shehu, he said: “Sheikh Giro was a towering figure. He stood for Islamic values and showed his commitment to society through utterances and actions.

     “May Allah repose his soul and grant him Jannatul-Firdaus.”

    Oyebanji, Afenifere congratulate Tinubu on Tribunal victory

    Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his victory at the Presidential Election Petition Court which upheld his February 25 election.

    Oyebanji, in a statement by his special adviser on media, Yinka Oyebode, described the judgement as “solid and detailed” and “a judicial sustenance of the mandate given to the clear winner of the presidential poll.”

    The governor also hailed the judiciary for upholding the truth, stressing that the judicial affirmation of President Tinubu’s election has confirmed the choice of the majority of Nigerians who elected the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flag bearer as President of the country.

    He said the Tribunal verdict has laid every doubt on the validity and authenticity of the presidential result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rest and served as proof that democracy and the rule of law are becoming firmly rooted in Nigeria.

    He noted that the latest judicial seal on Tinubu’s legitimacy would make Nigeria command more respect in the comity of nations as a beacon of hope for democracy in Africa and a model to other countries of the world.

    Oyebanji said: “I congratulate our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and indeed all Nigerians for this judgement. It is not a victory for the APC alone it is a victory for democracy, the rule of law and the Nigerian masses. It is also a vote of confidence in the process that led to the election of Mr President.

    “The judgement is solid and well-detailed. There is nothing to add. I congratulate Nigerians and the President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

    The Ekiti state chapter of the Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) described the judgement as a well-deserved victory, saying the verdict further validated the fact that he emerged through popular votes.

    A statement by ARG publicity secretary, Michael Ogungbemi, appealed to all Nigerians to coalesce efforts with Tinubu to take Nigeria to the Promised Land.

    The ARG called on the petitioners to rally around the current government in the task of evolving a nation that is progressive and prosperous, rather than toeing the path of division or stoking the ember of disunity.

    It said: “This ruling is not only a victory for Mr President and the party but also for the entire nation as it strengthens our trust in the judiciary and serves as a catalyst for a thriving democracy.

    “We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who played a role in ensuring a fair and impartial appeal process. Mr. President’s commitment to upholding the values of justice and democracy is inspiring and sets a remarkable precedent for future electoral cases.”

    The immediate past minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT). 

    In a statement by the Dare Media Office (DMO), the former Minister said the Judiciary has renewed the confidence of the people in the Tinubu’s presidency. 

    Dare said the ruling, which was painstakingly delivered by the appeal court panel, is unprecedented in the anals of the history of the political and legal class in Nigeria.

    According to him: “This Victory is well deserved. Indeed foretold. Many people worked very hard to ensure  the APC won the election and even when a fraction of the people doubted the authenticity of the results, we were undeterred that the victory was solid “.

    Dare said he is elated that the will of over eight million Nigerians who voted in Tinubu as President has finally been solidified with the outcome of the tribunal judgement which will serve as a locus classicus for future election litigations in the country.

Nigeria is already on an ascent towards economic recovery and growth owing to President Tinubu’s economic reforms policies. Nigeria is in the best hands and we are thankful for the unbiased judgment,” he added. 

    He urged President Tinubu whom he described as a team player to quickly put behind the social media drama of the petitioners  behind him and remain steadfast in his effort to place a Nigeria firmly on the path to recovery.

    Tribunal’s verdict affirms trust reposed in Tinubu’s presidency, says group

    A political support group in the 2023 Presidential Elections, Bola Campaign Organization (BCO), has lauded the judiciary for validating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s victory and the APC in the February 25 presidential election.

    BCO said the judiciary has identified itself as a true defender of democracy in the country, by ruling in Tinubu’s favour, as the winner of the election.

    A statement signed by BCO’s National Patron, Alhaji Abdulwahab Quardi (FCIB), National Coordinator, QS Mohammed Makinta (FNIQS), and National Women’s Leader, Alhaja Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, maintained that the tribunal’s verdict was an affirmation of the trust reposed in the President by Nigerians, described the judgment as detailed, articulated, comprehensive.

    BCO said with this verdict, the judiciary has painstakingly resolved all contentious issues and grounds raised by the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, in the APC and President’s favour on the fact that Tinubu was not clinching onto any stolen mandate.

    The group, however, called on members of the opposition, particularly, Obi and Atiku, to join hands with President Tinubu to take Nigeria to enviable heights in terms of economic prosperity, Infrastructural development and human capital development.

    It said: “We commend the judiciary for this victory for demonstrating uncommon will expected to validate the mandate freely given by the Nigerian citizens to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the February 25 Presidential Election

    “We are elated that the judiciary has demonstrated bravery that the APC and its candidate were the actual winners of the election through its detailed, well-articulated, and comprehensive verdicts”.

    “This verdict was an affirmation of the trust reposed in the President by Nigerians and would serve as a morale booster for the President and his team.

    “We congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima, on their deserved and resounding victory at the Election Petition Tribunal”.

    “We therefore called on the members of the opposition, particularly, Mr. Peter Obi (LP) and his PDP counterpart, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to join hands with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take Nigeria to enviable heights in terms of economic prosperity and human capital development.”

    The minister of women affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has urged market women in Anambra state to form corporative in order to benefit from upcoming projects.

    She said she would do her best to link the international communities to the state to ensure the actualization of President Bola Tinubu’s mandate.

    Addressing women during her visit to the state, Kennedy-Ohanenye said she was working with non-governmental organisations to ensure women were economically empowered.

    She said: “Tinubu-led administration is out to protect and empower every woman in Nigeria. My expectation is to see women love themselves and not be their own problems.

    “I want you to take advantage of having an Igbo minister, including forming corporations in clusters of at least 20 members in order to partake in projects.

    “I will do my best in linking International Communities to Anambra state in order to see that the mandate of Mr President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is actualized.

    The minister, in the company of the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare in the State, Ify Obinabo, had earlier visited some markets before arriving at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Center Awka, where she addressed the women.

    Present at the event were State Head of Service, Theodora Igwegbe, member representing Anaocha Constituency One in the State House of Assembly, Nkechi Ogbuefi, APGA State Woman Leader, Mrs Esther Onyekesi, ASATU women, among other personalities.

    Baba Aladura Bob-Manuel tasks Tinubu on insecurity, economy, others

    Supreme Head and Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Mount Zion National Headquarters, His Most Eminence, Baba Aladura (Dr.) David Bob-Manuel has urged President Bola Tinubu to empower security architectures and agencies to tackle the rising insecurity in Nigeria.

    Baba Aladura gave the charge at a briefing to herald activities marking his 6th induction anniversary as the Prelate of ESCOS Church worldwide and enthronement as Moses Orimolade IX in Lagos.

    The revered Christian leader said insecurity in the country can be categorised into criminality, ethnic and religious conflicts, noting that all three can be addressed if the teeming youths are adequately engaged in gainful employment.

    “Once a larger percentage of the youths are gainfully employed and moved out of the poverty bracket, it will drastically reduce bandits’ cells and vulnerable citizens. Also, security must be kept out of politics and modern technologies deployed to fight criminals,” he stressed.

    Bob-Manuel also advised the Tinubu administration to build strong military and paramilitary institutions and increase funding to the police. 

    He also implored the Federal Government to urgently implement social safety net programme to protect the vulnerable population from the impact of higher fuel prices following the removal of subsidy on petroleum products.

    “The government should also create public awareness programs in educating the citizens on the reasons behind subsidy removal and the long-term benefits for a more efficient and transparent energy market,” he stated.

    On unemployment, Baba Aladura Bob-Manuel advised the Federal Government to review and reform labour market regulations to make it easier for businesses to thrive and provide job security for workers.

    “Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises through access to finance, training and infrastructure stimulates job creation and entrepreneurship to enhance productivity and reduce criminality to the barest minimum,” he added.

    While thanking God for allowing him to celebrate his 6th induction ceremony, Dr. Bob-Manuel said in the last six years, the Church has witnessed an upsurge in the development of cathedrals and physical structures, noting the drive for evangelism and winning souls for Christ which he said is the primary goal of the Church.

    Senior Apostle General and Secretary to the ESOCS Church worldwide, His Eminence, Elder Dr. Napo Emuchay, said the church has witnessed giant strides in several respects across all provinces worldwide since the Baba Aladura was enthroned in 2017.

    He said several programmes have been lined up to celebrate the induction, including several empowerment programmes, dinner party, spiritual upliftment and grand thanksgiving service at the Mount Zion National Headquarters Cathedral on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

    The managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Samuel Ogbuku, has vowed to work hard with the support of members of staff to meet the expectations of President Bola Tinubu.

    Speaking during an interactive session with the employees of NDDC at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, Ogbuku commended President Tinubu for reposing confidence in him by reappointing him as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NDDC.

    He stated: “The president has high expectations of us, especially to change the narrative of the NDDC and the Niger Delta region. I assure him that we will not fail. This reappointment gives me a renewed vigour to revamp the NDDC and develop the Niger Delta region.

    “I might have the ideas but I also need the input of directors and staff and to bring these ideas to fruition. We would work together to make Mr. President proud.”

    The NDDC boss in a statement signed by the commission’s Director, Corporate Affairs, Pius Ughakpoteni, said that he was ready to take on new challenges.

    He said:  “We need to record more successes in this new dispensation. I believe that by working together, we can get better results.

    Ogbuku paid tribute to members of the dissolved NDDC board for “sacrificing their time and resources for the good of the Niger Delta region.”

    He expressed hope that members of the reconstituted board would be committed to serving the people of the region, appealing to NDDC staff to warmly receive the incoming board and ensure that there were no hiccups.

    He added: “I acknowledge and thank the recently retired Directors for their commitment and sacrifices to ensure that our ideas for development come to fruition. To the staff, I want to assure you that I remain indebted to you as you mean well to me. Thank you for reaching out to me at all times.”

    Ogbuku stressed the need for the various directorates in NDDC to work as a team saying:  “I do not want directorates to work in isolation or at cross purposes anymore.  Let us try and synchronize our programmes.”

    Reacting to a question on what he would like to be remembered for, he said: “I want to be remembered as a good brother, father and husband in the NDDC family. Transparency and accountability are very important to me.”

    Speaking on behalf of the staff, the chairman of the NDDC staff union, Comrade Anthony Gbendo, applauded the managing director for facilitating the approval of the staff conditions of service and urged him not to relent in his good works.

    The chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Solomon Adeola (APC-Ogun West), has congratulated President Bola Tinubu for his outstanding victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

    Adeola, in a statement by his media adviser, Kayode Odunaro, in Abuja, urged the candidates of the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, respectively, and other opposition parties to join hands with Tinubu to develop the country.

    He insisted that the victory of President Tinubu signaled a Renewed Hope for the consolidation of the nation’s democracy.

    He said the verdict demonstrated that the wishes of the people in exercising their constitutional rights of voting were not undermined in the judiciary through the subterfuge of some power mongers for selfish personal ambitions.

    Adeola said: “I am elated that our judiciary has once again restored the hope of patriotic democrats in the sanctity of the ballot box in determining who rules the people.

    “The learned justices of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal were thorough and prodigious in all their decision in addressing all issues in contention.

    “I salute their courage and eruditeness in delivering what amounts to historical antecedents in our nation’s jurisprudence and democratic development.”

    Senator Adeola, who had also gone through electoral petitions at various levels in all his five previous electoral victories to validate the people’s mandate, called on politicians to respect the wishes of the people as expressed through the ballot box instead of heating up the polity with what amounts in most cases to frivolous petition in vain attempts to scuttle democratic wishes of the people.

    He added that in any democratic contest, there must be winners and losers.

    He said: “At this point in our nation’s history, I want to call on all politicians and other Nigerians in various sectors to join hands with the President in the task of nation-building. There is much to be done for the nation and our people to restore their hope.

    “Opposition parties should join hands with the President in finding solutions to the myriads of problems facing the nation.”

    Tinubu mourns Sheikh Argungu’s death

    President Bola Tinubu has sent his condolences and sympathy to the family, followers, and associates of prominent Islamic preacher, Sheikh Abubakar Giro Argungu, who died on Wednesday, September 6.

    President Tinubu’s condolence message to Sheikh Argungu’s loved ones was contained in a statement issued by his special adviser on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Thursday, September 7.

    He described the death of the religious leader as a loss, that reverberates beyond the late preacher’s immediate community, and as one that affects the entire country, in view of his contributions to the canon of Islamic study and his renowned calls for moral rectitude.

    Tinubu said: “The voice of Sheikh Giro Argungu will long be remembered for his years of Islamic propagation and advocacy for righteousness. The activities of the cleric through the Islamic group, JIBWIS, where he had served as the Working Committee Chairman, has contributed immensely in guiding a large flock of Muslim youths over the years.”

    The president said Sheikh Giro will be greatly missed for his fearless advocacy for the downtrodden and for holding leaders accountable for meeting their obligations to citizens.

    The president further condoles with the family, the government and people of Kebbi State, and the Nigerian Muslim community, over this huge loss and prays for the eternal rest of the soul of the departed cleric.
