    Toke Makinwa keeps TheBuzz going

    After a one-year hiatus, Toke Makinwa is back at the helm of ‘The Buzz,’ and she’s making it clear that her absence was merely a pause, not a departure.

    The magnetic host, who has been with the show since its inception, is excited to dive back into the wild world of Big Brother Naija.

    Speaking on her return, Toke confidently stated, “I never left. The Buzz just didn’t happen last year. So as the show came back, so did I.”

    ‘The Buzz’ has always been known for its deep dives into the drama, excitement, and controversies of Big Brother Naija.

    Toke described the show as a nerve-wracking, crazy ride, where the unpredictable nature of the housemates and the passionate reactions of fans keep her on her toes.

    “There’s always constant back and forth with me and the fans of Big Brother Naija. There’s always people who are agitated and who feel strongly about their housemates,” she noted.

    The new season of Big Brother Naija comes with an intriguing twist with housemates competing in pairs. Toke is enthusiastic about this development, describing it as wild and full of surprises. “Big Brother is always doing new things with every season. He’s unpredictable,” she said. “There are people who one of the pairs is carrying the entire team, and if one person gets evicted, the team is leaving with the person. So it’s a bit crazy.”

    She touched on the recent NdiNne eviction, a moment that caught the attention of many fans.

    “I kind of saw it coming, but I was hoping that they would take some time before they put them up for eviction,” she remarked.

    Despite the demands of her busy schedule, which includes hosting The Buzz, shooting movies, and keeping up with all the happenings in the Big Brother house, Toke’s passion for her work remains undiminished. “It’s a lot, but then, you know, I feel like it’s one of my passions. It’s my biggest passion,” she shared.

    Toke Makinwa condemns vandalism, looting during protests

    Media personality Toke Makinwa has spoken out against the destruction of properties and looting during the ongoing nationwide protests in Nigeria.

    She expressed disapproval on social media, stating that it’s unfair to target fellow Nigerians who are also suffering economic hardship.

    “Destroying properties and stealing from your fellow Nigerians who are passing through the same hardship is not right at all. This is very sad,” she wrote.

    Makinwa clarified that her criticism was not directed at the protesters but those taking advantage of the situation to commit crimes.

    She wrote: “I did not say the stealing and vandalism was done by protesters, the people who have their things stolen are Nigerians too, going through the same hardship. What have they done to deserve this?”

    She emphasised that the victims of looting and vandalism are also Nigerians facing the same challenges, and do not deserve to be targeted.

    She wrote: “Not just in marriage alone, In Friendships, Work relationships, or any kind of association, Begging for your value to be seen or appreciated will never work.

    Media personality, Toke Makinwa, has declared that she will not adjust her lifestyle despite the high cost of living in the country. 

    In a viral video, Makinwa confidently stated that she and her loved ones will never settle for less, referencing their resilience and strong heritage.

    Despite the hardship being faced by Nigerians, the actress said she remains unbothered, boasting that she will maintain her high standards.

    Showmax has announced the return of Toke Makinwa for another edition of The Buzz as season nine of Big Brother Naija 9 beckons.

    Showmax said the BBNaija talk show would premiere on August 1, with new episodes every Thursday on the streaming platform only.

    On The Buzz, Toke, alongside celebrity guests and top BBNaija show commentators, will dissect all the moments in this season of the reality show, giving their candid opinions and predictions in a no-holds-barred talk session. The show will also feature never-before-seen footage from the House and other engaging segments.

    Makinwa shared her excitement on returning as host for a new season, saying, “Get ready for a rollercoaster ride of juicy gossip, sizzling drama, and unfiltered fun!     Media personality Toke Makinwa has responded to a troll who mocked her for being unmarried.

    The troll, Nelson Oluu, made a snide comment about Toke transitioning from the “single era” to the “unmarried era.”

    Toke replied, expressing her faith that God will bless her and assured the troll that he will be alive to witness and congratulate her.

    Media personality Toke Makinwa has expressed apprehensions about reaching a significant milestone in her life which is turning 40.

    In a recent episode of her show, Toke Moments, she revealed her nervousness and a shared conversation with D’Banj, who advised her against celebrating her 40th birthday, citing industry pressures and the potential risk of being “retired” due to her age.

    She said: “I’m turning a very big age this year and I’m so nervous. I am so nervous. At first, I started the year by saying I didn’t want to do anything. D’Banj, I’m going to call him out. D’Banj called me and said “Don’t do birthday o! You know this industry. Did I do my birthday? Did Don Jazzy celebrate his birthday? Who shouted when they were 40? Don’t do any birthday o! They will retire you.” I was like “Dapo, what do you mean?”

    “When I fill forms these days, you know when we were so excited to fill between 18 and 25, we tick fast. Between like 25 and 35, you tick. After 35, it’s like is this answer required? “

    However, her show guest, IK Osakioduwa, offered words of encouragement and reassurance.

    As someone who has already crossed the 40-year mark, IK shared his experiences and insights, highlighting the importance of transitioning and evolving in one’s career.

    He emphasised that age is not a limitation and that Toke should focus on the impact she’s made and the lives she’s touched, rather than her age.

    “Thou shall not be nervous. I am 45, I just turned 45. And I’m still doing this thing. They can’t retire you. I won’t lie to you, there is that stage you get to where you feel like if I tell them my age, won’t people feel I’m too old for this?

    “But I’ve started to transition to a space where I’m just no longer a presenter, but a platform for presenters because I want to be able to create other means. 

    “I want to be able to sit down and look and count not how many awards or trophies I have on shelves, but I want to be able to look at the lives of people I’ve changed because our paths crossed,” he said.

    Media personality Toke Makinwa has spoken out against the practice of giving tribal marks to children without their consent, calling it “evil”.

    She shared her thoughts on her X handle, recounting a recent encounter with a beautiful influencer who had tribal marks.

    Toke expressed gratitude that the practice has been abolished, acknowledging that her grandmother also had tribal marks.

    She wondered what life was like for her grandmother and others who had to live with the marks, but is thankful that the practice is no longer continued. 

    “Today I saw a beautiful influencer with tribal marks and it made me think about the cruelty that culture brought upon us. Marking a child without his/her consent as a means of identification is Evil, I know our parents didn’t know any better, but damnnnn!!!!

    “Thank God it’s abolished now. My grandma had tribal marks too. Some on her face and her arms, I wonder what life was like when she was younger walking around with it, though I’m sure a lot of people around her had same but thank God it’s canceled now,” she wrote

    Toke Makinwa set to launch Christian fellowship

    Media personality Toke Makinwa has announced plans to start a Christian fellowship.

    According to Toke, she had a deal with God to surrender and allow Him to do with her as He pleases. 

    The businesswoman stated how hungry she is for the things of God and willing to serve Him with like-minded individuals. 

    On her Instagram story, Makinwa wrote: “God, we had a deal; I am to surrender to you; let go of the wheel; and you do what you know how to do best. Why didn’t I do this earlier? Thank you, Heavenly Father, for keeping your word.

    “I want to start a fellowship group with believers, those who love God. I want to experience God with like-minded people. How do I start? Will you attend? Monthly? Weekly? Help?”

    She is taking after Nollywood star Edochie launched his online ministry, True Salvation Ministry in January.
