You can’t be friendly with everybody, says Simi

Popular singer Simi has dwelled on the true meaning of friendship with an insight on the importance of setting boundaries in relationships.

The ‘stranger‘ crooner urged her followers to be careful with labeling everyone as a friend with emphasis on the need to guard one’s personal space.

Simi stressed that casual interactions and occasional positive vibes should not automatically qualify someone as a best friend.

The singer highlighted the importance of being selective about who is allowed into one’s inner circle, stating that making someone smile should not grant unrestricted access to one’s heart and spirit.

The singer addressed the common misconception that if one invests more in a relationship than the other person, it doesn’t necessarily mean the other person is a bad friend or dislikes them.

Simi suggested that differences in perception and understanding may be at play.

“Y’all just be calling ANYBODY your friend and then act surprised when they act like your enemy

“You can be cool or vibe with someone every once in a while, but that def does not mean you’re now besties. Protect your space and stop giving every single person that made you smile once access to your heart and spirit.

“And this might be hard to hear (read) – but sometimes when you’re riding hard for someone that is not doing the same for you, it’s not always because they don’t like you or that they’re “bad friends” they probably just never really saw you the same way. you saw then. That. Is. Okay.

“Nobody’s life revolves around you except your own. Choose the people that choose you too. If you’re confused, communicate. Now stand up from your pity party and have a great day today,” she wrote.

“My year didn’t go how I planned. I’m not mad about it; I’m just stating for the record. I’d be crazy to give life any ultimatums, because by design, life is unpredictable.

“I only put out one song this year. A ballad. In the middle of the year. I had plans for multiple singles and an album. I did. But the music business is so fickle, it’s amusing. The wheels that turn behind the scenes are emotionless.

“This epistle is dedicated to my fans. Despite the many long waits you have endured for my sake, you support me. Still.

“Again and again. I don’t take you for granted and I hope that’s a truth you don’t forget. I wasn’t going to post this stuff, because I didn’t see the point. But you’re the point.

“This is one app. So the numbers are only a symbol and I want to say that I see you. Thank you for seeing me too.

“I pushed my stuff to next year, because I like the idea of starting afresh. So, I hope you’re ready,” she wrote.

Popular singer, Simisola Kosoko has reacted to the motherhood revelation struggles of a prominent writer, Chimamanda Adichie

The singer said she can relate to Chimamanda’s experience about motherhood.

The Nation reported that the Novelist in an interview with BBC, said motherhood is a “glorious gift” though it comes at a “cost”.

Reacting, Simi said women should be given grace because motherhood is not easy.

Simi wrote: “She captured this so beautifully. I remember I had the creative brain freeze too when I was pregnant. It shocked me lol. I’d never felt anything like that before.

“Every mother’s journey is different. Some are happy to ‘lose’ whatever they lose. For others, it’s just a bit too much. Your only job is to support her, not judge her experience.

“I hope we can actually see mothers more and not just beautiful babies. Mothers should not feel guilty for choosing themselves sometimes and doing whatever they need to be the kind of mothers they need to be. Because, trust me, the majority of the time, they have to choose someone else.

“So many moms are struggling with depression and can’t speak about it because they’re afraid to be judged as bad moms. You’re not a bad mommy. You’re a person. And you deserved to be seen.

“Lastly, in my opinion, saying “just have all your kids and get it out of the way” is such a careless thing to say. Children don’t get out of the way – unless you’re not actually planning to raise them.

She concluded with, “prayers and love to women TTC (trying to conceive). I see you too.”

IG users react to Simi’s ‘peer pressure’ definition

Afrobeats songstress, Simi recently stirred reactions among Instagram users with her definition of peer pressure.

She explained it actually wasn’t about ‘following bad friends’ but being compelled to react adversely based on the actions of another not necessarily an associate, in a bid to avoid being tagged weak.

Simi illustrated her point exemplifying motorists on the highway where one, precisely a lady who’s been driving responsibly is suddenly overtaken by another.

At that point, the ‘overtaken responsible driver’, wanting to prove a point of not being a ‘weakling’ to the overtaker decides to do the ‘needful’.

“Do you know what peer pressure is? You think it’s following bad friends? No, that’s not it,” Simi stated.

Describing the term in her own words, the 35-year-old singer said: “Peer pressure is when you’re driving responsibly, within the speed limit, doing all the right things, you’re very sure your name is on the book of life.

“You’re sure your making the right decisions but then, somebody is now driving from the back, cing fast…coming fast…coming fast. They now passed you, now entered your front, now zoomed off (makes the speeding off sound).

“You feel lost and they’ve told you; you’ll never be the last, you’ll be the first. So, you too, you carry your leg, pressed your accelerator (makes the speeding off sound again). Because you don’t want them to look at you that you’re not a strong lady, that’s peer pressure.”

The viewers however, had varying opinions about Simi’s illustration of the term with some claiming she was trying to pass a message beyond cars and driving.

mariomakez said: “She isn’t really referring to car she is referring to the race of life.”

robyekpo wrote: “The story has absolutely nothing to do with cars If you know, you know.”

classicgegstores wrote: “Dear lord forgive me Especially if it’s keke napep or Okada that did it to me. I will not gree oo.”
