APC, Adeleke clash over alleged N1trillion state allocation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke clashed on Tuesday over calls for accountability regarding what the party claimed is nearly N1 trillion allocated to the state in three years.

APC State Chairman Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement, demanded that Governor Adeleke should justify the nearly N1 trillion revenue reportedly received by his administration from November 2022 to September 2025, describing the government as “unproductive.”

Lawal claimed, “Our findings show that the Adeleke government received N25 billion from November–December 2022; N182 billion in 2023; N333 billion in 2024; and N310 billion from January–September 2025, with little or nothing to show for it. In just three months, July–September 2025, the administration received a whopping N124 billion in federal allocations—an average of N41 billion per month (see Page 9 of the Osun State Budget Implementation Performance report published on October 28, 2025). Yet, Osun citizens are struggling under the harsh economic policies of the Adeleke government.”

He added that despite the large allocations, no youth of the state should be subjected to the hardships imposed by the administration.

APC further alleged, “It is incongruous that a governor who brands himself ‘Mr Project’ spent only 26 per cent of his 2025 revenue on capital projects, while failing to pay N6 billion in gratuity arrears due this year. On what, then, is the people’s money being spent?”

Governor Adeleke, however, dismissed the allegations.

The governor, through his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, described APC’s claims as “fake news” and insisted that his administration did not collect or squander N1 trillion in state allocations from 2022 to date.

Rasheed said, “The opposition statement is a devilish fabrication, a mischievous propaganda, and a failed attempt to undermine the commendable performance of the current administration, as attested by local and international stakeholders.”

“APC questioning how the governor spent a fabricated one trillion naira allocation to the state from 2022 to date is devilish. Only an anti-people party will claim not to see the almost 322 kilometers of roads across the state, the 200 health centre renovations, the rehabilitation of more than 100 schools, the ongoing dualisation across several towns, the ongoing upgrading and rehabilitation of several water works, the multibillion naira local and grassroots development projects, the flyover bridges, the new tractors, the ongoing renovation and upgrading of Osogbo stadium to a five star standard among others.

“Only a party set for another rejection in 2026 will deny the payment of half salaries owed workers and which the APC failed to pay while it governed the state. Pensioners are living witnesses of how state funds are being spent to offset pension debt which APC refused to pay and being liquidated by Governor Ademola Adeleke. The enrolment of over 30, 000 pensioners in the state health insurance scheme is an unprecedented policy which even the Federal Government has now adopted.”

Stop visiting nightclubs, wasting Osun resources — APC tells Adeleke

…opposition attempting to rubbish my brilliant performance —Adeleke

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Governor Ademola Adeleke for what it described as excessive involvement in social events at the expense of the welfare of residents.

Speaking on Tuesday, APC State Chairman Tajudeen Lawal accused Adeleke of using state resources to fund his social lifestyle rather than addressing pressing issues, including challenges facing state-owned tertiary institutions, the University of Ilesa and Osun State University (UNIOSUN), particularly arbitrary increases in school fees and accommodation charges.

“In UNIOSUN, students pay as high as N1.5 million in school fees and N600,000 for accommodation, and similar trends are occurring in UNILESAs,” Lawal stated. “Instead of focusing on these critical issues, Adeleke has been visiting nightclubs and dancing from one state capital to another, wasting resources that should support education and other vital sectors. Over the weekend in Ibadan, his dancing at a music concert drew widespread ridicule, a classic case of Nero fiddling while Rome burned.”

Responding, Governor Adeleke dismissed the APC’s claims as baseless.

Through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, he stated, “I have judiciously managed state resources to meet critical needs in health, infrastructure, education, business financing, cooperative empowerment, sports, agriculture, technology, workers’ welfare, and pension management. The opposition’s statement is mischievous propaganda and a failed attempt to tarnish the achievements of this administration, as acknowledged by local and international stakeholders.”

APC, Adeleke trade words over governor’s alleged plan to join ADC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke are at loggerheads over an alleged plan of the governor to join African Democratic Congress (ADC), amid the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national leadership crisis.

APC through its state Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement yesterday alleged that Adeleke was hobnobbing with the leadership of ADC ahead of the 2026 governorship primary election of the party.

He described the alleged plan of Adeleke as desperate, saying: “Such desperation to secure a second term ticket amounts to Adeleke going back to swallow his vomit, given his recent verbal attack on Aregbesola.”

The APC state chairman said: “Adeleke began the move after his plot to join our party failed in previous months due to poor public rating, which eroded public confidence in the progressive brand the party had built over the years.

“No one would have envisaged that Adeleke would one day contemplate having a political rapprochement with Aregbesola he called unprintable names just four months ago. It is strange that Adeleke now sees Aregbesola as his political messiah without whom his second term ambition is in danger.”

Governor Adeleke, through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, denied the alleged plan of joining ADC, describing it as false. “The entire assertions by the opposition are mere fabrication and fake news.”

He said: “Governor Adeleke is not negotiating with former Governor Aregbesola about ADC and the governor is not joining ADC. The public are hereby implored to ignore the fake news from the pit of hell.”

    • Monarch denies involvement

The Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA) has petitioned the Osun State Government, Ademola Adeleke, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), to launch an independent investigation into alleged violence, displacement, and illegal land transactions causing unrest in Wakajaye community in Osun State.

In the separate petitions, signed by the Executive Director of HURMA, Comrade Buna Olaitan, the civil society organisation accused the traditional ruler of the community, Olu of Wakajaye, Oba Titus Adeleke, of human rights abuses, and acts tantamount to crimes against an elderly blind farmer, Mr. Gabriel Amusan, who was violently displaced from his ancestral land and residence.

But in a swift response, the monarch denied any involvement in the case. While speaking to The Nation, though he confirmed knowing the family and the land in question, he denied collaborating with an individual or thugs to torment the family.

HURMA noted that this act was allegedly perpetrated by the monarch through coordinated attacks carried out by his accomplices, in collaboration with other individuals.

“We went through his forms, his nomination forms and we also noticed that he was nominated by very highly placed people as well as ordinary people in Osun communities.

“This just shows that he is very well accepted all around the party. We went through other credentials besides academic ones that he had submitted and everything was very, very satisfactory to us.

“When he came in, we asked him a few questions and all his answers matched what he had submitted,’’ Adepoju said.

Adepoju who said that the committee was still expecting more aspirants to appear before it, added that the committee report would be submitted to the party at the conclusion of the entire exercise.(NAN)

Why I am investing in infrastructural dev’t – Adeleke

Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun says he is investing in infrastructural development across the state to fastrack economic development.

Adeleke said this while inspecting the Lagere flyover and other projects on Wednesday in Ile-Ife.

The governor said he believed that improved infrastructure would fast track economic development, hence, the various infrastructural development in the state.

Adeleke, who decried the neglect of Ile-Ife and abandonment of several projects by the previous administration, said the cultural capital of Yoruba people deserved the best roads and other infrastructures.

According to the governor, the flyover is strategically located at an economic nerve center of Osun East, connecting Osun West, Ijesahland and Ondo State through Garage Olode.

“An economic hub is being created through this iconic flyover bridge.

“Aside from the making of an economic hub, our administration is conscious of the tourism potentials and importance of Ile Ife to millions of Yoruba people at home and in the diaspora.

“In our creative economy agenda, Ile-Ife occupies a prime place.

” The cradle of Yoruba nation thus deserves mass infra upgrade to support our vision of a cultural capital drawing multi billion dollar tourism opportunities in the near future”, he said.

Adeleke, however, threatened to terminate any non-performing contractor handling various infrastructural projects in the state.

“I task them to show commitment to delivering on the awarded contracts. I expect those contractors to maintain presence and ensure memorability of the roads while the contract lasts.

“Our administration will not hesitate to terminate any non- performing contracts.

“Our people expect so much from the administration and we would not allow slack in the implementation process.

“I task the officials of the ministry of Works to strengthen their monitoring of ongoing projects.

“The public should be regularly updated on the state of each project. Project implementation reports should henceforth be issued on a monthly basis”, he said.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday clashed over fleeing Osun Amotekun Commandant, Isaac Omoyele, amid alleged killings of Akinlalu community residents by his corps.
