    Ondo youths demand #JusticeforMohBad

    Ondo youths on Wednesday stormed major roads to protest the tragic death of singer
    Ilerioluwa Aloba aka MohBad.

    The protest, marked by chants and calls for justice, aimed to draw attention to the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s demise and seek justice.

    As the protest advanced through the Akure metropolis, its momentum grew, attracting an increasing number of youths who joined the cause.

    In addition to the physical demonstration, protesters also utilised various social media platforms to amplify their grievances, employing hashtags such as #JusticeForMohBad.

    MohBad passed away on September 12, 2023 at 27.

    As controversy continues to trail the death of singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly called Mohbad, protesting fans in Lagos and Delta states took to the streets yesterday to demand justice, after similar demonstrations in Ogun and Ondo states.

    Protesters came out en masse in some areas of Lagos State with one of the protests starting from the Alagbado axis of AIT Road and moving to the Command area, then to Ile-Iwe in Meiran.

    The rallies went on amid tight security, with at least four police patrol vans loaded with armed officers accompanying the protesters.

    Over 200 youths were clad in black tops with placards of different inscriptions seeking justice for Mohbad.

    There were also similar protests in Warri, Delta State.

    Scores of youths in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, last night held a candle procession for the late singer.

    The popular Adekunle Fajuyi Park, which served as a take-off point for the lovers of Mohbad across the state, was filled up.

    The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, yesterday in Ibadan joined hundreds of youths who were protesting the death of Mohbad.

    The rally tagged: “Justice For Mohbad”, which took off from Mokola, moved towards Sango, Bodija and climaxed at the Oyo State Secretariat, Ibadan.

    The Speaker in company with the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adefemi, walked with the protesting youths while the rally lasted.

    Ex-presidential candidate Gbenga Olawepo-Hasim has urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the mystery surrounding the death of Mohba. He also enjoined the police to do “justice to the memory and spirit of the late music star.

    In a statement from his media office in Abuja, Olawepo-Hashim said the death of the young man “has again highlighted the terror that the grip of the underworld on our streets inflicts on the society.”

    The Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, has commiserated with the family and fans of Mohbad

    Senator Abiru in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, in Lagos yesterday described the death of Mohbad as painful and devastating.

    Iyabo Ojo leads protesters to Lagos Assembly over MohBad

    A group of demonstrators under the aegis of Justice for MohBad led by actress, Iyabo Ojo, besieged the House of Assembly to seek justice on the death of the 27-year-old singer.

    Ojo said: “It is no longer news that Lagosians are agitating for justice over the death of Mr. Ireoluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as MohBad, who died under some unclear circumstances.

    “MohBad posted videos of how he had been under serious attacks from members of the record label he left to be on his own. Though we know the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State has begun investigations, we seek justice.”

    Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Adedamola Kasunmu, thanked the demonstrators for their peaceful conduct and promised to to present their plea before the Speaker and entire house.

    He said: “We also discussed the demise of MohBad and I can assure you that we will allow the law to take its cause. Let us await what the police investigations will bring and we will take it up from there.”

    Other members of the House, who received the protesters were Sylvester Ogunkelu, Ajani Owolabi and Rasheed Shabi.

    Mohbad: MTV Base drops everything Marlian

    MTV Base, an international music channel, has joined the growing list of music outlets that have placed a ban on everything pertaining to Marlian.

    Marlian Music is a record label owned by embattled singer, Naira Marley who’s been fingered for ‘having a hand’ in Mohbad’s demise.

    Following the uproar for the controversial death of Imole, a number of radio stations around the country decided to place a “Not to Be Broadcast” (NTTB) ban on all the songs under the Marlian Records Label.

    This was prompted as a result of the emergence of several videos of harassment and bullying of Mohbad, who was a former signee of the label; leading many to point accusing fingers at the label’s boss and his well-known associate, Sam Larry over their alleged involvement in the singer’s ‘untimely’ death.

    This development was announced by popular TV host, Ehizojie Okoeguale aka DadaBoy Ehiz, a staff of the music channel.

    He made the announcement on his X handle on Wednesday, September 20, applauding the 24-hour music and general entertainment channel for the move.

    He tweeted: “Mtvbase dropped everything Marlian … kudos to dem.”

    Earlier, DadaBoy Ehiz expressed his condolences over the death of Mohbad noting: “Rest In Power IMOLE. All he wanted was make music.”

    Mohbad: Fan chides Liquorose over ‘unconcerned’ attitude

    Reality TV star, Roseline Omokhoa Afije, aka Liquorose has reacted to a social media user who chided her for being ‘unconcerned’ about Mobad’s death.

    The entertainer shared a video which captured her giving off some hot dance moves in what seemed like a hotel room.

    She posted the clip on her Instagram page with the caption; “Movesssss.”

    As fans and followers commented on the post, one user identified as Amarachi expressed her reservations about the dancer’s action.

    Perhaps, she expected Liquorose to be grieving just like many social users following the demise of Mohbad.

    She wrote: “So, nothing concern you concern Mohbad death Abi???? Continue, hand go touch you soon.”

    But the multi-media personality didn’t take Amarachi’s words superficially as she swiftly decided to invoke the supernatural against her.

    She replied: “Whatever hand you meant will touch you, your entire family, your generations to come and everything you lay your hands on in JESUS name, AMEN.”

    According to information posted on the chart on Wednesday, September 20, the late musical act recently peaked at 58.

    He becomes the 58th bestselling digital artiste in the world.

    The Global Digital Artistes Ranking chart is measured by an artiste’s presence on iTunes and streaming charts around the world.

    He is ahead of international giants like, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, and 21 Savage, Chris Brown, Lady Gaga, and several others.

    Mohbad, a promising young rapper died on Tuesday, September 12, at the age of 27 and was swiftly buried the next day despite the controversial circumstances surrounding his passing.

    As a result, the call for justice has continued to echo beyond the internet to the streets with fans and lovers agitating for a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of his death and possibly make arrests where necessary.

    Recently, some top international rapper like Lil Durk and Kodak, Popcaan, and some others expressed their condolences over his passing.

    Mohbad: Oyo speaker joins protest in Ibadan

    The speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin on Wednesday, September 20, in Ibadan joined hundreds of youths who were protesting the death of the young Nigerian hip-hop singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba Imole, popularly called Mohbad.

    The rally tagged “Justice for Mohbad” which took off from Mokola moved towards Sango, Bodija, and eventually climaxed at the Oyo state secretariat, Ibadan.

    The speaker in the company of the state commissioner for youth and sports, Wasilat Adefemi, walked with the protesting youth while the rally lasted.

    Dressed in black T-shirts, the youth who carried various placards calling for justice for the late Mohbad chanted different solidarity songs.

    Ogundoyin who addressed the protest at different points commended the youth for standing up for justice, adding that all well-meaning Nigerians must lend their voices to call for justice for Mohbad.

    The speaker, who described his death as painful and shocking, said the deceased was a talented and highly inspired young musician whose songs are lyrical and melodious.

    He said the late Mohbad who rose from grace to grass exhibited a great passion for music.

    He said: “It is unfortunate that Ilerioluwa Imole died in mysterious circumstances. The investigation team set up by the Nigeria Police Force must be thorough in their job. Everyone connected with the death of the young man must be questioned and investigated and the cause of his death must be unraveled.

    “Why did the Police fail to investigate a petition he sent to them on constant threats to his life?  There are video clips showing Mohbad being beaten and bullied, yet no one was arrested at that time and no one was prosecuted.

    “He also did some audio recordings of his depressing situation and condition but nothing was done by the security agencies to secure the life of the promising singer. This is rather pathetic, pitiful, and condemnable.”

    A former presidential candidate and a Global Oil Executive Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has enjoined the Police to do “justice to the memory and spirit of the Late rising Music Star,  Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad, by doing a thorough investigation of this matter, and ensuring that the culprits for the crime if any, do not escape the law.”

    In a statement from his media office in Abuja on Wednesday,

    Olawepo-Hashim explained that the death of the young man has again “highlighted the terror that the grip of the underworld on our streets inflicts on the society.”

    According to him: “I deeply sympathise with those who truly love this fallen star, who tragically is becoming louder in death than in life. He has become a “Martyr” of a cause in a unique way.”

    He added: “The death of the rising music star, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad in very suspicious circumstances must be an occasion to free the society from the grip of the underworld.”

    “As a father who has a son in Arts and Music, two years older than Mohbad, I am worried and concerned about the grip of cult leaders, on some aspects of our musical lives and entertainment as well as the control of drug lords.

    “The Mohbad saga has also further highlighted the dark side of entertainment financing in the absence of a well structured and disciplined support system for budding talents especially from poor homes.”

    He added: “At the root of the exploitation of talented young people is the weapon of poverty manipulated by rich but rough and wicked. It is time to end this evil!”

    He appealed to security operatives “to allow and protect those who are pained by this sad occurence and who want to peacefully embark on processions and vigils. 

    “Organised violence by malevolent forces should not be an excuse to deny those who are peacefully seeking justice for Mohbad the right to do so!”

    The Police authorities, he said,  “must ensure above all, that Mohbad gets justice in death!”

    Artists signed on Marlian Records

    Marlian Records is owned by street-hop artist Naira Marley. It was founded in December 2019 and has since expanded to include numerous additional artists.

    The label has been surrounded with controversy recently surrounding the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as MohBad.

    Here’s a list of artists who have been signed to Marlian Records:

    1. Naira Marley: Azeez Adeshina Fashola, known professionally as Naira Marley, is the founder of the Marlian Records label.  He doubles as the CEO and artist in Marlian Records. 

    He announced the founding of the record label on December 30, 2019, during his Marlian Fest concert at Eko Hotel and Suite, Lagos State.

    2. Zinoleesky: Oniyide Azeez, popularly known as Zinoleesky, is a Nigerian songwriter, singer, and rapper born on April 21, 2000. 

    Zino was one of the four artists who signed with Marlian Music in December 2019.

    3. MohBad: Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as MohBad, was a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter born in Lagos on June 8, 1996. 

    MohBad was previously signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records before his departure in 2022.

    Tragically, he passed away on September 12, 2023, at the young age of 27.

    4. CBlvck: CBlack, whose real name is Olamilekan Kazeem Kudus, was signed to Marlian Music the same night with Zinoleesky, in December 2019. 

    Mohbad name-dropped him, alongside Zinoleesky and Naira Marley, in his diss track for Marlian Records.

    5. Fabian Blu: Inim Fabian, also known as Fabian Blu, hails from Akwa Ibom State. 

    He was among the four members that got signed to Marlian Music in 2019. 

    Some months after his signing, Fabian Blu, 25, called out Marlian Music on social media for not promoting him as much as they were promoting his label mate Zinoleesky. 

    Whether he exited the label or not is unknown to the public because neither Fabian nor Marlian Music confirmed any contract termination.

    6. Tori Keeche: On August 23, 2020, Tori Keeche was announced as the first female artist signed to Marlian Music. 

    7. Vusic: Vusic signed to Marlian Records in June 2023. Vusic was born in Lagos, Nigeria. 

    He started his music career in 2019.

    8. Emo Grae: Emo Grae is a singer-songwriter who has released songs like “0903” and “Gone.” 

    Emo Grae joined Marlians Records in 2020.

    9. Lyta: Babatunde Rahim, popularly known as Lyta, is a Nigerian singer who signed with Marlian Records in 2020 after he controversially left YBNL (Olamide’s record label) in 2018.
