    A recently surfaced video has captured a Baale from the Ikorodu neighbourhood giving an account of the interactions he had with Mohbad’s father after he passed away.

    According to his narrative, the late singer’s father had originally intended to hold a midnight funeral on the same day of his son’s passing, but he fiercely objected to the idea.

    He added that he had voiced his dissatisfaction with the planned course of action and made it clear that midnight burial wouldn’t take place.

    Expressing himself in Yoruba language, the Chief stated: “I am the one who did not allow them to bury him. They wanted to bring him in the midnight.

    “His father had called me, firstly I didn’t want to answer him, I said you can’t bury him in the middle of the night, not here.

    “They had already brought their shovel here because I was once the chairman of this community, also once a deputy chairman C.D.A of all this area even when there was no chairman I acted for some days.”

    MohBah died on Tuesday, September 12, and was buried on Wednesday, September 13 at Ikorodu.

    Actress-turned-politician Tonto Dikeh through her foundation has pledged to sponsor the education of late singer Mohbad’s son, Liam.

    In a statement on her Instagram page, Dikeh’s foundation joined family, fans and well-wishers to mourn the sudden demise of Promise Ilerioluwa Aloba.

    It states that Liam would be receiving an educational sponsorship up to his secondary school level.

    To accompany that, the foundation of King Andreh Dikeh, Tonto’s young son, also vowed to support the family of the deceased singer with N100,000 for the next twelve months as child support for his five-month-old son.

    While it commiserated with Imole’s family and fans over his passing, Dikeh’s outfit prayed for divine comfort and anticipated justice for the dead.

    The statement reads: “The Tonto Dikeh foundation sympathises with the family of late Mr. Prince Oladimeji Aloba aka MOHBAD.

    “We are heartbroken and join millions fans all around the world to mourn a shining LIGHT, who’s LIGHT was untimely dimmed.

    “With that being said, the Tonto Dikeh foundation would like to support General Mohbad through his son by him An All paid educational scholarship till he finishes his secondary school level.

    “In addition to that, the King Andre Dikeh Foundation would like to support the family by paying his son (Mohbad’s son) a monthly child support of a hundred thousand Naira only (N100k) every month for one year.

    “We send our heartfelt condolences to Mohbad, fans and family at a time like this and will only hope for divine consolation. 

    “God bless you all as we seek justice for the departed.”

    Singer and music label boss, Naira Marley has experienced substantial Instagram followership decline amid the controversy surrounding the death of his former signee, Mohbad.

    Since the unexpected and sad passing of Imole, Naira’s followers on the photo and video sharing app has continued to dissipate.

    After MohBad’s death, countless videos suddenly surfaced on the internet allegedly linking Naira Marley as well as his associate, Sam Larry to extreme bullying and harassment of Mohbad during his lifetime.

    It’s being reported that a series of assault was launched against Imole after he decided to ditch the Marlian Record label owned by Naira Marley.

    Besides that, the pathetic manner in which the singer died, drew sympathisers and fans attention to his songs and they came to the realisation of the constant maltreatment he was subjected to by his harassers and bullies.

    Visibly these and more ignited fury in many who have expressed distate for Naira Marley over his supposed involvement in Mohbad’s demise, prompting them to unfollow him in their hundreds of thousands.

    As such these aggrieved fans and well-wishers seeking justice for the singer activated an ‘unfollow Naira Marley on all his social media handles movement’.

    Before MohBad’s passing, Naira had over 7.4 million followers on Instagram. But as of the time of this reporting, it has swiftly dropped to 6.9 million.

    MohBad: Ibadan radio stations ban Naira Marley’s songs

    In the wake of the heartbreaking demise of the blooming singer, MohBad, some radio stations in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, have placed a ban on all songs from Naira Marley, the Marlians Records boss over rumoured controversy surrounding him.

    The radio stations explained on Monday that the decision was taken due to the ongoing investigation into the mysterious death of MohBad.

    The radio stations that have announced their decision are Splash 105.5 FM and Agidigbo 88.7 FM.

    Splash FM, in an internal memo that was sent to its staff on Monday, noted that the decision was taken in view of the sensitive nature of the death of the musician.

    “In view of the sensitive nature around the death of Mohbad and the criminal procedure the police have commenced, I will urge us all to exercise discretion.

    “To this effect, Naira Marley’s songs have become NTBB (Not to be Broadcast) on our stations until further notice. This is with immediate effect,” the statement said.

    Agidigbo FM, in its own declaration, announced that it has ceased to air all songs from Marlian Records, owned by Naira Marley.

    Agidigbo FM founder Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat made this announcement Monday night.

    “From today, all songs from Marlian music are forbidden at Agidigbo.

    “We did not say they were the ones who killed him, but all songs from their music label have been henceforth cancelled,” he said.

    Music Executive Paulo has regretted paying less attention to MohBad after experiencing him in UK.

    He admitted that he may have unintentionally caused the singer’s demise by taking Mohbad to the UK for a personal show.

    Paulo shared that during their time in London, Mohbad expressed concerns about receiving threats, prompting him to consider hiring security.

    The artist manager reflected on his initial lack of awareness regarding the severity of the situation.

    Paulo said: “I think I’m even the person who caused all this wahala. If I didn’t take Mohbad to UK I don’t think all this could have started again. Because after Uk show, he got a show in Greece had a European tour and started having all this opportunities again. I feel so sad.

    “I told him him we are going to London, get me your passport, I will get you your Visa we are doing UK tour. He was just panicking even when he came to London we were in one of the hotels, he started telling me that he is getting threats. Listen, I didn’t know this thing was this bad.

    “When he told me he needed security, I told him what is security gonna do, you are in London. And he showed me something that was when I told him that as long as he is here that he is okay, nobody is coming to touch him. I spoke to him and his manager and I also told him that we will get him a security guard.”

    Hundreds of youths in Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State took to the streets on Tuesday to demand justice over the death of singer MohBad.

    Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Records Label, died on Tuesday, September 12 in Lagos at 27.

    Wearing black tee-shirts, the youths stormed Panseke area of the Ogun capital city hoisting placards with inscriptions such as: “Justice for Mohbad’’, “Government must arrest `Naira Marley‘’ and `Sam Larry’’ among others.

    The cause of Mohbad’s death has been a subject of controversy since the tragic incident.

    Some of the protesters told newsmen that police must investigate the cause of the singer’s death and bring the culprits to book.

    One of the protesters, Ayo Michael said: “we are in pain!! Mohbad must not die in vain. We want the government to arrest anyone culpable.’’

    Another mourner, a visibly angry Mustura Abiola, said: “that boy had a promising future, but his life was cut short.’’

    A colleague of the deceased singer, Boye Best, urged the government to be thorough and transparent in the investigation and ensure that justice is served.

    Hundreds of youths took to the streets of Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, yesterday, in a peaceful protest to demand justice over the mysterious death of singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

    Mohbad, a signee of Marlian Records Company, died on September 12 in Lagos. He was 27.

    Clad in black tee-shirts, the youth began the rally at Panseke area of the Ogun capital hoisting placards with inscriptions such as: “Justice for Mohbad’’, “Government must arrest `Naira Marley’ ‘’ and `Sam Larry’’ among others.

    The cause of Mohbad’s death has been a subject of controversy since the tragic incident.

    Some of the protesters told reporters that police must investigate the cause of the singer’s death and bring culprits to book.

    One of them, Ayo Michael, said: “We are in pain! Mohbad must not die in vain. We want government to arrest anyone culpable.’’

    Another one, a visibly-angry Mustura Abiola, said: “That boy had a promising future, but his life was cut short.’’

    A colleague of the deceased singer, Boye Best. urged the government to be thorough and transparent in the investigation and ensure that justice is served.

    Fans of the late singer also yesterday took to the streets of Akure, Ondo State capital, to demand justice for the singer.

    The protesters wore black attires, chanted songs and demanded  justice for Mohbad. They said those responsible for his death should be arrested

    They carried placards  with inscriptions such as “Say No to Marlian Music”,  “Justice for Mohbad”,  “We want a coroner’s inquest into Mohbad death”, among others.

    The protesters marched through NEPA, Arakale and Oba Adesida roads and were escorted by security operatives comprising men of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).

    An organiser of the protest, Mr. Ajulo Sunday, said they were demanding arrest and prosecution of Mohbad’s killers.

    Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has urged police authorities to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of Mohbad.

    The governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, said the minimum the country owes the deceased and his family is justice, which he said could only come through a thorough investigation of the circumstances leading to his death as well as various revelations that came out thereafter.

    Governor Oyebanji spoke yesterday just as Ekiti youths plan to hold a procession in Ado-Ekiti, the capital to mourn the late singer and demand justice for him.

    Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has invited the Department of State Services (DSS) to join in the probe to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of MohBad.

    Lagos Police Command on Monday inaugurated a 13-man probe panel following the directive of Governor Sanwo-Olu.

    In a statement yesterday, the governor sympathised with the artistes’ family and fans.

    A law firm, Falana and Falana Chambers, has requested a coroner’s inquest into the death of Mohbad.

    In a letter dated September 18, 2023, and addressed to the Chief Coroner of the High Court of Lagos State, Justice Mojisola Dada, the firm described the singer’s death as “very tragic” and noted that it happened under “mysterious” circumstances.

    Folakemi Falana, who signed the letter on behalf of the firm, urged the Chief Coroner to cause an inquest to be conducted to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic death.

    Peter Obi commiserates with MohBad’s family, fans

    Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 2023 election, has commiserated with the family and teeming fans of the late singer, Promise Ilerioluwa Aloba aka MohBad.

    The singer died last Tuesday with several speculations bordering on the cause of his death. He was buried the next day at Ikorodu.

    With the uprising following the controversies surrounding the death of the 27-year-old singer, as well as allegations of a threat to life while he was alive, the authorities have since swung into action to ensure thorough inquiry into the matter.

    The Lagos  Police Command on Monday inaugurated a 13-man probe panel to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba.

    Expressing his condolences to the deceased’s family, Obi via his official X handle bemoaned the grief parents have to endure upon the loss of a child.

    He also implored the government and security agencies to ensure an exhaustive probe in unearthing circumstances surrounding Imole’s demise.

    He tweeted: “On behalf of my family, I condole with the mother and entire family of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, Mohbad, over his painful demise. I know how difficult it is for parents to lose a child, especially one with such a promising future as his.

    “I urge the government and the security agencies to probe the circumstances that led to his untimely demise and to leave no stone unturned in unraveling the circumstances surrounding his death.

    “With his demise, the nation has lost a promising talent in our growing music and entertainment industry.

    “I pray God to grant him eternal rest, and grant his parents, family, and teeming fans the fortitude to bear his irreplaceable loss.”

    Senator Ned Nwoko has said he would introduce a bill for mandatory autopsy before burial while he expressed his thoughts over the heated controversy surrounding the death of singer, Mohbad.

    He described the artiste’s demise as unfortunate and untimely, urging the authorities not to leave any stone unturned in unraveling the circumstance and the cause of Mohbad’s death.

    He also noted that an autopsy ought to have been carried out before burial, promising to introduce a bill that would ensure autopsy is made mandatory before a dead person committed to mother earth.

    The senator representing Delta North also indicated this said bill would be nationwide, conducted within a specific time before burial and more importantly paid for by the government (Local governments and states).

    He wrote: “The unfortunate and untimely death of Mohbad has raised many issues that should be addressed promptly.

    “The circumstances of his death and the cause of death should not be left to speculations. The police and the DSS should wade in immediately but more importantly the state government should order for an autopsy report without further formalities.

    “This should have been done and reported to the station for clearance before he was buried.

    “As a matter of fact I hope to introduce a bill that will make it mandatory nationwide for an autopsy to be done within a specific time before anyone is buried and the cost of such reports must be paid by the governments (Local governments and states).

    “The cause of death of anyone should not be left to the wild imaginations of people. The innocent should be protected and the guilty punished. Situations like this give rise to new laws for the good governance of the country.”
