  • I can’t bear my husband strong sexual urge again, wife tells court

An estranged wife, Sola Bamisile, 30, on Monday told an Ikole Ekiti Customary Court that she could no longer bear her husband’s strong sexual urge.

The petitioner alleged that her husband, Bayo Bamisile, constantly beat her whenever she refused him sex.

Sola told the court that within five and a half years of their marriage she had given birth to four children.

She also alleged that the respondent failed to care for her and the children.

According to her, none of the children is in school.

“I always quarrel with my husband because none of our children is in school; there is no proper care for me and the children.

“My husband is always concerned about having sex with me whenever he has taken palm-wine.

“He has not even paid my dowry,’’ she said.

The petitioner, however, told the court that her husband and his family members had been reaching out to her to reconsider her divorce move.

“My husband and his family have been coming to me to change my mind about the divorce.

“He has also written a letter of undertaking to be of good behaviour,’’ she said.

The petitioner tendered the letter of undertaking in court as exhibit.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the letter was admitted by the court.

The respondent denied the allegation of constantly fighting his wife and failing to take care of his family.

He however admitted not paying the dowry.

The president of the court, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, ruled that the plaintiff should monitor the respondent’s behaviour for three months to ascertain if he had changed.

She also ordered that the man should enrol his children in school before the next adjourned date.

Ojo adjourned the case to May 8 for report of settlement.

  • My husband steals, LASTMA official-wife tells court

The eight-year-old marriage of Mrs Kofoworola Ajulo, 31-year-old LASTMA official, may soon hit the rocks as she wants to call it quits, citing her husband’s alleged kleptomania and ritual obsession.

Kofoworola, a resident of Faronbi Street, Abule Egba, a Lagos suburb, told an Agege Customary Court on Friday that her husband, Seyi, a 38-year-old driver, for whom she had two children, was also a drunk.

“He drinks to drinks to stupor. Whenever I am at home, there is no peace of mind for me.

“On several occasions, l caught him stealing from me after a hard day’s job.

“We are not compatible, there is no peace of mind in the house. My husband drinks to stupor and misbehaves,” said Kofoworola, who urged the court to dissolve the marriage.

She added:“He keeps checking my phones and monitoring my movements. He is also fetish and was always in possession of different charms.

“When l got pregnant for our first child, he claimed l needed to follow him to their village for a
particular festival so that l can give birth safely but I refused.

“Sometimes l see charms under his pillow or mine which he claimed are for protection while he hides
    others in his pockets.

“For me the marriage is over as there is no love lost between us again.”

The petitioner also wants the respondent to be responsible for the children’s education and upkeep.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the respondent, the husband, was absent in court.

In his ruling, the court’s President, Mr Phillips Williams, adjourned the case to April 4 for judgement. (NAN)

  • Why Buhari was elected, by wife

Why Buhari was elected, by wife

THE President’s wife, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, yesterday urged Nigerians to emulate her husband’s doggedness  by never giving up on their cherished  aspirations.
Mrs. Buhari said after several failed attempts, her husband became the nation’s president, following his persistence and compassion for the masses.
The First Lady spoke in Abeokuta at the launch of a book, titled: “Buhari vs Yar’Adua: Facing the future,” written by Mr. Opeyemi Soyombo, Special Assistant on Media to Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Mrs. Buhari, who was represented by Amosun’s wife, Olufunso, hailed the author for documenting the legal struggles of Buhari regarding his election petition challenging the victory of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua in 2007.
She said record-keeping or documentation was vital to the life of people or nation, adding that without it, history stands the risk of being distorted.
The President’s wife noted that there were lots of lessons to learn from the life of her husband, who contested the presidential election for four consecutive times before he eventually won in 2015.
Mrs. Buhari said: “His victory has paid off considering his passion to help the masses and most importantly, the successes recorded in the anti-corruption war of his government.
“I commend the efforts of the writer for documenting the  presidential election suit between the candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and President Umaru Yar’Adua of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2007.
“This shows that the author has been following with keen interest elections held in the country and the petitions arising from them.
“In most recent shared views and writings on human and societal development, the investment made on other people gives tremendous yields; thus the facts and authenticity of the book are invaluable.”
Also speaking at the book launch,  a retired judge of the state high court,  Justice Ademola Bakre, expressed worry over Nigeria’s future.
Bakre lamented the rot in the Nigerian judiciary and warned against interference and undue pressure in the affairs of judges.
He said the citizens should work out a better Nigeria of their dream, stressing that they must change and desist from demanding bribe.
The author, who spoke with reporters later, said he was motivated to write the 179-page book to cast light into the issues of election rigging with a view to pricking the nation’s conscience to forestall rigging in future.
Soyombo said Buhari was short-changed in the 2007 presidential election, adding that the book canvassed measures to “ensure that we have credible, free and fair elections and to ensure that the judiciary, either by design or default, would endorse electoral robbery”.
The book was reviewed by Mr. Kayode Oyede of the Department of Public Private Law, Faculty of Law, Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos.

•Man needs N1m for arm surgery

An expectant mother, Mrs Sandra Aguveso yesterday relieved what she went through to facilitate the release of her husband by kidnappers last January 26.
She said she trekked several kilometres into Epe forest to drop the ransom cash, bought recharge cards and beverages so that the kidnappers won’t kill her husband, Jonathan Aguveso, 43.
Aguveso, a Minister at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), was shot on his left arm on January 19, before he and three workers were whisked away from Eliasa Farm, Epe.
According to the woman, Aguveso had gone to the farm around 9am to buy eggs, which they usually supplied to their customers, but was kidnapped, shot and taken into the forest.
Aguveso has been on admission at a hospital since January 26, with doctors battling to save his arms.
Twelve steel balls were removed from the arm by a local doctor before he was taken to a specialist hospital where two more pellets were found on the right side.
Aguveso is expected to undergo series of surgeries and spend at least three months in the hospital.
Mrs Aguveso appealed help to underwrite the about N1 million hospital bill.
She said: “We have done the first surgery and the doctor charged N850,000. I was only able to pay N400,000. Then, to remove the other two pellets discovered on his right arm, the doctor said it’ll cost us N70,000. There’s another surgery he said we have to do in three months and that one would cost N500,000. Then, the cost of staying in the hospital per night is N2,500 and we have to be there for three months. Everything is over a million. I am appealing to Nigerians to assist us because we don’t have money. I have used up our savings already.”
Mrs. Aguveso said the kidnappers asked for N15million for her husband’s release, but collected N500,000 which she borrowed.
She was asked to take the money to somewhere in Epe, but when she got there, the kidnappers told her to pick a motorcycle and proceed to Igbodu.
She said: “The motorcyclist who took me to the area refused to stop when I sighted the clothe the kidnappers had asked me to stop by along Epe-Igbodu road. Instead, he drove to the nearest community by the roundabout and raised the alarm that I was working with kidnappers. I couldn’t tell him my mission since the kidnappers had threatened to kill my husband, come to my house and finish my entire family if I said anything.
“So, I was just begging that I am not a kidnapper and don’t know them. That I was looking for someone and it was the person who asked me to stop there. That I don’t know what the man was talking about. The bike man now left me at the roundabout, collected his money and left.
“The kidnappers were calling and asked me to start trekking down until I got to the clothe before branching into the forest. I trekked several kilometers before I got there. I was afraid but saving my husband’s life was my priority. I wrapped the N500,000 ransom I was able to generate into farm clothes and dressed like a farmer so that no one would accost me on the road and collect the money.
“When I got to the clothe, I couldn’t branch because vehicles were passing. I didn’t want them to say I led spies or police to them. So, I explained to them that I would have to pass the place a bit and then return after the vehicles had gone, which I did.
“When I entered the forest, I walked until I came to an underbridge, where I heard gunshots. There, I saw two men. One of them was fair. They didn’t wear mask and they were holding guns. They asked me to stop there and I did.
“They had told me to buy malt, liquid milk, Sprite and Seven Up drinks, which I did. They also told me to buy cigarette but I begged them that I was a Minister and it would be against my faith to buy it. But that I can monetise the cigarette when I get there. They also asked me to buy recharge card of N3,000, which I did.
“So, when I got there, I dropped the things with them. But as I bent down to drop the money, I saw about seven other armed men inside a boat. They told me to turn back that I would meet my husband on the road. But when I got to Epe roundabout without seeing my husband, I called the number they were using to call me. The number is registered on Truecaller as VM Abiodun.
“They picked and told me to go home. I now asked if my husband would be able to get home and that what if he didn’t have transport fare but they said I should go home that they would give him transport. That he was still weak from the gunshot injury and was receiving treatment.
“So, on the seventh day, the farm owner called my brother-in-law to ask if we have seen my husband because they have been released. We said no and became worried. This was around 6pm. I was crying and wondering what might have happened to him but around 9pm, someone knocked on the door and when we opened, it was my husband.”
Mrs. Aguveso said she quickly went in search of a hospital that can treat the gunshot injury since the bullet has been inside his body for seven days.
She said her husband disclosed that he hasn’t drink water for six days and that the kidnappers warned him to not drink water until the bullet was removed.
“He said they also gave him a local concoction to drink in order to stop the effect of the bullet. That we should get a hospital or a nurse to treat him properly. But neither the hospital I went to nor the private nurse agreed to attend to him without police report. They said they won’t treat him.
“I had to contact the Divisional Police Officer and he told the nurse to treat my husband that we would get the report in the morning. When we got it, we were directed to a doctor who extracts bullet locally and he removed the steel balls. From there, we went to Epe General Hospital but when their surgeon wasn’t forthcoming, we were referred to the specialist hospital where he’s been all the while.”

  • I DIDN’T BEAT MY WIFE, SAYS TONTO DIKEH’S HUSBAND

HUSBAND of Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh, Dr. Olakunle Churchill, has dismissed allegations that he was violent towards his wife and was involved in a relationship with his ‘female’ PA, describing allegation as ‘blackmail’.

Churchill, an entrepreneur and philanthropist, disclosed this in a recent interview with Toast Magazine.

“It’s funny to me,” the chairman of Big Church Group which includes Big Church Foundation said, “because I don’t have female Personal Assistant, My PA is Mr Paul, who has been working with me over the years. Besides, it was a sponsored blackmail.”

He also declined to comment on whether his wife, Tonto, caused uproar at his mother’s home, pushing her to the floor and destroying everything in the house, saying: “These issues are private to me and my family.”

Responding to news about a separation between him and his wife which was purportedly leaked by his housemaid to an online media, Churchill said: “Every family has its ups and downs but I would not want to talk about my family.”

He also denied that his wife moved out with his son because he was violent.

“I wonder where they got such gist from?” he questioned.

“I don’t believe my wife will say that, besides I frown against such even my foundation preaches against domestic violence in some of our charity awareness campaigns. It is obvious that all these channeled attacks are targeted to drag my image and what I believe in to the mud. Well, the truth is that I have never raised my hands against my wife. I have evidence of CCTV Cameras in my mum’s house when this happened. It can be replayed if you what us to go that far.”

His union to Tonto produced a son who was one year old on Friday. And he seems to be indifferent about the tussle in his family.

“I see nothing in it,” he said.

“It’s a phase of life. Since, it does not affect my cheques and savings. But I truly want to call on bloggers or on social media addicts to verify facts before assuming. Every marriage has good and bad moments. It’s just unfortunate that I recently discovered that the alleged marriage instability is making headlines on some media platforms. Please Tonto Dikeh fans and well-wishers take it easy on her, guess she is still adjusting to motherhood. With time, it will be well.”

Recall that Tonto Dikeh revealed her frame of mind over their purported failed marriage, refusing for her spirit to be dampened.

The actress who recently garnered 1.5 million followers on Instagram, said: “There seems to be several rumours floating around media recently. However, let the record show, there hasn’t been any deals made in regards to a fight between myself and any other fighters. I am happily retired and enjoying life at this time. If any changes are to come; be sure that I will be the first to let the world know.”

News of Tonto’s marriage break-up started early in the year, when reports filtered in that her husband of 17 months was reportedly having an affair with his personal assistant, Rosaline Meurer, which she debunked on a live interview on HipTV.

Hence, it was with some shock that the actress disclosed that her marriage was broken on Instagram.

“When a woman leaves her husband, she takes her child because absolutely nothing else matters to her but the child,” she wrote.

“This is what I did and I happily give all access for his father to see him. What goes on in my marriage and home is my personal life, I’m grateful for all the years of support you all have been giving me but when it comes to the matter of the heart have enough respect to let us go through our moments alone.”

Already, the actress seems to have deleted all pictures showing her and her husband as a couple from her Instagram page. Their child, Andre Omodayo Churchill, was born in February 2016.

Imukoro has been married for 25 years.

He told court that he was no longer interested in the marriage which had produced four children.

The estranged man, living at Adewunmi Street in Orile Agege, Lagos, described his wife, Mary as “a flirt and trouble maker.

“My wife flirts with different men in our neighbourhood. I warned her to desist from such acts until l caught her sleeping with one of our neighbours in his room.’’

The petitioner also alleged that Mary went to the village in 2011 to confess her adulterous acts.

“Afterwards, a traditional cleansing was performed on her and l accepted to forgive her after much pleading.

“But my wife never stopped her immoral ways. She kept conversing with the same man and flirting about.

“On one occasion, l caught my wife signaling to my neighbour’s husband to meet her up.

“Due to my wife’s immoral ways, business has not been going smoothly for me.

“I became scared to have sexual intercourse with her because whenever l do, thing becomes hard for me financially.

“She is stubborn and lacks in her responsibilities to the family.’’

Imukoro also pleaded with court to grant him custody of their four children, urging the court to dissolve the marriage without further delay.

Mary, an indigene of Isoko in Delta, who pleaded guilty to the allegations, however, begged court to save her marriage amid tears.

The President of the court, Mr Phillips Williams, scolded the woman and advised her to change her adulterous ways.

He told the couple to keep the peace, pending the outcome of the court’s proceedings.

They were later called into the inner chamber for alternative dispute resolution of the mater.

A 75-year-old businessman, Moshood Adedapo, has approached an Igando Customary Court in Lagos to end his marriage to his wife, Balikis, for allegedly grabbing and twisting his scrotum.

Adedapo told the court on Thursday that his wife, Balikis, with whom he had three children in their 20-year-old marriage, was threatening to kill.

“Whenever my wife and I are fighting, she will quickly grab my testicles and start twisting them.

“She will not leave my two balls until I beg and cry.

“Last week, she came to my room while I was fast asleep and grabbed my scrotum, saying I will not escape this time.

“I was crying and shouting for help, neighbours rushed to rescue me, but still my wife refused to let go until I struggled to bite her hands and she released them.

“It was after 20 minutes, I was able to regain consciousness; my two balls have suffered in the hands of my wicked wife.

“Please, dissolve the marriage because I may not be lucky next time,” he pleaded with the court.

The petitioner said his wife had vowed never to honour court’s proceeding.

“My wife went to my friend’s house and told him that I am sleeping with his wife which is not the truth.

“The relationship my friend and I had built for a very long time, my wife came to add sand,” he said.

He also accused Balikis of always cursing their children and those curses were affecting them.

He said that his wife always accused him of threatening her life.

“Anytime Balikis see rat, cockroach or wall geckos in the house, she will be running helter-skelter, accusing me of sending them to attack her,” Adedapo said.

He described his wife as a troublesome person.

“My wife always fight with my tenants, friends and family; fighting is in her blood and she does not get tired,” he said
