Our tears won’t dry until our daughters return, say parents of Chibok girls abducted eight years ago

It was exactly eight years since the abduction of 276 girls from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State two weeks ago. Curiously, activities marking the day were relatively low, as it played second fiddle to politics. The Nation however reached out to some parents of some of the girls who are still in captivity and GBOYEGA ALAKA and JOEL DUKU report on their hopes and expectations.

How do parents retain their sanity, knowing that their young, impressionable girls have been in the custody of the dreaded Boko haram insurgents in the last eight years? How do they feel each time some of the girls return and their own daughters are not among them? Have they lost hope? If not, what’s keeping their hope alive and how have they lived each single day, knowing that there is the remote possibility that they may never set eyes on their children again? Does the government still reach out to them?

These were some of the questions The Nation sought answers for as the world marked the eighth anniversary of the unfortunate incident.

Recall that 276 girls were forcibly abducted from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State in the night of April 14 and 15, 2014, pushing the hitherto little unknown town into global reckoning. Hope rose on a few occasions when news frittered in that the girls were back, as the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government stepped up efforts to fulfill its campaign promise of retrieving the girls, but only a handful of parents smiled on those occasions, leaving a huge number to return home in agony and despair. At the last count, a whopping 109 girls were still in captivity.

My life is completely shattered – Racheal Daniel

Racheal Daniel, mother of one of the girls in captivity, captured her predicament rather succinctly when she told our reporter in a telephone interview that “for the past 8 years, the government of President (Muhammadu) Buhari has promised they would bring back our children but there is no result up till now. They brought half of the children and left half with Boko Haram.

“But we are begging them not to be tired of us. They should try and find our children wherever they are and bring them back to us. They may be tired, but please tell them we have never stopped crying for our children, not even for a day.

“We sent our children to school to make a good life. We did not send them to school to be kidnapped or forced to be married to some people.

“Now, instead of the good life we craved for them, they are going through rough time while we their parents wallow in despair. Some of us parents have even died of blood pressure while others are battling different kinds of illnesses.”

Mrs Daniel, who is a widow, having lost her policeman husband on duty in Dikwa back in 2009, now ekes out a living as a sweeper to take care of her household of nine.

She said: “My life is completely shattered. I am begging the government. There are some of us, like me, who don’t even have husbands.

“Look at us now, our children, though alive, are not even available to help or support us, and neither can we help forgotten her, even for a day, in the past eight years. Except I die, I will never forget her, not even for a second.”

She however confessed that the incident has affected her desire for education.

“Honestly, I am afraid of sending children to school at the moment, especially boarding school. I cannot send any of my children to a boarding school again – except for a day school, where they would go and come back and sleep in the house with me. But boarding school? Over my dead body!”

We’re losing hope in President Buhari – Ya’ana Galang

Another mother, Ya’ana Galang, whose daughter, Rifkatu, is still in the hands of the abductors, told our correspondent that they are still holding President Buhari to his promise to get the girls back, even as an end to his regime draws nearer without any appreciable development or positive news.

“We are still counting on President Mohammadu Buhari. We still hold onto his word that he will rescue our daughters and reunite them with us before he leaves office.

“It is, however, not comforting that there is no news about our children up till now.

“What is worrisome to most of us is the fact that his tenure may soon end without him keeping his promise. That, I must say, is putting us in a total state of confusion.

“We demand action from the President from this moment. Eight years is not eight hours or eight days.”

Consequently, she said one of her topmost wishes is to meet with the President and remind him of the promise he made to them concerning their daughters.

“How I wish I had another opportunity to see the President. I will remind him of the promise he made to us.

“Look at me. I cried and wailed at the feet of the President, but up till this moment, I have not seen my daughter.”

She went further to narrate how the last eight years have been of hope and despair, and agony and pain, as no day passes without her remembering her daughter and daughters of her neighbours and family members still in captivity.

“No day passes without me thinking about Rifkatu. I have lived in this hopeful but sometimes hopeless situation in the last eight years.

“When are we going to reunite with our children? It is a question we don’t have answers to, except God almighty.

“But the government should show us concern by working hard to bring our daughters back to us.”

She recalled how excited she was when news of the first set of released girls reached her, and how she was devastated when it dawned on her that her daughter was not among them. Though consoled by the fact that her daughter was not the only one not released, she said her hope was rekindled when they met President Buhari at the Villa and he promised to bring back their daughters.

“I was one of the weeping Chibok women that held the feet of President Buhari and begged him to rescue our daughters and he promised to make it happen.

“We were hopeless but his words encouraged us and this is how we have been waiting in the last eight years,” Galang said.

She however said the incident has not dowsed her interest in school and education for her children.

“What Boko Haram has done will never change my perception about school. I still send my children to school.

“I will never deny my children education because of their ideologies. My children will always go to school as long as I am alive,” she said.

She maintained, however, that her only concern is to be reunited with her daughter alive, regardless of whether she is married or changed religion.

“My major concern is to see my daughter alive. I don’t care whether she is married to anybody or has converted to any other religion. These are not my problems now. I just want to see my daughter.

“If she is married and she has children, I will receive all of them. They are my grandchildren. Those are not my problem at all.”

Government not doing enough – Chibok girl who escaped

Hadiza Kwagui is one of the first set of girls who escaped the Chibok school abduction, having been initially taken alongside her mates. She is of the opinion that her mates have not been reunited with their parents because the government has not been doing enough.

Following that unfortunate incident and her escape, Hadiza went on to complete her secondary education at Bethel International Christians Academy, Jos. And while she awaits an opportunity for further studies, possibly in the United States of America like some of her colleagues, she is currently undergoing training in tailoring skills to earn some money and make better life for herself.

His brother, Ayuba Alamson, gave an insight into the suffering and challenges some of the returnee Chibok girls are going through.

Specifically, he said this was why he took it upon himself to register Ayuba Alamson Foundation, with the aim of mobilising people of goodwill to pull resources together to mitigate the sufferings of some of the returnee girls and help them realise their dreams in life.

His foundation, he explained, is out to see to the welfare of the returnee Chibok girls and even take care of some of the children they brought back from forced marriage while in Boko Haram captivity.

“We cannot reject our daughters or their children. Whatever happens, those children they brought back from captivity will remain part of our society.

“The primary aim of my foundation is to look at some of these challenges dispassionately and deal with them humanely. children they brought from those marriages are brought up to be useful to society. Neglecting them will be a fatal mistake on our part,” Alamson explained.

He lamented that the Federal Government is not doing enough to rescue the girls, expressing fears that some of them may have been killed by military operations and other factors.

He said: “It is clear that the government of Nigeria is not doing enough, especially on the rescue of the Chibok girls.

“This is the eighth year. Other abductions have taken place in various parts of the town and the children have been released.

“It has happened in Zamfara, Niger, Katsina, Kaduna and even the Dapchi girls in Yobe State. Why is the Chibok case different?”

Continuing, he said: “We hear that thousands of Boko Haram members have repented and surrendered. We also hear that the Army is rescuing hundreds of women and children. Why have they not once stumbled on where the Chibok girls are being kept and rescue

  • Parents, stop submitting your children to the devil!!!

Parents, stop submitting your children to the devil!!!

IN recent times, I was invited to speak with the teenagers at a Methodist Church in Lagos and a girl asked me why even a teenager could get addicted sex! My response was as follows:

    1. Lack of intentional parenting.
    2. Lack of sex education
    3. Childhood Abuse
    4. Physical neglect and trauma
    5. Satanic manipulation
    6. Spiritual attacks and more!

I joyfully gave each of the girls, a copy of one of my new books- “Wisdom for Girls,” to reset their confused and possibly distorted souls!

A few days later, a music artiste, Temmie Ovwasa whom I had always suspected was reacting to a childhood trauma with her sexual orientation and the mournful spirit she exudes told the world she was abused by her stepfather between the ages of 11-17 and her mother refused to believe her. Asides being a lesbian, she wears a sorrowful look and speaks against God! Her life was stolen from her before her mother’s very eyes and her mother chooses not to believe her! How cruel!!! Barely 48 hours after her story went viral, another story of minors of a prominent school engaging in a sex orgy when they went for a competition in Dubai last month rented the air and the video of the evil act has since gone viral! And as usual, the girl-child is the one bearing the brunt!

Before we blame the school for negligence and irresponsibility- leaving minors alone in a hotel room outside the country, what type of parent allows a 10-year-old go for a competition or excursion outside the country without accompanying the child? How can any mother sleep well knowing her baby is with strangers outside the country??? What type of child would be so daring as to leave her hotel room and go to another room 7 floors away from hers and go and engage in sex? What type of parent raised such a child? What spirit is she possessed with? Which spirit is controlling her life because she’s certainly not herself? I have never in my life heard of any child described contemptuously as the little girl was described on social media! Her picture has since gone viral and people are not sparing her parents especially her mother! A lot of adults i must say with with questionable characters who watched the video said she wasn’t raped as her mother cried that she in fact was the one who was harassing the boy or boys she was engaging in sex with and with different styles. It was later discovered that she has a social media account where she posts erotic dances she records in her home and tells you to download for daily madness and cringe and has gathered over 24,000 likes at that age! Can you imagine how creative and intelligent this girl really is and how best she could have channeled her energy if her parents had intentionally raised her in godliness? But how can a 10-year-old be talking about entertaining you with madness and cringe? Isn’t this also as a result of her exposure on her smartphone? Do some parents think at all? Even if she needs a smart gadget for school work, can’t she be given an iPad or tablet that’s child-friendly?

Believe me, with the permissiveness of today’s parents, we might end up having more “yahoo boys” and porn stars than professors, scientists, lawyers and engineers in future! Yes! This is because those who are to birth the future generation are daily being messed up by those who brought them to the world who can’t ensure they follow the right path! But can they even raise their children in godliness when they have no iota of godliness in them? I’m talking about parents who would watch BBN and idolize the house mates and unconsciously carve a role model out of them for their children who are listening, parents who would wear indecent clothing and dance to crazy, indecent lyrics which turn the female to sexual objects! Or parents who themselves are serial adulterers oozing the spirit of lust and transmitting same to their offsprings…I could go on and on!

The thought that the children could engage in such an act is so heartbreaking and painful because they certainly don’t know what they’ve been doing! I would say the devil stole their souls out of their parents’ negligence!!! My business here at Girls Club is the girl hoping someone else is looking out for the boys and i must say someone perhaps in the family must have abused her at a very young age and set her on the ruinous path that she is.  Indeed a lot of parents are responsible for their children’s sexual immorality and pervasiveness and a lot of youth aren’t happy they’re addicted to sex either and have to wear their hearts and body out!

    BK Beegold

My darling, precious, glorious, dignified, world-famous and heavenly celebrated Nigerian daughters,

How to have your dreams manifest this year and shine like the star that you are! (Contd.)

    1. Monitor your dreams

Unknown to a lot of people, your dreams are a blueprint of the state of your life! That is whatever is going to happen to you usually stems from and is established in the supernatural realm which is the source of our existence. So many say they don’t dream and I tell you that’s like groping in darkness. If you are lucky to dream regularly, you must ensure you take steps to see the manifestation of your good dreams or cancel the bad dreams with the power of God! A lot would have fared so well in life and wouldn’t have suffered misfortunes that made their lives “hell on earth” if they had prayerfully attacked some bad dreams! A lady once told me on the last day of a certain year, she dreamt she gave birth to triplets and her mother killed the babies and she woke up crying. I know for certain that she went partying that day and didn’t embark on any serious prayers or deliverance. The following year was a nightmare for her as she faced rejection, disappointments, lack of favour, closed doors and pain in all forms such that she almost took her life!

God could even show you wonderful wonders He’s planned for you but if you are not careful enough and well-prepared to receive them, the enemy who has also seen them, can ensure they never come to pass! People have had life-transforming breakthroughs, marriages, children plucked off their lives forever in one dream or the other rendering their stay on earth very unpleasable. May that not be your portion in Jesus name!

    1. Strive to live a complete life of holiness

It is written in the scriptures-

“The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.”

    Psalm 25:14

“However, as it is written: What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived – the things God has prepared for those who love him-these are the things God has revealed to us by his spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.”

    1 Cor.2:9-10

If you want to enjoy what God has planned for you this year and have they manifest, you have to live a life that’ll please God and draw Him close to you. I bet if a lot of girls/ladies saw their originality and saw the goldmine they are, they won’t be sleeping with men and dashing out what should settle them in life and make them very wealthy! In your ignorance, may you not be deprived of what will settle you for life and give you global prominence in Jesus name!

  • ADEJOKE AKINSEYE: I’m running against 12 men and will floor them

ADEJOKE AKINSEYE: I’m running against 12 men and will floor them

Adejoke Taiwo Adekambi Akinseye is a researcher, with a doctorate in Mathematics. She is the founder Aderoju Ayoade Adekanbi (AA) Foundation and at the moment, she is contesting to be a member Ibadan North East\South East Constituency for the Federal House of Representatives. In this interview with Yetunde Oladeinde, she talks about what she would be bring to the table, touching lives , role of women in politics and more.

What are you bringing to the table as a politician?

As a politician, as a woman, I am bringing a lot of things. I have been doing a lot of help for the community in the past six or seven years and so whatever I am bringing now is in addition to whatever I have been doing. I have been helping women, empowering them, training women, youths and men in a lot of things like agriculture, fashion and so many things.

So, coming to the table, I am going to improve the lives of people, add value to them and make sure as much as possible that I alleviate poverty. Not only that, I have a lot of friends abroad because I have lived in the UK for 20 years. I can bring them in, investors, educationist to come and improve my state.

    What constituency are you representing?

I am representing Ibadan North East and South East constituency.

How was the reception when you told them that you would be contesting?

It was awesome. I never thought that they would embrace me the way they did but they did. As a woman and that I was educated, I am an Ibadan indigene, educated to doctoral level, PhD in Mathematics. So, they embraced me and they were happy that they had a woman who could represent them in the House of Representatives.

    Were there challenges?

There was a lot of challenge but with every challenge, there is always a way out. There is a challenge of funding because when you get there they would tell you, if you don’t have 100 million madam forget it.

Another aspirant would come, give them money and you don’t have that kind of fund. But the only solution that has been able to help me is that the work that I have done in the past six years. All the gifts, the businesses that I have been able to set up, the equipment that I have given to people. Now, people are coming out to say this is what this woman has done. If she was not in the government and she did this, if she gets to government, she would certainly do better. That has been what has been helping me so far.

Do you know the number of men that you will be contesting with, since you are the only woman in the race?

There are about twelve men in the race. For the primaries, I believe that I am going to get it, because with God on my side and with the work that I have done speaking for me. The Bible says that your gifts will make room for you. People are telling me that this people are coming now, we have never seen them but we know you in the community.

We have known you for the past six years, so you don’t have any problem.

Ibadan is known for strong politics with the likes of Baba Adedibu and amala politics. Did this have any impact on you personally?

They are very strong but I believe that with people, funding, God will help me. That is all I can say.

To be in the political process, you must have studied the trend. You are also a very scientific person, what have you been doing to get yourself to this level?

I have been studying the way politicians have been doing in that state especially in my constituency. I have studied and researched so many of the politicians that have gone to represent, especially in the house of Reps.

They go for four years and you won’t see them. Then when the time for elections comes, they would give them some bit, money and all that and people would rush there. But, I am changing that strategy. That was why for the past six years, I have been doing all this work.

Interestingly, I wasn’t looking at going into politics but my people were the ones that said why you don’t push this into politics. So, my strategy is what I am doing while I was not in government, I would do better when I get into government.

Let’s talk about the five bills rejected by the National Assembly and the women’s protest?

Following that Bill, I would have thought that with the way women came out in their thousands they would look at that bill and use it to favour us. At least 35 per cent of women in positions and all that.

But, the Bill is still not satisfactory and I believe that with the tenacity of women, we would get there. So, we should not relent in whatever it is that we are doing. We should do more to make sure that they listen to us and give us what we want.

Let’s talk about the theme for the 20222 International Women’s day celebrations, #BreakTheBias. What does this mean to you?

Breaking the bias actually sums up all that we have been saying. There is a lot of bias, women you cannot get there, women you cannot do this. Women you are only supposed to do this, you are not supposed to do that and go beyond the barrier. But there is need to break that bias and until we break that bias, Nigeria as a nation cannot experience what they should experience as a nation. That is because; women are the ones that can make the difference. Women are natural nurturers, women would go out of their way, ensure that children go to school, eat, and take care of the husband and the family. They do a lot of things. So, if you give women the chance, this nation would change and transform totally. I strongly believe that.

Mentoring has helped a lot of people. Did you have mentors in politics or in your career and how did it help you?

Mentoring is very fantastic because there are some women that I go to, to ask questions, to lead and direct me. There is also Mrs. Omowunmi Gbadamosi especially when I shared my ambition with her two years ago and she counseled me and led me through the right step to take. In my career also and in a lot of things that I do, I usually look up to mentors.

Even as a pastor, I have mentors as well. I look up to them; ask them questions so that I would not go wrong. So mentors and mentoring is very important in anything that we do.

Violence is linked to politics, has it ever cropped up at all?

Yes, that is another obstacle that affects women. This is because when it comes to violence, I have had to handle it. When you go out, you need security and protection. You need people to go out with you, when you are on the field.

But people that are going to surround you with security and prayers, and with God, I believe that would be overcome. Women make the difference. It is time for women to take their stand. The more women that come out, the better and the more change for Nigeria.

Tell us a bit about your professional background and where you are coming from?

I had my first degree in Microbiology in 1989, University of Ibadan. I went to staff school Ibadan, went to St Anne’s, Ibadan polytechnic for my A-levels and then UI. I had my first degree in Microbiology but I have always had passion for Mathematics. My father while I was growing up gave me that passion. In secondary school, he usually teaches me Maths a lot that was back in the days. In the western region my dad came second in the exams that they did. So, the western Region sent him to study Quantity Survey in UK with Chief Olunloyo. So, with that passion of Mathematics, I took that on after my first degree, I went to UK and did my BSc again in mathematics, did my masters and did my PhD and here I am today.

Mentioning chief Olunloyo means that politics runs in the blood. If he was close to your father, that must have been a great influence. Did he influence in any way?

No. Not really directly. But indirectly, Yes.

Girls…girls…girls, don’t let any boyfriend scatter your destiny this year!

MY darling, precious, glorious, dignified, world-famous and heavenly celebrated Nigerian daughters,

I began an interesting and highly impacting series in January which would help you succeed this year! Please Google and read my last 4 articles

    2022: A phenomenal year of shining for the sexually-pure (1 & 2)

Girls, manifest your dreams in 2022 and shine like a star! (1 & 2)

    Story continued from last week!

“I had always wanted to run a medical professional course (medicine or nursing precisely), so after my third failed attempt which I told my boyfriend about, he bluntly told me to accept any lower course I’m  given. Only then did I start realizing something was terribly wrong somewhere! I knew somewhere deep inside of me that what I needed was even if I needed it at all-someone that will bring out the best in me and not someone that will kill the light in me! Then began my fourth admission trial!

My guardians who loved education so dearly decided to sort my admission out painstakingly and were struggling and working towards paying 360k for my admission in school as I got admission to study combined social science at UNN not nursing, medicine, biochemistry, dentistry etc. I was devastated  and when I told him about the new development, Mr. Man said I should accept it and move on with my life that certificate doesn’t speak again in this country (most times when he talks like this I wondered if he is indeed a graduate as he claimed yet I was lost in him.

I still made up my mind to fight again and then BOOM I realized I had missed my period for 3 months! I thought it was an infection and before I knew it I was four months getting to five months then I began feeling movement in my tummy and I noticed my lower abdomen was strong so I decided to seek medical help. I thought I was smart but was really shocked when the doctor told me I was pregnant! I was in disbelief , I couldn’t stop crying and all of a sudden the eye patch that I had on me all this while fell off as I kept asking myself how I got to that point!  My family and everyone around me were shocked beyond words! I appeared as a leper and traitor before them! The disgrace and disappointment was nothing to be compared with….then I contemplated SUICIDE!

I drank a poisonous substance but after a while I vomited it! I guess God didn’t want me to die yet. The baby in me went through hell like she was the cause of my stupidity. It was so painful as I did all manner of things which I would rather not discuss! I later went through a D & C at 7 months (the pain, the risk and the death I saw with my eyes was and is still the beginning of wisdom)!  And lo and behold, the man who promised heaven and earth then, disappeared till date…even after helping him out with my hard-earned money for upkeep!

I later went back to my heart-broken widowed mother who amidst the shame and disappointment I gave her accepted me back but grounded me for a year from anything school and that was when I reconciled with God! I then decided there and then to walk a disciplined life if not for God, for the pain I went through at the age of 21! I also took up a teaching job in a school to while away the time!  Each time I looked at my mom I saw the pain and disappointment in her and I prayed to God to help me heal her as I didn’t want her to die as I had seen in my dreams.

Trust me when I say God is good-He accepted me irrespective of my filth and made me whole!  I prayed to him to guide me in my next jamb and give me the institution He desires for me. I passed my JAMB and he also revealed the institution beforehand. I even told Him to turn my story back to a testimony at least the one that will make my family receive me back a little and forget some of the pain I caused them. He did exactly that for me!

And then the devil reared its ugly head again…one of my colleagues back when I was teaching came with his marriage proposal. He wanted a marriage without courtship! He was way older, bossy and manipulative!

Spanish court declares Samuel Eto’o father of 22-year-old woman

A court in Madrid, Spain has ruled that former FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Chelsea striker, Samuel Eto’o is the biological father of a 22-year-old woman.

The woman in question, Erika Do Rosario Nieves, was born in Madrid in 1999, the period Eto’o was on loan at Espanyol, a club in the Spanish elite league, La Liga.

The Cameroonian retired footballer and current President of the country’s football association, was said to have met Erika Do Rosario Nieves’s mother between 1997 and 1998 when he was on loan at Leganés, a Spanish La Liga club based near Madrid, Spain’s capital city. He was 24 years old at the time.

While on loan at Leganés, the Cameroonian football legend decided to go to a nightclub in Madrid where he met Adileusa, the mother of Erika Do Rosario Nieves.

They started dating briefly and the short relationship, which started and ended in 1998, led to the pregnancy of Adileusa.

Reports claimed that Eto’o promised to act responsibly as far as the pregnancy was concerned. Other reports claimed that the Cameroonian football icon wanted to get rid of the baby.

When the retired footballer could not convince the woman to abort the baby, he allegedly cut all means of communication between him and the woman.

Adileusa tried different means to get in touch with Samuel Eto’o but was not able to do so. She only got to see him on television and newspaper pages.

Adileusa gave birth to Erika in 1999 even without being able to contact the supposed father of the lady. Hence, she was the only one that took care of the lady to date.

In 2018, she decided to drag Samuel Eto’o to court even though the footballer had never admitted that he has a child with her.

Adileusa wanted the court to confirm that the 22-year-old woman is the daughter of the retired footballer.

In the court proceedings that lasted for almost four years (2018 to 2022), Samuel Eto’o, who is currently the president of the Cameroon football association, did not deem it fit to attend the court hearing and never mentioned it by any means.

After a series of back and forth, the court confirmed that the 22-year-old woman is the daughter of Eto’o. Hence, the court ordered the three times UEFA Champions League winner to pay his Spanish daughter the sum of €1,400 per month from the year (2018) that the lawsuit was filed.

The judge, while delivering judgment, held that the woman provided biological evidence that supported her testimony that Erika was the daughter of the former striker.

Eto’o was yet to make any official or public reaction to the court ruling at the time of publishing this report.

    Eto’o’s other children

Apart from Erika Do Rosario Nieves, who a Madrid court ruled to be the daughter of Samuel Eto’o, the four times Africa player of the year and three times Spanish La Liga winner has four biological children – Maelle, Étienne, Siena and Lynn.

In 2007, the retired Cameroonian footballer married his childhood sweetheart Georgette, the mother of Siena and Lynn, who both live with her in Paris.

Eto’o scored his first goal at the Africa Cup of Nations for Cameroon 22 years ago.

He went on to become the competition’s all-time leading goal scorer with 18 goals.

I yielded to pressure from friends to form robbery gang – Suspect

A 29-year-old man identified as Chigozie Anene has confessed that he went into armed robbery, particularly the snatching of tricycles to boost his second-hand clothes business and give his late father a befitting burial.

Anene also revealed that he and his gang members were buying stolen goods from burglars and armed robbers.

He said he used to steal expensive cars and tricycles and sell them at give away price. For instance, he said, they could sell a car worth N10 million for half a million naira.

Police sources said he had a tricycle mechanic who was helping him to change some parts of a tricycle he had stolen so that whoever would buy it would not suspect that it was stolen. Anene was said to have gone into hiding after his gang was bursted by the Inspector General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT).

Revealing how the he was arrested by IRT operatives, the source said the operatives tactically asked Anene whether he had a tricycle he wanted to sell, with one of the IRT operatives posing as a buyer. But he was arrested as soon as he surfaced in a meeting with the ‘buyer’.

Narrating how he began the venture into armed robbery, Anene, a father of two, said: “I live in a one-room apartment at No. 4 Mosalasi Street, Igando, Lagos.

“I used to operate as one-man gang, singlehandedly stealing tricycles in my neighbourhood.

“My problem started when one Tunbu and one Prince became my friends and lured me into forming a three-man robbery gang to make bigger money.

“They convinced me that there is less risk in snatching cars than tricycles and that stolen cars have more standby buyers.”

Asked why he preferred to operate as a one-man gang, he said he operated without a gun or the risk of being exposed by any arrested gang member.

He added: “The urge to give my father a befitting burial contributed most to my forming a robbery gang as well as getting enough money to boost my second-hand clothes business and live big like some of my mates.

“When I decided to stop armed robbery, my members nearly assassinated me because they felt that they were no longer safe and they would not be able to rest after any robbery operation, because I could become a police informant.”

On what other thing that pushed him into armed robbery, he said: “When I wanted to start second-hand clothes business, there was no capital and no collateral to borrow money with.

“To make matters worse, my father had no savings and did not leave anything of value that I could sell to get some money to start business with.

“She was not happy about it, but there was nothing she could have done to stop me because I was desperate to get money to boost my business and give my late father a befitting burial.

“It was last year that my father died. I went to bury him and came back. Unfortunately, one boy carried my market, sold it and ran to Cotonou.

“When I went to their house and could not find him, I carried his elder brother’s generator and sold it for N6,000.

“My problem worsened when one of my friends named Kaka said we should do business together, not knowing that what he meant was for us to form a car snatching gang.

“He told me that we should start lifting and selling Big Daddy (Toyota) cars and fairly used tricycles to make more money.

“The first Big Daddy car and so called fairly used tricycles we got, I could not account for any of them because my members refused to tell me whether they sold them or not.

“Rather, they kept telling me that the police were pursuing them and they had to abandon the stolen vehicles, which sounded to me like a cock and bull story. They have not given me a dime from the stolen vehicles.

“When I tried to locate Kaka, they told me that he had relocated to his village while Tunbu’s whereabouts are still not known to till now.”

Asked his advice for people who are still into crime, he said: “Crime is a curse; run away from it while your legs can still carry you.

“Stealing and armed robbery have only two bus stops: prison and graveyard.”

2022: A phenomenal year of shinning for the sexually-pure! (II)

Dear Madam Temilolu, Happy New Year ma. I’m a 29-year-old virgin and I thought to inform you my wedding is coming up April this year. I’d like to thank you most sincerely for your teachings which have helped me since I began reading your articles about 5 years ago. I’m so happy I kept myself for the right man and I must confess you really helped me. Thanks so much ma.

    Paula

    Dear Aunty Temilolu,

I must confess God is really using you ma. Many thanks and may God bless you for the good work you’re doing. It appears most of your posts about ungodly sex is referring to me as my spirit is totally against it because whenever I engage in such, in my dreams I will see myself defeated and rolling in the mud. Meanwhile, so many prophets have told me to stop it in order for God to use me mightily! Several times I have confessed and promised I will not do it anymore but find myself doing it with married man of recent and single guys. No serious relationship and I’m a 31-year-old bread winner of my family not the first nor second child.

In my family nothing is working at all; we are suffering from serious poverty and I’m praying for God to use me to bring financial blessings to my family but I’m seriously battling with sexual lust and diverse sins. I always vow not to engage in it no matter the pressure but still fall victim. I have intentions to travel out and I have actually received so many prophecies about my travelling but I’m stuck right now. Please ma, I don’t know what to do I just need your counseling, thanks ma!

    Ena

You have the solution to your life’s challenges on your fingertips- all you need do is sit with God till He makes a way for you where there’s no way and makes you a wonderful wonder! Of course you can tame your flesh and stay away from ungodly sex. You should even be thankful you’ve been told He wants to use you mightily! My darling, precious, glorious, dignified, world-famous and heavenly celebrated Nigerian daughters,

If a good number of you saw what God had in store for you in 2021, you’d cry for days and blame yourselves so badly! Yes! I insist too many of you don’t have the faintest idea what leaves your life during sexual intercourse- a spiritual union and    exchange! Too many lost golden opportunities that could skyrocket their destinies while many others lost financial blessings that could rewrite their family’s history even while shouting “what God cannot do does not exist!” You just cannot be disrespecting God by dishonoring your body- His temple and think all can be well with you especially when the devil is bent on attacking you! MAY YOU RECOVER ALL YOU’VE LOST THIS YEAR IN JESUS NAME!

How to have your dreams manifest this year and shine like the star that you are!

    1. Stay away from everything and everyone who made you turn against God last year!

I’m afraid you’d have to cut ties with the guy you’ve been engaging in sex with and your ungodly friends! Some of them were sent into your life by the devil to derail you and divert the course of your destiny. Some of them could even be engaging in prostitution and appear to be enjoying a world of goodies but that might just be what would ensure you never manifest what God has planned for your life! You need to be very wise this year! And I must say time is going! What God scheduled to happen in your life/the blessings meant for last year, this year and next year may never ever come your way again if you don’t sit right and tight to have them at the appointed time!

Grace Oluwabukunmi Akinwale is the current Queen Moremi Ajasoro. In this encounter with Yetunde Oladeinde, she takes you into her world and talks about her beauty routine.

TALL, slim and beautiful, the first thing that catches your fancy is her captivating figure. How does she keep the shape you ask and the queen burst into infectious laughter?  “I must say that the shape is natural.  It runs in the family and I don’t do anything extra to sustain it or keep it in shape”.

However, Oluwabukunmi tells you that she pays more attention to her skin and that takes her to the Spa where the skin gets pampered from time to time. “I visit the Spa at least twice a month and I enjoy the attention and treatment that I get. In addition to that, I take good care of my skin at home myself and the results have been amazing. Even though I am not so keen about exercise I also visit the gym at least once a month”.

She added: “I drink a lot of water, sports, jumping and other forms of exercise “.

Apart from pampering and doing the needful as far as her skincare is concerned, she also talks about her diet.

“Fruits are a delight. I do take apples and yoghurt parfait. Interestingly, I eat a lot of fatty foods, protein and food that contains calories. I consume a lot of stuff. I don’t avoid anything”.

Using good cosmetics and makeup that enhances the look, she opined is very important. “Currently, I use Kiss Beauty products.  It’s a range that contains my Foundation, powders, eyeshadow and others.”

For hairdo, her preference is the Africa style which she said looks good on her. “I like shuku style done in a variety of ways. This includes weaving, didi and Ghana weaving styles”.

Now, she goes on to talk about her transformation from just a contestant to a beauty queen.  “My dressing has changed a lot since I became the queen.  In the past, I was more of a Jean person but all that has changed now. Now, I wear more of adire and I love it. I must say that I am adapting nicely and I love my new look and style”.

Oluwabukunmi continued: “Life as a queen is busy. My schedules are now tight compared to what it used to be. But it’s been wonderful, it’s been nice. I have been exploring, been to new places and trying new things”.

Just before she leaves, Oluwabukunmi advised young people this way: “My advice is don’t get too comfortable. Try to move out of your comfort zone and stay positive no matter what you are going through”.

  • TEMILOLU OKEOWO: I have so many daughters, I may not meet in my lifetime

TEMILOLU OKEOWO: I have so many daughters, I may not meet in my lifetime

Temilolu Okeowo is founder of the Girls Club of Nigeria, writer, lawyer and mentor to many young ladies. She recently published three books which would be presented to the public this week. In this interview with Yetunde Oladeinde, she talks about her inspiration, challenges, lessons learnt over the years and more.

TELL us about the inspiration for your new books, Letters to my daughters, Becoming an Alpha Female and Wisdom for Girls?

I decided to put some of my articles in a book form and get them across to girls who don’t have access to newspapers or the social media. The titles are borne out of my experience with the girls so far! And reading just one of these 3 books would go a long way in re-orientating any girl who reads and also open her eyes and spirit to the wonderful wonder she is!

What has been some of the lessons learnt working with young girls?

An average girl/lady isn’t aware of what she carries spiritually and would have enjoyed life better if only she knew! Many of them are lost and almost becoming mindless through no fault of theirs. There’s too much pressure on them starting from their impressionable years ranging from child sexual abuse to heartbreaks to lack of self-worth, economic hardship etc. and basically no proper guidance! They are very confused too and if they are not appropriately groomed on time, what was meant to be an institution could end up mere rubbles!

    What are the challenges?

Most of them are not in an enabling environment. After ministering to them or if they come across any of my articles and even have a conviction to follow the godly principles on the spot, if they don’t have parents intentionally raising them to prioritize their lives and be godly, they derail. The societal influence is overwhelming and too much for them to handle! You can also be sure their role model who they see the media glamourizing is likely to be one who brazenly engages in immorality and vices! Also, too many girls who live under poverty level don’t have access to the newspaper or smart phones and they really need these messages. Hence a reason I decided to publish these 3 books to be distributed to as many girls as possible for free!

How would you compare the experience when you started and now?

Awesome! I started on the pages of newspaper and was advised by readers to go on social media where the girls/youth are more likely to see my articles and it’s been so thrilling! I have too many daughters I may not even meet in my lifetime and the feedback and testimonies I get from them from time to time after reading and following the godly principles is wonderful and most encouraging! On Facebook as of today, I have over 53,000 followers asides 5,000 friends and this is sure to increase by God’s grace! Also, I organize at least 6 events in a year asides my ministrations in churches and institutions. It’s a whole lot of work- sometimes I actually work round the clock and can’t get enough sleep but I’m happy doing it!

How would describe the trends of bullying, violence and drug abuse that is prevalent amongst youths today?

I would say it’s a consequence of the moral decay in our society today arising from peer pressure, social media and poor involvement of family! I also strongly believe it could be because some of our leaders act with impunity so the average youth believes he can get away with almost anything!

What were the challenges you encountered during the lockdown last year and with the COVID-19 pandemic?

Too many ladies especially single mothers crying out for help to feed. This is one of the things I know girls can avoid as much as possible (becoming a single mother) although certain things are fated to happen to us in life! It was very disheartening hearing some of them say their kids hadn’t eaten for a day- even family men reached out for help and I did what I could! On the other hand, even though church wasn’t holding so there were no invitations to minister- my ministry went on online especially on Facebook.

What are some of the other things that occupy your time?

90% of my time and brain is centered on my ministry/teachings and there’s still so much to do and of course I have to deal with endless sessions of counseling with the girls! I rarely have time to do anything else!

Who or what do you consider as the greatest influence in your life?

The Holy Spirit, my late dad- Chief Taiwo Okeowo who raised me in godliness and excellence and always told me I was a special child and not a run-off-the-mill and the G.O. of Mountain of Fire & Miracles ministries- Dr. D.K. Olukoya whose ministrations rubbed off on me tremendously and made me discover my core mission on earth!

What advice do you have for young people for the New Year?

They shouldn’t give up! They should discover their innate gifts and potentials if they haven’t and then sit tight with God and get Him 100% on their side so He can make a way for those gifts to bring them the type of life and fulfilment they desire! We are told in the scriptures that a man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men!

If they leave their gifts and skills to time and chance without ensuring they have the power of God to fight for them, they may end up very frustrated as the world has become highly-competitive and a survival of the fittest! Their gifts might just be what would put food on their table and see them through life since employment isn’t sure!

How would you assess Nigerian youths today?

I empathize with the average Nigerian youth especially the less-privileged! These appear to be the hardest time for anyone to be a struggling youth. Too many factors frustrate their well being, stifles their progress and beautiful dreams! They tend to find solace in unproductive things which makes one think they’re mindless while they may not even be. Also you find a whole lot of them doing drugs and engaging in other vices. Unemployment and insecurity have driven a lot into the state of despair.  However, when given the right opportunities, wherewithal and resources, they could outshine their counterparts in other countries. We are naturally gifted and after so much pressure and with our creativity and sanity intact, there arises an uncommon giant in us and we can become anything and everything we want to be. I pray it shall be well with the Nigerian youth!

Tell us about the people you admire?

I fiercely admire pastors who emphasize more on holiness and the narrow way in their teachings than prosperity teachings after all, we are told to seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and all other things would follow!
