  • What to know about Ooni’s six new queens

What to know about Ooni’s six new queens

Like a bolt from the blues, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi is in the news again- this time for romantic reasons.

The 48-year-old monarch married six women in less than two months.

There are unconfirmed reports that Ooni will marry three more women, totalling nine before the year ends.

Many Nigerians are indeed surprised at the recent developments. The unthinkable number of queens arriving the Ooni’s Palace in quick succession has caught the attention of many and also provoked a flurry of reactions.

While some feel his actions are in sync with traditional rites, he has drawn flak from others too.

Apart from Ooni’s many royal rumble, Ooni had a fair share of ‘romantic rumble’. He was previously married to Adebukola Bombata in 2008 but the marriage failed.

His marriage to Naomi Silekunola failed in December 2021.

Naomi his estranged wife, who runs an interdenominational ministry based in Ondo State, said she tried to make the union work but the 46-year-old monarch’s public identity is at variance with “his true self”.

Ooni previously had a broken marriage in 2017 when he parted ways with her Edo-born wife, Zaynab-Otiti Obanor, who he married on March 16, 2016. The marriage only lasted for one year and five months.

While it appears Ooni is unfazed by the avalanche of criticisms that have trailed his marital actions so far, the monarch, not minding his hecklers, has forged ahead in ushering his new queen.

  • Trademark looks/appearances of popular five Nigerians

Trademark looks/appearances of popular five Nigerians

A lot of people like things that clearly define them. While the rest of us want to rock different looks at different occasions and seasons, there are some people who feel attached to a certain lifestyle, costume, hair-do or even demeanor. For example American actor John Wick, has never been caught on camera holding the bodies of ladies, the far he can go is letting you stand close to him while he shows his palms to the screen. He has been known for never touching ladies when taking a shot with them, it makes no different if they’re celebrities or not.

Some individuals have sort of informally trademark their appearances to be relative to just them alone.  This becomes much more fascinating when the individual is popular because it makes the ordinary people who think alike to be able to relate to them.

Here are five popular people who have over the cause of the years imprinted their unique sense of style on the hearts of people:

    1. DJ Cuppy and her pink world: Let’s begin from Nigeria. It is no longer a surprise that popular disc Jockey, Florence Otedola is a pinkie. She in fact ostentatiously displays on our screens her love for the colour pink. She makes this a trade mark on everything around her, even to the colour of her hair. She moved from braiding, to wigs and then low cut but the colour pink remained a constant in all of her hair transformations.

Cuppy alludes her love for pink to American female rapper, Nicky Minaj. Recall that when her father Femi Otedola got his three daughters Lamborghini cars, no one needed to be told that the pink one belonged to cuppy, it was already a given. It will not be a fallacy to say that if given the power, Cuppy would gladly paint her very skin to the colour of pink

    2. Davido, his shiny lip-gloss and dimples. OBO as he is popularly called has been called a lot of things including ‘frog voice’ because of the texture of his voice. He had even got himself a diamond frog chain to own his flaws. But two of the outstanding things with David are his dimples and lip gloss. In fact, it seems as if he purposely smiles for the camera with the side of his face that shows his dimples. It is also now known that he doesn’t step out of his door without his lip gloss. It seems like the singer’s attempt is to create a mirror effect on his lips, one that would blind anyone who dared to stare too long at his shiny lips. A fan had even made a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) petite statue of the singer, which highlighted his nose and earrings, his chain, dimples and never to forget, his very shiny lip gloss

    3. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and her headscarf: From being the minister of Finance and budget in Nigeria to being the minister of foreign affairs, back to being the minister of  Finance and budget to minister, to being Secretary to the world bank and finally the Director General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo has experienced an upward trajectory of her career. It has been from one level of change to another for her but one thing remained constant, her head gear. The half-fitted scarfs she rocks has been a never changing adornment for the 68- year- old. One would think, for someone who had attained the height of global recognition, her dress sense would at least be influenced a little by ‘suit and tie wearing’ culture. But this woman remains unchanged. It seems as though  uncovering her hair is a privilege given to only a few people around her.

After she became DG of WTO, Nigerian women and even female children took turns in tying head gears in an attempt to mimic her dress style and it was tagged ” The Ngozi Challenge”. Females dressed like the DG to showcase who is better at being an “Ngozi”

    4. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his Bayelsan cap: The few times we’ve seen Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in a suit and tie, without his popular South-South head cap, he just didn’t look good luck Jonathan enough. When a caricature is made in Nigeria, one might have trouble identifying who is who but with Goodluck Jonathan, his cap gives him away, like the character Peter in the Bible whose native accent made him stand out among people who regarded him a traitor. We have all come to accept that Goodluck never leaves his dark grey South-South cloth and his cap

    5. Bishop David Oyedepo and White: It was not so in the beginning but it seems that the older he became the more Bishop David Oyedepo, the head Pastor of Living Faith ministries preferred white to any other cloth. The Christian faith have an inclination to white, it signifies a lot of things for us including, holiness, glory and sometimes the Holy Spirit who is the third Person in the God Head Family. Although his reason has not been quite revealed, One of his popular sluggard is, ‘moving from glory to glory,  that is the best bet so far.

  • Top eight nations that didn’t qualify for Qatar 2022

Top eight nations that didn’t qualify for Qatar 2022

When the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off in November in Qatar, a number of notable international squads will be absent.

Here is a list of highest-ranking countries that will not be part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar:

    *Italy

Italy missed out on securing a spot after a 92nd-minute loss to North Macedonia in their playoff semifinal in March. The fact that they were in the playoffs was also surprising, given their Euro 2020 triumph last year and a string of good qualifying results leading up to the tournament.

However, they only won one of the next five matches and were held to four draws. A second-place finish behind Switzerland qualified them for the playoffs, where they failed to score and thus missed the World Cup for the second time in a row.

Italy’s last appearance at the World Cup ended in the group stage in 2014 in Brazil.

    *Sweden

Sweden has competed in 12 of the 21 world cups. The country hosted the tournament in 1958, and the team achieved its best result by reaching the final, where it was defeated by Brazil in a high-scoring match.

The journey to Qatar of the 2018 quarter finalists was derailed when they lost three of their six matches in the second leg of qualifiers last year. They finished second in their group, behind Spain, and were drawn to play Poland in the playoffs.

The playoff tie was held in Poland and the home team took full advantage of the support by winning 2-0 and ending the youthful Swedish side’s dreams of making it to Qatar.

    *Chile

Chile has competed in the World Cup since its inception in 1930. In 1962, they hosted the tournament and finished third.

Chile has reached the round of 16 in the last three editions (1998, 2010 and 2014). Chile is finding it difficult to achieve positive results due to the deterioration of their top players’ form.

They only won one of their last four qualifiers for Qatar 2022.

    *Nigeria

It marks the African team’s first failure to qualify for a World Cup since 2006. Nigeria’s dreams of playing in front of a large expat Nigerian population were dashed when they drew both their playoff legs against Ghana. The second leg of the tie saw Ghana qualify for Qatar on the basis of an away goal.

Nigeria made its debut at the World Cup in 1994 and became an instant hit with the fans due to their attacking style of play and entertaining goal celebrations.

The Super Eagles topped their group but got knocked out of the tournament in the round of 16 after a stunning comeback by Italy led by Roberto Baggio.

    *Russia

Russia is the only country that has been politically forced out of the 2022 World Cup. Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine earlier this year, FIFA announced the team’s exclusion from all competitions.

Russia was one of the favourites to qualify from Europe and build on its run to the quarter-finals in 2018. Russia filed an appeal against the ban with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but withdrew it later.

    *Egypt

With a World Cup in the Middle East, Mohamed Salah leading the team, and a large expat population in Qatar, Egypt would have been salivating at the prospect of qualifying for the 2022 event.

However, their star player, Salah, missed his penalty as well as two others when Egypt drew with Senegal in the playoff.

Egypt has failed to advance past the group stage in all three world cups in which it has competed.

    *Algeria

It was one of the most dramatic finishes in World Cup qualifying history, and it stunned the entire world.

Algeria was on the verge of qualifying for Qatar 2022 after defeating Cameroon in a playoff tie late in extra time.

However, Karl Toko Ekambi scored seconds before the final whistle to secure his team’s place in the playoffs on the basis of away goals.

    *Colombia

Colombia is another notable country that will not compete in this year’s World Cup after finishing outside of the top five in the South American qualifying league. They finished one point behind Peru and thus missed out on the inter-confederation playoffs.

They were denied a third consecutive World Cup appearance due to a dismal performance in which they won only 5 of their 18 games.

Colombia, ranked 19th in the world, performed admirably at the 2014 tournament in Brazil, reaching the quarter-finals before exiting in the final 16 in Russia in 2018.

  • No bra day: Six benefits of going braless

No bra day: Six benefits of going braless

Bras and women have a troubled connection. A great bra might provide fantastic support and shape but on other days, bras can stab you and cause discomfort. Numerous studies over the years have found that wearing a bra may not be physiologically, anatomically, or psychologically necessary and may not significantly benefit your health (keep your breasts young and healthy). They might not be the most comfortable though, depending on the sort of cloth used to make them.

To raise awareness of breast cancer, ladies are asked to forego wearing bras on October 13 of each year. The first No Bra Day was celebrated on July 9, 2011. However, after three years, it was relocated to October, on the thirteenth day of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Here are six benefits of going braless at least for a day:

    · Improved breast skin condition

Regularly pressing dirt and perspiration against the skin of the breasts while wearing a bra can clog pores and irritate the skin, especially beneath the breasts. If you’ve ever worn your sports bra a little too long after a workout, you may have felt this irritation, even though it is more typical in women with larger breasts. Going bra-free allows the skin to breathe more easily, stay clear, and be free of any potential irritants that could cause pores to clog.

Read Also: Seven benefits of breast sucking to women by experts

    · Increased blood flow

Long periods spent wearing a bra can feel restrictive, smothering, and plain uncomfortable. (If you concur, raise your hand.) Bras can reduce blood flow to the muscles in the back and chest, which can lead to pain and discomfort. One of the main benefits of forgoing the bra is that you can improve the blood flow to your upper body. Those aching muscles from wearing a bra are history!

    · Enhanced breast form and muscular tone

Fear of their breasts sagging without the added support provided by wearing a bra is one of the main reasons why many women are discouraged from giving up their bras. I’m here to tell you that this is wholly untrue.

    · Gradual comfort improvement

Many women are so used to wearing a bra that they feel utterly exposed when they go braless for the first time. Take it from the girl who hasn’t worn a real bra since 2017 (apart from special occasions and holidays): after you get used to it, you entirely lose the discomfort and feel more at ease and liberated overall. You won’t ever want to wear actual bras again since it is so unpleasant.

    · Not wearing a bra can strengthen your breasts

Rouillon discovered that not wearing a bra strengthened women’s breasts in the same study. Long-term consequences of not wearing a bra revealed that additional muscle tissue developed to act as a natural support system. According to Dr. Seshandri, the breast tissue must be raised against gravity by the body’s pectoral muscles. Therefore, don’t use the weight equipment at the gym; instead, discard your bra.

    · It may also make them perkier

Your breasts appear “perkier” when you’re without wearing a bra because of all the additional muscle. According to Rouillon’s research, women who didn’t wear bras often had their nipples elevated 7mm higher than those who did. But according to Dr. Seshadri, it all depends on the size of your breasts. Wearing a bra, she notes, “may slow down the process of sagging if your breast size is higher.”

“Putting this into context, that’s basically the entire population of England. It is estimated that one-sixth of Pakistan people are now homeless and that is all due to climate change,” she said.

Were 50 million people displaced in Pakistan in August 2022?
