    Nollywood actress and fashion enthusiast, Mercy Aigbe Adeoti has confirmed her status as she returns to Nigeria with her businessman husband, Kazim Adeoti.

    The mother of two confirmed herself as an “Alhaja” upon completion of her pilgrimage journey in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

    The actress and her colleagues, including Kemi Korede and Kemi Afolabi, also attended the Holy Pilgrimage.

    Hours ago, Mercy Aigbe confirmed the completion of her Hajj journey in a joint Instagram post with her husband.

    “Alhamdulilah for the completion of our Umurah/Hajj Rites.

    “To all those wishing to visit the holy land, May Allah grant your heart desires and make it easy for you. 

    ILEYA,” she wrote on Instagram.

    Sit-at-home: Ban on order still stands – Enugu Govt. insists

    The Enugu State Government has said that its earlier ban on Monday’s sit-at-home order still stands, calling on Enugu residents to disregard social media falsehood and images.

    Worried by the development and panic that erupted in the state on Wednesday, the state government in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, said the ban would be enforced.

    According to him, the Enugu State Government has monitored and assessed reports of alleged incidents of shooting in parts of the state today, and found them to be mere scaremongering by the enemies of peace and progress.

    He said these enemies wanted to test their resolve to end the illegal sit-at-home order by intentionally spreading panic and fear among the good people and residents of Enugu state.

    “The peddlers and instigators of the fake news and pandemonium are already being tracked down by government and the security agencies with a view to bringing them to book.

    “The Enugu State Government, therefore, urged members of the public to disregard the falsehoods and fake images being spread on social media and go about their businesses.

    “Security measures are fully in place to enforce law and order as well as safeguard lives and property.

    “We must not succumb to the evil machinations of those, who have no stake in our state; those who mostly live, work, and educate their children overseas, while destroying the economy of our people, the education and future of our children at home,” he said.

    He added that the state government reiterated that the ban on the illegal action would be enforced to the full extent of the law.

    “All offices, markets, business premises, schools, among others, remain open and fully functional and hose who want to test the collective resolve and strength of Ndi Enugu will not only be defeated, but will be meted the full wrath of the law,” Onyia said.

    The six days sit-at-order by factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

    The News Agency of Nigeria recalled that Gov. Peter Mbah of Enugu State few days upon assumption of office announced end to Monday’s sit-at-home in the state effective from June 5.

    He had said that such orders restricted creativity, entrepreneurship, and productivity in the state as well as threatened to ban any school, markets, financial institutions among others that obeyed the order.

    Determined to press for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of proscribed IPOB by the Federal Government, the factional leader of IPOB, Simon Ekpa announced one week total lockdown in the entire southeast from July 3 to July 10. (NAN)

    Actor Rotimi Salami has argued a man can’t be considered a gentleman if he visits a lady’s house without a gift for her.

    Salami stated this on TVCs ‘YourView’ in reaction to a recent incident where a lady accused a man of being selfish and financially insensitive due to his inactions.

    Intimating the film star on the incident, Morayo Afolabi-Brown narrated how a man left Ondo for Lagos to see his girlfriend he’s been courting online for a few months.

    He reportedly got to her house and stayed for two days but without taking a gift to her. So, the lady was displeased with him that he could come all the way and didn’t think of getting her anything or rendering any form of financial support afterward.

    Seeking the actor’s opinion on the matter, Afolabi said: “He stayed two days, ate her food, probably did a lot of things with her. Was it wrong not to take a gift to her?”

    Salami explained he could never be involved in such a scenario because he’s someone who’s always prepared for uncertainties.

    He said: “Of course, I won’t do the same thing because I’m a very rational person. I expect anything at any time. What if I get there, she’s broke or I don’t even get to see her?

    “And I’m that kind of person that until it happens, I don’t think that it’ll happen. So, I’m always prepared…worst case scenario.

    “So, definitely I’ll be loaded going to see her. So, I don’t think that’s gentlemanly enough.”

    Actor Felix Ugo Omokhodion has expressed grief over the passing of his wife.

    The grieving film star lamented the demise of his partner noting her absence left an inexplicable void in his life.

    In his parting message to his deceased wife, Omokhodion said they shared an everlasting love whose flames would forever burn within him until they reunite.

    He bade her farewell, finding solace in the fact that his bride resides with angels in paradise.

    Smart ways to authenticate JAMB result slip

    The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) blacklisted one of its candidates from Anambra State, Ejikeme Mmesoma, for allegedly forging the result of her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

    The board barred her from writing its examination for the next three years.

    Here are sure ways of validating the authenticity of jamb results by either candidates or educational institutions:

    1. DOWNLOAD JAMB QR RESULT CHECKER:

    The free version of the app is available on app stores online including Apple and Google Play stores. Once you have downloaded the app, click the QR code below on the app interface; use the back camera of your phone to capture the result QR; then it will reveal the candidate’s registration details. The result revealed has to match the one on the slip for it to be authentic.

    2. Compare JAMB result slip with  JAMB CAPS:

    The Central Admission Processing(CAPS) system of JAMB allows candidates to either accept or reject their admissions. It also shows if a candidate has already printed a result or not. Prior to the release of the new students’ results, the link to or portal for printing jamb results will still be available. Log into account on CAPS and compare the printed slip with that of JAMB CAPS to prove originality.

    3. CHECK SECURITY FEATURES:

    The JAMB result slip has a bar code bearing vital information; the online payment reference number has to reflect on the slip and the Jamb registration number is placed as a watermark across the slip. These can also be found on the jamb admission letter and they help to validate the authenticity of a jamb result slip.

    While there are other complex methods of checking the originality of a result, the aforementioned are simple ways of getting the desired results.

    Super Eagles duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi were missing in Leicester City’s first training session after the end of the season break, with speculations continuing to mount about the players’ possible departure from the club. 

    The two players have been reported as not willing to ply their trades next season for Leicester City following the club’s relegation to the English championship last season.

    Iheanacho, who joined the club from Manchester City in the summer of 2017, has a year left on his contract, while his compatriot, Wilfred Ndidi, also has a year left on his contract after committing to a six-year extension in 2018.

    Leicester City’s new manager Enzo Maresca has recently claimed in a press conference that the players who are not willing to continue with the club are free to leave, paving the way for both Nigerian Internationals to exit the club.

    While Iheanacho has been linked to several clubs in England, with rumors circulating that the striker prefers to keep playing in England, Ndidi has been attracting interest from Italy, with Jose Mourinho Roma believed to be among the suitors.

    Iheanacho has made 206 appearances for the Foxes and scored 55 goals having joined the club in 2017, while Ndidi has 7 goals in 192 appearances.

    German-born Fisayo Dele-Bashiru joins Turkish club Hatayspor Kulubu

    Turkish club Hatayspor Kukubu, have completed the signing of German-born Nigerian player Oluwafisayo Faruq Dele-Bashiru from Sheffield. 

    The talented midfielder has been at Sheffield since 2020, where he made 88 appearances and registered 8 goals. He contributed largely last season to the club’s promotion to the English Championship. 

    During his period, he showcased his potential in managing the midfield and displaying passing skills.

    His star performances for the club earned him the club’s Player of the Month in October 2021, and the EFL Cup Player of the Second Round in September 2022.

    Dele-Bashiru was born in Germany to Nigerian parents. He moved to England at a young age.

    His football journey started with the Manchester City youth team before he moved to Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2020.

    Hatayspor Kulubu communicated their imminent signing of the midfielder on their Instagram page after completing his medicals, stating.

    Young midfielder who previously wore a uniform for Manchester City U23 and Championship team Sheff Wed has undergone a medical check at Fulya Hospital.

    The Nigerian defender hasn’t represented either Germany or England at any level and hopes to get a chance one day to play for Nigeria. He has a brother named Tom Dele-Bashiru who is also a footballer and plays for English Championship side Watford.

    Tinubu mourns first FCT minister, Ajose-Adeogun

    President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of Nigeria’s first Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, who passed on last Saturday in Lagos.

    Ajose-Adeogun, who died at the age of 96 was appointed the Minister of Federal Capital in 1976 by the Murtala Mohammed Military Administration and served in the position till 1979.

    Tinubu described the former minister and notable businessman as an eminent statesman for his contributions to national development.

    He said that the country and the people of Lagos State  where he held an important traditional title, owe the deceased a debt of gratitude for his meritorious service.

    “I join the family, children, associates and Lagos State Government in mourning the death of Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, an illustrious son of Lagos, who served our country excellently as the first Minister of Federal Capital Territory.

    “Over 40 years after he served as a member of the Federal Executive Council, his records of unblemished and pioneering leadership of the FCT remain indelible till date.

    “Chief Ajose-Adeogun will be remembered for his contributions to the economic growth of our country as an industrialist and businessman of note.

    “He served his country well and the people of Lagos State where he was a traditional chief even much more. I pray that his soul will find eternal rest,” he said.

    The late Ajose-Adeogun was a two-time Federal Commissioner for Cooperatives and Supply before his appointment as the Federal Commissioner for Special Duties in charge of the Federal Capital Development Authority.

    He supervised the planning and the design of the Master Plan of Abuja during his time as the FCT Minister.
