  • Adeboye to bless Ayewa @ 40 years on stage

GOSPEL band Ayewa International Gospel singers is 40 years and come May 7, 2017, the group will celebrate God’s goodness in their lives at the 10 Degrees event centre in Lagos.

Leading the pack of dignitaries at the event is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, who will be supported by some top gospel artistes such as Nathan Bassey, Ayan Jesu, Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria (GOMAN) President, Evangelist Funmi Aragbaye, Bola Are, Yinka Ayefele and Ologo Ara.

Also, two music greats – Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi and King Sunny Ade – will be in attendance.

The group began in 1976 at Christ Apostolic Church, Kawo, Kaduna State when Brother Amusa, as Pastor Adelakun was then called, enrolled in the church choir in 1974. He was then the composer for the church choir. The foundation members of the group which started with Pastor Ayewa are Brother Mike Olorunponmi, now Pastor, sister Elizabeth Sola Oludare now Evangelist, Mrs. Olorunponmi, Brother Roland, the first Organist, Mrs. Ebajemito and Brother Abbey now Pastor Abbey.

The group later met to choose a name for the band so as to avoid calling the group Brother Amusa and co. They eventually settled for Ayewa Gospel singers before it transited to Ayewa International Gospel Singers.

“The mystery of the international then did not come to my mind to mean the mission to the world but I believe it was the Holy Spirit speaking through us then,” Pastor Adelakun said.

“We did not even know that we will produce any album not to talk of going to any country abroad.”

Ayewa International Gospel Singers achieved fame for their ninth album, Amona tete Mabo.

“My family, churches were that channels through which we sold our albums then,” said Pastor Adelakun Ayewa.

“But when the fullness of time came, the group was brought out to shine by the divine instruction to repeat just an album. People of God especially the gospel musicians should learn from this.”

Adeboye canvasses private-public partnership for job creation

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has canvassed aggressive public- private partnership for job creation in the non-oil sector to tame the frightening youth unemployment.

He spoke at the special prayer and thanksgiving service for singles and those waiting on the Lord for children at the church’s RCCG National Headquarters, Throne of Grace Parish, Ebute-Metta in Lagos.

He said the issue of unemployment was becoming a hydra-headed monster all over the world.

The solution, according to him, lies in aggressive and transparent government–private partnership.

He said that governments cannot employ every employable citizen but should concentrate on creating the right environment for businesses to thrive.

‘’Government should create conducive environment for small and medium scale enterprise to thrive with provision of necessary facilities to sustain their growth,’’ Adeboye stressed.

He noted that government-private sector investment can bring about huge capital flow, improvement in national gross domestic products, massive job creation and injection of new technology for better quality infrastructure.

Adeboye, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Personnel and Administration, Pastor Johnson Odesola, also pointed out the need for government to plug all loopholes that drain scarce national resources and deploy them rapidly to infrastructure development.

The cleric said: “We should also mobilise the society to invest massively in producing what we eat even as we discipline ourselves to eat only what we produce.”

He argued that youths should understand that being graduates is not enough but must complement it with hand work for survival.

‘’The youth should learn to believe in themselves and make use of their families, friends and church network to start something small,’’ he said.

He charged parents to be involved more in their children’s social, academic, emotional and psychological make-up through open discussion, friendship.

Adeboye said that there will be no nation without families, pointing out that “those promoting homosexuality miss it because without families, those who are professing to be homosexuals will not be exist at all.”

Adeboye to those behind naira devaluation: you won’t live to enjoy your illicit gains

From the board rooms and seminar halls, the battle to strengthen the naira went spiritual yesterday. The Redeemed Christian Church of God Worldwide General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has declared that those responsible for the drastic loss in the Naira’s value will not live to enjoy their illicit gains.

The cleric was delivering a sermon at the special Sunday service organised by RCCG Region 11 (aka Ikoyi/Victoria Island family) at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos.

Pastor Adeboye said the message was a revelation he received from God early this year, but which he was sharing for the first time.

“Those who are deliberately destroying the Naira will make the money but will not spend it,” he said.

The Naira has drastically and dramatically nose-dived in value in recent months, exchanging at over N500 to the United States (U.S.) dollar before it began to appreciate lately.

Yesterday’s service was the first of its kind by Region 11, whose appellation was changed from “Ikoyi/Victoria Island Family” by Pastor Adeboye.

“On my way here this morning, while I was on the long bridge, God told me to change your name to Blessed Family,” he said.

Dwelling on the theme of the programme, which is “Enlarge”, Pastor Adeboye said it connotes the presence of the enlarger as well as the one to be enlarged.

“God is not interested in addition but in multiplication” he said, adding that God has pleasure in the prosperity of His people.

He enjoined the organisers to  take next year’s edition to the National Stadium because “God would have so much enlarged you that this venue would be too small for you”.

Pastor Adeboye  admonished the congregation to always do the will of God and be ready to pay the price for greatness.

Using his personal life as an example, Pastor Adeboye said his greatest desire was to become the youngest vice-chancellor in Africa but that God blessed him beyond his wildest imagination.

“I might not have become the youngest Vice-Chancellor, but today I have many vice-chancellors who call me ‘daddy’ and I have my own university,” he said.

“If you would be committed to the vision and mission of RCCG, you cannot die without commanding influence.

“There is a special influence and special anointing upon RCCG,” he added.

The Mother-in-Israel, Pastor  Folu Adeboye, described the programme as “the beginning of a new day” while appreciating those who grew the region from humble beginnings at Our Saviour’s School in the 1980s.

The service started with the Regional Pastor, Charles Kpandei, leading the congregation to sing the Blessed Family’s special song.

He paid tributes to his predecessor, Pastor  Oretayo Adetola, whom he described as the “matriarch” of the Blessed Family.

Dignitaries at  the special Sunday service include the RCCG National Overseer, the National Secretary (represented), National Treasurer, Elders Fola Aboaba, Felix Ohiwerei, Okey Mofunaya, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin and provincial pastors, among others.

  • Adeboye to Christians: make impact

    Adeboye to Christians: make impact

Christians have been urged to ensure their faith reflects in whatever they do as this will make Nigeria a better place  to live.

Speaking yesterday at the Power Conference organised by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 19 (aka First Born Family) at Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan , Lagos, the General Overseer Worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, said Christians should take the lead “so the world will know that they serve a living God”.

Pastor Adeboye, who spoke on the theme: ”Turning Point” with the text taken from Dan 4:34-37, said there were several types of turning points.

“There are upward movement or downward movement but as Christians our turning point is expected to be upward and to continually remain at the top.

“King Nebuchadnezzar experienced a double turning point. Initially, he was king and as a result of pride, he became an animal.

“But the day he acknowledged God as the Almighty, his throne was restored. He had a second turning point with God and he started climbing again.

“If you are going down, return to God but if you are up and you want to remain there, you must abide in Christ always,” he said.

Pastor Adeboye, therefore, pointed out that for Christians to make positive impact in the society, they need to partner God so that he can guide them.

    Book on Adeboye’s testimonies out

A new book, stories of Pastor E.A Adeboye, has been released to mark the 75th birthday of the General Overseer Worldwide of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

It tells the story of his amazing transformation from debilitating poverty into a powerful man of God revered by millions of people across the world.

The 350-page book written by ace author and journalist, Bisi Daniels, reads like an autobiography of Adeboye based on stories he has shared over the years.

Daniels, in a statement, said: “Pastor Adeboye is a great believer in the power of testimony. He is himself a living testimony of the power of God.

“His sermons always contain stories about how people have experienced the power of Jesus Christ in their lives.

“This book is a collection of those testimonies, which reads like his biography right from his birth in Ifewara in strange circumstances to the present moment.”

The book includes testimonies on RCCG, faith, salvation, miracles, marriage, fruit of the womb, temptation, unforgiveness and others.

Daniels feels  privileged and honoured “to work on this great book of a very great man of God; a rare person of our times, who so many people around the world are grateful to be alive to see at work for God.”

He added: “I have written many books but this is the most important and most impactful of them all, with the promise to touch lives of many people around the world.

“Sometimes I get the sense that I was specifically prepared by the circumstances of my life in the last nine years to write this particular book.”

Vice President Yemi Osibanjo wrote the foreword of the book, which he strongly recommends.

He wrote: “Most of Daddy’s ‘stories’ are indeed miracles, used to illustrate his sermons and show the power of God, rather than his own achievements.

“Having been a member of the church for many years and now a pastor, I have seen the efficacy of this style of preaching.

“Testimonies not only enhance the faith of others but also honour God. This book of some of the testimonies of one of the greatest servants of God in this generation is worth reading and learning from.”

  • Adeboye canvasses support for military personnel

General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called for more budgetary allocations to the armed forces to properly address insecurity challenges in the nation.

More budgetary allocations, according to him, will help to equip them better for the task of protecting the nation’s territorial sovereignty.

Adeboye spoke last Sunday at a special prayer and thanksgiving service for military and paramilitary officials and their families at the RCCG Throne of Grace, National Headquarters, Ebute-Meta, Lagos.

Some of the guests at the service included Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonisakin, Lagos State Sector Commandant of Federal Road Safety Corps, Hyginus Omeje, and Deputy Director, Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, Daniel Abe.

Adeboye stressed the needs for government to extend more funding to the military considering the insecurity challenges across the nation.

He said: “The military force deserves the supports, prayers, encouragement of all Nigerians and more funds to perform efficiently.”

He commended efforts of the military in tackling insurgency and other forms of militancy, saying they would do much more with better support and funds.

Adeboye, who spoke through the Assistant General Overseer Administration and Personnel of RCCG, Pastor Johnson Odesola, said: “Our military personnel are one of the best in the world.

They can develop locally made guns to fight, like we had during the civil war.

“They have the potential to do more and keep Nigeria secure and united if they are well supported.”

He, however, urged the military to be considerate and not take advantage of the insurgency challenges to make over bloated budgetary allocations.

He also challenged them to perform their duties as unto the Lord, stressing that whatever they do has great consequences for themselves, their families and the nation.

He assured them of the God’s divine protection, saying: “I want to urge military personnel to commit their lives to the Lord of hosts who is able to fight their own battle for them and they will not be disappointed.”

Abel, who was full of commendations for the service, said: “I strongly believe that the General Overseer of RCCG is seeing in the spirit that we need prayers more at this time.

“We are fighting to protect the land on every front but it is only God that can fight our own battles for us.”

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has said the Ecumenical Centre under construction will be inaugurated in May by the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, as part of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the state’s creation.

Speaking at a dinner organised for the General Overseer, Worldwide of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, by the Christ the Redeemer Friends International on Wednesday night in Port Harcourt, Wike noted that the peace and security that is currently being enjoyed in Rivers State shows clearly that God answers prayers.

Wike said the state will continue to work towards her partnership with churches to build on the successes recorded in terms of peace building.
