    Sources say no fanfare celebration as she has only invited her close friends and relatives to church where she would thank God.

    Top government officials and political stakeholders will be in attendance to share in her pot full of joy. Okotete is quite excited as it marks the beginning of a new journey in her life.

    For a nonagenarian, Chief (Mrs) Funke Arthur-Worrey, life has been good to her. Except she told you her age, it would be difficult to guess her age.

    When she marked her 95th birthday, many who had come to celebrate with her were marvelled at her agility and wittiness.

    On Tuesday, April 23, Chief Arthur-Worrey will be 97- years- old, and the philanthropist, like she does every year, will be hosting friends and family members in her Victoria Island residence.

    She is the widow of the late Lagos lawyer, Queen’s Counsel, Steady Arthur-Worrey.

    Funke Arthur-Worrey, popularly called Aunty Funke, was born into the Lagos royal family, of  Ogunmade Onile Gbale Chieftaincy House, Isale Eko. She was a sister to the late Chief H.O. Davies, a popular Lagos legal luminary.

    Many of her colleagues from the charity circle will be attending her 97th birthday.

    Aunty Funke belongs to several organisations. She was an Executive Member of the Nigerian Federation of Business and Professional Women. Past President of the International Women’s Society (IWS),  and Head of the Society’s Trustee. Aunty Funke was recently honoured with the prestigious IWS Veteran Award, with a  garden  named after her at the headquarters of the IWS, along Lekki-Epe Express Way, Lagos which is to be known as ‘Funke Arthur-Worrey’s Garden.’

    She was a Charter Member of and Past President of Ikeja Lioness Club now known as Ikeja Golden Lions Club. She is a Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest honour conferred by the International Association of Lions Clubs for commitment to philanthropic acts.

    She is also a recipient of many outstanding awards, including the District Governor’s Merit Award, the District President’s Award for Outstanding Service, and the President’s Meritorious Award.

    In her well-designed birthday invite, Aunty Funke wrote: “For His Goodness and Mercy, please rejoice with me and my family @ 97 23rd April, 2024.”

    At the induction, Emmanuelking and his beautiful wife were ordained by top Ogun State clergymen and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ogun State Chapter, under the leadership of Bishop (Dr.) Tunde Akin-Akinsanya, and his team, comprised of Rev Dr. O Oyeniyi, chairman CCN; Most Rev Dr. Peter Odetoyinbo Chairman CSN; Rev Dr. S.O Babayomi, Chairman ECWA/TEKAN; Pastor J K Onakoya (JP), Chairman CPFN/PFN; and Rev Leke Sopein, Chairman OAIC.

    Those who know the Adron Homes boss disclosed that he has always been an active Christian who takes CAN seriously.

    Those close to Emmanuelking noted that during his National Youth Service year in Bayelsa State, he was an active member of the Christian Youth Corps members in Bayelsa State during his National Youth Service year, where he held the position of State Coordinator for Nigeria Christian Corpers’ Fellowship (NCCF) Bayelsa State from 2000-2001.

    He also served as the President of the Youth Fellowship of Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel), Sagamu, from 2002-2004 and became the prayer squad coordinator for the Living Faith church from 2005-2007.

    Hence, his induction as the Otun Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Remo Land, the deputy to the former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Engr. Gbenga Daniel, who is the Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Remo Land, came as little or no surprise to those who know him.
