2027: Why coalition against APC may not succeed, by ex-ACF scribe

A former Secretary General of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Anthony Sani, has described the current coalition efforts against the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections as weak and lacking a solid foundation.

Speaking with The Nation, Sani said while a coalition could serve as a viable political alternative, those spearheading the present movement appear to be on a path to failure.

According to him, their efforts are not anchored on any credible or established political platform.

He said, “While I agree that democracy without viable opposition is a sham, I have no faith in how the opposition is organizing themselves for performance.

“A coalition would be a viable alternative platform only if it is effected at level of political parties which should come together and merge into one political party reminiscent of the emergence of APC whereby political parties and factions of political parties came together and formed APC which was strong enough to unseat incumbent government.

“What is more, Mohammadu Buhari brought his vast electoral value that come with charisma and mass appeal to serve as rally point. In the current attempt, the efforts are at individual level without political parties.

“In the history of multiparty democracy in Nigeria, mere party alliances have never come near to winning any elections let alone individual alliances. What is more, in the current arrangement there is no rallying point like Buhari.

“I therefore do not see any sturdy traction by the current coalition unless they change the strategy.”

PDP, APC clash over one-party claim

The one-party rule issue came to the fore again yesterday, leading to a clash between the opposition Peoples Democratic Party and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a communiqué issued after its 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, the PDP accused the APC of plotting a ‘one-party totalitarian rule’.

The party spoke against the backdrop of the mass defection from its fold into the APC.

Governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and other elected officials have deserted the opposition party, which is itself in turmoil.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who spoke at the APC’s summit on Thursday, dismissed the one-party fear.

That did not stop the PDP from reaffirming the claim.

Yesterday, the APC responded, saying the PDP was hallucinating.

Party spokesman Felix Morka said opposition parties are living with the fear of the harmless.

Morka said: “The communique of the PDP NEC is nothing but a piece of tranquillising lullaby meant to calm the frailed nerves of members of a pathetic and self-defeating party.

“Rather than concentrate its scant energies in search of solutions to its internecine strife, PDP’s NEC chose, instead, to delude itself by blaming the APC for its woes, including its thinning membership.”

Morka, who said the ruling party would not want to join words with the opposition, assured Nigerians that President Tinubu remains focused on building a prosperous Nigeria.

In the 10-point communiqué, the PDP heaped the blame for the ‘economic woes of the country’ on the Federal Government.

It called on the government to rescind its policies, which it claimed had made Nigerians poorer.

It added that the government had failed to prevent insecurity and kidnapping.

The NEC, presided over by Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, ratified the composition of the Zoning Committee, led by Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, and the National Convention Panel chaired by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

Other members of the Zoning Committee are Governor Dauda Lawal (Zamfara, Vice Chairman) and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau, Secretary).

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is Vice Chairman of the Convention Committee, and his Enugu counterpart, Peter Mbah, is Secretary.

Damagum said: “NEC resolved to consider the resolution of the Southeast Zonal Executive at the next NEC meeting scheduled to be held on June 30 in respect of the position of national secretary.”

The Southeast caucus is pushing for Sunday Ude-Okoye in place of Samuel Anyanwu.

The NEC also fixed the convention for August 28 to 30.

The meeting was held at the party’s national secretariat at Wadata Plaza, temporarily shut on Monday by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) over non-payment of ground rent for many years.

But the property and others in the same situation got a reprieve of two weeks granted by the President to fulfil their obligation.

Also at the meeting were Governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), who is PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman; Agbu Kefas (Taraba), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and BoT members – former Senate President Adolphus Wabara,  Chief Olabode George, Chief Tom Ikimi, and Senator Ben Obi.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umoh Eno were absent.

    ‘Those who left will return’

Mohammed said the governors had resolved to stand by the platform and halt the gale of defections.

The Bauchi Governor said: “Our members are standing strong and resolute. There is no intimidation that we are not going through. There is no caressing or cajoling that members and elected governors are not going through if you ask anyone of them. But certainly, we are resolute. We will not abandon the mandate.

“That is why you can see us here together. Yes, we wish well for those who have left. But we believe this is not the first time people left PDP and came back. I’m sure they will come back.

“The governors are united. We are ready to work. No amount of intimidation or exclusion by the Federal  Government will make us give in. And we are ready to tolerate and swallow all the melancholy, all the abuses that we will get.”

Lauding the NEC members for their patience, he added: “This 99th NEC is to us a triumph of democracy, a triumph of good governance about the evil that we are experiencing in this country.”

Wabara described the PDP as the most credible platform for national transformation, adding that its future is bright.

He said: “We must be honest with ourselves. There is still much work to do. Divisions, mistrusts, and lingering grievances within our ranks have at times hampered our progress and blurred our vision.

“As the party of the people, we must recommit to healing these wounds and restoring faith among our members.

“As chairman of the Board of Trustees, the conscience of the party, I call on all of us leaders, elders, youths, and stakeholders to embrace reconciliation, not just as a political tactic, but as a moral imperative. We must open our hearts to forgive, to dialogue, and to debate.”

Party leadership, not Wike, to blame, says Suswam

Former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam berated the PDP leadership for the protracted crisis.

Suswam, who spoke on television, faulted leadership for holding secret meetings with Wike without the knowledge of major stakeholders.

He said: “The lack of leadership in the PDP is at the root of the crisis within the party.

“According to the FCT Minister, there was a meeting in Lagos.  He was invited and had an agreement in Lagos. There was another meeting in Abuja in the house of a former Senate President, where those agreements were consolidated.

“If you are sincere with the people, when we were called by former and current governors for a meeting about two weeks ago, none of these issues were before us.

“Nobody knew that there was a secret meeting where the agreement was reached with the FCT minister.

“If you engage someone in an agreement, it is only honourable to keep that agreement. If you are not interested, why give false hope in the first place?”

Suswam added: “I don’t blame Wike. It is a lack of capacity of the leadership of the PDP, and the leadership has not been straight with party followers.

“We are stakeholders. If we are called to a meeting by the current governors, under the leadership of Bala Mohammed, and we are not aware of secret meetings held earlier with Wike and the agreements, it means that we were hoodwinked, and I think that is not right.

“There was no need to make an agreement with Wike at the expense of other people.”

    George chides Wike

George condemned the sealing of the party’s national secretariat by the FCT administration, describing the action as a betrayal by Wike.

He expressed disappointment that Wike, a long-time beneficiary of the PDP, would allow such an act to take place under his watch.

George, who spoke on television,  said: “I was shell-shocked. He is my political son. He rose through the ranks on the platform of this party—from local government chairman to governor, minister (state education), and now FCT minister.

“You don’t go to your village, become the local government chairman, and the first thing you do is lock up your father’s house because he owes the village dues. That is betrayal.”

He added: “They waited until the very day we had to hold our NEC meeting to seal our office. He should have just paid it and brought the receipt to us. That is what a true and loyal son of the house would do.”

According to the FCTA, the owner of the PDP secretariat building, Senator Samaila Mamman Kofi, owes ground rent for over 28 years.

Why I won’t attend NEC, by Lamido

Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido insisted that he would not participate in PDP activities unless Wike and former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom were expelled.

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs, who was absent at the NEC meeting, also frowned at the claim by Anyanwu, the embattled National Secretary, whom he said had been rejected by the Zonal Executive Committee.

Though Wike and Anyanwu were not at the NEC meeting, the newly inaugurated Board of Trustees (BoT) member, Samuel Ortom, was in attendance at yesterday’s meeting.

Decked in his Tiv traditional cap and a white kaftan, the immediate past Benue State governor came into Legacy House in the company of the PDP Governors Forum Chairman and Bauchi State Governor.

Lamido, who is also a member of the PDP BoT, told reporters in Abuja that the Minister and the former governor should be expelled for anti-party activities and for working against its interest in the 2023 general elections.

The former Jigawa governor berated the FCT minister for his apathy to peace.

He said: “Here is someone who was honoured by the PDP, brought into relevance by the PDP, and now turns around to fight the very party that made him. Wike is, quite frankly, a disaster. “What he has done is un-African and un-Nigerian.

“I don’t understand how someone, simply because of his own ambition, can take things so personally and act so destructively. There used to be a party culture that prioritised collective good, something altruistic, but that seems lost now.

“To seal the PDP secretariat — a party that produced you, nurtured you — no matter your grievances, no matter your bitterness, it’s like destroying your own home. He claims he financed the party.

“But is it wrong for a son to take care of his own mother? Does it now mean the mother must submit to the son and take orders from him simply because he’s providing her clothing?

“Wike is thinking in a very warped way. He lacks the values and traditions that define our political culture. I’m glad, however, that President Tinubu intervened.

“The office was reopened by his order. The very man Wike is trying to please by destroying his own political family is the one saying, ‘No, you can’t do that.’”

Lamidu also faulted Ortom, whom he accused of publicly endorsing the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, at the expense of the PDP candidate.

He said: “Look at the BOT. People like Ortom, who declared support for Peter Obi in 2023, are still members. That’s why I’ve said I will not attend any PDP meeting unless Wike is expelled and people like Ortom are removed from the BOT.

“I remain a PDP member, but I will not participate in party functions or answer calls to meetings while these individuals remain in leadership.

“How can I sit with someone like Ortom in the BOT to discuss the future of PDP? Or someone who is rejected in his own zone and is now being imposed by another zone? These are impostors.”

Lamenting the lack of discipline in PDP, Lamido said: “During our time, the party was supreme. It held full authority, and everyone respected it, whether in the North, South, East, or West. Anyone, no matter how influential, who crossed the party line would be sanctioned.

“Today, people openly working against the PDP are still being tolerated. “Someone like Wike, who claims to love the PDP but is clearly undermining it, should be expelled by the NWC. Why hasn’t that happened?”

Delta APC chieftain raises concerns over early endorsements

…calls for equity and internal dialogue

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Professor Rukevwe Akpedeye-Ugwumba, has expressed strong reservations about the recent endorsements of Senator Ede Dafinone and Hon. Francis Waive for the 2027 elections by the U3 Forum, urging party stakeholders to consider issues of equity, inclusion, and internal justice.

Professor Akpedeye-Ugwumba, a former House of Representatives aspirant and a long-standing advocate for grassroots political fairness, described the endorsements as hasty and potentially disruptive to the party’s zoning arrangements and internal cohesion.

She argued that such decisions should emerge from broad-based consensus rather than endorsements by groups she referred to as “new entrants” to the party fold.

The U3 Forum, a political bloc composed largely of former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who have since joined the APC, had publicly thrown its support behind the two lawmakers in anticipation of the 2027 elections.

However, Akpedeye-Ugwumba questioned both the source and timing of the endorsements, citing the need for reflection on the party’s core values and collective vision.

“This endorsement process appears to exclude long-standing and loyal members of the APC who have worked tirelessly over the years to build the party’s strength in Delta Central. Such moves risk creating tension within the ranks and could undermine the inclusive spirit we need as we move forward”, she said.

Akpedeye-Ugwumba, who currently serves as a professor of family medicine in Canada and previously held the position of Special Adviser on Health to former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, noted that APC’s internal democracy must remain anchored on equity and rotation among the various constituencies.

Citing representation history within the Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency, she observed that by 2027, Ughelli South would have occupied the House of Representatives seat for 16 years, compared to Ughelli North’s 8 years and Udu’s 4 years. She emphasized that fairness demands attention to such disparities.

“Our party constitution, particularly Article 20(vi), supports geopolitical balancing in elective positions. We cannot afford to overlook the principle of rotational representation if we want to maintain unity and earn the trust of all communities involved”, she said.

On the senatorial race, she raised concerns over the potential renomination of Senator Dafinone, who hails from the same federal constituency as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

She argued that allowing both the governorship and senatorial seats to remain concentrated in the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie axis would diminish broader Urhobo representation within the Delta Central Senatorial District, which is made up of 27 kingdoms.

“It’s essential that all parts of Delta Central feel adequately represented. Zoning ensures that power circulates fairly and helps to foster a sense of inclusion and belonging within the party and the region”, she stated.

Akpedeye-Ugwumba also referenced the political precedent set by Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, who voluntarily stepped aside in 2023 to allow for a smooth zoning arrangement.

She urged current officeholders to emulate such examples in order to maintain harmony and avoid political friction.

While calling on party stakeholders in Udu, Ughelli North, and Ethiope to engage actively in the party’s pre-election deliberations, she emphasized the importance of encouraging new aspirants and fresh voices.

“A vibrant democracy thrives on inclusion and renewal. It’s time we give others a chance to lead,” she said.

Akpedeye-Ugwumba, the only female aspirant from Ughelli North to have contested the House of Representatives seat under the APC in 2019, has long championed political equity and inclusivity in Delta State politics.

Her comments come at a time when the APC is preparing for its next electoral cycle and reflect broader concerns about candidate selection processes and internal power dynamics.

Though her tone was firm, the professor’s message largely called for reflection, dialogue, and renewed commitment to the party’s foundational values.

Her intervention is expected to prompt serious discussions among Delta APC stakeholders as they navigate a politically sensitive pre-2027 landscape.

  • A mandate of trust: Tinubu’s leadership reaffirmed at APC summit

A mandate of trust: Tinubu’s leadership reaffirmed at APC summit

    By Muhammad Garba

The Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, recently played host to a historic national gathering as the All Progressives Congress (APC) convened a high-level summit which was more than a celebration of accomplishments but was a deliberate platform for reflection, evaluation, and strategic alignment for the future of Nigeria under the APC-led administration.

The summit, beyond its rich discussions, also witnessed a historic political moment-the unanimous endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by party stakeholders as the APC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Coming at a critical time in the life of the ruling party and the nation, the summit brought together a rich convergence of political leadership, youth and women groups, and party loyalists under one roof to chart a transformative path for inclusive governance and sustained national development.

The summit witnessed the presence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; Senate President Godswill Akpabio and his Deputy, Senator Barau Jibrin; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, and members of the National and State Assemblies, the Progressives governors, ministers, former governors and deputies, former national leaders, youth and women groups and grassroots mobilisers.

The event, themed “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far,” was both reflective and aspirational, marking a significant milestone in the present administration’s efforts to redefine governance, reinvigorate national confidence, and project a clear direction for Nigeria’s transformation.

The summit served as a critical checkpoint in the national policy trajectory since the inception of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration. With the Renewed Hope Agenda as its ideological compass, the event focused on assessing the accomplishments, challenges, and prospects of various sectors under the current government. It was not a typical political gathering; it was a sober, high-level national dialogue convened at the very heart of power, signaling the seriousness of purpose and commitment to open governance.

The summit was masterfully organized under the leadership of the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, whose vision and political acumen were evident throughout the process. Alongside the National Working Committee (NWC), Ganduje demonstrated deep organizational insight and strategic clarity, ensuring that the summit was not only successful in logistics but transformative in substance. The APC, under his stewardship, is evolving into a national institution driven by performance, policy, and grassroots connection.

Dr. Ganduje brought his hallmark style of inclusion and grassroots mobilization to the fore. His remarks at the summit were direct and visionary; emphasizing that the Renewed Hope Agenda is a comprehensive response to Nigeria’s longstanding governance challenges, and that the APC is determined to lead that transformation with measurable results.

The chairman and his team have also been instrumental in party reforms that are vital to sustaining the Renewed Hope Agenda. One of their key interventions has been the digitization of party membership, enabling greater transparency and participation. The new National Digital Membership Register, is a project aimed at democratizing access to party processes and deepening internal accountability. By doing so, the APC is signaling its transition from a purely electoral platform to a policy-driven national institution.

The summit reviewed sectoral achievements of the administration with a keen eye for data and outcomes. Economic indicators showed the early signs of stabilization, while social investment programmes such as the Student Loan Scheme and the Conditional Cash Transfer System were praised for cushioning vulnerable Nigerians. Infrastructure development, especially the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and major expressway upgrades, as well as ongoing railway expansion, was highlighted as evidence of commitment to inclusive growth.

The administration’s efforts in the energy and power sector, including gas utilization, solar deployment, and power grid enhancement, received commendation. Security reforms, including the restructuring of command architecture, improvement in personnel welfare, and acquisition of new assets, were noted as yielding results in previously volatile regions. The renewed push for community-based policing and intelligence gathering was seen as a welcome shift in security strategy. Though challenges remain, stakeholders acknowledged visible progress in the North-East, reduction in attacks on critical infrastructure, and increased community engagement in intelligence gathering.

The highlight of the summit was the unanimous endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the APC’s candidate for the 2027 general elections-a move many credit to Ganduje’s political dexterity.

With the support of the party leadership, the National Assembly, the Progressives Governors’ Forum, and other stakeholders, Ganduje led the call for continuity under Tinubu. The endorsement formalizes the President’s position as the frontrunner for the 2027 presidential race and demonstrates party unity at the national level, strong internal confidence in his leadership, and strategic early positioning for 2027.

While Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, who announced the decision of the APC governor’s to throw their weight behind President  Tinubu’s re-election bid, Senate President Godswill Akpabio moved the motion for the endorsement of President Tinubu and was seconded by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas.

One truth that becomes increasingly evident is that President Tinubu has earned the right—and indeed the need—for a second term in office. Not just for the sake of political tradition, but for the stability, progress, and long-term reform of the Nigerian state.

In the closing session, President Tinubu began his speech by celebrating the resilience and growth of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He hailed the party as the “most potent democratic force” in Nigeria and praised its leaders for maintaining internal discipline and electoral dominance.

He stated: “The APC is not just a party; it is a progressive movement reshaping the destiny of this great nation,” and encouraged members to continue to unite and consolidate ahead of 2027, positioning the party as a “natural home for all who believe in the future of Nigeria.”

A major highlight of Tinubu’s speech was his bold commentary on recent defections from opposition parties, especially the PDP, to the APC and also addressed concerns about Nigeria potentially becoming a one-party state due to a surge in defections to the ruling party.

In a tone both humorous and assertive, he said: “You don’t blame people bailing out of a sinking ship when they have no life jackets. I’m glad for what we have, and I’m expecting more to come. That is the game. Welcome to progress—sweep them clean.”

This metaphor-laden statement was a clear jab at the internal troubles of opposition parties, while encouraging APC members to embrace defectors and expand the party’s reach.

President Tinubu acknowledged with gratitude the official endorsement of his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election by the APC National Working Committee (NWC), calling it: “A profound vote of confidence that compels me to serve with even greater dedication,” and praised the party’s resolve and unity and assured members that his next term, if successful, would focus more sharply on delivery and national prosperity.

The President took time to address the painful but necessary reforms undertaken by his administration, such as: Fuel subsidy removal, Exchange rate liberalization, and maintained that the strong economic policies were crucial to long-term national growth.  “We did not come into the office to play it safe. We came to correct the fundamentals—no matter how difficult—so the future generation of Nigerians can thrive.”

As the summit drew to a close, what became apparent was that the Renewed Hope Agenda was not merely a slogan-it is fast becoming a doctrine of governance rooted in bold reforms, citizen engagement, and forward planning. The journey so far has not been without obstacles, but the willingness of the government to listen, recalibrate, and stay the course offers a refreshing departure from the past. Nigerians are not being promised miracles-they are being offered a new social contract based on hard choices, transparency, and shared sacrifice.

The summit was not just an assessment of what has been done; it was a declaration of what lies ahead. With renewed energy, clearer vision, and structured follow-through, the Tinubu administration, under the APC, has set a precedent for performance-based politics. The Renewed Hope Agenda is poised to become the pivot on which Nigeria’s long-awaited transformation turns.

We’ll deliver Anambra to APC, vows Ukachukwu

Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Anambra governorship election to be held on Nov. 8, has vowed to deliver the state to the APC.

Ukachukwu made the pledge while addressing State House Correspondents, after the presentation of the APC flag to him and Sen. Uche Ekwunife, Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate, by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, on Monday.

Ukachukwu said the President charged him and his running mate to bring the state to the centre.

“He has given us a charge to go and bring Anambra to the centre, and that’s what we’re going to do. Anambra cannot continue to be a one-party system.

”The President was in Anambra recently and saw how ready and how charged the party people are in Anambra. He was happy about the turnout of the people that came out to receive him.”

Ukachukwu said he was confident that the APC would triumph in the gubernatorial election because he and his running mate were the ones that made APGA strong.

“I was a former senatorial candidate of APGA. I left APGA with all my supporters to join APC. The Labour Party, the YPP and other political parties have joined us in the journey.

“We have over 80 groups that are lining up to join us. This makes APC to be bigger.  It means nothing is left of APGA in the state.

“It’s not the first time an incumbent will be losing an election; it happened in Zamfara, in Imo and other places. Even in Anambra too, so it’s not new to us in Anambra,” he said.

  • I’m not leaving APC, Governor Alia declares

I’m not leaving APC, Governor Alia declares

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has reiterated his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that he has no intention or reason to leave the party.

The governor made this known through his media aide, Kulas Tersoo, in a statement released to journalists in Makurdi on Sunday.

The statement by Tersoo read, “We read another fake news publication by Sahara Reporters, wherein they have alleged that Governor Hyacinth Alia, is plotting to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) amidst the brewing crisis in the APC in Benue State.

“For the unsuspecting public, the story is not true and is typical of the yellow journalism practices by some online newspapers.

“At a time opposition Governors are joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), due to the policies and wonderful performances of the party under the Tinubu led administration, it is laughable and lame for a media house and its sponsors to even think the Governor would contemplate leaving the party he is presently sponsoring in the State.

“There is no doubt about the Governor’s loyalty to the APC. He has been an active participant in the affairs of the party, including the recent endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the APC sole candidate ahead of the 2027 presidential elections. His presence at both the zonal event and national held at the banquet hall in the villa contradicts the false narrative being peddled by this medium of a strained relationship with the Presidency.

“Again, the APC leadership in the State is in no crisis as claimed in the unfounded report. The party under the chairmanship of Hon. Benjamin Omale, has a super working relationship with the Governor, and has been performing its functions effectively, both at the State and national level, as was seen recently during the APC Summit in Abuja.

“It is appalling and disappointing how a medium could blatantly publish lies to cast doubts on the attendance of a personality like a state governor in an occasion he attended along with his colleagues with full media coverage.

“We urge readers and the general public to yet again, disregard this fake news report and to always rely on credible sources of information rather than fake information mediums.

“The Governor has no plans to defect from the APC, especially as Benue State stands to benefit more under the party and the Tinubu led presidency. He will continue to deliver good governance to the people of the Benue State on the APC platform they elected him.”

Niger APC chieftain lauds Bago on Bida’s 20-year development plan

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Dr. Mohammed Kudu Santuraki, (Santurakin Nupe), has commended Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, for launching Bida’s 20-year Development Plan.

He described the plan as a ”bold and visionary initiative” for sustainable urban growth, economic advancement, and social inclusion in the historic town.

Bago had on Saturday, May 24, officially launched a 20-year development plan aimed at modernizing Bida town.

Santuraki, who is the Secretary-General of the Niger-South Senior Stakeholders’ Forum (NSSF), said in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday that development plans of this nature are hallmarks of serious governance, providing a strategic roadmap to transform cities from centers of potential into engines of prosperity and modern living.

According to him, Bida, with its deep historical roots, cultural significance, and population strength, deserves a structured path to progress.

“The unveiling of the long-term plan signals renewed hope for infrastructure renewal, youth empowerment, enhanced social services, and private sector engagement across the Bida,” he said.

Santuraki expressed gratitude to Governor Bago for “demonstrating foresight, inclusion, and commitment to the future of Bida.”

“I also extend my best wishes for the judicious and transparent implementation of the development plan in a manner that reflects the aspirations of our people,” Santuraki said.
