The two meetings, Basiru said, are convened in accordance with Articles 12.5 and 12.3 of the party’s constitution.

Both meetings will be held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

…as Waive calls for massive voter mobilisation

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District have pledged unalloyed loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, with leaders stressing unity, discipline, and renewed mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

They made the pledge during a high-level meeting held on Sunday at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, Uvwie Council area, where senior government officials, party executives, grassroots mobilisers, and other stakeholders convened to deliberate on strengthening the party’s internal cohesion and political readiness.

Moving the motion, which was seconded by Chief Andrew Oru, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Keyamo, SAN, praised President Tinubu for improving national security and stabilising the economy.

According to him, “Nigeria is beginning to record improved security across various regions,” attributing the progress to the President’s renewed commitment to confronting insecurity.

Keyamo also commended Governor Oborevwori for his unparalleled infrastructural development across Delta State, urging party members to maintain discipline as APC congresses draw near.

He warned aspirants that no one would “secure the party’s ticket from Abuja” without the backing of grassroots leaders.

On his part, the State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, described the district’s political shift from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC as strategic, urging members to embrace genuine grassroots mobilisation and remain resilient ahead of political challenges.

Chairman of the Delta Central APC, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, cautioned against factionalism, insisting that the party must operate under a single leadership structure.

“Delta State APC has only one leader, and that leader is His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State. This is not up for debate. Any loyalty outside this structure is unacceptable,” he declared.

He announced reforms, including mandatory monthly senatorial meetings and the establishment of a Delta Central APC Caucus Committee to drive strategic planning, conflict resolution, mobilisation, and performance monitoring.

Meanwhile, the Member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Francis Waive, has raised alarm over the drastic decline in voter numbers in Delta Central, warning that the trend threatens the region’s political relevance.

Waive, who is Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, lamented that Delta Central once contributed about 60 percent of total votes in Delta State when the state was created in 1991, a figure he said has dropped to about 30 percent without any war, disaster or pandemic to justify such a decline.

The visibly concerned lawmaker said some LGAs that previously produced over 50,000 votes now struggle with drastically lower figures, warning that “something is going wrong.”

He urged political leaders to aggressively mobilise eligible voters in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter registration exercise, emphasising that every adult aged 18 and above must be encouraged to register, including indigenes living outside the state.

Waive further warned that inaction could leave future generations describing today’s leaders in Urhobo land as “political eunuchs”, a label he insisted must be avoided.

He stressed that voter numbers directly determine political strength, adding: “Even if you want to rig an election, you can only rig to the extent of the number of registered voters you have.”

Other speakers, including Senator Ede Dafinone, NEXIM Bank Executive Director Stella Okotete, Chief Solomon Igrakpata, and Chief Andrew Oru, echoed the call for unity, discipline, and mobilisation.

Local Government APC chairmen present at the meeting unanimously pledged to deliver maximum votes for President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, and all APC candidates in 2027.

Ekiti APC begins e-registration, mobilises support for Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has commenced its digital membership e-registration exercise as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structure.

Speaking during the flag-off of the Train-the-Trainers session in Ado Ekiti, the APC State Chairman Sola Elesin said that the e-registration would not only modernise the party’s membership register but also mobilise broader support for President Tinubu’s policies.

He noted that the digital registration was central to rebuilding the party’s support base and ensuring data accuracy for strategic planning.

Elesin noted that the outcome of the last presidential election in Nigeria, propelled the broom party to come up with the programme.

Elesin said: “Prior to the election, we believed we would have 50 million party members who would vote for our president in the election, but the result was released, we had  just over 11 million votes for Mr. President.  This shows that even our party members failed to vote going by the data.

“Since that time, we have been looking for a way to have accurate data about actual number of the members of the party that is the essence of continued digital membership process.  We believe we will have accurate data for whatever we want to organize in the party and to forge ahead.

The State Coordinator of the APC e-registration, Hon. Gold Adesola Adedayo noted that the programme was designed to shore up the party’s membership.

The former Commissioner for Youths in Ekiti State explained that the party decided to do the e-registration to  digitalize the initial  record of the party members.

Adedayo, who is now a commissioner-designate, said, “It is primarily for digitalizing party membership register. It is to give accountability, transparency and of course to enhance service delivery from our party and when we no know our exact figure, then the dividends of democracy will not be difficult to spread to all.

“This is the reason behind this program. We all know that we have a register before now, and we have all registered from  our units to the  wards, the state  and even the federal.

“But the different now ,is that it will be digitalized and we will all have access to it from our phones, in our homes, we can check our membership of the party.  It will also give  us  the opportunity of authenticating the actual numbers of the party members in the state . There will no longer be contradicting figure on membership of the party.

“We are expecting all our members across the 177 wards in the state to register. I know that Ekiti people are for APC and so I am looking at about 70 to 80 percent of the population of Ekiti to turn out in their  large number to register as APC card-carrying members”.

Specifically, they resolved to  “strengthen community security, intelligence gathering and support for victims of violence.”

The meeting comes on the heels of last month’s meeting of southern governors in Abeokuta which called for the establishment of state police as part of the efforts to boost security across the country.

In the last few weeks, President Tinubu has appointed a new Minister of Defence,a new Chief of Defence Staff, and new service  chiefs for the army, navy and air force.

He also ordered the withdrawal of police escorts from Very Important Personalities (VIPs) and the deployment of such officers for core duties across the country, in addition to the recruitment of more hands for the police and the armed forces.

Besides its supports for the president on security, the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) also  reaffirmed its commitment  to the  Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu Administration.

Chairman of the forum and Governor of Imo, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, said the meeting provided a platform for the governors to review the nation’s political, economic and social direction, deepen coordination and strengthen collective action.

“We met to assess where the nation stands, align our priorities, and reinforce our shared responsibility to the Nigerian people.

“Our commitment to the Renewed Hope vision remains unwavering,” Uzodinma said.

The chairman said that the governors agreed that every reform of the current administration must have a direct and positive impact on Nigerians.

“Reforms must improve lives, protect dignity and expand opportunities for all, whether in rural or urban areas, young or old, men or women,” he added.

On infrastructure, he praised Lagos State for  innovations in transport and urban renewal.

“Lagos continues to show leadership in modern infrastructure delivery.

“We agreed to deepen peer learning and expand investments in roads, housing, public transport, water, digital connectivity and climate-resilient structures,” he said.

Uzodinma said that the governors also reviewed Nigeria’s security situation, commending improved coordination across security agencies and community volunteers.

“Safety of lives and property is non-negotiable, Uzodinma said.

He urged leaders at all levels to promote unity, moderation and respect, warning against hate speech and divisive tendencies.

“Social cohesion is essential. We must all use our voices to promote peace, not division,” he said.

He said that the forum emphasised the importance of effective local government administration in realising the Renewed Hope Agenda at the grassroots.

“We are committed to improving transparency, accountability and service delivery in local governments,” the chairman added.

He said that the governors would expand citizen-engagement platforms such as town halls and consultations with traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society, labour and professional groups.

“Listening to the people and adjusting based on feedback are key to building trust,” he said.

Lagos State  Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, host of the meeting commended his colleagues  for their commitment to national development.

Sanwo-Olu described their deliberations as a reaffirmation of loyalty to APC and commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said he was grateful that all governors created time to participate fully in the meeting, adding that the depth of discussions reflected their dedication to strengthening governance.

He commended the governors for  dedication to improving the welfare of Nigerians.

“For the past 12 hours, we have asked ourselves  tough questions: How do we better the lives of our people?

“How do we support our president and strengthen our country by supporting national agenda?”

The governor applauded the increasing number of APC governors, crediting it to the forum’s leadership under Gov. Hope Uzodinma.

“We are now 25 progressive governors.

“When we began, we were barely 18 or 19. This growth shows that Nigerians trust our party’s direction,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu announced that Lagos would host its first cultural festival in nearly a decade, on Dec. 27, promising an event that would showcase the state’s heritage.

“This year, about 10,000 of our people will proudly wear the festival uniform.

He reminded the new officers that they were now full stakeholders in safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and must be guided at all times by the principle that “Nigeria must come first” in every action and decision throughout their careers.

Many of the officers, he noted, would soon be deployed to operational theatres where their courage, discipline and training would be tested. He urged them to fall back on the knowledge, skills and values instilled in them while remaining focused and adaptable.

APC invites Rivers chair over alleged removal

The National Legal Adviser  of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has invited embattled Cross River chairman of the party, Alphonsus Ogar Eba..

The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the party passed a vote of no confidence on the chairman, leading to his alleged removal.

The APC National Legal Adviser, Murtala Aliyu Kankia, in a letter dated December 4, 2025, invited Eba to appear before the national leadership on Monday, December 8, to respond to the vote of no confidence.

The NWC said the meeting would enable it to hear directly from the chairman and ensure that due process is followed.

The invite came amid growing factional tension after a majority of SEC members reportedly claimed that “The System” no longer wanted Eba and announced his removal, an action Eba dismissed as illegal and “a joke taken too far.”

The embattled chairman last month rejected similar calls for his resignation by the Forum of Chapter Chairmen and Secretaries, who accused him of high-handedness, diversion of party funds, and failure to remit stipends to ward and chapter officers.

Eba fired back, accusing the same officials of financial misconduct involving more than N60m.

He said the party had adopted a direct payment method to curb diversion of funds and ensure that stipends went into the accounts of the 5,778 ward and chapter officials statewide.

He added that some chapter chairmen allegedly receive millions monthly from political appointees and withhold funds released by the government for party administration at the local level.

According to him, no chapter chairman has the constitutional authority to demand the resignation of a state chairman, insisting that disciplinary powers over him lie with the South-South Zonal Executive Committee as provided by Article 21(3)(vi)(d) of the APC constitution.

The move by the NWC is seen as an attempt to halt the escalating crisis ahead of the 2027 general elections.

With the national leadership now stepping in, party stakeholders are hoping for a truce as efforts intensify to restore calm and reposition the Cross River APC.

Insecurity: Tinubu needs our prayers to end banditry, says APC chieftain

A stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Olabode Omoyele, has called on Nigerians to pray and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his administration intensifies efforts to curb the rising cases of banditry, kidnapping and other security challenges bedevilling the country.

Omoyele said President Tinubu had shown enormous commitment through various security reforms but stressed that the battle against violent crimes required both governmental action and collective spiritual support.

He made the appeal on Wednesday at the empowerment organised for the residents of the 13 wards at Okitipupa in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.

The APC chieftain expressed optimism that the insecurity bedevilling the country would soon be surmounted following the ongoing efforts of President Tinubu-led administration at tackling the escalating activities of the bandits ravaging the Northeast and Northcentral.

“At this moment in our country, Mr President (Tinubu) deserves our support and prayers as he is making efforts to end the ongoing insecurity challenges in some parts of the country.

“I will also urge our people to be security-conscious in their environments. Security matter should be a business of everyone, and I believe very soon this challenging time will be over,” Omoyele said.

He observed that insecurity remained a nationwide issue that could not be resolved overnight, stressing that the government of President Tinubu had continued to invest in modern equipment, recruit more security personnel and restructure command systems to strengthen intelligence gathering and rapid response.

praising the President for his various reforms at addressing the nation’s economic challenges, Omoyele asked Nigerians to be very vigilant in the environment.

He explained that the empowerment initiative, with the disbursement of items worth N100 million to the beneficiaries was born out of his utmost passion for community development and desire to create meaningful impact in the lives of people across Okitipupa Local Government Area.

Omoyele, who is also the founder of Olabode Humanitarian Foundation, added that the empowerment initiative was a strategic move to support the good work and laudable performance of President Tinubu and the Minister for Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced on Thursday during a meeting of the party’s State Executive Committee (SEC), chaired by Ade Adetimehin, in Akure, the state capital.

The decision followed a motion moved by the State Central Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Festus Aregbesola, and seconded by the APC Chairman in Ose Local Government, Chief Victor Tenabe.

Adetimehin said the SEC carefully reviewed Tinubu’s economic reforms and expressed satisfaction with the administration’s efforts in stabilising the country, especially in tackling security challenges.

“The chapter further charged its members to commit sincerely to the Renewed Hope Agenda project of President Bola Tinubu so that the state could deliver the highest percentage of votes during the election,” he said.

He recalled that Ondo, also known as the Sunshine State, delivered one of the highest voting percentages for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket in the 2023 elections.

Adetimehin added that the APC remains the dominant political party in the state, with several members of opposition parties defecting to the ruling party due to the performances of President Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

According to the statement, the SEC meeting – also presided over by Adetimehin – deliberated extensively on the need for secure and permanent membership records.

“Adetimehin explained that the exercise would provide both the National and State offices the opportunity to obtain accurate and authentic membership records,” the statement read.

Party leaders at the local government and ward levels were urged to give the exercise top priority.

The SEC also resolved that 18 resource persons – one from each local government – would be trained to coordinate the process and further train ward-level officials.

The digital registration is expected to commence with the enrolment of the state governor and leader of the party, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

A committee led by the State Organising Secretary, Hon. Charles Fagbohunka, has been constituted to ensure speedy and hitch-free implementation of the exercise.
