    Moses returns after Xmas

    Stoke City winger, Victor Moses, could return to action after Christmas, Stoke City manager, Mark Hughes, has disclosed.

    Stoke City will host West Bromwich Albion on December 28 and Moses could well play a role in that game, africanFootball.com reports.

    Moses injured his thigh in the home defeat by Burnley in November and has been receiving treatment with parent club Chelsea.

    Hughes, who spoke to Moses at Selhurst Park where Stoke drew with Crystal Palace, told reporters that he was optimistic that the Nigeria international will be back soon.

    He said: “The (medical) lads had a quick look at him and were happy with how he is. Hopefully, we will get him back the New Year. Or, if not, soon after.”

    Moses joined Stoke on a season-long loan in the summer, and has scored one goal and provided four assists in the Premier League so far.

    He has played for Crystal palace, Wigan Athletic and was on loan at Liverpool last season from Chelsea.

    He has 22 caps and seven goals for Nigeria.

    Stoke City boss, Mark Hughes was delighted to see winger Victor Moses score his first league goal in the side’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United, sl10.ng reports.

    The Super Eagles winger opened the scoring midway through the first half and silenced the West Ham fans, who had been taunting him about his alleged diving.

    And the Potters boss was pleased with the man on loan from Chelsea.

    “Good for him that he’s scored his first goal for us in the Premier League.

    “I can’t criticise the guys too readily because overall it was a good performance.

    “But I am scratching my head why we didn’t get the three points,” sl10.ng quoted Hughes as saying on the match.

    Arsenal left Burnlea penalty in the 2-1 win over Swansea City, bundled home a scrappy goal in the ‎33rd minute to give Stoke a half time lead.

    The Nigerian profited from a defensive mix up to scramble home a Bojan Krkic’s weak effort.

    Injured Super Eagles’ winger, Victor Moses, will be out of action for at least three weeks, africanFootball.com reports.

    Moses was recalled for this month’s African Nations Cup qualifiers against Sudan qualifiers, after he missed the last two matches against Congo and South Africa.

    But the winger will not again be available for the African champions after suffering a recurrence of a thigh injury in Saturday’s English Premier League match against Sunderland.

    Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, who broke the news to africanFootball.com, said the on loan Chelsea winger has been contacted by Eagles’ officials.

    “I tried to reach him on phone, but he did not pick up. The team secretary reached him and he may now be out for three weeks or so,” Keshi told africanFootball.com.

    Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, has expressed worry over the recent injury picked up by Stoke City winger, Victor Moses.

    Moses was injured in Stoke’s 1-3 defeat to Sunderland in the Barclays English Premier League on Saturday, supersport.com reports.

    He provided the assist for Stoke’s solitary goal at the Stadium of Light, before he was forced off by the injury.

    He is now a huge doubt for Nigeria’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Sudan.

    Keshi in a chat with supersport.com expressed concern about the injury and expressed hope that it is not as serious as many people thought.

    “I was naturally worried to see him (Moses) get injured (on Saturday). He’s been in good form and I just hope that the injury is not that serious because we need him for those important games against Sudan,” he told supersport.com.

    There are strong indications that Super Eagles forward Victor Moses will watch the Sudan versus Nigeria African Nations Cup (AFCON) qualifiers from the sidelines.

    The 23-year-old limped off just 18 minutes into Saturday’s English Premier League clash against Sunderland and could miss the all-important Super Eagles tie against Sudan on October 10.

    The former Wigan ace is in coach Stephen Keshi’s 24-man team list for the trip to Khartoum, but if the club’s doctors diagnose his injury as being serious, Keshi may have no choice but to keep Moses on the bench. The Super Eagles’ camp opens on Monday in Abuja and the country’s foreign-based players are expected to arrive later in the week.

    Moses made way for Moroccan import Oussama Assaidi in the tie that saw Stoke lose 3-1. Despite his brief time on the pitch however, Moses made impressive contributions, providing the assist for teammate Charlie Adam to score a consolation goal for Stoke in the 15th minute. Connor Wickham opened scoring in the 4th minute of the encounter with Steven Fletcher increasing the tally in the 23rd and 79th minute respectively.

    Super  Eagles  forward, Victor Moses has been named in the BBC Sports’ English Premier League team of the week after a starring role in Stoke City’s 2-2 draw with QPR on Saturday.

    The Nigerian international, on loan from Chelsea, was instrumental in both goals – finding Peter Crouch, who headed on to Mame Biram Diouf, for the first before the pair combined again in the second half.

    The performance the 23-year-old which was described excellent by Stoke boss, Mark Hughes has now earned him a place among the strikers in the BBC Football analyst, Garth Crook’s 4-3-3 formation.

    According to Garth Crook, Moses is beginning to show the glimpse of his performance while at Wigan Athletic.

    “Stoke forward Victor Moses registered his first Premier League assist since January 2012. I’ve been a fan of Victor Moses since his days at Crystal Palace. That said, I don’t think he fulfilled his true potential at Chelsea or Liverpool, although he would have benefited from the experiences.

    “Against QPR, however, the Stoke winger looked like the performer he was during his time at Wigan.”

    Other forwards include Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck, who scored and assisted a goal for the first time against Aston Villa and Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy who tore Manchester United to shreds with his pace and scored the goal that gave his side the lead.

    The midfield position is occupied by Mesut Ozil (Arsenal), Niko Kranjcar (QPR) and Stewart Downing (West Ham). In defense are Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Winston Reid (West Ham) and Wes Morgan (Leicester), while Wojciech Szczesny (Arsenal) is the team’s goalkeeper.

    Super Eagles flying winger Victor Moses made a successful debut for Stoke City in the Capital One Cup as they spanked Portsmouth courtesy a brace from Jon Walters and a goal from Peter Crouch.

    Peter Crouch playing against his old club, tried to use his 6ft 7in frame to Stoke’s advantage but it was, in fact, Walters who broke the deadlock nipping ahead of Jones to get on the end of a tasty ball from Muniesa.

    Moses on loan from Chelsea made a vital contribution to the second when his run down the left allowed for a low cross that found an unmarked Jonathan Walters and he finished with aplomb.

    Meanwhile, his compatriot Osaze Odemwingie started the game before he was replaced by Shenton in the 81st minute.

    The Eagles star enjoyed a winning debut as Peter Crouch put the gloss on the result in the 90th minute when he headed home to put the game beyond Portsmouth.

    Moses played for 64 minutes.

    Chelsea winger Victor Moses is determined to put his Liverpool nightmare behind him and force his way into Jose Mourinho’s first team this season.

    The Nigeria international made his first appearance for Chelsea in a year when he was introduced for Azpilicueta on the hour in their 2-1 victory over Hungarian side Ferencvaros Sunday night.

    The 23-year-old is aiming to rebuild his career after making just six Premier League starts at Liverpool last term after being sent to Anfield on a season-long loan.

    He looked certain to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, but Mourinho is having second thoughts about the Nigeria international because he counts as a home grown player in the Premier League and Champions League.

    Moses, who played for his country at the World Cup this summer, is hoping to take the opportunity despite being linked with a loan move away and said: “There are a lot of quality players here but I will keep giving it all I have got.

    “I just have to forget about last season and think about this season, concentrate and keep working hard.

    “What happened at Liverpool – that’s football for you. It was a loan move, I wanted to play football but I unfortunately didn’t get as many games as I expected.

    “My fitness is getting there. It was my first pre-season game – I came back injured after the World Cup. I couldn’t join up with the lads and was just getting treatment at the training ground.”

    “I’m delighted I got on (against Ferencvaros) and had the minutes I had. You’re looking at three-four games before you get back to full fitness. I’m enjoying my football at the moment and will just keep working hard,” he further told London Evening Standard.

    Aston Villa is reportedly interested in Victor Moses as manager Paul Lambert looks to bolster his side ahead of the new season.

    Report says Lambert wants Moses on loan for the campaign and is waiting for a response from Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

    After struggling on loan at Liverpool last season, it is believed the Super Eagles winger will be farmed out again, kickOffNigeria.com reports.

    The former Wigan star has become very much sought after by Premiership clubs in the past few days, with West Bromwich Albion also linked with a move for him.
