Super Eagles forward Victor Moses has signed a two- year contract extension to keep him at the Stamford Bridge until 2021, the premier league leaders confirmed Wednesday.

The 26-year-old joined Chelsea from Wigan Athletic in 2012 and spent each of the past three seasons on loan at Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham respectively.

But he has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign under Antonio Conte this time around after being successfully redeployed to right wing-back.

His first start in what was an unfamiliar role came in a 2-0 victory at Hull City in October – a result that began a record-equaling run of 13 consecutive wins in the same Premier League season.

Moses has made 25 top-flight appearances this term, scoring three goals.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, the Nigeria international said: “I feel very excited. I’m delighted to be here for another few years now and to sign a new deal.

“Now it’s time to concentrate on the team and keep working hard to make sure we win games and try to win the Premier League this season.

“We’re having a great season, I’m enjoying my football and we have a good manager here that has given every single one of us confidence. I just want to keep on enjoying it and working hard for the team.”

Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo added: “We are extremely pleased Victor has chosen to extend his contract with us. He is enjoying an excellent season and, under Antonio’s leadership, has proved to be an important member of the squad.

“This new contract is testament to Victor’s hard work and dedication to succeed at Chelsea and we believe he will be a big part of our future success.”

Moses will face one of his former clubs when Chelsea returns to Premier League action at West Ham on Monday.

Conte’s men currently have a 10-point lead over Tottenham in second.

Victor Moses, Yaya, Wanyama jostle for Premier League Award

NIGERIA’S Victor Moses, Victor Wanyama of Kenya and Yaya Toure from Cote d’Ivoire are the players on the short list for the Premier League African Player for January.

In a month where a good few of African players have left their clubs to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations, Moses, Wanyama and Toure have kept the African flag flying with impressive performances for their respective clubs.

It has been a good season so far for Victor Moses who has made the shortlist on 5 occasions and won the award twice in a row late last year. Victor Wanyama has been solid for Tottenham, guiding them to a highly respectable place on the table and helping as they remain the side with the least losses in the league and the best defensive record so far. A lot of Tottenham’s resilience has been down to his input. Yaya Toure on the other hand, has continued to impress in spite of the start of his time under City’s manager Pep Guardiola, and his club has profited from his experience and effort.

No action for Moses as Chelsea wallop Brentford

Super Eagles Victor Moses was an unused substitute as Chelsea made mincemeat of championship side Brentford in the FA cup Saturday. The absence of the Nigerian international who has featured in virtually all matches for Chelsea in recent times did not however stop the Antoine Conte tutored side from enjoying a goal feast to advance in the FA Cup
The Blues were dominant from the off and duly took the lead in the 14th minute when Willian curled an unstoppable free kick over the Bees wall and into the top corner past goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.
Pedro then doubled his side’s advantage just seven minutes later, an impressive counter-attack culminating in Michy Batshuayi playing the ball into the path of the advancing Spaniard, who made no mistake with a low finish.
The seven-time FA Cup winners were rampant but were unable to add to their tally in the opening 45 minutes, although a contentious off-the-line clearance was not given as a goal, while Batshuayi got the ball into the back of the net, but the strike was disallowed.
Brentford also had Bentley to thank for keeping his side in the game and the visitors enjoyed a number of good chances of their own, but their resistance was snuffed out in the 69th minute when substitute Branislav Ivanovic drilled home a low shot following good work from Pedro.
Chelsea added a fourth for good measure in the 81st minute when Yoann Barbet felled Ivanovic in the Bees box to win a penalty, and Batshuayi made no mistake from the spot, sending Bentley the wrong way.

Moses shines in Chelsea’s crushing defeat of Man City

Super Eagles’ in-form striker, Victor Moses was in the thick of action yet again on Saturday as Chelsea handed out a crushing 3-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium  in the English Premier League
Though not on the score sheet, Moses’ whiles and guiles were there for all to see throughout the entertaining encounter which saw Chelsea staged an impressive fightback to claim victory over title rivals Manchester City that ended with a bench-clearing melee and two red cards.
The influential London tabloid, Daily Mail awarded Moses 6 out of 10 stating inter alia: ‘He(Moses) showed how much he has matured into wing-back role with a fantastic last-ditch challenge to deny Aguero a certain goal.’
Meanwhile, Aguero was sent off in injury-time for a nasty challenge on David Luiz and Fernandinho also saw red in the scuffle that followed as City lost their cool after a potentially damaging defeat.
City dominated the first hour, but had only a Gary Cahill own goal to show for it before quick-fire strikes from Diego Costa and impressive substitute Willian transformed the game.
Eden Hazard wrapped up the Premier League leaders’ eighth successive win in the last minute before controversy erupted.
Aguero and Luiz had clashed earlier in the game, with the Brazilian perhaps lucky to escape punishment for bringing down the City striker as he looked set to race in on goal.
In a related development, Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola claims Sergio Aguero’s red card challenge on David Luiz in Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Chelsea was not intentional.
Aguero is facing a four-match ban after receiving his second red card of the season, but Guardiola defended the Argentine striker.
“It was not intentional, I don’t think so. If it’s a red card, it’s a red card. We accept that,” Guardiola said in his post-match press conference. “It’s a pity it finished like this. It’s the way the referee decided but it’s a pity. I don’t like that, I apologise for what happened. Fernandinho went to defend his team-mate.”

“The power and strength he had… he was so direct and never gave me a second to breathe.

“I was pretty young, it was my first or second season with Southampton. He was, when I look back, my toughest game.”
