Kumuyi’s voice stronger, louder than Obi’s tiny voice, Omokri blasts critic

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has replied to a social media critic who said Kumuyi’s speech sounds like someone who is sleeping.

The Nation had reported that the General Overseer of Deeper Life Church, Pastor Williams Kumuyi charged Nigerians to be hopeful that God would rebuild the country through President Bola Tinubu.

However, many social media users, especially ‘Obidients’ criticised the renowned man of God for his optimism in Tinubu’s government.

A social media user Malachy said: “His speech sounds like someone that’s sleeping.” adding a laughing emoji to his post.

But Reno Omokri in a reply to Malachy, said Pastor Kumuyi’s voice is stronger, more robust and louder than Peter Obi’s voice, for which we thank God.

He said: “Thank you for your feedback. You really ought to be careful who you insult. Pastor William Kumuyi is eighty-two years old, yet he still stands for hours and talks eloquently.

“I checked your profile, and you are an Obidient. Peter Obi, who you praise so glowingly on your profile, is sixty-two. Twenty years younger than Pastor Kumuyi.

“Yet, Pastor Kumuyi’s voice is stronger, more robust and louder than Peter Obi’s voice, for which we thank God.

“I pray to God that you, Malachy, would be able to stand and talk deeply for hours at eighty-two, like Pastor Kumuyi, and do the very quiet charitable works he does. In Yeshua’s Name.”

  • Be wary of fake prophecies, Kumuyi warns

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church Pastor William Kumuyi has charged Nigerians to be wary of fake prophets and their prophecies in 2019.

Kumuyi spoke at the church’s retreat at the Deeper Life Conference Centre, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with the theme Hope: feasting after harvest.

Kumuyi said Nigerians should not believe or give their time to fake prophets, who have penchant for false prophecies in the New Year because some of their prophecies over the years have unfulfilled.

“Many so called prophets has penchant for prophesing about stock market, economy, politics, environment and other social issues but speak less of salvation message which is the heart beat of God for his people,” he lamented.

He asserted that prophecy that only draws attention to oneself and not to Christ displeases God.

He noted that since the fall of man, sin and wickedness have continue unabated but Jesus death and resurrection has given man hope,  power, and victory over sin and it’s impeding dome of hell fire.

This, he said should be the focus of our message as God’s servant to His people.

He challenged preachers of the gospel to use every opportunity to warn sinners of the danger of hell if they fail to repent.

He wondered what will be the gains of preachers “if we have a swollen church with large membership to prepare men for heaven but lose our place in heaven.”

  • Kumuyi urges auditors-general to embrace integrity

GENERAL Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church Worldwide Pastor Williams Kumuyi has urged Auditors-General to embrace the virtue of integrity since it plays a critical role in carrying out their responsibilities.

He explained that integrity, perhaps, is the most important principle of leadership.

According to him, “Auditors write reports which are to be relied upon by members of the public. It follows, therefore, that such reports must be truthful and honest; because integrity requires telling the truth, even if the truth is ugly.

“It is better to be honest than to delude others. This quality is so important that the Almighty God Himself demanded and acknowledged it in the Holy Scriptures.”

Kumuyi, who spoke in his paper, titled: “Integrity: an indispensable quality required of the nation’s auditors-general”, at the annual conference of Auditors-General in Abuja stressed that “the straightest, surest path to respect and confidence and success is through honesty and truthfulness, and the straightest, shortest path to failure is through falsehood.”

“Habitual truthfulness is a bright and shining quality we should all possess. It grants strength in the path of duty and leads to the most enduring success.

“Without this virtue, there is no reliance on spoken or written reports, no confidence in men of authority and power, no security in pledges and oaths.

“Truth is always consistent with itself and needs nothing to help it out. Falsehood is dangerous and humiliating,” he said.

  • Buhari, Gowon, Kumuyi counsel Nigerians on challenges

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari, a former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) Pastor William Kumuyi yesterday urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the country owing to its challenges.

They were optimistic that through hard work and prayer, Nigeria would overcome its economic, moral and social challenges and remain a single prosperous entity.

They spoke at a special national prayer service, ‘Nigeria Prays’, held at the DCLM headquarters in Lagos.

The event featured prayer sessions anchored by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who was represented by Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment (MITI) Okechukwu Enelamah; Anambra State Chief Judge Justice Peter Umeadi and Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa.

Other guests included a presidential candidate and former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke and his wife Onari; National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Director-General Dame Julie Okah-Donli; Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ogun State Governor’s wife Olufunso Amosun.

Buhari, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, acknowledged that there were challenges in all sectors of the country’s national life, “but none is greater than God”.

He said although his administration was working hard at addressing the challenges, “the place of making supplications to God over our needs cannot be over-emphasised”.

Hailing Gowon for the 22 years of the Nigeria Prays Movement, the President added: “Prayer is the right thing to do and the way to go. Nigeria is not a mistake. God that brought us this far won’t abandon us.

“It is right that we pray to God for the unity and prosperity of Nigeria. None of Nigeria’s challenges is greater than God. In God we trust and He will take us through the challenges.

“I have so much respect for General Yakubu Gowon because of his love and desire for the unity of the country. Gowon led the nation through the great civil war. It was a war of peace and for peace in Nigeria.”

Gowon, who is the President of the Nigeria Prays, was hopeful that Nigeria’s problems would be resolved through unrelenting prayers by the church, rather than resort to violence, retaliation and lack of forgiveness.

He said: “The church must provide a moral compass for the nation to make the people imbibe the fear of God and to follow righteousness.

“Brethren, it is important to remind us that the church is God’s House of Prayer. With the general elections coming ahead, it is natural for people to become anxious and fearful of what the future holds for Nigeria in the light of the wanton killings in the land – be it politically motivated or instigated by the dark agents of insurgency like Boko Haram, armed herdsmen or rustlers.

“Whatever the provocation, whatever the threat, for the sake of the country, Nigerian Christians should never resort to a retaliation that would lead to a religious war.”

He called Nigerians to “come together to pray and intercede for our dear nation and its people.

“God’s solution to the problems of this country is not in guns, retaliation or physical weapons but in prevailing prayers of the church.”

Kumuyi, who spoke on ‘Divine assurance when Nigerian Prays” said God will answer if His people, faced with national perplexity can pray.

According to him, if God could turn around and show mercy to Nineveh, Egypt, Assyria and other countries and individuals in the Bible, there is hope for Nigeria.

Kumuyi said: “If God could answer the prayer of Nineveh, I’m telling you the word of God is assuring us, God will answer our prayer.

“Nineveh was written off by Jonah. How many people are writing off Nigeria, saying that the country is going to disintegrate? I say no, it is not going to disintegrate.

“They say there is no hope for the country, that we have come to the end of our posterior time, I say we are just beginning. Something new is going to happen.

“They expected that Nineveh was going to perish and be totally forgotten. The people repented and prayed to God, and God spared them and preserved them. On the basis of that, I say there is hope from God for Nigeria.”

  • Kumuyi cautions prophets of doom over 2019

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church Pastor William Kumuyi has cautioned doom sayers to stop negative predictions over the 2019 general elections.

He assured God will rise and save the nation from its present challenges.

Kumuyi, who alluded to scriptural references to buttress his point, passionately last week in an address to a large number of leaders of the church in Lagos.

His message was also transmitted live across the entire country and beyond.

In a message titled “Passionate prayer by the godly for the nation, he said it was time for national rebirth.

He lamented some prophets were seeing dangers and saying the nation will disintegrate over the polls.

He took a swipe at the prophets of dooms, saying God will show up in His mercy and Nigeria shall be saved.

He appealed to Christians not to relent but continue in their intercession for Nigeria to overcome its predicaments.

Kumuyi stressed: “ As we pray, wait on the Lord and make supplication for our nation, the Lord will answer the prayer.

“Praying and interceding for people can turn the condition around for the better. It can be done, it will be done.

“By prayer, what we cannot do because we are not among the people who are taken decisions, by prayer, we can turn the hands of the Almighty God and the hands of God can move our nation in the right direction.

“Great things God can do when intercessors pray for their nation. Abraham prayed for Sodom and Gomorrah, Moses – interceded and prayed for a whole nation of Israel.”

He added: “Like Daniel, we should pray and stop accusing anyone or group of people as the cause of the national problem.

“This land, this nation would be healed; there will revival of everything we have ever hoped for.

“We need to pray like Daniel prayed for his nation. Great things will happen when multiple Daniels pray for the country and turn things around for good, divine attention will come and God will wipe away the tears of our nation.”

  • Buhari to Kumuyi: your visit a morale booster

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari said yesterday that the visit by Deeper Life Bible Church General Superintendent Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, has boosted his morale.

He noted that God did not make any mistake by creating 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria.

In a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President said: “God did not make a mistake when he created over 250 different ethnic groups, and decided to put them in a place called Nigeria.”

Buhari said Nigerians must appreciate God for bringing everyone together.

“We must appreciate God for bringing us together. He knows what he was doing. He didn’t make a mistake,” the President noted.

Describing Nigeria as “a great country” endowed with human and natural resources, President said: “We have challenges in trying to get people to understand us.

“With my experience as a governor, Minister of Petroleum, Head of State, Chairman of Petroleum Trust Fund, I thought I had seen it all, but Nigeria has a way of going at its own speed.

“My morale is raised by your visit. I very much appreciate it,” he added

The President noted what he described as Pastor Kumuyi’s “intellectual achievements” as a scholar and university lecturer before going into full time ministry, adding that he was “excited a great deal” for the General Superintendent’s acceptance of government’s invitation to preach the sermon at the country’s 58th independence anniversary.

“Thank you very much,” the President said.

Pastor Kumuyi, who leads one of the country’s largest Pentecostal churches, said it was an honour to be received by the President on a busy day as October 1.

He told the President that he appreciates the government.

“Please remain focused and courageous and do what is right. Not everyone will support you publicly, but we are praying for you so that your tenure will be one of progress and prosperity for the country.”

The General Superintendent was accompanied by his wife, Esther, Pastor Samuel Afuwape, Pastor Chike Onwuasoanya and Pastor Seyin Malomo, the Chaplain of Aso Chapel.

  • Unemployment: Kumuyi urges govt, church to collaborate

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Christian Ministry, (DCLM), Pastor William Kumuyi, has urged government and international agencies to collaborate with the church in solving youth unemployment.

Kumuyi spoke yesterday at the church’s headquarters in Gbagada, Lagos during a certificate and award ceremony of the Skill Acquisition Programme (SAP) organised by the church’s Young Professionals Forum (YPF).

Over 350 participants of SAP acquired skills in areas including urban and hydroponic farming, digital marketing, web design, mobile application, photography and video editing, event planning and interior design, pastry and mixology.

Kumuyi, who was represented by DCLM Secretary, Pastor Jerry Asemota, noted that over half of Nigeria’s 182 million people were under 30 years and that according to the National Bureau of Statistics, the unemployment rate in the third quarters of 2017 was about 18.8%.

“These are the most conservatives estimate. The figures could indeed be higher,” he noted

Kumuyi said this motivated the church’s desire “to assist the teeming unfocused youths into self-discovery through God’s direction, which is leading us to support them in channelling their talents and mental resources into productive use.

“The motivation for this pivotal professional training began in 2011 but formally commenced with the skill acquisition programme last month, which is a continuation of our desire to cultivate the total and an egalitarian display of the complete mankind whose entire faculties are carefully primed to show forth the praise of God”.

Kumuyi added: “It remains our abiding desire to have them subsequently transformed from being employees to self-employed personalities and from employers to becoming entrepreneurs. Our unflagging desire is to reignite their spiritual lives to appropriate blessing from the arsenal of God’s grace”.

  • How to conquer the devil, by Kumuyi

•Church to leaders: shun corruption, evil

GENERAL Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church Pastor William Kumuyi yesterday urged believers to resist the devil’s temptations to commit sin just as Jesus did.

In a sermon to conclude the church’s National Easter Retreat with the theme: Heirs of His Kingdom, Kumuyi said Satan offered the world to Jesus, but Christ resisted the offer because he “knew what he possessed”.

The preacher spoke against disaster, accident, sickness and persecution, telling the packed auditorium and his global audience: “He that is in you is great than he that is in them.”

Shouts of Amen reverberated around the hall and the camp group as Kumuyi said: “You are an overcomer! Your triumph is in the Word of God!”

Reading from Mathew 4:4, Kumuyi explained that Satan showed Jesus the best the “world” could offer, including money, women, and pleasure. “That’s what was presented to Jesus,” he said.

But, he said just as Christ successfully resisted the devil, true believes also can. He urged members to proclaim: “I will not fall down for Satan. I will not worship Satan!”

Kumuyi said Christ’s victory over Satan was based on what he knew and possessed, adding that Jesus did not need anything from the devil.

The General Superintendent said with more faith, Christ’s followers would be protected and “surrounded by angels”.

“You will triumph by faith; you will not be defeated. Your destiny is not in the hands of the persecutor, but in God’s hands. You will not yield to persecution in Jesus name,” he said as shouts of Amen rent the halls.

Kumuyi declared the nothing would stop believers from “enjoying what God has given you,” adding that Christians have been given the power to “bind and lose”.

Speaking on a sub-theme: Transfer of power Kingdom Triumph, the preacher told the worship: “From the bank of heaving, God will transfer something to you!” A thunderous shout of Amen followed.

Kumuyi added: “Heaven is going to transfer power into you today. You will not come last in the race that is set before you. You will not be weary. You will run and you will not fail.”

Worshippers stood and joined in fervent prayers as Kumuyi said: “You will thread on serpent and scorpion. Somebody say: ‘I have conquered the enemy!’ Receive that power now!

“The devil and tempter will not overcome you. Victory for the family is mine. Disease will not cut your life short. Devil will not cut your life short. The power of God will go with you!”

The camp group erupted as worshippers repeated after Kumuyi: “He has made me a conqueror! I am an overcomer!?” Amen and applause followed.

After Kumuyi’s sermon, the Camp Commandant, Pastor Andrew Umoru; the Church Secretary, Pastor Jerry Asemota and Moderator of the church in Lagos, Pastor Bayo Oyeyemi, jointed briefed reporters.

Umoru said only righteousness would move the country forward, adding that the convention was designed to teach Christians how to shine as light in whatever positions they hold.

He said: “We have had so much about corruption in Nigeria but we know that true Christianity brings a difference and that is what this retreat is all about. It is about teaching believers to shine as light and be different from the unbelievers.”

Umoru said Christians should not embezzle money but live according to the testimony of Christ.
