    Banky W loses award plaques to house fire

    R &B singer, Banky W, has survived a fire outbreak which razed a part of his Lekki residence early this morning. The fire which started at about 6am was said to have been caused by a faulty air conditioner.
    The actor/singer recounted his experience on his Instagram page.
    “So there’s good news and bad news. The good news is… I’m thanking God that I’m alive to give the bad news as a testimony,” he stated.
    Narrating the incident, Banky said that he was lying awake in bed at about 6am, when he started smelling smoke and realized it was coming from outside his door.
    “Opened it to see the whole stairway was filled with huge gusts of black smoke/soot, and a fire was burning stuff downstairs. The smoke was so much I couldn’t get down past it to see the source of the flames. Rushed back into my room and climbed down from the 2nd floor balcony with my dog… and then got help from the amazing workers and neighbours who helped me put out the flames,” he wrote.
    According to the artiste, the fire was caught early enough and the damage wasn’t so bad, although, he said, it basically burnt some of the stuff that was around it.
    “So awards, portraits, and some small electronics. But thank God, Duke and I are alive and well. We only had to form James Bond and climb down from the top floor balcony LOL Thank God for my neighbors and the amazing workers in and around the compound for helping us escape via the balcony, helping put out the fire, and helping with the aftermath/cleaning,” he added.
    The officials of the Lagos State Fire Service were said to have arrived the scene of the fire by 7.30 am and helped to stop the fire.

    In the spirit of the Valentine season, musician, actor and producer Banky W has said that a lucky fan will win a trip for two persons to Dubai.
    The EME boss disclosed this on his Instagram page, posting an accompanying picture of himself in a caftan. He said a competition to find the winner will be announced by him soon as well as the release of a new song.
    “I know yall haven’t forgotten about the Dubai Trip giveaway,” said Banky W who recently paid a surprise visit to housemates of the ongoing Big Brother Naija reality television programme.
    “Just finalising the details with my friends at @visitdubai.af. Hope you’re following em already? Cuz I’m gonna be announcing the competition with the release of a new song in a couple of days. And in the spirit of the spreading love this Valentine season. Someone lucky WILL win that trip for 2 to Dubai.”

    Banky W plans North American tour

    The Chief Executive Officer of Empire Mates Entertainment (EME), Olubankole Wellington, is planning to go on a tour in the United States and Canada.

    Information revealed that it has been long since the artiste, popularly known as Banky W, has performed in the States. He is also set to hit some cities in Canada to be with his fans; after his engagement with One Africa Music Fest holding on July 22 in New York where he would be playing the part of host.

    The North America tour tagged ‘Banky W, Songs About You’, will kick-off in July and run into August 2016.

    Banky W is therefore employing his fans to keep a date with him, as the dates of the tour will be released soon.

    “Been a while since I’ve performed in the States/Canada,” said Banky W, on his Twitter account.

    “So after I host #oneafricamusic-fest in NYC on July 22nd, I’m going to hit the road for a month and rock out with my Day 1 Yankee fans. Please stay tuned for confirmed date.”

    The artiste, who is known for soul music, is currently promoting the tour with release of posters on his social platforms. With many awards to his credit, Bany W is also the brand ambassador for Ciroc ultra-premium vodka.

    RIDING on the success of its premier production, Fifty, EbonyLife Films has announced the cast for its upcoming romantic comedy, The Wedding Party.

    Directed by New York Film School alumni, Kemi Adetiba, the movie features the likes of Africa’s king of comedy, Alibaba, Adesua Etomi,Banky W, Ireti Doyle, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Zainab Balogun, AY, Beverly Naya, EmmaohGod, Lepacious Bose amongst others.

    Set in Lagos, Nigeria, The Wedding Party is the story of Dunni Coker (Adesua Etomi), a 24 year old art gallery owner and only daughter of her parents about to marry the love of her life, IT entrepreneur Dozie (Banky W). The couple took a vow of chastity and are looking forward to a ground-breaking first night together as a married couple.

    Alibaba and Sola Sobowale play the role of Dunni’s parents while Ireti Doyle and Richard Mofe-Damijo play Dozie’s parents. Written by playwright, Tosin Otudeko, The Wedding Party is a collaboration of film houses; EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Inkblot Productions and Koga Studios.

    “The Wedding Party will take guests on a journey to the rockiest wedding day in Nigeria’s history,” a statement from the producers read.

    “The wedding guests will have to take their seats and see whether the wedding planner succeeds or if the groom’s ex-girlfriends will disrupt the day’s proceedings. One thing is certain, The Wedding Party will be the talk of the town.”

    The Wedding Party will hit the cinemas nationwide in December.

    SOME fans of EME label boss; Banky W have urged him to marry his label mate, Niyola.

    The two have been rumoured to be dating, but are yet to confirm it. They were however sighted together at Tolu Oniru’s Dubai wedding to Tunde Demurin, with selfies hitting the internet afterwards.

    Quite a number of fans advised the debonair guy to marry the Toh bad crooner. In the Instagram post, the fans said that the pair made a lovely couple and suchlike. A fan posted, “Make una just marry, you both deserve each other” and another said, “Na wetin I dey advise them.” Other such comments from fans included, “You two always look good together,” and “Perfect couple.”

    However, a few guys would much rather Banky W not take the plunge with Niyola for the simple reason that they want sexy diva to themselves. As one fan quipped, “No, I would like to get married to Niyola, Banky please leave her for me,” another advised them to stop posting their pictures as a couple, if they were not going to get married. As he put it, “If you are not going to marry please stop snapping together.”

    Banky W has been quite open about his being single. He recently posted online a screenshot of a letter from a lady who said that God told her that he was her husband.

    The reggae-like tune was first aired on Beat 99.9 FM on Wednesday.

    The new song which promises to have listeners reminiscing about the artiste’s hit track ‘Don’t Break my Heart’

    Even though Mr Capable himself says he has no woman in his life, the new song is a confession of a man’s love to a woman.

    Produced by Masterkraft, the song which professes love to a woman is expected to be followed with a video release this weekend.

    Banky W, MI, others grace Jacaranda opening

    With the aim of boosting nightlife in Lagos and improving the gaming culture of Nigerians, Jacaranda Casino, last Friday, opened a new outlet in Lagos. Joining its three other outlets in Abuja, Imo and Port Harcourt, the management of the casino stated that with the opening, Lagos State just became a much more fun place to be.
    The opening, which witnessed the presence of crème de la crème of the Lagos social circles including big names in the entertainment and business world, took place at Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja, where the casino is situated.
    Addressing the media, prior to the opening party, Group Managing Director of Jacaranda Casinos, John Storey, said that the decision to open another outlet stems from his love for Nigeria.
    “We have been here for about nine years now and this is out fourth casino. This is our new flagship. We decided to be a new part of the Nigerian night life. When we first came in, we found that the hotels were pretty boring in Nigeria. That was many years ago. Casino business in Nigeria is just at its infancy. Nigerians are just getting used to night life so with this opening, Lagos has become a much more fun place to be,” he said.
    For Yahaya Maikori, a director at Jacaranda Casino, there is no better time to launch in Lagos than now.
    “We have a huge gaming culture in this country, it’s just that we are being private about it. We are bringing an international standardised facility that is comparable to any other facility outside the country. We are bringing a facility that Nigerians will be proud of, that they will be able to spend time in and enjoy themselves. It is our hope that we will open a big business, employ more Nigerians and list Jacaranda in the Nigerian Stock Exchange sooner than later,” he added.
