…to shoot first movie next year

RnB singer, actor and filmmaker, Bankole Wellington, aka Banky W has returned to the New York Film Academy where he had earlier taken an eight weeks filmmaking class.

According to the actor, this time around, he’s back for screenwriting classes.

In a short clip on his Instagram page, Banky opines that we have a whole generation of young filmmakers in Nigeria who are passionate and talented and are interested in creating their own business and telling their own stories

“If you take that passion and you give them that little bit of training and that little bit of support, you’ll have a whole new generation who can change their country and they can change continent and they can elevate the arts that is coming out from this part of the world with their own stories,” he said.

He was speaking about Nigerian filmmaking and his New York Film Academy education thus far.

I really really hope to be able to open a world class film & music school in Lagos. We need it. May God help me pull it off. Even if we start with NYFA in Lagos as summer school type thing 2018.. it would be so dope. Already started trying to reel in support for it from my corporate friends. With all the talented artists and storytellers we have, this is absolutely necessary,” he captioned the clip.

He further dropped hints that he would be shooting his first movie next year with the hashtag; #shootingmyfirstmoviein2018 #sohelpmeGod.

Most songs on Banky W’s forthcoming album for Adesua

Following the announcement of his engagement to actress Adesua Etomi on Wednesday morning via Instagram, musician Banky W has revealed that most of the songs of his forthcoming album are about his bride-to-be.
He said this on Twitter in response to @iamfresca who asked, “Oga boss @BankyW abeg tell us now, were you thinking of Adesua when you made #Kololo?”
Responding, he tweeted, “Lol. It is completely about her. The majority of the songs on the forthcoming “Songs About U” project are.. only like 2 or so are not.”
With this, it puts to pay that the singer who has been recording songs for his sixth studio album had Adesua on his mind for a while. Adesua even stars in the video of one of the songs on the album, ‘Made For You,’ which he released in February 2016.
In the video, they are lovers celebrating their anniversary amidst a romantic setting of rose petals.

It’s Official: Singer Banky W proposes to Adesua Etomi

Nigerian singer, rapper and actor Banky W has officially proposed to his girlfriend Actress Adesua Etomi.

Adesua and Banky W have acted as lovers in a music video and the blockbuster movie, The Wedding Party and now it is for real.

Banky took to his twitter and Instagram handle to officially announce his proposal to Adesua and talked about how they created chemistry in the movie, “The Wedding Party”.

“We didn’t know the chemistry lasted into reality.’’

Earlier this morning, Adesua confirmed the proposal with the following text  on her official instagram page today @AdesuaEtomi

“I went to an event in 2015 and I suppose that was the beginning of something amazing because once banky saw me, he decided that he was going to be my biggest fan.
He slid into my DM and sent the funniest message and that was how we became friends. At the time, I wasn’t interested in anything but a friendship and he was very respectful of that and so we stayed just friends for about a year and a half.
Our friendship opened my eyes to a lot of things. Opened my eyes to the type of man Olubankole is and WHAT A MAN. WHAT A MIGHTY GOOD MAN.
Olubankole, Your Heart is pure and good, to the very core. You are proof that God is real, you are proof that what’s on the inside is greater and so much more powerful than what we see on the outside and you are the evidence of what I hoped for. I bless God for entrusting my heart in your hands because I know it’s safe. You are everything i prayed for and so much more.
Thank you for praying with me, fasting with me, always making time for me, laughing with me, and caring more about me than yourself. Thank you for being kind, loving and full of Integrity.
And i’d like to say one more thing. I’m SO SORRY that it took me sooo long to realise that it was you. It has always been you. It couldn’t have been anyone else.
In February 2017, you said you couldn’t be without me and asked me to be your wife and I said YES cause I can’t be without you.
It will be an absolute pleasure and one of the greatest blessings of my life to walk the path of life with you.
Thank you for being who you are.
My goodluck charm, my King, my lover, my bestfriend.
I love you till eternity and beyond.
No, This Is not a movie.
    Future Mrs W.”

  • #BBNaija: Who takes home the Prize?

#BBNaija: Who takes home the Prize?

With just two days to end the game, the race to the highly coveted prize money of a whooping N25,000,000 and an SUV has intensified. Following the eviction of the smooth operator – Bally, the “trophy” is within the grasp of the remaining housemates. However, the probability of winning for each of the housemates is 1:5…not a bad one I must say!

The heavily criticised but overwhelmingly entertaining reality show is one that has witnessed several melodramas from the different housemates: From Ese and John being branded “fake housemates” before their eventual eviction, Gifty’s denial of ever knowing Banky W while in the house and the grey areas concerning her marital status, Kemen’s disqualification from the house after massaging and “kemening” Tboss while she was asleep (asleep?, hmmm…only God knows oh!),  ThinTallTony’s fake but glaringly sensual and carnal affair with Bisola in the house, Bassey’s shocking announcement of having a girlfriend after his eviction, and lastly, Bally’s merit award of being the “master kisser”; having kissed all the female housemates before his eviction.

Kudos must be given to all the evicted housemates who have been so wonderful in participating in the show.  Our shout out goes to – John, Ese, Gifty, Miyonse, Soma, Cocoice, Uriel, Kemen, Thintall Tony, Bassey and Bally…We hail thee!

It is believe that any credit gotten in the house will not count when it comes to knowing who will go home with the grand prize as the reality of the impending grand finale quickly crawls upon the housemates; only the person with the highest number of votes will eventually win the prize.

A lot of interesting stories are unfolding in every city as we draw closer to the final few days of the reality show.

BBNaija has simply captivated and more or less mesmerised its audience across Africa, most prominently Nigeria where a lot of people have stood up to campaign for their housemate to win the money bag.

Recently there has been a lot of exciting moments in the heart of BBNaija fans as people of high personality in Nigeria stood up to campaign for their favorite housemate.

Efe who is branded as the man of the moment “based on his logistics instinct” has received a lot of support from Nigerian celebrities campaigning for him and also his people from Warri rallying around to secure votes for their man.

Comedian bright okpocha popularly known as Basket mouth took to his Instagram page to campaign for him. Other celebrities in support of Efe are YBNL Boss Olamide, Ice prince Zamani, I go die, popular Nollywood actress Funke Akindele a.k.a Jenifa also shows her love and support for Efe.

TBoss got the support of Uti Nwachukwu, Linda Ikeji, Adekunle Gold, Linda Ejiofor, Beverly Osu, Ex BBA Africa winners – Dillish and Idris, Ex-BBA housemate – Maria, Nollywood actress – Ivie Okujaye, Beverly Naya, Bob risky, Mike Godson and more.

Bisola got the support of Iyanya, Mofe Duncan, Padita Agu. Also, her sister was recently pictured sharing recharge cards to Unilag students as a way of campaigning for her sister.

Marvis also get her supports from the Rivers state government as a way of mobilizing people to vote for their own child.

Lastly, Debbie-rise was also rumoured to have gathered supports from Kogi state government.

The SUV and N25m up for grabs by the “fantastic five” housemates, the big question now is: Who are you casting your vote for?

  • Banky W reveals thoughts behind new song

Banky W reveals thoughts behind new song

Singer and label boss, Bankole Wellington, aka Banky W, who has just dropped his first single in 2017, ‘Blessing me’, said on Tuesday that the song is a thanksgiving to God for his life.

The EME honcho who featured Kaffy and IMagneto dance crew in the video took to his Instagram page to reveal to his fans, the vision behind the song produced by Masterkraft.

“As you all probably know, I had a fire incident in my house last week that was a little bit scary at the time,” Banky W wrote on his Instagram page.

“But instead of focusing on that fear or on the damage and what was lost, I choose to celebrate the fact that God has once again saved my life, and made me victorious over death and unfortunate circumstances. I’m celebrating life, and counting my blessings… knowing that the challenges I face, pale in comparison to the greatness that’s in store for me by God’s grace. So this song is as much for anyone that’s going through tough times, as it is for those that have already overcome them.”

In the video of the song which has been uploaded to Youtube, Banky W is seen in working as a mechanic and becoming successful with each passing frame.

“And then at the end, you see that my entire story and my rise from nothing to something, is actually in someone else’s mind as he reads about me in the magazine,” he said of the sequence.

“So that’s why you see the little vibrations/glitches as you’re watching us perform… because he’s imagining the whole story of my own rise, and it’s actually serving as inspiration for him as he’s also starting from his own “nothing” hoping to make it into something.”

BBNaija: Biggie strikes housemate, as viewers vote Uriel out

The unusual happened on social reality show, Big Brother Naija (BBN), as Kemen was sacked from the competition for violating the rules of the game. This happened hours before the live eviction show, anchored by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
Kemen, one of the two brawny housemates got the first warning strike last week for what Biggie described as conspiring with Marvis against some housemates for possible eviction. It was at this instance that Biggie cancelled last week’s nomination exercise and put up all the housemates, safe for Bisola and Bally who had immunity and ThinTallTony who was able to save himself having won the Head of House task. It came as a surprise to viewers that Kemen broke the BBN rule again, especially having been made to write out the in-house rules in the aftermath of last week’s transgression. This time, he was found guilty of sexually harassing a female housemate, TBoss, while she was asleep. This is perhaps the first time any housemate will be disqualified from the show in the decade-long history of the Big Brother franchise in Africa.
Kemen, an opinionated BBN housemate, is a ship manager turned fitness entrepreneur and Port Harcourt’s most sought after personal trainer.

Banky W who visited the housemates as a celebrity guest penultimate week, made a second appearance on the show. This time, opening the live eviction show with his song, “All I Want Is You”. He later performed another of his hit songs, “Yes or No”.
Amidst palpable tension in the house, and suspense by Ebuka, the hammer of real eviction fell on Uriel, as the housemate to secure the least number of votes from fans. It was the first time that the Hammersmith, England-born housemate was put up for possible eviction. Having played her way smartly in the heart of other housemates, it was clear Uriel couldn’t garner enough liking from viewers.
Joining Ebuka on stage, Uriel was surprised to be faced with the crowd. “I’m in shock. This is crazy. I thought it was a joke. Can I go back…? ” she asked jokingly.
On her dual personality in the house, given her freer mien in the diary room, she said: “I just thought the diary room is where you go to and just express yourself and be you.”
About getting romantic with any male housemate, the radio personality who hails from Imo State said she has been single for a year and although she was attracted to Bassey whom she believed was indecisive.
Uriel who was the first housemate to enter the house on January 22, 2017, was also shocked to discover that Ese and Jon who left last week were fake housemates.
The remaining housemates can heave a sigh of relief as there will be no eviction next Sunday. However, Ebuka advised them to do less of bonding and focus on the prizes, as the game gradually moves towards the end.
The voting pattern revealed that Efe came tops with the highest vote of 39.9 percent. Kemen would have been evicted all the same, having scored 4.8 percent which represented the lowest number of votes. Uriel scored the second lowest with 7.9 percent, followed by Debbie-Rise with 8.3 percent; Bassey with 11.8 percent; Marvis with 12.9 percent and TBoss with 14.4 percent.
