    Family releases Lobito’s burial details

    The life journey might have ended for Dotun Olaribigbe, aka Lobito Disco, but his memories would continue to live rent-free in the hearts of loved ones.

    The famous showbiz promoter died on Thursday, July 7, four days to his birthday on July 11.

    Details of his burial ceremony have been released by family members. Service of songs/wake will be held at the First Baptist Church, Broad Street, Lagos, on July 27. The next day, Lobito will be laid down to eternal rest at Ebony Vaults & Gardens, Ikoyi, Lagos.

    Olaribigbe dominated the social scene in the 90s so much that Sir Shina Peters dedicated a song to him. He also ventured into politics, contesting the 2019 senatorial election to represent Lagos Central at the National Assembly.

    CELEBRATING Edgar Joseph’s birthday, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa decided to give the producer and his friends some Calabar treats.

    At her Echoes of Calabar Restaurant in Victoria Island, Lagos, she tagged the event ‘Afang Summit.’

    Olisa Adibua, Mudi Africa, Emeka Oparah, Yemi Shodimu, and comedian Alibaba were among the 30 men who enjoyed the evening with plenty of food and drinks.

    Joseph commended Ita-Giwa for her kind gesture. He said he wanted to host his friends in his house before he got a call from the senator.

    “The celebration was supposed to happen in my house but the senator called me and said she would bankroll it. I can assure you that I will come next year,” Joseph said.

    AHEAD of the Destalker Laughter Crusade on August 7 at the Eko Hotel and Suite, it has been confirmed that 2 Baba and Reminisce will be performing at the event.

    Born Oghenekowhoyan Onaibe Desmond, Destalker has paid his dues in the comedy industry. In 2019, he won Naija FM Comedian of the Year. Last year too, he emerged as Humour Awards Comedian of the Year.

    For his comedy show, Destalker is putting everything in place to deliver a night of bliss.

    “I laugh hard when I hear people say I came out of nowhere. I’ve been in Lagos for almost 14 years doing comedy but His grace found me about four years ago and now I’m the Destalker you know,” he said.

    He said for the Destalker Laughter Crusade, there will be two shows — one on the red carpet and the other in the main hall.

    The monarch, who is a professor of communication, shared the news on his Facebook page,

    “Our boy Adetobi Obalanlege made it. First-Class in Computer Engineering at Ulster University, Londonderry,” the royal father announced.

    THE Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, couldn’t believe his eyes when he visited the beautiful Citadel Views Estate 2.0, Lekki, Lagos. For months, estate mogul, Ned Okonkwo, and his beautiful wife, Ichechi, have been working tirelessly to deliver the project.

    Oba Ogunwusi who has been in the real estate business even before he became a king appreciated the efforts of Okonkwo while touring the facility.

    In her speech, Okonkwo’s wife thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the first phase. She said their initial target was 12 months to complete the first phase but they achieved it within 11 months.

    The first phase has 186 units of different types of houses. The housing model is focused on sustainable living with pre-installed solar solutions in each house.

    The estate unveiling ceremony was attended by Emeka Okonkwo, Obi Cubana, Kanayo O. Kanayo, and other top personalities. Musicians such as Kcee, Teni, and Humble Smith thrilled guests.

    A client, Adeyinka Ayeni, won an SUV in a raffle draw led by the Ooni. He wasn’t in Nigeria to claim his prize but his agent promised to deliver it to him.

    IT was a joyous day for the former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, and his entire household, as his son, Adebola, tied the knot with Morenikeji Ademiju.

    Despite being physically challenged, Adebola seems to have found love and happiness in Morenikeji, and they were celebrated in style.

    In 2018, Adebola proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Tasha. But for some reasons unknown to the public, in 2021, he introduced Morenikeji as his new lover.

    When  Adebola asked her to marry him in April this year, she was excited about it.

    Morenikeji then shared on Instagram: “You rolled into my life and showed me all I needed but never knew to search for. You complete me and give my life so much meaning. You are the best man for me. A perfect man. A perfect family. A perfect ring. I love you Adebola Daniel, here’s to forever with you. Thank you so much to everyone who celebrated our love with us.”

    The ceremony started with a court wedding while the traditional ceremony was held at Marriott Hotel in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

    While cutting the cake, the Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, blessed the couple with prayers. According to him, everyone came to celebrate them but a wedding is one thing and marriage is another thing.

    WHEN the Chairman of Sunny Motors, Chief Sunny Asemota, was alive, he was a symbol of high society. As one of the wealthiest men in Nigeria, he was a perfect definition of luxury. This was also evident in his burial ceremony.

    The Edo-born patriarch of the Asemota family passed on at the age of 87, leaving behind a wife, Ireti, and his children. But the family chose to celebrate his life and times, rather than allowing the loss to weaken them.

    A befitting burial ceremony was held for Asemota recently and it was a gathering of billionaires. Aliko Dangote, Chief Razaq Okoya, Chief Olu Okewo, Chief Alex Duduyemi, and Florence Ita-Giwa were some of the top personalities who graced the event.

    FOR Chief Christopher Olusoji Oloketuyi who will be 70 tomorrow, those who passed through his tutelage would tell you that he is probably one of the best teachers in the world.

    While in service, he was noted for brewing humour during his lectures. This was his strategy to keep his students alert.

    Oloketuyi was born into the family of the very famous and prestigious educated family of the late Chief Samuel Adebayo Oloketuyi of Igbemo Ekiti, Ekiti State (the famous Christ School English teacher/ organist).

    His mother (Mrs Felicia Oyebande of blessed memory), hails from the well-known Ashimolowo’s family in Igbara-Oke.

    Oloketuyi started his educational career as a pupil of Holy Trinity Pry School, Ikere Ekiti in 1958, and graduated in 1964. He was a product of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s free primary education in the then Western Region.

    Between 1964 and 1966, he attended the defunct St Benedict’s Modern School, Ikere- Ekiti. Between 1967-June ’73, he was a student of the famous Christ School for his O/L and HSC courses respectively.

    He was one of the very famous actors on stage in the drama group, an organist like his late father and a distant runner in the field of sports.  He started his teaching career in Christ School shortly after his HSC course between July ’73 to August 74 where he proceeded to the University of Ibadan for his degree course in Arts and graduated in July 1977.

    He had his Master’s degree from the then the University of Ife in 1982 where he was elected as the Postgraduate Hall Welfare Officer.

    He is a graduate of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos and The International Institute of Journalism, Abuja respectively.

    He was a lecturer at the Federal Government College Ido- Ani, the then Ondo State College of Arts & Science in Ikare- Akoko and the then College of Education, Ikere Ekiti amongst others before he was appointed the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Polytechnic in 1992 May where the staff nicknamed him ‘Oni Ayiye’ (the very good person)  where he retired statutorily in June 2017.

    He is a third-term appointee of the Ekiti State Government under different governments as Commissioner in the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission where he is currently serving.

    Oloketuyi is the Otun Ijo of St Peter’s Anglican Church, Igbemo Ekiti and the Fiwajoye of Ilamo Ekiti.

    He is happily married to his very beautiful wife- Chief Mrs Mojisola Oloketuyi (a retired nurse) from the Akinola family of the Odo Ese’s quarters in Ijero Ekiti.

    THE energy of the Chief Executive Officer of Divine Endowments, Abiola Ayeni, was put to test at her mother, Chief (Mrs) Fadeke Amoke Oduyemi’s burial ceremony and she passed it with flying colours.

    Abiola, who is the wife of former Chairman of Skye Bank, Tunde Ayeni, was tireless during the event. When she was not dancing, she was attending to guests.

    The recent couple actress Rita Dominic and her husband Fidelis Anosike were spotted at the event. Anosike couldn’t take his eyes off his beautiful wife. Even when she was exchanging pleasantries with friends, he was not far from her.

    The likes of Timi Alaibe, Ifiesimama Sekibo, Segun Awolowo and Chief Joko Oni were also seen at the ceremony.
