MohBad probably surrounded himself with cultists – Naira Marley

Embattled rapper Azeez Adeshina Fashola aka Naira Marley, has suggested his former signee, Mohbad, most likely surrounded himseld with cultists.

He made the remark in a chat with former President Goodluck Jonathan’s media aide, Reno Omokri on the nature of the singer’s demise.

Naira Marley admitted the deceased endured a lot of bullying and needed help as a result of all the stress that came with being a target of constant harassment but noted none of those were from him or his record label.

According to him: “I believe he was actually stressed as much as he needed help. I believe he has been bullied. I believe there were people on his neck, people all over him that he was in danger. But it wasn’t from us.

“If he was in danger from me, if anybody is scared of me, nobody is gonna come out doing all of these.

“I don’t believe in any cult whatsoever. I came to Nigeria in 2019 from England. I don’t know what a cult is. I’ve been running away from the cultists in Nigeria.

“I’m actually an anti-cultist. I’m against it. So many times they tried to force me into it but thank God they never succeeded in doing it.

He further claimed individuals accusing him of having an involvement in Mohbad’s death were trying to hide the genuine cause of his tragic incident but expressed hope that the authorities would carry out an exhaustive inquiry to establish the truth.

“I do understand that maybe he [Mohbad] had surrounded himself with a lot of bad people like a lot of cultists.

“And I can see from the way people are trying to cover up, with the way they’re sending in money [to Mohbad’s family] and with the experience of what has happened around them. I just hope the police will find out a lot of things, man”, he added.

Nollywood superstars Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh are under fire for their excessive show of concern and support on the late singer MohBad.

This concern prompted calls for a new, more fitting casket to honor the late artist properly.

Some Nigerians questioned whether Iyabo and Tonto’s decision to document this private moment was driven by genuine compassion or a desire for attention and clout.

One Fela Cas wrote: “Two clout chasers doing everything for the camera.”

One Osun è ku iroju stated:
“I have once said it and will still reiterate it again. These people care less about Mohbad. They are all about clout chasing. With my over 4 decades on earth, I have never seen anyone do a video while shopping for a casket. It’s so gri ss. Haha”

One Abeni wondered: “Is it necessary to record the act of commemoration? This isn’t me calling them clout chasers, but is it necessary tho’? Seeing those coffins just gives me chills”

MohBad: Nigerians slam Naira Marley over ‘fake’ viral video

Following a viral video shared by Naira Marley explaining the last conversation he had with MohBad, Nigerians have slammed him for belittling their sense of reasoning and making a mockery of their intelligence.

Many believed Naira Marley cloned MohBad’s voice and faked the call just so he can be exonerated and free from the wrath of Nigerians.

The Nation reported MohBad died on September 12 and was buried the next day in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The sudden and tragic death of the 27-year-old singer generated backlashes against the Marlian boss and his caucus from many Nigerians.

Naira Marley, on Tuesday, in a statement released on his Instagram account, distanced himself from Mohbad’s death.

However, on Wednesday, former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri shared a video of Naira Marley and Mohbad conversing.

During the purported phone conversation, the ‘Yahoo Boy’ crooner said that the late singer mentioned to him about feeling suicidal and had already done a video telling the world to blame Naira Marley and his team for his death.

The video has sparked mixed reactions online, with many questioning Naira Marley’s purpose in recording the conversation while others claimed it could be AI-generated to exonerate himself.

  • Mohbad RIP: A minute silence is not enough

Mohbad RIP: A minute silence is not enough

Ladies, let’s have a minute’s silence for the late Mohbad,” urged Barrister Ada.

Everyone stood up and bowed their heads. Except for the ear-rending noise from Mummy Judith’s generator…that “wicked” generator that does not allow the whole house to sleep.

“But how can we be silent with Mama Judith’s gen on. Even at wee hours, Mama Judith will not allow us to sleep,” asked an angry Tamara, protesting the noise, as all heads remained bowed.

“Abi o! “She says her daughter can’t sleep without a fan. For her daughter’s sake, we too must all keep awake. But I don’t blame mother and child, I blame NEPA, I mean PHCN, or rather the Ikeja Electric Distribution Plc or whatever they are called. Anyway, I plan to buy a Lister gen,” Sexy Jola added with a somewhat twist in her voice to show that even though the last part of her statement sounded like she was joking, she wasn’t. I took note of that but before I could respond. Ada interjected.

“Ladies! Can we just pretend the atmosphere is silent? Let’s bow our heads and say a solemn prayer to the late Mohbad…please!” We bowed our heads and imagined the whole place was silent. “May his soul rest in peace!” Ada said.

“Amen,” came the response as we took our seats that evening. It was the evening of the candlelight gathering held in his honour in Lagos. Tamara had planned to attend and had told us so the previous evening. But Ada advised her against it, saying: “Babes! That place will be very rowdy o. To be more safe than sorry, I’d advise we dedicate a minute of silence to him at tomorrow’s forum.” The suggestion seemed to greatly displease Mummy Fawaz, who protested: “Is that not being hypocritical? Do we even know who he is or even listen to his music?”

“But does it matter that he is not in a close relationship? He is a Nigerian, and young at that. I feel very sad any young person dies, whether I know him or not,” Tamara countered, Anyway, Ada insisted and Tamara didn’t go, the rest is history because the one minute silence was observed and Jolaolu opened the floor of that Thursday evening after the silence with chanting some lyrics from his song, ‘Peace’.  Baba Imole, sun re o, Jolaolu retorted after her chant and continued. “I didn’t even know much about him, although I had heard his songs on the airwaves. And I didn’t even like his songs because I just don’t like the glorification of drugs and vices in our contemporary songs. But, as a mother and a Nigerian, I felt sorry that we had to lose such a promising young lad. I don’t know the details or what is true but it all sounds sad.”

“A minute of silence is not enough, if you asked me. Indeed, it’s so sad that like his song, “Peace”, Mohbad went down “…faster than a bullet”

“Yea, that’s so true, Eve! And speaking of his song, there’s a line in the song that sounded like a premonition, “I know there is a day when all my pains will go away…till then I’ll smoke it away. At least now his pain will go away,” Ada noted. “I don’t know where we are going. Now, all our children want to do is sing, act or dance. No job for our youths, they turn to music, they meet their end. And education that is meant to improve lives is underfunded. And even when our children graduate, there is no job. It’s a vicious circle, I tell you,” Mummy Fawaz, our educationist, complained. And while she was about to continue, the light was restored, “I think this is where we must call it a night,” Ada stated. The group stood up unanimously and said our “Good night” for the evening.
